“This defendant can best be described as an animal without conscience.
“He has destroyed the life of this girl-child and she can never remain the same mentally, physically and emotionally.

PoliticsAtiku Dares Critics, Says He Is Ready To Storm America If..... by Upritman(op): 5:46am On Jul 01, 2018
@Suanu's Blog

Are you one of those who believe former vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, cannot visit the United States of America because of fear of possible arrests due to alleged corrupt practices while he was in office? Well, Atiku has come out to declare his intention to visit the US, on the condition that the country approves his visa application.

Atiku revealed this in an interview with political columnist Dele Momodu. “If America says come today, I will board the flight and go there soonest.”

Mr Abubakar has been accused of receiving kickbacks for his role in helping an American firm, iGate, secure a contract to expand broadband in Nigeria in the mid-2000s. An Ally of Mr. Atiku, Williams Jefferson, an American politician who was a member of the U.S. Congress at the time, was convicted for his role in the contract fraud. However, Mr Abubakar strongly denied ties to the fraud.

Atiku who claimed to have being a victim of corruption propaganda to scuttle his political career said; “The youth have every right to ask and be answered convincingly,” Mr Abubakar said. “The youth of today are confident and bold. No leader can treat them as nobody.” “But in my case, they have been lied to about Atiku and fed with a lot of propaganda,” he added.

Speaking further he said he applied for visa at the U.S. Embassy but was not granted, repeating a claim he made when he sat down with Mr Momodu in a previous interview last December.

“I applied to America for visa which was not granted. A man who is afraid of being arrested won’t go near the American Embassy, it is simple logic,” Mr Abubakar said.

Mr Atiku however smartly played down his failure to visit the U.S. as inconsequential to his presidential ambition, saying the Nigerian Constitution does not require ability to travel to the U.S. for a Nigerian to be eligible for office.

According to Him, “If America says come today, I will board the flight and go there soonest. Perhaps, America was fed with lies about me. It is normal in politics. The Indian and Kenyan leaders could not visit America at a time. America is not like Nigeria where we convict people on the pages of newspapers.”

Mr Abubakar like on previous occasions reiterated his innocence against public claims that He is corrupt.

He said,“I have thrown the challenge repeatedly that anyone who has any corrupt charges against me should come forward…” he said. “I never stole government money. Do you think President Obasanjo would not have exposed me if there was any such act of stealing?”

Suanu’s Blog recalls that Mr.Atiku who is one of the favourite presidential aspirants to get the ticket of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has not been able to travel to the U.S. since he left office as Nigeria’s Vice President in 2007.

PoliticsFresh Crisis Hits Ekiti State Chapter Of The APC Ahead Of The Gov'ship Election by Upritman(op): 6:43pm On Jun 29, 2018
@SuanusBlog

A new crisis has hit the Ekiti State Chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC few weeks to the governorship election to hold in the state.

This is coming as party members loyal to Engr.Segun Oni, a governorship aspirant of the party appears not to have given up on their bitterness over losing the primary election of the party.

Despite pledging to support the candidate of the party, Dr.Kayode Fayemi, the former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the party was alleged to have dragged Dr.Fayemi to court over the governorship ticket of the party.

Although Oni earlier denied knowledge of the suit, his campaign organisation however owned up to have instituted the legal action to seek redress.

Oni in the suit is challenging the candidacy of Dr.Fayemi partly on the ground that he was still a minister when he contested the party’s primary.

The Group also is bittered that its members have been ostracised since their principal lost to Kayode Fayemi in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Ekiti.

Oni's supporters also accused the Fayemi campaign of non-inclusiveness, maltreatment, and marginalisation.

According to a communiqué released after a meeting in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, the group said the party flagbearer’s camp has demonstrated “open hatred for Segun Oni and his group”.

“The insinuation for all these started before the primary when it was reported that the main reason while Dr. Fayemi joined the race was to prevent a “stranger” like Segun Oni from taking over the APC. Their gospel belief is that Chief Segun Oni, the former Deputy National Chairman (South) for APC is a PDP member who is a stranger to the APC,” the communiqué signed by Ife Arowosoge, director of the organisation, read.

The group said all efforts by Oni and his camp to make Fayemi’s campaign organisation treat them as a united political family has proved abortive.

“It has become more worrisome in that the Fayemi group has continued its acts of marginalization, maltreatment, harassment and intimidation of our members at our party rallies,” the communique read.

“Rather than seeing and treating Segun Oni and his group as partners in the quest for a resounding victory for our great party, APC in the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti, the JKFCO has been nursing the fleeting illusion that they could do it without the Segun Oni and his group who shall therefore be put in the cooler for the four-year tenure of Fayemi.”

The group said it has it on good authority that all the incoming elective positions have been allocated to Fayemi’s cronies and the new joiners without recourse to Oni and his supporters.

Confirming the legal action against Dr.Fayemi, the group said, “we unanimously resolved to support the fore-sighted legal action instituted by the Segun Oni group as this will not only prevent the party from not being part of the governorship election but very importantly strengthens the rule of law and our democracy in Nigeria. Also, the legal action will defend our rights, privileges and interests within the party”.

The main purpose of the court action, the group said, is to rescue the party at the state level.

However, major chieftains of the party in the South-West region have reiterated their support for the candidature of Dr.Fayemi.

The Party chieftains which included Bola Tinubu, Bisi Akande, Segun Osoba, Niyi Adebayo and Pius Akinyelure reaffirmed their backing of Fayemi in an advertorial on Friday.

They urged Oni to dissociate himself from the alleged suit asking the court to revoke the candidacy of Fayemi.

They said Fayemi has fulfilled all necessary requirements for the election.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we the undersigned leaders remain solidly behind the candidacy of Kayode Fayemi,” the advertorial published on Nigerian Tribune read.

“We have stood behind Kayode Fayemi’s candidacy since he won the governorship primaries ".

The chieftains recalled how they had a meeting with the aspirants who lost the primary election, and suggested that Fayemi run an effective and inclusive campaign that will ultimately lead to an all-inclusive government.

