The General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman has revealed that the tough decision of the American President, Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli Capital was a perfect fulfillment of one of his prophecies for the year 2017.

The fiery prophet recalls that the bold step by the American Government was his 24th prophecy for the outgoing year.
The preacher who stated this on his official twitter handle wrote:

“My prophecy no.24 for 2017 was ‘Jerusalem will become Capital of Israel. American Embassy will be moved there’. Donald Trump just ordered it” he tweeted.

Suanu’s Blog recalls that president Trump had in a state broadcast on December 6 recognized Jerusalem as the new Capital of Israel and ordered a new US Embassy to be constructed there; an action that angered Muslims worldwide.

Popular Catholic Priest, Rev.Fr.Ejike Mbaka has denied earlier media reports quoting him to have endorsed the 2019 presidential ambition of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Mbaka who is the Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry, Enugu Nigeria ‎said the originators of the report were out to cause mischief.
In his reaction on Saturday, Mbaka said:

“I read the report about my support for Atiku with bitterness in my heart as I can see how wicked and evil some people could be.

“Those who are impersonating my names wickedly and politically must be careful. People must fear God and respect His anointed. Whoever is trying to use my name to support or promote Atiku’s political exploits is attracting God’s wrath to himself or herself.

“For now, I have never spoken neither for nor against Atiku. God has shown me nothing about him. Neither in the public nor in the secret have I said what the reporter claimed. When? Where? With whom? and under what platform did the mendacious and wicked reporter hear or see me talk about Atiku?”

Mbaka said if those behind the report failed to do the needful, “I will take action against such vulturous and satanic character assassins who have been working hard to destroy my reputation or make me a false prophet.

“I am busy with the work of God and I am now in a deeper contemplative encounter with the Awesome God.

“My concerns now are the healings, deliverances, blessings, breakthroughs etc of my people. I don’t talk carelessly. I speak when God has given me a word. For now, God has not revealed anything about Atiku Abubakar”.

In a similar development, the Media and Legal Adviser, Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria, Ike Maximus Ugwuoke, added that “Fr Mbaka has been committed to the on-going 2017 crusade of Awesome Miracles from the Awesome God in the ministry which started last Wednesday where Adoration worshipers have been giving awesome testimonies.

“He has not been seen or heard in any other public or private forum where he could have made such declarations as claimed by the reporter.

“He is such a courageous man of God whose messages are always dubbed in video CDs for all who care to watch and listen no matter whose ox is gored.

“None of those declarations as contained in the said media report was Fr Mbaka’s. We challenge the fabricator of that report to produce the proof or evidence to back up their claim or recant the publication forthwith else he should brace up to face the consequence of his impersonating and mendacious report.”

Supporters of Atiku nationwide have greeted the news with massive excitement.

Atiku who is now a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is believed to be the favourite presidential candidate of the party in the 2019 General Elections.

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC may be dragged to court soon following a threat by the Council of Chiefs from Koniju Town in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State. The threat of the council is due to an alleged insult by the party on their monarch, His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Tom.
Suanu's Blog recalls that the coronation of Ateke Tom as king in his community few weeks ago has been greeted with mixed reactions by the public following his personality as a former dreaded Niger Delta Militant.

The chiefs who alleged that the APC denigrated and defamed the character of their monarch when the party was led in a Pro-SARS rally by its 2015 deputy governorship candidate, Hon.Osita Honourable with youths carrying banners with an inscription; ‘Wike is making Criminals King’ is demanding an apology to its king who they believe the banners were targeted at or face legal action.
Chairman of the town’s Council of Chiefs, Chief Chris Opuayaraya, in a statement explained that it was painful to observe that the banner where such statement was written had the photographs of King Ateke Tom and the state governor.
He warned that they would seek redress in court should the party fail to apologise and retract such statement without delay.
“As if that was not enough, the defeated deputy governorship candidate of APC in the 2015 election in Rivers State, Hon. Asita O. Asita’s speech was also heard on radio and corroborated with inscription on the flex banner.
“We, the Chiefs, elders and people of Okochiri Kingdom and indeed the entire Wakirike ethnic nationality wholly condemn in strongest terms the damaging, malicious, provocative and insulting inscription targeted to maligning and denting the hard-earned reputation of our monarch.
“We view the act as sacrilegious, inciting and intended to demean not only the image of our well respected traditional stool and its occupant, but also a great disrespect and disservice to the people of Okochiri Kingdom, who after a thorough selection, picked His Royal Majesty to ascend this exalted ancient throne,” he stated.
The Council of Chiefs, further warned that the people would not allow any political party, community or organization to humiliate them or denigrate their traditional stool.

Meanwhile a member of the APC in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Darlington Nwauju while reacting to the threat dared them to seek redress in a law court, describing their demand for apology as ‘misplaced’.
“The flex banners used that day never mentioned the name of Ateke Tom. It was an open ended stated statement. We are aware that there are several chiefs and kings in the state.
“Moereover, they cannot prove it in court that the banner referred to Ateke Tom. I hope they will not resort to self-help” he said.

No doubt the Jonathan administration witnessed the peak of the Boko Haram insurgency with scores of Nigerians killed in daily basis and many towns and cities in Nigeria taken over by the terrorists. A troubled President Jonathan in a dare dilemma opted for a foreign loan worth One billion Naira to acquire military hardware to tackle security challenges which was targeted to be paid over seven years.

The lawmakers having considered the request by the then president formally approved it. Mr. Jonathan in a letter to the senate had said the $1 billion will also be used to train the military and other security officers.
“You are no doubt cognisant of the ongoing and serious security challenges which the nation is facing, as typified by the Boko Haram terrorist threat. This is an issue that we have discussed at various times.
“I would like to bring to your attention the urgent need to upgrade the equipment, training and logistics of our Armed Forces and Security services to enable them more forcefully confront this serious threat.
“For this reason, I seek the concurrence o the National Assembly for external borrowing of not more than $1 billion dollars including government to government arrangements for this upgrade,”.

The ultimate aim of the loan was obviously defeated as Boko Haram grew tremendously under Jonathan’s tenure posing serious threats to Nigeria.
Upon the assumption of office by President Buhari, many of the sum that was earmarked to facilitate the war against insurgency was cornered into financing the 2015 presidential reelection bid of Good luck Jonathan for which some of which former aides are currently standing trial.

As another electioneering year draws near, Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki after Thursday FEC meeting announced the approval of $1 billion from the Excess Crude Account by the federal government to be used in the prosecution of the war against the terrorist group, Boko Haram.

This announcement has been heavily criticised by Nigerians following unending claims by the Buhari Government that Boko Haram has been degraded, remaining its remnants. Nigerians are therefore asking if a huge sum of $1bn is what is needed to completely wipe off the remnants of a terrorist group or another ploy to finance the 2019 General Elections by the ruling APC Government.

Following the recent raid on the mansion of a notorious militant from Rivers State, [url]Prince[/url] Ejima Igwedibia, a.k.a Don Wanni, by men of the​ Nigeria Army and a local Security Outfit, suspected members of his gang has vowed to unleash terror on residents leaving in his Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the State. This has prompted some oil contracting firms to threaten to leave the area.
The boys said their threat would become real if their master (Don Wanni) was not allowed to move freely.

Southern City News reports that a senior official of Deanl’s Oil Servicing Company, Dr. Samuel Onyije, explained that they were considering relocating from the area as a result of the threat by suspected cult boys loyal to Don Wanni.

Onyije explained that 300 hundred persons would be thrown into the labour market should the firm leave its current base in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA.

