Christianity EtcRe: I Just Gave My Tithe To A Beggar. Was I Wrong? by umuna(m): 11:11am On Oct 08, 2017
mdokaba1:
It was a very stressful week for me as it involved lots of travels and all. So its a Saturday and I was paid for a project I did for the month past.

Going by my tired nature, I knew deep down me that there was no way I could have made it to church the next day and I was hell bent on paying my tithe because of the inherent blessings therein and the last thing on my mind would be to give it to my nebor to pay it for me. (The guy broke and besides I didn't want him to start calculating my take-home (Na sharp man). And I knew deep down that if I keep the money till the next time I would be in church, I was sure I would spend it. (God have mercy on me sha)

So I decided even before getting home to package my tithe and while in the market on a shopping spree I package my tithe and dropped it in the plate of an old beggar. (A mulsim beggar precisely)

Instantly, I saw 50 shades of shocks on her face as she looked at me for a few seconds and I could read her facials more like "For this Buharia?" Lols. And before I disappeared into the crowd, I could see/read her lips mutter prayers pointing towards me. And deep down, I felt blessed and fulfilled.

But was I wrong to have given my 10percent to a beggar instead of to the alter?

Opinions please.

The Bible instruct that you follow all instructions, line by line, precinct upon precinct (Accuracy). Your 10% tithe is an instruction and there are some things you don't rely on your conscience to prick you!

Yes the God of host does have a throne! The book of Isaiah 6v1-6 confirms it. Also in the book of Revelation as quoted by other brethren.

PetsRe: Five Reasons You Should Own A Nigerian Local Dog ''ekuke'' Over Foreign Breeds by umuna(m): 7:03pm On Sep 11, 2017
UrennaNkoli:
We all know about our local breeds we find around. Call it basenji, call it indian pariah call it ekuke, call it meat 404 call it stray dogs, call it shit eaters but truth is, these breeds need more care and need not to be treated like a pack of shit grin

Here are some reasons why you should own an ekuke over that caucasian , pitbull , samoyed or GSD you so much crave for

1. Immunity and disease resistance

Have you ever seen an ekuke being dewormed or vaccinated at birth? Fact is no and never. Why ? Well thats because these breeds are so much immune to so many diseases affecting canines. You'll see them in gutters and dump yards yet, dem go still dey healthy cheesy. But with that boarboel of yours, you'll always be scared of pavo virus and the rest hoping your 150k + doesn't go with the wind. You can't even let your dogs out anyhow but with an ekuke, you don't need to be worried.

2. Feeding

Some people spend 10k+ every month just to feed their GSD. Some spend 15k+ just to feed their caucasian. With your local breed, why should you spend that much when all you have to do is feed it the remains of last night's food. They'll eat anything, they don't complain. Give them eba, they'll eat. If you want to treat them well, give them spoilt beans, they'll love you for ever.

3. Cost
To get a very pure boarboel from S.A, ready your 200k+ , same goes for caucasian and about 150k+ for a good GSD but with your 1k, you can get your local dog. Some even goes for as low as 500 naira. So come to think of it, why spend that much on just a dog that can die at any time. cheesy

4. Security
Some say these breeds are not security conscious but thats a fat lie. If you want to mess with them visit them at night when they are most active. (Which thief or burglar operates during the day tho). They are naturally sight hounds and speed hounds (hunters use them to catch meat and their success rate is 90%). They'll alert you way before any intruder gets in. Moreover, why spend 100 thousand naira or more on a foreign breed when you can get 100 ekukes to guard your home grin (who born any thief well when you have hundreds of dogs waiting in line to have a taste of your juicy flesh) . Afterall, there's strength in numbers they say wink

5. Longevity
They never fall sick, they never starve (even if you don't feed them they'll go an look for food themselves. Thats how smart they are). So what will kill them then?
Nice write up! The area that made me laugh most is the spoilt beans part!
PoliticsRe: Who Can Lead The PDP Back To Aso Rock? by umuna(m): 10:00pm On Aug 29, 2017
mrvitalis:
Honestly speaking Buhari has a good chance to return ( even tho I may not support him again )

Realistically only David Mark can unsit Buhari

How

PDP goes with Mark ,with the idea that it's time to free the middle belt from the Hausa/Fulani dominance

This will give him 70% of middle belt
40 % of north east
25% of north west

With and Igbo vice he will get 7 million votes from
From we the igbos ( won't vote for him tho )
South south will give him close to 7 million votes too ( Jonathan didn't get this high votes because people didn't really vote for him the ones that voted votes against Buhari )

South west are always divided and has very little votes even if he loses here the difference won't be more than -1 million votes

The margin from the middle belt will give him the edge ...south south and south east will roughly match the core north ...

liked your combination but mind you, only Kano will give Buhari all the votes he needs to silence the middle belt votes. Mind you i PDP is a cause and it is dying gradually.

