PoliticsImo APC State Congress Produces State Chairman Despite Gov.okorocha’s Injunction by Upritman(op): 5:22pm On May 19, 2018
@SuanusBlog

Imo state will witness more political battles in days ahead as the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC now has a new state chairman despite a reported court injunction secured by party men loyal to Gov.Rochas Okorocha.

After several failed attempts to reverse the political onslaught against Him, members loyal to Gov.Okorocha had obtained a court injunction stopping the state congress, of the APC in the state.

However, in what appears to have been a total disregard of the reported court order, the state congress of the party in Imo State is said to have held on Saturday as earlier scheduled. This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Imo APC stakeholders, Mr Theodore Ekechi

The controversial congress is said to have produced Mr. Hilary Eke as State Chairman, Ugochukwu Nzekwe as Vice Chairman, Mr. Patrick Eze as Secretary among others.

The anti-Okorcha elements within the Imo APC faulted the processes involved in the purported injunction. They also claimed that the injunction was directed at the wrong persons.

Suanu’s Blog recalls that the unrepentant decision of Gov.Okorocha to ensure his son-inlaw, Uche Nwosu succeeds Him as the Governor in 2019 has led to the unending crises currently rocking the state chapter of the party.

As at the time of filing this report, Gov.Okorocha was yet to react to the emergence of Mr.Eke and others as leaders of the Imo State APC.

Politics2019:PDP Dumps Atiku, Others, Sets To Adopt Gov.dankwambo As Consensus Candidate by Upritman(op): 1:38pm On May 15, 2018
Ahead of the 2019 general elections, indications have emerged that the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in its bid to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has perfected plans to dump former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former governors Sule Lamido, Babangida Aliyu and Ahmed Makarfi among other presidential aspirants under its umbrella for the adoption of Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State as its consensus candidate.

Dankwambo, 56, who is a former Accountant-General of the federation is believed to be transparent and honest and the “best face” PDP needs to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

Although, Gov.Dankwambo was yet to declare for the presidency, several groups within and outside the PDP have been calling on Him to throw himself into the 2019 presidential contest.

Suanu’s Blog gathered that Gov.Dankwambo reportedly enjoys the support of many serving and former PDP governors, ministers and other big-wigs who see in him the combination of competence and capacity easily salable to Nigerians after PDP’s poor 16-year performance in power.

Vanguard quotes an anonymous South-South Governor supporting the candidature of Gov.Dankwambo as saying:

“We need a candidate who is not only competent but has the appeal to erase our poor perception from the mind of Nigerians with his impeccable credentials.”

It is unclear if Gov.Dankwambo can stand the storm in the midst of other political heavyweights also from the north to fly the flag of the party.

Those arrested included Engr. Ikpamezie Innocent ‘39Yrs’ – Principal Suspect from Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State (Special Adviser on Electoral matters to Senator Hope Uzodimma representing Orlu Senatorial District of Imo State), Lawrence Archibong ‘34Yrs’ from Akpabuyo LGA of Cross Rivers State, Kelechi Affonne ‘27Yrs’ from Isialagwa North LGA of Abia State and Joseph Martins ‘28Yrs’ from Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State.

Some of the things found with them include sixty eight (68) APC Ward Congress result sheets, six (6) APC LG result Sheet, six (6) LG APC Ward Officers and delegates list for the aborted 5th May, 2018 APC Ward congress elections and one hundred and thirty (130) APC delegates nomination forms

A statement by the Nigeria Police said: ‘At about 1400hrs of today being 12th May, 2018, operatives of the IGP Special Tactical Squad on a tip-off trailed and arrested the above mentioned suspects in SEREDIB HOTEL AT WUSE II, ABUJA while in the act in hideout in the hotel, manipulating and entering data into result sheets of the Imo State APC Ward Election Result Sheets. Investigation is in progress and effort is being intensified to arrest Dr. Iyke Njoku and other suspects still at large. All suspects will all be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.’
Suanu’s Blog recalls that Gov.Rochas Okorocha had led the Police to the house of an APC Chieftain believed to have hijacked the electoral materials for the ward congresses of the party in Imo State. This has led to several controversies on the matter including the cancellation of the exercise and the postponement of the local government area congresses scheduled for today by the national headquarters of the party in the state.

HealthPregnant Women To Be Paid On A Monthly Basis In Bayelsa State by Upritman(op): 12:42pm On May 05, 2018
The Baylesa State Government has concluded plans to pay pregnant women every month. This move Suanu’s Blog gathered is aimed at reducing the rate of maternal/infant mortality in the state.
This plan was revealed by the wife of the state governor, Dr. Racheal Dickson, while speaking in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, during the commencement of a three-day programme for ‘Royal Queens’ in the Niger Delta organised by the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Wives’ Association, a Government House statement said on Friday.
Mrs.Dickson said with the money, pregnant women will be able to buy whatever they need during the pregnancy period, stressing that the government would also care for them medically to reduce cases of maternal and infant mortality.
She said the government was concerned about the wellbeing of pregnant women and had put in place measures to ensure they get monthly stipend and other benefits until they safely give birth to their baby.
Mrs. Dickson said, “We will be paying our women who are pregnant monthly to ensure they are able to buy whatever they need. We will also care for them medically to ensure that cases of maternal and infant mortality are reduced.
“Most of the deaths you hear of involving pregnant women could have been avoided if they were well cared for. We are concerned about such avoidable deaths and by God’s grace, we will reduce and even stop it.”
While calling on pregnant women to take advantage of the offer by visiting government-owned hospitals, she also advised them against foods that are not good for them during their pregnancy.