“It is becoming very tough here (ONELGA). When soldiers came, they made some arrest and left. But the boys are still there; the boys are connected to Don Wanni
.
“The boys are saying Don Wanni should be given freedom to continue to do what he has been doing. They are threatening and that is why some firms are thinking of leaving.

“Our company is a very large one that is doing contract work with Agip, Total and Niger Delta Petroleum Resources. If we leave, about 300 persons will lose their jobs, he said.

Onyije, however, called on the Federal Government to beef security within the area to ensure the protection of lives and property within Omoku, the headquarters of the area and its environs.

“The Federal Government should come and beef up security in the area. Omoku is fast becoming another thing,” Onyije added.

A senior staff of another firm in the area, who does not want his name mentioned for fear of being targeted by cult members, said, “They (cultists) have threatened to attack the area if Don Wanni is not allowed freedom.

“That is why many of us are afraid and we are thinking that we may relocate because the threat from these boys is real,”

Suanu's Blog recalls that Don Wanni had escaped with bullet wounds when soldiers raided his shrine while searching for him after the killing of four persons in the area. Although Don Wanni is a beneficiary of the amnesty granted by the State Government, he has constantly been accused of masterminding kidnapping and killing of innocent persons within Omoku, a development that made security agencies to go after him.

During the raid on Don Wanni's Mansion and shrine, 10 human skulls, some arms and ammunition among other items were discovered.

Following a media report linked to an alleged nephew of Sen.Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso identified as Musa Ilyasu who claimed that the former Kano State Governor has directed all his Supporters across the country to defect from the APC to the PDP, the Senator has described the alleged directive as utter falsehood.

Kwankwaso in a statement yesterday by his media aide, Binta Spikin said he was horrified by the report, describing it as blatant lies. He also lambasted Daily Trust Newspaper for acting in such an unprofessional way and spreading the falsehood.
"When did Musa Iliyasu become the spokesperson of Senator Kwankwaso that is worth the attention of a reputable paper like the Trust? This is not acceptable, by any standard.
"Trust should learn to source its stories. When it needs news from the Kwankwasiyya fold, it should contact its various members either through the formal or informal channels. We are ready to oblige you. This misrepresentation of fact, especially on Senator Kwankwaso has to stop," she said.

Suanu's Blog recalls that the rumour of Kwankwaso's defection had followed the resignation of former vice president Atiku Abubakar from the APC. Both Atiku and Kwankwaso were among other PDP Members who moved to the APC ahead of the 2015 General Elections and are believed to be aggrieved.

There are so many misconceptions about HIV/AIDS. Many of these have led to so much misinformation which have ended up increasing the spread of the virus or resulted in stigmatization and discrimination which are inimical to the survival of any infected persons.

In commemoration of the World AIDS Day, Suanu’s Blog highlights twenty-seven of those basic myths about HIV/AIDS. In no particular order, they include;

1. MYTH: Sweat, tears, urine or faeces of someone who has HIV can transmit the virus
REALITY: False. There is no HIV in an infected person’s sweat, tears, urine or faeces.

2. MYTH: Mutual masturbation can lead to one contacting HIV
REALITY: False. Mutual masturbation, fingering and hand-jobs are all safe from HIV. However, if you use intimacy gadgets make sure you use a new condom on them when switching between partners.

3. MYTH: Insects like mosquitoes can transmit HIV
REALITY: False. You cannot get HIV from insects. When an insect (such as a mosquito) bites you it sucks your blood – it does not inject the blood of the last person it bit.

4. MYTH: One can get HIV from Animals
REALITY: False. HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, which means that the infection can only be passed on between humans.

5. MYTH: HIV is Airborne
HIV cannot survive in the air so coughing, sneezing or spitting cannot transmit HIV.

6. MYTH: New or sterilised needles can transmit HIV

REALITY: False. New needles cannot transmit HIV because they haven’t been in the body of an infected person. If used needles are cleaned and sterilised properly they can’t transmit HIV either.

7. MYTH: One can get HIV through Water

REALITY: False. HIV can’t survive in water, so you won’t get HIV from swimming pools, baths, shower areas, washing clothes or from drinking water.

8. MYTH: Food and cooking utensils can transmit HIV

REALITY: False.
HIV can’t be passed on through food or cooking utensils even if the person preparing your food is living with HIV.

9. MYTH: Toilet seats, tables, door handles, cutlery, sharing towels can transmit HIV
REALITY: False. HIV doesn’t survive on surfaces, so you can’t get HIV from any of these.

10. MYTH: Musical instruments can transmit HIV
REALITY: False. HIV can’t survive on musical instruments. Even if it is an instrument that you play using your mouth, it can’t give you HIV.

11. MYTH: Touching Used condoms can infect one with HIV
REALITY: False. HIV can only survive for a really short amount of time outside of the body. Even if the condom had sperm from an HIV-positive person in it, the HIV would be dead.

12. MYTH: Kissing can put you at risk of HIV infection
REALITY: False. There is such a small amount of HIV in the saliva of a person living with HIV that the infection can’t be passed on from kissing.

13. MYTH: MouthAction can lead to HIV
REALITY: False. The risk of HIV from MouthAction is very small unless you or your partner have large open sores on the genital area or bleeding gums/sores in your mouth.
There is only a slightly increased risk if a woman being given MouthAction is HIV positive and is menstruating. However, you can always use a dental dam to eliminate these risks.

14. MYTH: Tattoos and piercings can lead to HIV infection
REALITY: False. There is only a risk if the needle used by the professional has been used in the body of an HIV-infected person and not sterilised afterwards. However, most practitioners are required to use new needles for each new client.

15. MYTH: You can get HIV just by being around HIV-positive individuals in your daily life.
REALITY: False. HIV is transmitted when infected material (blood, semen, vaginal fluid, breast milk) comes in direct contact with a mucous membrane (mouth, vagina, anus), damaged tissue, or is injected directly into the bloodstream. Touching someone who has HIV will not give you the virus. HIV can’t survive outside of the body so you won’t get HIV from touching someone, hugging them or shaking their hand.

16. MYTH: HIV can be cured.
REALITY: False. There is no cure for HIV. With treatment, HIV-positive individuals can control the virus and live long, healthy lives. With the appropriate medication and treatment regimen, HIV-positive individuals can lower the amount of HIV in their system to “undetectable” levels, however the virus is still present. There is one case where an individual, Timothy Brown, has been seemingly cured of HIV, but little is understood about this case and no study has been able to replicate the results.

17. MYTH: HIV is a gay man’s disease.
REALITY: False. Here’s the truth, HIV does not discriminate against age, race, gender, sexual orientation, class, or any other identifier. The epidemic of the 1980s centered largely around gay men, and gay/bisexual men are still impacted by HIV at rates higher than heterosexual individuals. However, heterosexual women, in particular women of color, represent one of the fastest-growing rates of infection in the United States. To believe that HIV only impacts gay men is to ignore the truth of the epidemic and puts you and others at risk.

18. MYTH: Being diagnosed with HIV is a death sentence.
REALITY: False. When the epidemic rose to national consciousness in the United States in the 1980s, little was understood about the virus, how it was transmitted, or how to treat it. As a result of this lack of knowledge, combined with the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS, many of those who were diagnosed died. More than 30 years’ worth of research later, things have changed dramatically. Not only do we understand how the virus functions, we have gotten much better at treating it. For some individuals who test positive, there is the possibility of taking one pill, once a day to manage their HIV. People living with HIV can live long, healthy, productive lives by following their medication and treatment regimen. For individuals who do not have HIV, we have to learn the facts and help end the stigma that still exists some 30 years later.