They also demanded the immediate withdrawal of the purported court action.

Meanwhile, Hon.Bamidele Opeyemi, director of the Fayemi governorship campaign, had on Thursday said, “the doors of the party are wide open to entertain complaints and trash them in the interest of everybody”.

Suanu's Blog recalls that Engr.Segun Oni had the second highest number of votes at the APC Governorship Primary Election.

Foreign AffairsPresident Sacks Head Of Electoral Commission, Two Deputies Over "Incompetency by Upritman(op): 3:00pm On Jun 29, 2018
President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has fired the head of the country’s Electoral Commission for “misbehaviour and incompetence”, Information Minister Mustapha Abdul-Hamid said.

Akufo-Addo The removal of Charlotte Osei and her two deputies were based on a recommendation by a special committee set up by the chief justice to investigate complaints against them, Abdul-Hamid said in a statement. “The committee recommended their removal on the basis of stated misbehaviour and incompetence, pursuant to Article 146(1) of the Constitution,” the minister said.

The three were directed to transfer their duties to the director for human resource and general services of the commission. The presidency said last year it had referred a petition from some workers at the Electoral Commission, accusing Osei of abuse of office, to the chief justice for investigation.

Osei denied the accusations and the main opposition has repeatedly said they are trumped up. Osei, a former corporate lawyer, was appointed by former President John Mahama in mid-2015.

She successfully supervised a general election in 2016 which was won by Akufo-Addo, then leader of the main opposition. The West African major commodity exporter will hold presidential and parliamentary elections in December 2020, in a vote that will be a close contest between Akufo-Addo’s New Patriotic Party and the main opposition National Democratic Congress.

PoliticsHow I Will Continue With Gov.fayose's Stomach Infrastructure In Ekiti State by Upritman(op): 2:26pm On Jun 29, 2018
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, has revealed his desire to continue with the much talked about stomach infrastructure associated with the Gov.Ayodele Fayose administration in Ekiti State if elected into office.

Prof.Olusola promised this on Thursday while unveiling his manifesto encapsulated under the heading; ‘SHIELD’.

Prof. Olusola, also promised to make tremendous impact in the areas of Security, Social Welfare and Sustainable Human Capital Development, Healthcare Delivery, Infrastructure and Industrial Development, Education, all-inclusive Leadership and Governance as well as Development of Agriculture and Tourism.

The PDP candidate while addressing journalists in Ado Ekiti yesterday, promised to partner with private investors to industrialize the state, by providing enabling environment for private sector to partner the state. He also promised to devote resources and commitments to the construction of inter and intra city roads, particularly those in the remote towns, improving on the urban renewal in Ado Ekiti and local government headquarters initiated by Fayose’s government.

Prof.Olusola added that He will establish recreation centres in some selected local governments to serve as places of leisure that can develop local economy, prevent rural-urban drift and promote technical education by developing the three Technical Colleges across the State starting with the one in the capital city.

“What we intend to do is to draft the consultants in Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital to these cottage hospitals to offer consultancy services once or twice a week. Our people must be healthy to be able to enjoy the dividends of democracy”.
“There is need for Ekiti to attract industries to this state, because most of our youths are not gainfully employed. The State alone can’t employ them and    any economy that will achieve this must work with the private sector”.
“I will start by introducing ICT in all our schools, so that all the teachers can comply with the new trend in education. I believe teachers can stay in the office and communicate with students, this is very essential. “During my time, the Technical Schools will not be vocational centres alone, it will be entrepreneurial and skills centres".

PoliticsRestore Abakaliki Street In 7 Days, Else... Ebonyi Tells Anambra State by Upritman(op): 10:27am On Jun 29, 2018
@SuanusBlog

Angry over over the renaming of the popular Abakaliki Street in Anambra State, the Ebonyi State House of Assembly has issued a seven day ultimatum to the Anambra State government to restore the name in Awka with immediate effect as failure to do so would mandate Ebonyi State government to rename all structures named after Anambra men and women or towns related to Anambrarians.

This threat followed a resolution of the House after its  Wednesday  plenary, where they also resolved that Anambra State government must tender an apology to the people of Ebonyi State.

The chairman of the House Committee on Information and member representing Ikwo South constituency, Hon. Chike Ogiji who spoke with newsman after the plenary described the decision of Anambra government as “not only embarrassing but also a threat to the unity of Igbo nation.”

He said it was “worrisome that government of Anambra State could rename a street named after Abakaliki which had existed for decades,” stressing that such development was an “indication that Anambra government has no regard for the cordial relationship that had existed between the two states.”

Suanu's Blog recalls that Gov.Willie Obiano had changed the name of ‘Abakaliki street’ in Awka, to ‘Club street’ ; an act that angered the Ebonyi State Government.

It is unclear whether the threat will force Anambra State into reverting its decision.

PoliticsAPC Chieftain Drags President Buhari Before UN Over Alleged Genocide by Upritman(op): 11:35am On Jun 28, 2018
A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its immediate past Deputy National Publicity Secretary Comrade Timi Frank has draged President Muhammadu Buhari to the United Nation over what he described as “ethnic cleansing and genocide in Nigeria”.

Mr. Frank accused the Buhari administration of lacking the required political will to declare the alleged perpetrators of the increasing brutal attacks and gruesome killings on a daily basis in the country as terrorist group.

In an open letter addressed to the Secretary/General of the United Nations, António Guterres, through its office in Abuja on Thursday, the embattled APC chieftain said Nigerians have lost confidence in the security outfits, especially the military, having allegedly shown complicity in the killings going on.

He, therefore called on the United Nations and other world powers to make their own private findings as to what was going on in Nigeria as it relates to security matters, saying “if we don’t get intervention in good time, there may not be Nigeria in the nearest future.”