So if the margin in the middle belt is strong enough he wins

Car TalkRe: Why do Nigerians avoid Volvo Cars (S80) by umuna(m): 9:45am On Aug 22, 2017
barrydee:
Good day guys,
I need your honest answers. I drove a friend's car (2001 Volvo s80 2.8 T6 twin turbo charged Engine) over the weekend from Port Harcourt to Calabar and I was wowed. The handling was great especially the torque & power. No car saw my behind all through the journey and I felt totally safe even at speed up to 150kph. The gas mileage was better compared to a 3.0 Camry v6 not to talk of the stylish interior and club banging factory stereo.
My questions are :
-why do people avoid Volvo Cars?
-why do Volvo cars have poor 2nd hand value?
-Being a Swedish car, are the parts cheaper when compared to German cars(Benz, BMW etc)?
-The s80 has straight 5cylinder, 5cyl Turbo, straight 6cyl and 6cyl twin-turbo engines. Which of these engines is less problematic?

I currently own a 2001 Honda crv but Im considering the volvo s80 and i don't know if it's a good upgrade.
My Volvo enthusiasts in the house, over to you guys.....
It is a great car! The reason most people do not look at Volvo cars is because there is a notion they have about the 244 model with a loud engine noise when revved. Also most Nigerians believe it is made for old people(Old school Lol). The parts are affordable especially if you reside in Lagos.
FoodMonodora Myristica by umuna(op): 8:41pm On Aug 16, 2017
Monodora myristica (West African Calabash nutmeg) is a perennial edible plant of the family Annonaceae. It is found most and commonly in the evergreen forests of West Africa. Its common names are African nutmeg, calabash nutmeg, and in Nigeria, it is called Ehuru by the Idi Igbo’s, Ariwo by the Yoruba’s and Gudan Miya by the Hausa’s. Its seed has an aromatic/fragrance and taste that is similar to nutmeg and is used as a popular spice in the West African cuisines. When grounded to powder, the kernel is used to prepare soup as stimulant to relieve constipation and control passive uterine haemorrhage in women immediately after child birth, Stomach ache, fever pains and eye diseases. While in some West African Countries, it is used in the treatment of headache and hypertension.
This wonderful spice work well with other spices and is very rich in taste and aroma in stews, baked goods, meats, fish and in pepper soup preparation. Recently, most users prefer buying the de-husked seeds because the shelled seeds are difficult to de-husked. We advise you buy the seeds with shells because, while using it, you get the freshness and its wonderful, rich aroma!
How do you de-husk the seeds to retrieve its brown aromatic seeds? All You need to do is to simply get a plier; select the number of seeds you want to use and crack the shell open! Please remember, do not use your teethes because it is not healthy! Samples are available for tasting.

FoodSee My Banga Soup (AFRAMOMUM DANIELLI) by umuna(op): 8:32pm On Jun 26, 2017
AFRAMOMUM DANIELLI

It is a member of the Aframomum family and closely related to alligator pepper seeds or grains of paradise. its seeds are dark and shiny with a pleasant aroma. Most locals call it Orima and it is an important item in preparation of a local soup called Banga soup in Niger Delta area in Nigeria. The seeds are less pungent, but backed with a lot (29) of antioxidant oil properties like cineole, pinene and trephine being the major oil constituents in the seeds. The seeds can be used generally for spicing foods, as food preservative, flavouring of drinking’s and baking due to its strong antibacterial and antifungal activities. According to research, this wonder spice stops the growth of moulds in food which usually causes food poisoning. You can achieve this by adding/ blending the seeds with the items you want to preserve. Apart from using the seeds in Banga soup, we due use the seeds in stews, Akara, Moi-Moi, Meat Pie, Burger, Beef roll etc.

FoodHow To Use Pepper Fruits by umuna(op): 10:23pm On Jun 14, 2017
Dennettia Tripetala usually referred to as pepper fruit is a fruity pod with a tinge of pepper which belongs to the plant family of Annonaceae. In local languages in Nigeria, it is called Ako in Edo, Nkarika in Ibibio, Mmimi in Igbo and Ata Igbere in Yoruba. It grows on a tree measuring 6-10 meters in height and its fruiting season begins from late March to Late May every year depending on the volume of rain fall. The fruits/pods may come in both ripened or green pods.

Pepper fruit pods have been said to stop prostate cancer, ameliorate liver, kidney damages caused by multiple exposures to toxic substances (The Guardian of 25th May 2017). Apart from the discoveries, it has been said that, it prevents and treats glaucoma, food poisoning, indigestion and heart burns. According researchers, the pods are rich in protein, carbohydrates, Vitamins A, C and E respectively.

Recently, Observation was made that, in Nigeria, this fruity pods are only eaten leisurely when in its season and after then, nothing is heard about the it. Lately, we also discovered that, the pods can be dried and stored for future use as against preserving only the seeds. After drying and storage of the pods, it could be used for spice mix with other spices to promote good health. Are you have digestion problems? (in-digestion of foods leads to excess weight gain) All you need do is, chew 2-3 pods to aid digestion and it clears heart burns. Personally, my wife uses it to control her weight. She does this by chewing some pods immediately after meals before going to bed and it is working for her.

Pepper fruits wonderfully helps in the fight against bacteria in the eyes. How do yo know this? Chew 3-4 pods before going to bed in the night, and when you wake-up in the morning, you will observe large quantity of dried up mucus in the eyes.