19. MYTH: It is the sole responsibility of HIV-positive individuals to initiate safe sex.
REALITY: False. You and you alone are in charge of your own sexual health. It is the responsibility of each and every individual, regardless of their HIV status, to set boundaries, identify limits, and implement the safe sex strategies that they have chosen for themselves. These strategies might include: condom use, PrEP, testing, etc. Even if you do not have HIV, you are responsible for maintaining the many aspects of your sexual health.

20. MYTH: Promiscuity and drug addiction are the root cause of the HIV epidemic.
REALITY: False. This myth is a particularly damaging one. While unprotected sex and IV drug use are the two most common forms of HIV transmission, there is far more to the equation than these two variables. Buying into this myth implies that you think every person with HIV/AIDS (of the 36.9 million living with HIV/AIDS globally) is either carelessly promiscuous or addicted to drugs. That is problematic on a number of levels, as it also implies that you believe HIV is a punishment for these behaviors. In reality, preventing HIV is not as simple as promoting abstinence and refraining from drug use. Stigma, policing behaviors, and preventing education around safer sex and drug use practices are actually far more detrimental to prevention efforts. If we cannot have conversations about sex and drug use at all, how can we talk about how to create a safer culture? Is it any wonder, then, that one in seven people living with HIV don’t know they have the virus?

21. MYTH: I’m married/in a monogamous relationship so there’s no point in getting tested or using condoms.
REALITY: False. Knowing your status and your partner’s status on an ongoing basis is the only way to know for sure whether you are at risk of contracting HIV or other STIs. Unfortunately, we can only control our own behavior. While we never want to think about infidelity in the context of a monogamous relationship, the reality is sometimes this happens. Couples in monogamous relationships can think of testing as an exercise in building trust and expressing love for their partner. We see many couples who have been together for years who come to LAS for testing an annual or bi-annual basis.

22. MYTH: Having sex with someone who is HIV positive means you will contract HIV.
REALITY: False. Our understanding of HIV has come a long way with over 35 years of research, and with it, so has our understanding of how to prevent HIV transmission. Having sex with someone who is HIV-positive while you are negative and staying negative is completely possible. By learning the facts about transmission, risk factors, and preventative measures, individuals with mixed HIV statuses can have healthy, hot sexual lives while reducing the risk of transmission. Used properly, condoms reduce the chance of transmission by over 90%. Add to that an HIV-positive partner with an undetectable viral load and the knowledge of sexual risk factors and you have all you need to have great, safe sex.

23. MYTH: I can tell if someone is HIV-positive.
REALITY: False. No, you cannot. One in seven people living with HIV don’t even know they are infected. There is no way to look at a person and determine whether they have HIV or another STD. Oftentimes, when people make this statement, they are implying that someone’s behaviors can reveal their HIV status. This is also false. While some behaviors are riskier than others in terms of HIV transmission and infection, there is only one way to know your status or another person’s and that is to test and have open conversation. It is, in fact, the stigma and sweeping of these conversations and topics under the proverbial rug that keep fueling the epidemic. If you want to know your own status, get tested. If you want to know someone else’s status, ask and encourage them to get tested. These conversations are what will help us end the epidemic.

24. MYTH: PrEP is an excuse for people to have unprotected sex.
REALITY: False. There is a lot of miscommunication out there about PrEP and its intended use. PrEP is an excellent tool to help prevent HIV infection and it is something someone can elect to take for a number of reasons. For example, if one partner in a relationship is positive, the negative partner may elect to take PrEP as an extra preventative measure. Individuals who know they are engaging in higher risk behaviors may also elect to take PrEP as a preventative measure. PrEP has proven to dramatically reduce the chance of HIV transmission and infection, but it does not protect against other STDs, and so it is recommended as an addition to condom use and other prevention strategies.

25. MYTH: My partner and I are both positive so we don’t need to use condoms.
REALITY: False. If both partners are positive, it may make sense to think that you don’t need to use condoms, but there are several things to consider. First and foremost, a regiment of antiretroviral therapy (ART) will not protect you from unwanted pregnancy or other STDs. Condoms will. Additionally, it is possible for an HIV-positive individual to become infected with a second strain of HIV, which is called HIV reinfection. Being infected with another strain of HIV could potentially cause regiment failure and send your treatment plan into a spiral.

26. MYTH: I’m too old to worry about something like HIV.
REALITY: False. HIV does not discriminate against age, gender, race, sexual orientation, class, or any other identifier. Age doesn’t stop people from having sex and if you are having sex, then you are at some risk of contracting HIV or other STDs. In fact, research shows that individuals infected later in life are more likely to be diagnosed at a later/more progressive stage of the virus. The same goes for STDs. In fact, reports show that STD and HIV infections are on the rise for people over 50 because of this myth.

27. MYTH: Being HIV-positive means I can never have children.
REALITY: False. Yes, HIV is spread via unprotected sex, but as our understanding of the virus has grown, so has our understanding of how to prevent transmission. It is possible for you to still have children while living with HIV. There are several different options to consider for conception depending on which partner is positive.

A most dreaded and notorious militant leader in Omoku, Rivers State, known as Ejima Igwe Dibia also known as “Don wanni” who was alleged to have been killed following a raid on his mansion has spoken from his hiding indicating that he is still much alive.

Suanu's Blog recalls that a raid involving security operatives and a local security security in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area known as OSPAC had sparked rumours that the dreaded militant had been killed and wide jubilation in the state.

After the raid several items including 10 human skulls, various human bones, 2 AK-47 Rifles, 1 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), 18 AK-47 Rifle Magazines, 4 pairs of military camouflage, 5 camouflage T-Shirts, 3 Fabrique Nationale (FN) Rifle Rifle magazines, 39 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 1 round of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, 2 bags weighing about 25kg containing substances believed to Cannabis (Marijuana), 3 ICOM Hand-held Radios and 2 MAG ONE Hand-held Radios were said to have been recovered according to a statement by the army. The statement had also cleared the air that the dreaded militant was not killed the raid.

While the military continues to search for Don Wanni, the militant spoke from his unknown destination yesterday on a radio program in PortHarcourt. He dismissed all the allegations against him as false. He accused the military of looting his money and property while his mansion was raided in his absence including the killing of some people in his compound who he described as innocent.

Don Wanni also accused the OSPAC of implanting the human skulls in his compound just to implicate him.
He insisted that having accepted the amnesty granted by Gov.Wike, that he was not involved in any criminal act again.

He however vowed to revenge the death of his men as well as the looting and destruction of his property.

In all of these, it may interest you to know that the Rivers State Government was yet to officially respond to the raid, alleged death of Mr.Don Wanni or his whereabouts.

The remains of eight years old Miss Victory Chikamso Nmezuwuba who was raped, killed and her body parts removed for ritual purposes by a twenty three old undergraduate of the University of Port Harcourt, Ifeanyi Dike will be buried this Thursday 30th November, 2017 in her father's compound in Imo State.
The father of the deceased Dr. Ernest Nmezuwuba made this known on Tuesday on a radio programme in PortHarcourt that was monitored by Suanu's Blog.

He further revealed that against earlier confessional statement by the killer Ifeanyi, autopsy report conducted on his daughter indicate that she was actually strangled to death before her essential body parts were removed.
He lamented that his family has been facing severe challenges including security risks after the sad incident. While demanding justice for his innocent daughter, he also called on the government and well-spirited Nigerians to come to the aid of his family in this challenging period.

Following the resignation of former vice president Atiku Abubakar from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, last week President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his sympathy to the party at the development.



Buhari sarcastically reacted to Atiku’s exit from the party on Monday while inaugurating a 30-member new minimum wage committee at the State House, Abuja.