The letter titled: “A call for urgent intervention to stop ongoing ethnic cleasing and genocide in Nigeria” obtaimed by Suanu's Blog read in part: “It has become imperative for me to once again bring to your attention the continuous mass murder of innocent Nigerians by Fulani Herdsmen without required mitigation from the present administration in the country. The tension between Fulani herdsmen and farming communities has existed for many years. However, there has been a dramatic upswing in recent time with increasing brutal attacks and gruesome killings on a daily basis. The impunity and brutality with which the assailants operate, without regard to law and sanctity of life, is both shocking and appalling. “It is however surprising to note that the government of the day which was elected in an unprecedented public approval in 2015, has not deemed it necessary to summon the political will and courage to forge a lasting solution to the violence. The nation’s security is on a free float while Nigerians are being killed in their native communities where they have dwelled for ages. “You are no doubt aware that Fulani herdsmen have been acknowledged by the global community as the fourth deadliest Terror Group in the world. ‘Fulani militants’ as they have come to be known are daily visiting deaths on innocent farmers who dare challenge them after their farms have been ravaged by cattle. For the singular reason that they want their cattle to graze on other people’s farmland, they kill and maim natives. Therefore, lives and property are perpetually endangered across the country as I write. “Curiously however, the government of the day has refused to declare the group as a terrorist organization, as a way of bringing permanent closure to their bloodletting activities. Another worrisome dimension to this orgy of violence is the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari has consistently defended them as a group that merely carry sticks and machetes. However, to the contrary, eyewitnesses report that the Fulani militants are usually armed with sophisticated weapons and often attack their victims when they are most vulnerable, such as midnights, church services and burial ceremonies. They have consistently visited and brutally killed predominantly Christian natives in the North Central Region including some parts of the South and North of the country. “I dare say that the United Nations cannot stand aloof and watch human lives being wasted on such gargantuan scale as being witnessed daily in Nigeria, due largely to the failure of government to rise to the occasion and stem the tide; by doing the needful to safeguard the lives of its own people. “I therefore, call on the United Nations and the G7 countries such as the United States of America, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom to come to Nigeria’s aid before it is too late. We as Nigerians have lost confidence in our security outfits, especially the military as they have shown complicity in the killings going on in Nigeria. Questions begging for answers are: Why have they not been able to prevent the attacks, make arrest and prosecute the killers? These attacks are being carried out for hours and no single suspect has been prosecuted? “I therefore call on the United Nations and other world powers to make their own private findings as to what is going on in Nigeria as it relates to security matters. As it is, if we don’t get intervention in good time, there may not be Nigeria in the nearest future.”

CrimeHerdsmen Attack Benue And Adamawa States, Kill 2 Soldiers, 1 Policeman, Others by Upritman(op): 11:03am On Jun 28, 2018
In a show of killing audacity, suspected Fulani Herdsmen have launched new attacks in Benue and Adamawa States, killing at least two soldiers, a police man and two civilians and about 29 other people.

Suanu's Blog gathered that the Benue attack occurred near Otukpo last night and the victims who included two soldiers and a police man were men of the Joint Task Force, JTF, in the state.

It was further gathered that the deceased were mercilessly butchered by their attackers with some parts of their bodies chopped off. Their corpses have been deposited at the mortuary at Otukpo General Hospital, Thursday morning.

Meanwhile in Adamawa State, the suspected herdsmen on Wednesday also attacked Bare village in the Numan Local Government of the State, killing two people and inflicting 29 others with various degrees of injury.

Suanu's gathered that those killed were attacked on their farms, while the attackers also set the villages ablaze.

The Chairman, Numan Local Government Area, Rev. Arnold Ijibla, while calling on the people not to take laws into their hands, lamented that the security agencies were in control of the situation.

One of the victims of the attack, Simeon Mailaimu, who is the councillor representing Bare Council Ward in the local government, described the attack as unprovoked. Mailaimu, who is the leader of the Numan Legislative Council, also said that cows belonging to Fulani herdsmen had invaded a farmland, adding that the community was attacked because the residents tried to chase the cows away from the farm.

These attacks are coming as more Nigerians continue to condemn the recent attack on about 11 villages in Plateau State where over 200 persons have been confirmed dead from a similar attack from Fulani Herdsmen.

SportsSee The Nigerian Prophet Who Said Nigeria Will Get To Semi-finals In 2018 World by Upritman(op): 1:22pm On Jun 27, 2018
As Nigerians are sad over the exit of the Super Eagles from the 2018 World Cup holding in Russia, Suanu's Blog has recalled how a prophet had predicted that the Nigerian Team will get to the Semi-Finals of the world football tournament.

The cleric identified as Prophet J.K. Oladipupo of the Faith and Victory Church in an interview with Tribune in June had given the prophecy with overwhelming optimism.
"Let me add this. I predicted that the Super Eagles would qualify for the World Cup. Now that the tournament is about to start, they will surpass the highest stage reached by any African team in the history of the tournament," he said.

He had recalled how he predicted victory for General Muhammadu Buhari who later emerged as Nigerian President in 2015.
"I predicted victory for Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 election. God told me Buhari had been ordained to win the election no matter what," he said.

Despite his prophecy, the Super Eagles Tuesday night crashed out of the 2018 World Cup at Group Stage after suffering a 2 : 1 defeat to Argentina.

Jokes Etc2019: Igbos Project Ahmed Musa As Their Presidential Candidate by Upritman(op): 7:40pm On Jun 22, 2018
@Suanu'sBlog

Following the victory of the Super Eagles today against Iceland secured singly by Nigerian Striker, Ahmed Musa, a campaign poster has emerged online with the footballer been projected as a presidential candidate by the Igbos.
Musa is projected to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, a political party with elective presence only in the South-East geopolitical zone.
It may be just another way to celebrate the skillful footballer who restored the hope of Nigeria in the ongoing 2018 world cup holding in Russia.

PoliticsGov.wike Begs IGP For Forgiveness, APC Urges Mr.idris To Turn Him Down by Upritman(op): 10:25am On Jun 21, 2018
@Suanu'sBlog

There is an indication that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has made a sudden u-turn and has reportedly sent a delegation to Abuja to beg the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idirs.

Suanu's Blog recalls that in an unending manner Gov.Wike had never spared any moment from criticising the police with several allegations against the IGP and the Commander of FSARS in the state.

The reason for the alleged to be initiated romance between Mr.Wike and Mr.Idris can not be clearly verified as at the time of filing the report. However, the state chapter of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC which exposed the plot has urged Mr.Idris to reject any apology from Mr.Wike.

The content of the statement signed by Mr.Chris Finebone who speaks for the APC in Rivers State reads below;

AT LAST, WIKE BEGS POLICE INSPECTOR-GENERAL, IDRIS IBRAHIM, SENDS A DELEGATION OF HIS CARDINALS (HANGARS-ON) TO DELIVER HIS APOLOGY TO THE IG

Despite all the false public posturing, blackmail, propaganda and media war by Gov. Nyesom Wike against the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris and the FSARS Commander in Rivers State, ACP Akin Fakorede, the governor has finally lost the war against the two police officers as his delegation has arrived Abuja to beg the IG for forgiveness on his behalf.

The delegation sent to Abuja by Gov. Wike to beg the IG is made up of his close hangars-on commonly referred to as his Cardinals and they include Chief Ferdinand Anabraba, Desmond Akawor, Glory Emeh, Sergeant Awuse, Celestine Omehia and Austin Opara. The team is in Abuja as we write.

The APC is aware that shortly after ACP Akin Fakorede threatened to pursue legal action against the Rivers State Government for running a damaging front-page blackmail against him in many national newspapers running close to N1b for months, Gov. Wike was prevailed upon to discontinue the media war and seek peace with the Police IG. Those who prevailed on the governor to balk down and beg premised their advice on the seeming refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to remove the Police IG and Akin Fakorede based on propaganda by Wike and other detractors of the Police boss.

We recall that quite early in this dispensation, Gov. Wike launched an all-out media attack against IG Ibrahim Idris hoping that President Buhari would be hoodwinked into removing the IG. When that scheme failed, the governor turned his war on ACP Akin Fakorede and the FSARS in Rivers State believing that the IG would be so embarrassed as to remove the FSARS Commander. It must be stated that the attack on Akin Fakorede was launched because the officer severally turned down monetary offers from the governor in exchange for doing the governor’s bidding. The war was to get Fakorede out to make way for a replacement who may be pliant or likely to succumb to the governor’s insidious advances.
Having failed to get the Inspector-General and the FSARS Commander out of the way, Gov. Nyesom Wike assembled his delegation who reached out and booked an appointment with the office of the IG culminating in the delegation members’ trip to Abuja where they will see the IG and beg on behalf of the governor.

The APC is surprised that after Gov. Wike huffed, puffed and blackmailed IG Ibrahim Idris and ACP Akin Fakorede to no end, the governor decided to eat the humble pie by sending a high-powered delegation of his men to go Nicodemusly to beg the IG.

The position of the APC is that the IG should discountenance the dubious olive branch Gov. Wike is offering through his delegation because the governor has made up his mind to disrespect and rubbish federal institutions (especially the Nigeria Police) on the altar of partisan politics. Having maligned and blackmailed IG Ibrahim Idris and ACP Akin Fakaroede publicly, Gov Wike should apologise to both officers and gentlemen publicly. Sending a ‘midnight’ delegation to go and beg the IG indicates that Gov. Nyesom Wike is not sincere and not ready to turn a new leaf.

The APC wishes to advise Gov. Wike to stop giving Rivers State and its people poor public image because his private and public uncouth utterances do not portray the true image of Rivers people. Our people have a track record of being respectful, groomed in good behaviour and well cultured in our utterances. These are clearly attributes inherently lacking in Gov. Nyesom Wike. Indeed, he does not (any bit) represent who Rivers people are.

We remind the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris that Gov. Nyesom Wike’s latest olive branch is not altruistic, lacking in honesty and totally opportunistic. The IG should realise that if President Buhari had listened to the damaging media war Gov. Wike levied on him and his men, by now he would have been removed by Mr. President. The IG must reject Wike’s evil entreaties for lack of sincerity.

PoliticsEkiti 2018: APC Guber Candidate Reacts To Alleged Killing Of Policeman by Upritman(op): 9:56am On Jun 20, 2018
The Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation has reacted to a viral rumour linking the convoy of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress , APC in Ekiti State, Dr.Kayode Fayemi to the death of a police officer identified as Inspector Kayode Gabriel.

Suanu's Blog recalls that an Aide of Gov.Fayose, Lere Olayinka, on Tuesday had alleged that one of the vehicles on APC Guber candidate's convoy knocked down and killed the police officer during the party's rally on tuesday in Ekiti state.

However, a statement by Mr.Wole Olujobi, who is the Director, Media and Publicity, Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation described the online story as FALSE.

The statement obtained by Suanu's Blog reads below:

"The attention of the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation has been drawn to a story online purporting that Dr Kayode Fayemi's convoy today killed a police officer in Ado-Ekiti.
There is no iota of truth in the claim. Throughout today and since yesterday when Fayemi had started receiving visitors in Ekiti State, nothing of such happened.
Since we were sure that nothing like that happened, we took the pains to find out the veracity of the report and our search for truth yielded a mindless attempt by mischief-makers to blame an innocent man for the offence he did not commit just because of desperation to paint him black for electoral advantage.
Our investigation confirmed that no accident connected with Dr Fayemi's convoy happened during the rally.
Officers at SIB Department of the State Police Command confirmed that the affected officer was knocked down by a boy who was driving his father's car at a high speed and in the process hit the officer.
The vehicle that knocked down the officer has since been impounded at MTD, a road accident section of the State Police Command located at Okesa.
It is unfortunate that those who claim to be journalists working for Fayose do not have any idea about what journalism is all about.
It is also regrettable that practising journalists who know their onions allow quacks to put the integrity of their profession at risk.
We condemn this trademark criminal attitude of these pseudo-journalists who traffic in falsehood as the hallmark of their so-called journalism practice.
We call on journalists' associations to conduct integrity tests for members of their associations to separate the wheat from the chaff".