Mr. Buhari, while making routine greetings before his remarks at the event, turned to the National Chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, and said “accept my sympathy for losing a senior member of your party”.



Although, the Buhari did not specifically mention Atiku’s name, it is a common knowledge that he must have been making reference to the Waziri of Adamawa.

Atiku had blamed Buhari’s failures for his latest political decision. He is yet to officially declare for another party, although rumours are endingly linking him to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

When the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was formed in 1998 and considering all that transpired before 2015, little would the founders or any of its ardent members believe that the nicknamed “biggest party in Africa” would be dislodged shamefully from power by a man known as a “serial presidential election loser”. But today the rest is history which I wouldn’t want to bring up as at least the recent is still fresh in the memories of many politically conscious Nigerians.
The reality is that PDP didn’t only lose the presidency to the All Progressives Congress, APC but also lost majority of its controlled states and legislative seats. Three quick things that favoured the APC was its merger arrangement, the huge northern followership that Buhari commands and the abysmal corruption and failures of the PDP years.
While many people are of the opinion that the PDP has so far failed Nigerians in constantly keeping the APC Government in check as an opposition party through constructive criticisms, others see it as impossible for the PDP to return so soon to power. They are of the strong opinion that the PDP still needs at least same 16 years to fully learn their lessons before having a chance to win back the presidency.
However, the disappointment of Nigerians who tagged the Buhari Government as a messianic administration and the similar failures of the current APC Government may just accelerate the return of the PDP to the centre, either to prove that they have “changed” or for vengeance and further looting.
Whichever is the case, Suanu’s Blog hereby considers nine (9) things that the PDP can do to increase their chances of returning to the presidency as the 2019 General Elections approach.

1. Zoning: This is a peculiar practice in Nigeria’s political lexicon. Although some democracy advocates consider the act as undemocratic as it denies some other constitutionally qualified aspirants from seeking political office at a particular time, zoning still remains a sure way of ensuring justice, fairness and equity in distribution or rotation of political offices in Nigeria especially between the south and north or among the major ethnic groups as the case may be.
Imagine a situation where zoning is expunged from our political sphere, it means the number of groups and people who complain about political marginalization will skyrocket as the north will always have their way since politics is a game of numbers.
Flashing back to the 2015 General Election, you would agree with me that a key factor that handed over Nigeria’s presidency to the then General Muhammadu Buhari was his strategic northern region with their Chinese Population. So if zoning for any democratic consideration is expunged, it means with any little support from any other region in the country, the north will continue to rule us.
Back to the PDP, zoning isn’t new to the party; however, the desperation of ex-president Goodluck Jonathan derailed that principle which contributed to the failure of the party. The right way the PDP must go if they want to pose a serious threat to the ruling APC is to zone its presidential ticket to the northern part of the country which she has done.
Not just zoning it to the north, but the party must ensure that the candidate emerges from core north. Not just core north the party must also ensure that the candidate is a muslim. Not just a muslim, the party must also ensure that the candidate is a “first class” muslim. Other considerations include that the candidate must be wealthy, less scandalous, command great followership in the north and should be some one that will stand a greater chance of been accepted by Nigerians in other parts of the country.
Another important thing the party must do is to zone its vice presidential ticket to a populated part of the south that is sympathetic to the return course of the party. This will increase their victory chances.

2. Stop Imposition of Candidates: If there is one act that has so far characterized the existence of PDP then its imposition of candidates or direct fraud orchestrated by party leaders to favour particular candidates against others. Anointing of candidates is undemocratic and is a practice that the party must do away with. Just recently, the governorship primary election of the party that held in Anambra State was also faced with same challenge as the likes of Dr.Ifeanyi Ubah and Sen.Stella Oduah have consistently blamed former governor Peter Obi for imposing Obaze on the party as well as doctoring the delegates list. This grievance which the party national leadership has also condoned has made many of its aggrieved aspirants to sleep off the ongoing campaign and may affect the chances of the party in the November poll.
If PDP wants to be taken seriously in the 2019 polls, then the party must take bold steps in enshrining internal democracy in its process and practices. The influence of godfathers must be curtailed and the party must ensure transparent, free, fair and credible processes in its dealings with her members.

3. Embark On Full Reconciliation: The over fourteen months crises that bedeviled the party have caused more damages to the party that could have been imagined. Unfortunately, even after the Supreme Court saved the party from death, the headaches of the party have refused to abate as its members nationwide have continued to defect to other political parties and some state chapters of the party still embroiled in unending crises and legal tussles. The Makarfi-led national caretaker committee has not done enough to ensure lasting peace in the party after its side was victorious from the Supreme Court. A particular case of concern is the fact that he made no conscious efforts to reach out to the party members who were loyal to sheriff. Before his defection to the APC, Sheriff’s deputy, Ojougbo had lamented over the treatment melted on them by the Makrafi-led party.
To avoid more defections of pending aggrieved members across the states, the party must intensify its reconciliation efforts and make it as genuine and encompassing as possible. A fully reconciled PDP will make it more united for the 2019 political battle.

4. Merging With Other Opposition Parties: A key decision that catapulted the current ruling party to the presidency was its merger arrangement. Even while the PDP took the merger announcement as a joke boasting that it won’t still work, the rest is now history. If the party must succeed at the 2019 or subsequent elections, then the party must begin to seek either a formidable alliance with other opposition parties or go for a strategic merger arrangement. As many as ten vibrant opposition parties with nationwide structures should be considered and brought to the table. And this must be done before the 2019 general elections. If the PDP thinks she can win the 2019 presidential election as it is currently, then that’s an obesed lie.

5. Wooing Its Aggrieved Members Who Defected: The PDP must make serious efforts to reach out to its aggrieved members who defected ahead of the 2015 general elections and even those who might have defected recently. Their grievances must be heard and genuine efforts made towards addressing those issues or concerns raised. With the health issues of President Buhari appearing over, there is a possibility that his party will still want him to fly the party’s flag again. This will certainly put some former PDP members with a presidential ambition at a disadvantaged position. A few of those likely to be affected include former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Senator Bukola Saraki. Getting some of its key members back to its fold with all their supporters will surely increase the party’s chances at the 2019 polls.

6. Capitalizing On the Current Mistakes Of The APC Government: President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC rode on huge promises and expectations of the public to the Aso Villa. However, on getting there, Buhari once confessed that He was overwhelmed by what he called the “rot” he saw in the system. He had continued with unending excuses for His failures and has left no opportunity at blaming his predecessor especially the era of former President Goodluck Jonathan. The party itself has taken to series of denials even of promises out rightly stated in its manifesto which is a public document.
Although the PDP has so far not performed up to expectation in its opposition role to constructively engage and criticize the APC administration, if she wants to be taken serious in 2019, then the party should start digging deep into the failures of the current government, expose them nakedly to Nigerians and give Nigerians hope of better days ahead if the party is given a return opportunity.

7. Enhancing Party Rewarding System For Members: The past sixteen years reign of the party have been characterized by complaints by some of its members, many of who complain of being neglected after making contributions at different levels to the successes of the party. After each election, a select few have always been at the receiving end while the rest are abandoned perhaps till the next electioneering time begins. If the party wants to be given a chance again, it must put in place an equitable rewarding system in which all members benefit from the party. An assurance in this regard will spur members of the party to work diligently to ensure the party reclaims its lost territories in the 2019 polls.