Despite a boycott order by the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC to its members against the local government elections holding in the state today, a chieftain of the party and lawmaker representing Tai/Eleme/Oyigbo federal constituency, Hon.Dr.Barry Mpigi on Saturday participated in the election by casting his vote at his polling unit in his village.

The Chairman of the party, Hon.Ojukaye Flag Amachree in a statement he personally signed had said; "Our members should shun anything that will directly or remotely associate them with the sham exercise on Saturday".
This directive appears to have been outrightly disobeyed by Hon.Mpigi who before now has been having a sustained romance with Gov.Wike and the PDP in Rivers State.

Speaking after casting his vote, Hon.Mpigi said;
"My name is Hon.Barry Mpigi, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, as you can see I just finished casting my vote, the APC refused to participate in the election because of the endless crisis that rocks the party".

The lawmaker who claimed his participation in the poll was to attract more debelopments to his people said;
"Today we're not talking about party but we're looking at dividends of democracy".

Hon.Mpigi who is already nursing a senatorial ambition in the 2019 General elections praised Gov.Wike for the massive development the state has witnessed under his leadership. He said his people as a sign of appreciation will massively support Gov.Wike for him to continue in office in the 2019 polls.
"His Excellency Chief Barr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has performed very well and because Tai people are not ungrateful people we have said that he deserves another tenure"

Mpigi, who openly endorsed Gov.Wike for a second term in office said the only reason that may change that is if the APC gives its governorship ticket to any of its kinsmen.
"The only reason why Tai people may do a rethink is if gubernatorial ticket is giving to any Ogoni son, we don't need Deputy governor or what ever, at the absent of the gubernatorial ticket for an Ogoni son I hereby urge Tai people to support Wike till 2023", He said.

Suanu's Blog recalls that Hon.Barry Mpigi after receiving a brand SUV Jeep donation from Gov.Wike was later rumoured to have been bought over to the PDP with an irresistible sum of N1bn. He has continued to have a cordial relationship with Gov.Wike including the sole right of nominating the current caretaker committee chairman of his Tai local government area who before now was a member of the APC, the local government candidate of the PDP in today's local council poll as well as facilitating the defection of the lawmaker representing Tai State constituency in the state house of the assmbly, Hon.Matthew Dike, to the PDP.

Suanu's Blog gathered that Hon.Mpigi who has perfected his defection to the PDP is strategically waiting for the "right time" as the 2019 elections draw near.

Meanwhile, the local government elections in Tai Local Government Area is reportedly going on peacefully.

PoliticsGov.fayose Pays Some Of Us N150 As Salary, Yet He Is Owing Us For 9 Months by Upritman(op): 9:44am On Jun 15, 2018
A Community Leader in Ekiti State, Chief Wale Alade, has lambasted the State Governor, Ayodele Fayose for unleashing hardship on traditional chiefs in the State. Chief Alade who is the Aro of Iyin-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, lamented that despite the sad fact that some palace chiefs were receiving as low as N150 and N100 as monthly salary, Gov.Fayose was still owing them for nine months.
The Chief who stated this while addressing reporters on Thursday in Iyin, described the alleged maltreatment of Obas and chiefs by Fayose as “shameful and very annoying.”
Chief Alade recalled that his monthly salary which used to be N1,800 during the last administration has been cut to N700, adding that lower grade palace chiefs received as low as N150 and N100 monthly.
He explained that the traditional institution enjoyed better treatment during the tenure of former Governor Kayode Fayemi through regular payment of salaries, release of N450,000 security allowance to each community and special health mission for Obas, chiefs and their families.
Alade who urged the people to vote against Fayose and his anointed candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola said: “The way forward is for us to vote him out and put somebody who is responsible there. We need a governor that will respect the leadership of our communities.
“We need a governor that will respect the traditional institution, the Obas, their chiefs and other community leaders.
“This is what we want our people to do; we are mobilising ourselves and we are going to vote him and his candidate out.
“It is very shameful and annoying that we have a governor who calls himself a chief, the Apesin of Ado-Ekiti, maltreating us.”
Alade added: “It is frustrating to be paying us N700 and still be owing nine months’’.
“He paid September 2017 and we are having outstanding arrears of nine months despite the annoying salaries we are collecting from the government now.
“There are some of us who are collecting as little as N150 in a month, those who are in ‘Elegiri’ category. At times, they collect, N100 and at times, N110. These are facts that can be verified in our various communities.
“Even the Obas, are they paid properly? Are they given what they are supposed to have? This is the situation, we are suffering and when you see us wearing beads all around, you will think we are having money.
“The whole thing is from the government and they tell us that if we are not satisfied with what they are giving to us, we should leave it.
“The senior chiefs have cried out to the governor but nothing is forthcoming at all. We collect salaries by hand, nothing to sign, no voucher, no document.”

PoliticsOBJ Thought We Will Be President Forever, I Would've Arrested Him If I Were PMB by Upritman(op): 2:42pm On Jun 13, 2018
A former Labour Leader and Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has revealed that he would have arrested ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo if he were to be occupying Buhari's position as Nigeria’s president.

He wondered why Obasanjo who arrested, detained and maltreated many Nigerians even the very innocent ones should now be afraid of similar treatments.

Oshiomhole urged President Muhammadu Buhari to probe and arrest the former president “if he has committed any offence”.

This Day quotes Oshiomhole to have made the comment on Tuesday at an event held in honour of late MKO Abiola’s family.

Oshiomhole who recalled how Obasanjo wanted to turn Nigeria into Zimbabwe through his failed third term bid said he had warned the former Nigerian Leader in his days of supremacy that u won't remain president of Nigeria forever.

“He should be arrested if he has committed any offence. He arrested many of us. So, if we are celebrating Chief Gani Fawehinmi, we have compelling reasons to do so. In all of these, we didn’t pay any money to Gani or Falana. They defended us pro bono.

“Gani is not here today, but his spirit is here. Falana is here and today, I am standing. Even the president who was in charge then, he is now complaining that they want to harass him. He was harassing me and he got me arrested.

“He thought he himself would not be arrested? If I were the president I would arrest him. We are all Nigerians. I remember one day I told him, I said ‘President Obasanjo, we made you president. You did not make me a Nigerian.

“’You are our creation; I am not your creation. You must listen’. But he thought he would be in power forever and he tried to take us on the way to Zimbabwe.

“He was a reluctant Head of State, became president for two terms and he wanted to do a third term because a cockroach licking palm oil would never lick enough”, Oshiomhole said.

It may interest you to know that the former governor is seeking election as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and enjoys the sole support of President Muhammadu Buhari.

PoliticsAPC Will Win Governorship Elections In Ekiti And Osun States - Prophet Ayodele by Upritman(op): 11:33am On Jun 03, 2018
Ahead of the goverorship election scheduled to hold this year in Ekiti and Osun States, a renowned cleric, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, has revealed that the Peoples Democratic Party will lose both states.

Primate Ayodele who is a known seer and prophet made the predictions during an empowerment programme on Saturday in his church.

He said: “On the forthcoming elections in Ekiti and Osun states, PDP will lose Ekiti and Fayemi should take the right step and watch his utterances so if he is desirous of taking over from Fayose.

“He would lose the election if he fails to listen to instructions. He must beam his electioneering campaign at the grassroots.

“In Osun, PDP has missed it. APC in Osun can still retain the seat if they pick the right candidate and the right candidate is in Aregbesola’s cabinet.

Calling on President Buhari to show more concern about the challenges confronting the nation especially that of insecurity caused by killer Fulani Herdsmen, Prophet Ayodele said;

“Buhari has done well in the fight against corruption but has missed a lot of things that needed to be given priority attention. That is why his second term is not certain.

“The President needs to address the issue of insecurity in Nigeria. Mosques will still be attacked, churches will still be attacked because the government got it wrong on the issue of herdsmen.

“The president should be more proactive about the security of the nation. There is need for the government to overhaul the nation’s security agencies as a way of dealing with this challenge.”

Repeating his earlier call on the Senate President, Dr.Bukola Saraki to contest for the 2019 presidential election, Prophet Ayodele said;
“I want to appeal to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to put a lot of things into consideration and take a bold step to contest the presidency. He will survive despite the fact that he is in the midst of crisis,” he declared.

PoliticsPDP Lawmaker In Rivers State Defects To APC by Upritman(op):
@SuanusBlog

A member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon.Martins Mana has dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, for the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.

Hon Mana's defection is coming few weeks after he vehemently criticised the leadership of the assembly and called on the Speaker Rt. Hon Ikuinyi Uwaji-Ibani to resign.

He had also lamented  the absence of adequate training and workshops opportunities for the state lawmakers, which according to him,  has  affected negatively the performances of Legislatures and legislations in the state.

“Over  80% of Lawmakers in this (8th) Assembly are green horns,  and as  legislatures we are expected to go for seminars, workshops and conventions to improve our capacity, but unfortunately since we resumed, this is our third year, we have only travelled once for the commonwealth parliamentary association CPA meeting, we have only gone for only one seminar, whereas other states that produce only onions and water melon are able to sponsor their lawmakers to all seminars, workshops and CPA meetings even to foreign countries ”
“The speaker has failed to deliver all this trainings to members, now as new members how do we contribute on the floor of the house when we have not been adequately trained , some members do not even know how to move motions”
“For 17 months staff have not been paid, our staff have literally turned to beggars, this edifice was built by former governor Peter Odili, yet cannot be maintained by the speaker, even when the present governor Nyesom Wike  gave him N600m to renovate both the quarters and the complex, the speaker never did it, look at how the complex is in a mess, everywhere is smelling, then someone would ask us not to talk.”
“Today I felt that why we are talking about the protection of Rivers people against the Federal Government, there is also need for us to remove the worm in our own eyes before removing the one in other people’s eyes.
“If this is what we have to offer, I want to dissociated myself from this kind of assembly, this is not a proper assembly, we have three arms of government, the executive is functioning very well, the judiciary is functioning very well but look at the Rivers State House of Assembly, is this actually an assembly, most people don’t even know their left from their right, we have kept quiet for so long and now the tenure is ending, nothing has been achieved, the only thing we know how to do is when the governor sends bills, we deliberate on the governor’s request and that is all, so it is bothering me.
“If the speaker knows that he is not competent to lead the house, because we cannot come here and fail because of one man’s lackadaisical attitude, if he know that he cannot pilot this house, he should honorably resign let another man takeover.” the Lawmaker had said.

But amidst fears that Hon.Mana may soon be suspended from the house, the lawmaker took the bold step to dump the PDP.

Some political watchers have hailed the courage of Hon.Mana to challenge Gov.Wike and the way the state assembly has been functioning thus far.

It may interest you to know that Hon.Mana represents Ahoada East State Constituency 1 at the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Hon.Manna was received by the state APC Chairman, Hon.Ojukaye Flag Amachree, 2015 Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party, Hon.Asita Honourable, Party Executives and other chieftains of the party in Ahoada axis of the State.

This will certainly be a cheering news to the APC who had lost its member representing Tai State Constituency to the PDP few months ago.

PoliticsGov.okorocha Begged To Rejoin Us But We Rejected Him – APGA National Chairman by Upritman(op): 7:05pm On May 31, 2018
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has been described as a politician that lacks sincerity. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Oye, said it was because of this that the party rejected Okorocha who had shown interest in rejoining the party.

Speaking to some journalist on Thursday in his country home, Amawbia, Awka South Local Government area,Oye described Gov.Okorocha as a worst form of the biblical prodigal son.

He regretted the decision of the party to have given its governorship ticket to Okorocha in 2011 and also denied receiving N3 billion to pave Okorocha’s way back to the party.