8. Changing Its Name: Although some people believe there is more to a name someone or something is given as it can affect its actual characteristics, it is not always the case in all circumstances as some people or things are given good names but act in the negation. An average Nigerian feels there is something fundamentally wrong with the name PDP. Mere mention of the name provokes thoughts of misgovernance, corruption, underdevelopment, impunity and other anti-state tendencies. Although in reality, it is the people in a party that make up the party, the case of PDP ordinary seems a double calamity. Suanu’s Blog is of the opinion that the party should also consider changing its name as part of its internal restructuring efforts. If it buys into point #4 of ensuring a merger, then its current name must not be retained, it MUST be done away with and a new name that may bring new fortunes and improved public image adopted which must not reflect any of the former ills the party was known for.

9. Apologizing To Nigerians, Learning From Its Past Mistakes: To say PDP and its leaders raped Nigeria to rupture is simply to say the least. Critically reviewing the 16 years reign of the party, and comparing that with how much accrued to the country and the practical things achieved, one can never say the PDP performed with a conscience at all. While it won’t be in national interest to raise a decaying carcass, the party and its entire current leadership must be courageous enough to face Nigerians and apologise with all sincerity over the missed opportunities and how the nation’s resources were massively mismanaged under its rule. The apology must be backed up by voluntary return of stolen funds by its members to the national treasury. It is on this genuine apologetic note that some Nigerians may consider supporting the party again.

After this, the party must review its previous acts, accept and learn from its mistakes and ensure they don’t return Nigeria to its dark era again if given another opportunity again.

The decision of former Nigerian Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to resign from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and his most expected return to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have been described as another grave mistake which may end his political career.

This was stated by an associate of Atiku, Mr. Ahmed Lawan. Lawan who is the Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State cautioned Atiku to have a rethink and look deeply before leaping this time.
He said, “He (Atiku) told the whole world that he was in the APC to stay, and that even if anything would make him to leave the APC, he would retire from politics. He is making a grave mistake because Buhari has yet to make any statement as to whether he will contest the 2019 presidential election or not. So, why is he in a haste?”

Lawan also confirmed that Atiku Abubakar might pick up his membership card of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He said Atiku would formally register as a member of the PDP at his Jada ward 11, in Yola, the state capital.

According to Him Atiku’s return to his former party was based on the motivation he received from the PDP leadership towards the realisation of his ambition to contest the 2019 presidential election.

A student of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Univeristy in Bauchi State has allegedly committed suicide.
Students and staff of the Gubi Campus of the University were shocked when they found the body of the deceased hanging on a tree in the early hours of Friday.

It was however unclear if the student either hung himself or he was hanged up by another set of people.

The University as well as the state command of the Nigeria Police were yet to officially respond to the sad event as at the time of filing this report.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir Elrufai has reacted to the resignation of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Elrufai speaking with State House reporters on Friday after joining Buhari in observing juma'at at the Presidential Villa mosque said even if the Presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party is given to Atiku, He is not a threat to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.

He said the APC was not surprised at the news of Atiku's resignation as the party knew that He would quit the APC in December, stressing that it was better he left earlier than planned.

El-rufai expressed confidence that no APC governor, not even Jibrilla Bindo of Atiku's home state of Adamawa State, would join the former vice president.
He said Atiku was known as a serial defector and presidential aspirant.
El-rufai said he had in 2014 told Atiku in Dubai that no northern politician in the entire north was as popular as Buhari.

Ahead of the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scheduled to hold on December 9, there are indications that some of its aggrieved members are perfecting plans to hold a parallel convention.

This move according to the PDP national publicity secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye was a plot aimed at creating division and rubbishing the party.

Adeyeye stated this at a press conference yesterday at the party's national secretariat in Abuja.

Although he refused to mention the names of those behind the move, he however claimed that they were working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The intrigues surrounding the roles the party leadership and some Governors of the party were playing regarding who will emerge as the new national chairman of the party have been raising more acrimony in the camp of some Chairmanship aspirants of the party. Some of the aggrieved aspirants have already accused Makarfi of working to install his stooge as National Chairman so as to achieve his Presidential ambition with ease. The party in a statement had however denied knowledge of any Presidential ambition by its current caretaker committee chairman.

After series of defection-denials and unending criticisms of the APC Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, a former Vice President and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has announced that he has dumped the party.
Atiku’s latest decision was contained in a statement released by his media team yesterday in Abuja, the Nigerian Capital.
Atiku, who is the Waziri of Adamawa said he dumped the APC because:
1. He was deceived into joining the APC with false promises as the party has failed in meeting all his basic expectations and democratic principles.
2. The APC has taken to arbitrariness and unconstitutionality that led to fractionalization of his former party, the PDP.
3. The APC has instituted a regime of a draconian clampdown on all forms of democracy within the party and the government it produced.
4. All the issues raised by the leaked memo by Kadauna State Governor, Nasir Elrufai have not been addressed by both the party and the President.
5. The APC has failed and continues to fail the people, especially the youths. E.g no single youth in the federal cabinet.
6. The party has continued to sideline him and never consults him on crucial issues as one of the party leaders.
Suanu’s Blog recalls that Alhaji Atiku had joined the APC on February 2, 2014 after a delegation of the party visited him on 19th of December 2013 in Abuja and begged him to do so.

Following the death of Nigeria's former Vice President, Dr.Alex Ekwueme in a London Hospital on Sunday, the family has established eight ( centres where his Condolence Register can be signed.

According to the traditional ruler of Oko community in Anambra State and the younger brother of the deceased leader, Igwe Laz Ekwueme, the centres are ;

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has blamed the APC's defeat in the November 18 Governorship Election in Anambra State on the rancour among the ranks of leaders of the party in the state.

Okorocha revealed this on Tuesday when leaders of the Democratic Youths Congress for Buhari 2019 paid him a visit at the Government House in Owerri.
According to Him; “People should not use the Anambra election result to judge the support of Buhari. It does not reflect the support”, he said
“Even the government and people of Anambra support President Buhari.
“What happened was that internal disagreement among the leaders in APC in Anambra cost APC the election.”

Reports from Adamawa State indicate that suspected youths in Kikan community in Numan local government area of the state has killed no fewer than 30 herdsmen.

This is coming after an early morning bomb blast left about 50 persons dead in Mubi part of the State.

Confirming the incident the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Othman Abubakar told journalists that the herdsmen were gruesomely murdered and that the state command has commenced investigation.
He disclosed that many women and children were targeted and killed in the attack.

Similarly, the chairman of Miyetti Allah in the North East, Mafindi Danburam while confirming the incident said about 65 people were killed, adding that women and children dominate numbers of the victims.
Mafindi further revealed that they had so far buried 45 victims.

The governorship election in Anambra State held on Saturday, 18th November 2017 with 37 governorship candidates.

At the end of the election, APGA’s Willie Obiano was declared as the winner.

Here are some of the noticeable things that characterized the election:

1. INEC still performed below the expected standard as lots of logistical challenges still bedeviled the poll including late arrival of electoral materials, some inexperienced adhoc staff, failure of card reader machines and inappropriate polling units (the use of some people’s compound).

2. The election was relatively peaceful with reduced incidence of ballot box snatching and other open cases of electoral manipulations.

3. Gov.Willie Obiano without a godfather or so-called presidential support won in an unprecedented way in all the 21 LGAs of the state.

4. Osita Chidoka and Yul Edochie may have learnt a lesson or two from the attempt. This will help them to have a sharpened and improved knowledge, experience and approach to politics in Nigeria next time.

5. PDP’s shameful defeat is another indication that things are fast falling apart in the party and if sincere efforts aren’t put in place, the woes of the party may not abate any soon.