According to Oye, “An Igbo proverb says a man who refused to join a ship cannot say he was chased away from the ship. Rochas chased himself away from the APGA ship, and I can tell you that he can never be a member of the party again.

“He won his governorship seat on the platform of APGA, but he took away our members and our mandate and joined APC. He started well in Imo, but immediately he left APGA, he lost vision.

“He is worse than the prodigal son, and that is why we refused to take him back. He was not sincere with his return. He is an unrepentant sinner and APGA cannot take such a man. He is only coming to APGA because his APC ship had left him.”

“He does not fit into APGA. He is not a team player, he acts like Lord of the manor. He is not charismatic, he is not credible either. That is why you see even his fellow governors rejoicing when he was sidetracked by his party men recently,” he said.

“As you can see, we are already working. We will hold a very credible primary election in Imo to ensure that the best candidate emerges. We had 20 aspirants there last month, but right now we have 14 aspirants. Six of them have dropped and we are confident that the best would become our candidate,” he said.

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okorocha, Mr Sam Onwuemedo, however denied that the governor made moves to join APGA.

Suanu’s Blog recalls that Gov.Okorocha was rumoured to be plotting to rejoin his former party, APGA after being played out by some chieftains of the APC in his state during the congresses of the party.

PoliticsCourt Nullifies APC Congresses In Rivers State, Says It Is Fraudulent by Upritman(op): 2:27pm On May 30, 2018
@SuanusBlog

The crises rocking the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress have intensified with the Rivers State High Court holden in Port Harcourt on Wednesday declaring the ward, Local Government and the State congresses of the party null and void.

Suanu's Blog gathered that the ruling was given by Justice C Nwogu, who had earlier issued an order restraining the party from holding the congresses.

Justice Nwogu frowned at the decision of the APC to hold the congresses that were previously barred by the court describing it as contempt. He also accused the party of plotting to arm-twist the judiciary.

Suanu's Blog recalls that the APC national headquarters had rescheduled the Rivers State Congresses for 19th, 20th and 21st of May 2018 after the order by Justice Nwogu.

The crisis in the APC in Rivers State is between supporters of the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Magnus Abe.
Abe is a governorship aspirant of the APC in Rivers State. However, Amaechi who is the leader of the APC in the state has reportedly vowed never to support the governorship of Abe who He had in 2015 also compelled to step down for his preferred aspirant, Dr.Dakuku Peterside.
Dakuku however lost the election to Nyesom Wike of the PDP.

PoliticsEkiti 2018: Legal Move To Disqualify Apc's Fayemi Begins by Upritman(op): 5:10pm On May 21, 2018
@SuanusBlog
As the governorship election in Ekiti State draws near, there are fears that the All Progressives Congress, APC may not be on the ballot or have the opportunity to pose any serious threats to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state. This is due to a renewed move spearheaded by African People’s Party, APP to disqualify the candidate of the APC, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
The African People’s Party, APP which dragged Dr.Fayemi before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting at Bwari, Abuja wants the court to declare Fayemi unqualified to contest the governorship election scheduled to hold in Ekiti State on July 14.
The party’s move is hinged on a report by the Ekiti State Judicial Commission of Inquiry which indicted Dr.Fayemi in a case of 852m UBE/SUBEB Loan he collected when serving as Governor of the state.
Accordingly, the trial Judge, Justice Othman Musa ordered service of hearing notices on both Fayemi and the All Progressives Congress, APC, to enable them to appear in court on June 7 for hearing of the case.
The APP in the suit marked FCT/HC/BW/CV/57/2018 through its lawyer, Mr. Johnmary Jideobi, is praying the court to determine “Whether or not upon a calm reading of Section 182 (1) (i) of the 1999 Constitution as Amended and having regard to the indictment of the 1st Defendant by the Ekiti State Judicial Commission of Inquiry, the 1st Defendant is not Constitutionally disqualified to hold public office especially office of the Governor of Ekiti State of Nigeria? “Whether or not upon a sober reading of Section 182(1) (i) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, a political party [such as the 2nd Defendant herein] can validly sponsor a candidate [such as the 1st Defendant herein] constitutionally disqualified from vying for the office of a Governor of a State?” Against the background of the answer(s) that may be given to the questions of law, the plaintiff, claims the following reliefs from the court, against the Defendants: “A declaration that upon a calm reading of Section 182 (1) (i) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as Amended and having regard to the indictment of the 1st Defendant by the Ekiti State Judicial Commission of Inquiry, the 1st Defendant is Constitutionally disqualified to hold public office especially office of the Governor of Ekiti State of Nigeria. “A solemn declaration that upon a sober reading of Section 182(1) (i) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, a political party [such as the 2nd Defendant herein] cannot validly sponsor a candidate [such as the 1st Defendant herein] constitutionally disqualified from vying for the office of a Governor of a State. “An order of this Honourable Court restraining the 2nd Defendant from either considering, screening, accepting and or sponsoring the 1st Defendant or holding him out as its governorship candidate in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled to be held in Ekiti State of Nigeria on the 14th day of July, 2018”.
The APC through their lawyer, Mr. Rafiu Balogun has however challenged the competence of the suit and urged the court to dismiss it for want of merit.
The legal tussle against Dr.Fayemi’s candidature may just be a plot to technically knock the party out of the crucial contest.