6. Hon.Dr.Tony Nwoye’s defection to the APC did not help him politically enough as the votes he garnered on the party’s platform was not any significantly different from what he got in 2013 when he had just 10 days to campaign under the PDP.

7. There was widespread vote buying and voters’ inducement with food being distributed to voters in some places.

8. President Buhari kept to his promise and did not interfere in the elections. Unlike before where bullion vans were allegedly used to convey huge sums of money from the Central Bank and distributed to stalwarts of the ruling party and used in bribing electoral officers.

9. Gov.Willie Obiano’s victory was not based on performance but on the cultural attachment of Igbos to APGA to preserve a party that has long been given an ethnic coloration.

10. The ordered boycott by IPOB to some extent affected the participation of people in the election; a reverse order may have changed the narratives somehow.

An earlier report about the alleged death of a notorious militant, cultist, kidnapper and ardent illegal oil bunkerer, Mr. Igwedibia Johnson, (aka “Don Wanni”), who has been terrorising the peace-loving Omoku community in particular, as well as the entire people of Rivers and Bayelsa States has been confirmed to be false. Don Wanni was feared to have died in a gun battle involving a joint operation between Nigerian security forces and a local vigilante group in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Council of Rivers State on Sunday.


The news of his demise had sprung up widespread jubilation in different parts of the local government as hundreds of residents and indigenes trooped out to confirm if he was actually killed. However, they were denied access to the local council secretariat where his dead body was believed to have been kept. Everybody that had besieged the alleged venue left one by one in disappointment as no one sighted his corpse. This raised doubts about the rumoured killing of the dreaded gang leader.
Confirming a raid on Don Wanni’s camp, shrines and luxurious mansion in the early hours of Monday, the Deputy Director Army Public Relations of the 6 division of the Nigerian Army, Colonel AMINU ILIYASU in a statement said items recovered included 10 human skulls, various human bones, 2 AK-47 Rifles, 1 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), 18 AK-47 Rifle Magazines, 4 pairs of military camouflage, 5 camouflage T-Shirts, 3 Fabrique Nationale (FN) Rifle Rifle magazines, 39 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 1 round of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. Others included 2 bags weighing about 25kg containing substances believed to Cannabis (Marijuana), 3 ICOM Hand-held Radios and 2 MAG ONE Hand-held Radios.
Colonel Aminu also stated that “after about an hour of gun fight, the gallant troops overpowered the criminal elements. Some of them scampered in disarray and are believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds through River Orashe in Omoku. The troops however, arrested , 7 others including 2 ladies while they were trying to escape during the encounter. It is believed that the main kingpin, Igwedibia Johnson, (aka “Don Waney”), was not at the location during the encounter as concerted efforts are on by security agencies to track, arrest and bring him to justice.


The Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army also thanked the people who provided the tip-off that made the raid possible and pleaded for more support through information provision until Don Wanni is finally caught dead or alive.
For now, the excitement of the people seems to have disappeared and they now appear to be living in greater fear over possible vengeance after the unsuccessful operation by his escapee gang members.

The Governorship Election which held in Anambra State on Saturday has been described as “one of the worst” governorship election conducted in the country since the return of democracy in 1999.

This assertion was given by Mr.Clement Nwankwo, executive director, Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC). He stated this on Sunday while speaking with journalists in Awka, the state capital.

Mr.Nwankwo lamented that the poll was marred by various forms of vote-buying antics.
“The election is very disappointing; this is one of the worst elections that have been conducted in Nigeria since 1999,” he said.
“We are very disappointed with the political parties and the candidates who have spent this much money on elections that should really be a show of citizens’ reference of who governs them next.
“Individuals were being paid from N500 to N5, 000.”
He said with such vote-buying antics, candidates who emerge might end up as the worst kind of leaders because “they never really apply some of the resources of the state meant for its development”.

While condemning the treatment melted on corps members and police officers, Nwankwo said;
“Some of the youth corps members have been paid nothing, housed under very poor and inhumane conditions,” he said.
“They should ordinarily be performing their national youth service but decided to make the sacrifice for the country and come for the election, but they have not been treated properly.
“A lot of the policemen have not even been paid monies to buy meals while they are here and some have not even eaten for more than a day. So, you shouldn’t bring to be part of the election process under such desperate and uncaring condition.
“The police promised 26,000 personnel but apparently not delivering on it because in several areas, police personnel were absent. But the positive part of the whole process is that the police behave reasonably well and the fear of over-policing and intimation of voters did not play out.”

A dreaded and notorious militant leader from Omoku, Rivers State, known as Ejima IGWE Dibia a.k.a "Don wanni" is reported dead.

Suanu's Blog gathered that he was said to have been killed by a combined force of OSPAC (Onelga Security outfit) and Security Agents in the state.

Don Wanni who was among gang leaders who recently accepted the amnesty granted by Gov.Nyesom Wike has been repeatedly accused of returning to crime and been responsible for several criminal acts and killings in the Omoku neighbourhood.

Few weeks ago, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Govt. Council (ONELGA)  Hon.(Barr.) Osi Olisa in a statement had condemned the dastardly killing of two OSPAC personnel and a civilian in Okposi and Omoku respectively, describing it as "vicious and despicable ".

The statement had also accused  Don Wanni and "forces" loyal to him of being behind the  violent attack, and urged OSPAC and other security outfits to get to the bottom of the matter.

These attacks on the security outfit, led to a manhunt for him. A confrontation with his gang led to his eventual death and three members of his gang at about 8:45pm on sunday.

Meanwhile, indigenes and residents of Omoku have greeted the reports of Don Wanni's death with lots of excitement as they trooped into the council secretariat where his dead body was kept to confirm his final exit.

Believed to be a henchman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State, Don Wanni has been alleged to be responsible for the killing of several rivers indigenes, amongst them were, one Chief Adube and his three children, the beheading of Franklyn Obi and the killing of his wife and son, the murder of several APC Members and the arson on the home of Hon Vincent Ogbuagu, as well as several others in and around Omoku in Ogba /Egbema/ Ndoni LGA of Rivers State.

Before his sudden death, he was a chieftaincy title holder in his place and lived a life full of luxury in his gigantic mansion.

Although, his death has been confirmed by the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Osi Olisa, his corpse have been kept in secrecy as at the time of filing this report even as residents besiege the council secretariat enmass.

Gov.Willie Obiano of Anambra State today breached the Electoral Act in his desperate bid to get reelected.

After casting his vote around 10: a.m, the incumbent Governor addressed a crowd of his Supporters at his polling unit at Eri Primary School, Unit 004, Otuocha 1, Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area.

This act by the Governor has been condemned by activists who regard it as a total disregard of the Electoral Act.

According to section 99 (1 and 2) of the Electoral Act:
“For the purpose of this Act, the period of campaigning in public by every political party shall commence 90 days before polling day and end 24 hours prior to that day. This refers to a registered political party or any person acting on its behalf during the 24 hours before polling day,”.

The action by Gov.Obiano is seen by many as a form of campaigning.

Condemning Gov.Obiano for falling prey to the temptation, Mrs. Abiola Akiyode of the Transition Monitoring Group said;
“The most worrisome aspect (of this election) is that the governor came with a microphone to address the people. I think it is a sort of campaign. Since I have been observing, I have never seen any governor go to that extent to talk to people on election day. I think he should have avoided the temptation even if people are pushing him to do something”.
“What he spoke about is a sort of campaign. Saying that at the end of the day he would have cause to be happy. I think these are not things one should expect on election day.” she explained.

On the 18th day of November, 2017 the good people of Anambra State will be going to the poll to elect another governor to govern their state. Although there are about 37 contestants for the governorship election, political observers opine that the election may just be a contest among Hon.Dr.Tonye Nwoye of the All Progressives Congree, APC, Gov.Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mr.Oseleko Obaze of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Others who may pose a surprise at the much expected poll are Chief Godwin Ezeemo of the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA and Mr. Osita Chidoka of the United Progressive Party, UPP.

Suanu’s Blog hereby considers key factors that will determine the chances of the aspirants as the date for the crucial election draws near.

1. Performance: Anambra people will have to look at the performance of the contestants either in political or personal capacity. This is because all the major contenders have at one time or the other occupied public offices or are into personal businesses. The values they have used their political or business capacities to add to the lives of Anambra people may just become a key deciding factor. Anambra people are expected to review the performance of Gov.Willie so far in line with his previous electioneering campaign promises; a failure in this regard may just shut the door at the incumbent. Same yardstick should be extended to the candidate of the APC as a federal lawmaker, the PDP candidate as a former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, the UPP Candidate as FRSC Boss and Aviation Minister. Their performances in those previous or current portfolios may provide the requisite guide to the Anambra People in the choice of their next governor.

2. The Power of Incumbency: No matter the view you may hold, the truth remains that a sitting governor still wills lots of power and influence which may strategically place him/her at an advantaged position in any election he/she is involved. Gov.Willie Obiano is the greatest beneficiary from this factor as He has been manipulating the people with the resources at his disposal by flagging off new projects, commissioning a few and making financial and material donations to various parts of the state in the course of his campaigns so as to boost his chances at the polls. He has also intimidated workers and made bogus promises to them so as to fetch their support.

3. Federal Might: The federal government still indirectly has a lot to do with whoever emerges as the winner in any election in the country. In times past, it has been observed that the federal government had left nothing to chances in ensuring that its candidate emerges victorious in most elections. This is evident in the manipulation of the electoral umpire and security agencies which play critical roles in an election. Although President Buhari obviously seems not to be directly interested in delivering any candidate of his party through any dubious means, there have been allegations by those termed as “presidential boys” sent to various states during elections to exercise federal might in delivering the candidate of the President’s party. For instance, Ex-Ekiti State Governor now a federal minister had many fingers pointing at him over the roles he played in the Governorship election in Ondo State. If the federal might is exercised in the Anambra Election, then Hon.Tony Nwoye will be the sole beneficiary.

4. Money: Indeed money answereth all things including luring the people during elections to vote massively for any given candidate. From the governorship election in Bayelsa State to Edo State to Ondo State among others, accusations of vote buying have surfaced and remained evident. The candidate who won is believed to have had or paid the highest amount to influence the votes of electorates. In the Anambra Election, the case may not be any different. It may just be another opportunity to flex financial muscle. The key candidates who can flex their financial muscle to a large extent are those of the APC, APGA and PDP. If Anambra People choose to accept such financial inducement and vote accordingly, then the candidate who is able to pay the highest sum may end up reaping the highest number of votes from the evil and anti-democratic venture.

5. The IPOB/Biafra Factor: The resurgence of the Biafra agitation has been a major issue that had characterized our public and political space for some time now. With a boycott order from the estranged leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and all that followed, there has been a serious fear concerning the effect of the Biafra agitation on the conduct of the Anambra Poll. The declaration and commencement of Operation Python Dance 11 and the subsequent disappearance of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu seems to have calmed the polity with his supporters vehemently scattered. Some contestants before the sudden disappearance of Kanu were already faking into supporting the Biafra agitation so as to reap from the perceived huge support base of Mr. Kanu. Particularly, the candidate of the UPP during the governorship debate organized by Channels TV had confessed to driving Nnamdi Kanu home after his release from prison and was believed to have been adopted by IPOB at some points ahead of the poll. Unfortunately, the IPOB influence which would have benefitted Mr.Chidoka of the UPP is nolonger feasible as many of its members have already destroyed their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) on the instruction on Nnamdi Kanu who had some time ago ordered all members of IPOB to destroy all national identities and symbols of Nigeria on a day tagged “Day of Rage”. If loyalists of IPOB who still by chance have PVCs obey the earlier boycott order, the candidate of the APC whose supporters appear not to be much of the Pro-IPOB may fetch him huge votes as they will be courageous and dogged enough to deliver their candidate by voting massively for him.

6. The Ojukwu/APGA Factor: Before now, the name Ojukwu had become an easy vehicle that politicians from Igboland and Anambra State particularly had used to swing votes in their favour. This is what candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), a party formed by the Ojukwu have severally benefitted from. With some political parties given ethnic colorations, APGA is seen as a Pro-Igbo party and since Anambra State is the only state under its crow, some people are of the opinion that APGA must not be thrown into extinction by voting in another party in the state. If many Anambra People put this issue on the tapis, then Chief Obiano may just reap from that to get reelected.

7. The Role of the Youths: The role of the youths in any democratic process in Nigeria particularly cannot be overemphasized. In the Anambra Guber, the youths will like in other instances play key roles whether positive or negative. Positive in the instance that they could be dogged and rugged enough against all odds to ensure they vote for their candidates and facilitate his/her victory. A review of the governorship candidates indicate that Hon.Dr.Tony Nwoye enjoys the highest support of Anambra youths and this is just one of the reasons why the only man among the three top contenders considered to be a youth may pose a huge surprise in this crucial election.

8. Number Of Supporters With PVCs: The crowd of persons at electioneering campaigns in Nigeria doesn’t always translate into victory for any particular party or candidate. As many of those who grace campaign venues are either without the PVC which is a criterion for voting or may not just be courageous enough to take the risk to come out finally to vote during the election. The candidate who has massive supporters with PVCs who are hell-bent in ensuring they cast their votes may end up securing the victory.

9. Godfathers: The presence and roles of godfathers in our politics can never be overemphasized. So many politicians we see around have their engine rooms, their fore-runners, and their drum beaters who dictate the way they dance. Although some people are against godfathers as they believe most times they connive with their godsons to deny the people the dividends of democracy, not all godfathers may have the plan of milking the state treasury dry ordinarily. The Anambra case has not been any different as many candidates have been linked to godfathers. The loudest of them are the APC Candidate with Billionaire Prince Arthur Eze and the PDP Candidate with Ex-Governor Peter Obi who many believe is already campaigning for a third time in office. Godfathers usually sponsor their godsons by providing huge sums of money to finance their electioneering campaigns which many people believe are not grants but loans which are to be repaid from the state coffers if the candidate eventually wins even with huge increase, simply call it political investments. Apart from this, godsons also ride on the goodwill of their godfathers and benefit from their support bases and connections. As the election holds this Saturday, this factor will certainly increase the fortunes of those perceived to have godfathers.

10. Zoning : The deliberate plan to ensure even rotation of power at all levels in Nigeria is a key characteristics of our democracy. This principle even though unwritten in some instances gives a sense of belonging to almost every part of a state or the country. The issue of zoning is also ringing a bell in the Anambra Politics. And taking cognizance of this, many political parties strategically ensured their candidates came from the favoured senatorial zone. Particularly, candidates of the APC, PDP and APGA are from the same senatorial zone which makes the contest a very keen one. Of special significance is the fact that if the APGA Candidate wins, the end of his tenure will pave way for the next zone to produce the next governor. Similarly, the PDP Candidate has also promised to run for just one term in obedience to the zoning arrangement, although in politics anything can just happen once victory has been secured. The position of the APC candidate is however unknown in this regards.

How these considered factors will play out tomorrow lie with the thumbprints of the Anambra People.