Christianity EtcMost Read: Full Transcript Of Bishop Michael Curry's Royal Wedding Sermon by Upritman(op): 10:00am On May 20, 2018
@SuanusBlog

A trending issue in the world currently is still the royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle which held yesterday.
One of the highpoints of the event was the rousing sermon delivered by the Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, the presiding bishop of the American Episcopal Church, before an audience of millions around the world. (Episcopalianism is the American branch of the worldwide Anglican community; the Queen is the head of the Anglican Church.)
The sermon, entitled “The Power of Love,” was a meditation on the transformative power of love, not only for individuals and families and but for the world. It had a strong theme of social justice, fitting for the wedding of a bride and groom who have placed service at the center of their roles in the royal family.
The full transcript of the most praised and loved wedding sermon reads below:
“And now in the name of our loving liberating and life giving God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen. From the song of Solomon in the bible, set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is as strong as death, passion, fears as the its flashes are flashes of fire, a raging flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods. Drown it out.
The late Dr. Martin Luther king once said and I quote, ‘We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love, and when we do that, we will make of this old world a new world.’
Love is the only way. There's power in love. Don't underestimate it. Don't even over sentimentalize it. There's power, power in love. If you don't believe me, think about a time when you first fell in love. The whole world seemed to center around you and your beloved. Well, there's power, power in love, not just in its romantic forms, but any form, any shape of love.
There's a certain sense in which when you are loved and you know it, when someone cares for you and you know it, when you love and you show it, it actually feels right. There's something right about it. And there's a reason for it. The reason has to do with the source. We were made by a power of love and our lives were meant and are meant to be lived in that love. That's why we are here. Ultimately the source of love is god himself. The source of all of our lives.
There's an old medieval poem that says, where true love is found, god himself is there. The new testament says it this way, beloved, let us love one another because love is of god and those who love are born of god and know god, those who do not love do not know god, why? For god is love. There's power in love. There's power in love to help and heal when nothing else can. There's power in love, to lift up and liberate when nothing else will. There's power in love to show us the way to live. Set me as a seal on your heart. A seal on your arm. For love, it is strong.
But love is not only about a young couple. Now the power of love is demonstrated by the fact that we're all here. Two young people fell in love and we all showed up. But it's not just for and about a young couple who we rejoice with. It's more than that. Jesus of Nazareth on one occasion was asked by a lawyer the sum of the essence of the teachings of Moses and he went back and reached back into the Hebrew scriptures and Jesus said, ‘you shall love the lord, your god, with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength. This is the first and great commandment.’
And the second is like it. Love your neighbor as yourself. And then in Matthews' version, he added, he said on these two, love of god and love of neighbor, hang all the law, all the prophets, everything that Moses wrote, everything in the holy prophets, everything in the scriptures, everything that god has been trying to tell the world, love god. Love your neighbors. And while you're at it, love yourself.
Someone once said that Jesus began most revolutionary movement in all of human history, a movement grounded in the unconditional love of god for the world. And a movement mandating people to live that love. And in so doing, to change not only their lives but the very life of the world itself. I'm talking about some power, real power, power to change the world.
If you don't believe me, well, there were some old slaves in America's antebellum south who explained the dynamic power of love and why it has the power, they explained it this way, they sang a spiritual, even in the midst of their captivity, something that can make things right, to make the wounded whole.
“There is a balm in Gilead to heal the soul. They said if you cannot preach like Peter and you cannot pray like Paul, you just tell the love of Jesus how he died to save us all. Oh, that's the balm in Gilead.”
He didn't die for anything he could get out of it. Jesus did not get an honorary doctorate for dying. He didn't—he wasn't getting anything out of it. He gave up his life. He sacrificed his life for the good of others, for the good of the other, for the well-being of the world, for us.
That's what love is. Love is not selfish and self-centered. Love can be sacrificial, and in so doing, becomes redemptive. And that way of unselfish sacrificial redemptive love, changes lives and it can change this world.
If you don't believe me, just stop and think and imagine, think and imagine, well, think and imagine a world where love is the way. Imagine our homes and families when love is the way. Imagine neighborhoods and communities where love is the way. Imagine governments and nations where love is the way. Imagine business and commerce when love is the way. Imagine this tired old world when love is the way.
When love is the way, unselfish, sacrificial, redemptive, when love is the way, then no child will go to bed hungry in this world ever again. When love is the way, we will let justice roll down like a mighty stream and righteousness like an ever-flowing brook. When love is the way, poverty will become history. When love is the way, the Earth will be a sanctuary. When love is the way, we will lay down our swords and shields, down by the riverside, to study war no more. When love is the way, there's plenty good room, plenty good room, for all of god's children because when love is the way, we actually treat each other well, like we are actually family. When love is the way, we know that god is the source of us all and we are brothers and sisters, children of god. My brothers and sisters, that's a new heaven, a new Earth, a new world, a new human family.
And let me tell you something, old Solomon was right in the Old Testament, there's fire. With this I will sit down. We got to get you all married. The French Jesuit was one of the great minds and spirits of the 20th century, a Roman Catholic priest, scientist, a scholar, a mystic, in some of his writings he said from his scientific background as well as his theological one, some of his writings, he said, as others have, that the discovery or invention or harnessing of fire was one of the great, one of the great scientific and technological discoveries in all of human history.
Fire, to a great extent, made human civilization possible. Fire, made it possible to cook food and to provide sanitary ways of eating, which reduced the spread of disease in its time. Fire made it possible to heat warm environments and thereby made human migration around the world a possibility, even into colder climates. Fire made it possible—there is no—there was no Bronze Age without fire. No Iron Age without fire. No Industrial Revolution without fire. The advances of science and technology are greatly dependent on the human ability and capacity to take fire and use it for human good.
Anybody get here in a car today? An automobile? Nod your heads if you did. I'm guessing—I know there were some carriages. But those of us who came in cars, fire, the controlled harnessed fire, made that possible. Now that the Bible says and I believe that Jesus walked on the water, but I have to tell you, I didn't walk across the Atlantic Ocean to get here. Controlled fire in that plane got me here. Fire makes it possible for us to text and tweet and e-mail and Instagram and Facebook and socially be dysfunctional with each other. Fire makes all of that possible.
And he said, fire was one of the greatest discoveries in all of human history. He then went on to say, if humanity ever harnesses the energy of fire again, if humanity ever captures the energy of love, it will be the second time in history that we have discovered fire.
Dr. King was right. We must discover love. The redemptive power of love and when we do that, we will make of this old world a new world. My brother, my sister, god love you, god bless you, and my god hold us all in those all mighty hands of love.” Amen