It is expected that they will give peace a chance and elect their next governor with all consciousness knowing that it will have a direct bearing on their future. Also expected is that the electoral umpire will be true to its mandate and ensure the election is free, fair and credible and the security agencies will be as professional as necessary.

Son of the late Biafran Warlord, Odimegwu Ikemba Ojukwu, Emeka Ojukwu Jnr has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

His defection was announced at the grand finale of the APC Govenorship Election in Anambra State.

In His speech, He expressed joy at his joining the APC and urged all Anambrarians to vote for the Governorship Candidate of the Party, Dr.Tony Nwoye.

Ojukwu Jnr also lambasted APGA for deceiving Anambra People with the picture of his late father.

The obvious disunity in the camp of the Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has taken a new dimension following his disappearance after the Nigeria Military declared Operation Python Dance 11 in his ‘Biafra’ region.
In a shocking move, the international media arm of the group, Radio Biafra, has resumed operations but with an announcement of the sack of Mr. Kanu, as director and leader of IPOB.
Suanu’s Blog gathered that the Radio Biafra’s programme started between 6am -7am on Sunday with the lady announcer, who gave her name as Ifeoma Okorafor, stating that the radio was restructuring.
She further announced that “Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu, the former Director of Radio Biafra is hereby dismissed and removed as Director of Radio Biafra following extensive and intensive consultations”
According to her, one “Mazi Ezenwachukwu Sampson Okwudili is Kanu’s replacement.”
She listed reasons for Kanu’s replacement to include: “Personalisation of the Biafran struggle and derailing from the core objectives of IPOB as a grassroots movement.
“Kanu’s actions and his decisions to incite members of IPOB towards violence leading to the death of many innocent young people in Onitsha, Aba and Umuahia is totally unacceptable and grossly irresponsible.
“Kanu privately collected £14 million and another $22 million to purchase landed properties abroad in his name and that of his father, Igwe Israel Kanu, in a clear case of ‘monkey dey work baboon dey chop’.
“Kanu turned our collective struggle into a money-making enterprise for himself and his father. Thus the monies contributed by enterprising and hard-working Igbo youths across the world are being collected and converted by one man and his father while pretending to be sacrificing for the cause.
“Upon his release from detention in April 2017, one expected Kanu to drum up support for the release of his colleagues and co-detainees such as Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi. These are our brothers who were arrested at the same time with him and they should not be forgotten. We hereby demand their release. Kanu, since his release, has never spoken about them or appealed for the release of these our freedom fighters. Instead, he has been going about collecting chieftaincy titles and having a messianic swagger that even allowed full-blooded Igbo men to kneel down and kiss his feet.

“Kanu threw away the original meaning of our collective struggle for personal gain and vain glorification. IPOB believes in democracy as a solid base of any modern state, the rule of law, and will always reject violence in all its ramifications.”

Daily Independent Newspaper reports that there was a mixture of excitement and confusion within Nigeria security circles as a result of this new development in IPOB as security agencies do not know what to make of this.

There was a mild drama on Saturday in PortHarcourt, the Rivers State Capital as security agents attached to Gov.Nyesom Wike clashed with that of his Predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi.

The Aide to Gov.Wike on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu in a statement alleged that over 50 SARS Personnel , Soldiers and Mobile Policemen in the Minister of Transportation's motorcade attacked the Governor's convoy.

Suanu's  Blog gathered  that Gov.Wike was on project inspection at Nwanja Junction on Trans-Amadi Road when the incident happened.

Mr.Nwakaudu further alleged  that the SARs Personnel and Soldiers in the Minister's convoy hit down the Governor's Escort Rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot car.

He said Mr Debewari , Aide -De- Camp, to the Minister of Transportation, supervised the attack, which included damage of cameras held by journalists .

He particularly accused the Commander of Rivers SARS, Mr Akin Fakorede of been part of the attack having received the Minister of Transportation earlier at the Port Harcourt International Airport and accompanied Him on his trip.

As the incident ensued, the Governor  was however not hurt as he later  continued with his inspection of Projects.

Meanwhile, in what appeared to be a blame game, sources close to the Transportation Minister have accused Gov.Wike of masterminding the attack.

One of the sources loyal to Ex-Governor while narrating the incident said ; "It started when the security presence ( bike) preceding the beginning of the gov. motorcade collided with Chibuike 's vehicle...
The bike skidded off its lane into Amaechi's motorcade.
The security personnel attached to the Minister stopped and his outriders ensured that the motorcade was not impeded...
The governor's outrider was allowed to continue although he refused, and the minister who was the driver of the first car in the group zoomed off..
But on getting to the scene, the governor ensured that the rest of the Minister's motorcade was impeded. He barricaded the lane with his car...
And in a commando style searched all vehicles; flinging the doors of the cars open...
By this time, the Minister and couple of following cars had left.
Seeing the situation, a certain brave officer of the police decided to explain the situation to the raging governor.
Surprisingly the enraged Governor screamed abused and instructed his detail to beat the police officer​ and his gun confiscated."

Today marks 22 years after Ogoni Leaders led by renowned Environmentalist, Writer and Human Rights Activist Ken Saro Wiwa were killed by the military junta led by Nigeria’s cruel dictator and looter, General Sani Abacha.
Ken Saro Wiwa who was fighting against environmental degradation and political marginalization of the Ogoni People and Niger Delta against international outcry was hanged alongside his noble comrades on November 10, 1995.

The 2015 Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State, Dr.Dakuku Peterside has slammed the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike describing Him as a “disgraceful and pathological liar” whose sense of “decency, respect and posterity” has been blighted by an inferiority complex and low mentality.

In a statement by His Media Team, Dr.Peterside stated this while defending the administration of the former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, whose eight years tenure was described as wasteful without anything tangible by Gov.Wike while delivering a lecture at Chatham House in London on Monday.

According to him, “the statement credited to Wike is shocking, absurd and an irresponsible way of demeaning the outstanding achievements of Amaechi,” who he says embarked on one of the greatest turnarounds in Rivers history.

Peterside, who is the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), lamented that Wike is such a weak man of history that he failed to recall Amaechi had spoken at the Chatham in 2013, where the former governor reeled out unquestionable achievements, including the sending of hundreds of Rivers students to some of the best schools in the United Kingdom.

The NIMASA DG, who was also the commissioner for works under Amaechi from 2007-2011, wondered why Wike could lie before his audience by not telling them that he was the chief of staff to the former governor for four years.
“What more could have been shameful to Wike as students sent abroad by Amaechi protested non-payment of their school fees at the Chatham House. If Amaechi did nothing, how come he sent Rivers students overseas, with many having graduated from different countries?
“While the governor was disgracing himself in London, he failed to tell his audience that Rivers people have not seen their state’s budget for two years, neither do they know the value of projects awarded by Wike to his cronies.
“Under Amaechi, Rivers won accolades in practically in every sector, from education to roads, power to health, security to agriculture, among several other policies and programmes that have affected generations and made the state better.
“The most prominent roads in Nyesom Wike’s village were built during the Amaechi’s administration.

The same government built model primary schools and health centres in Wike village. Indigenes of his town were employed, empowered and supported in many ways.
“In just one day, Amaechi employed over 13,000 teachers, in addition to engaging over 400 doctors, building more than 500 model primary schools and over 200 primary health centres, yet a man in his right senses will say the former governor did nothing,” he enthused.

Dr Peterside stressed further that Wike’s embarrassing outing at Chatham House has exposed the governor as a man, who “revels in cheap popularity, dwells in mediocrity and thrives on falsehood,” pointing out that in 2019, Rivers people will speak with one voice and “end this show of shame.”