Christianity Etc2019 Elections May Not Hold, Nigeria May Break Up If Killings Continue–adeboye by Upritman(op): 10:02am On May 05, 2018
@SuanusBlog

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye on Friday warned that except the wanton bloodletting in the country is stopped, Nigeria may break up soon.
The renowned cleric stated this at the May 2018 Holy Ghost service with a theme: “Stronger Than Your Enemies 5” with a sub title, ‘Habitation of the Almighty’.
Adeboye also expressed fears that “unless the killings stopped there may not be elections in 2019 in Nigeria.” The cleric made the admonition while leading the large crowd of worshippers at the Redemption Camp and in several viewing centers across the globe, in a prayer for the survival of Nigeria, re-echoed the fact that a nation may survive a civil war but no nation can survive a religious war and remain the same.
Narrating how he felt in far away Germany when yet to be identified herdsmen stormed St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Ukpor-Mbalom Parish, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, killing two Catholic priests and 17 parishioners, he told the large crowd that he was unusually quiet and his wife of over 50 years was curious. “I said there is no father who would lose 19 children in a day that will not be quiet. She said what do you mean, because she hadn’t heard the news that in a church, somebody went in and shot 19 people. “It doesn’t matter the denomination…by the special grace of God, all Christians in Nigeria call me daddy. So when any of them dies, it’s my son or daughter that is dead,” Adeboye said.
Adeboye therefore called on the Buhari led government to urgently end the killings before it dovetails into a religious war. “I am going to ask you to join me in prayer, because unless these killings stop, and stop immediately, even Nigeria may not live. I am not talking about individuals now, I am talking about Nigeria itself…a bishop asked me not too long ago, ‘Daddy, has God told you who win the next election?’ “I said, Sir, I am not even sure yet there will be an election. Because unless these killings stop there may be no elections next year. ‘Are you prophesying , Daddy?’ No, no! I am not prophesying. I am just reasoning. Because nobody will want to go out to vote if they are not sure they will be able to return home safely,” he explained.
Speaking further, he said he has seen war at close quarters and knows that there is nothing good about war, “it’s a terrible thing. A nation may survive a civil war, but no nation can survive a religious war a remain the same. That Nigeria may live these killings must stop. “So all of you who love Nigeria, I want to rise on your feet, and cry to God with all your heart, and say: Father, let the killings stop,” and the response was spontaneous…..”that Nigeria may live, please God let the killings stop.”

PoliticsBuhari's Impeachment: Apologise To Urhoghide Within 14-days,PDP Tells APC Youths by Upritman(op): 7:04am On May 05, 2018
@SuanusBlog

Following the attack on Senator Matthew Urhoghide at Benin Airport last weekend by suspected youths of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Edo State, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a 14-day ultimatum that the youths apologise to the lawmaker representing Edo South Senatorial District or face their wrath.
Senator Matthew Urhoghide was allegedly attacked due to a motion he moved on the floor of the senate, believed to have instigated the lawmakers to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari. However, the PDP in a communiqué signed by the Senatorial chairman, Deacon Mike Ehima at the end of a meeting of the leaders and executive members of the party in Benin on Friday condemned in the strongest terms the ambush laid at the Benin Airport by some APC agents to assault Senator Urhoghide, and asked those behind the unwarranted attack to beg for forgiveness.
According to the communique, “The actions of the hooligans are sacrilegious to the Benin nation as ,’Okhaivbo’ and a celebrated ‘Odion’ is not allowed to be humiliated in our land, not to talk of removing cap from his head. “We also regret that while the evil doers in Edo South prompted our youths to humilate our own Senator, his counterpart heading same Committee in the House of Representatives, Hon Kingsley Chinda, as well as Hon Baballe from Kano State were celebrated by their people. “We hold that an assault on him is an assault on the entire people of Edo South Senatorial district he represents. Finally, we pass a vote of implicit confidence on Senator Matthew Urhoghide in his representation of the Senatorial district since his election to Upper Legislative chambers. In particular, we endorsed his latest contributions on the floor of the Senate in furtherance of achieving the goals of the Committee he heads (Public Accounts Committee)

PoliticsAPC Crises Get Messier As State Deputy Chairman Exposes Amaechi's Rigging Plot by Upritman(op):
@SuanusBlog

The pending crises in the camp of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State may finally explode ahead of its ward Congresses scheduled to hold tomorrow.

This is coming as the deputy state chairman of the party, Chief Peter Odike has exposed undemocratic plots by the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to manipulate the congresses.

Chief Odike in a statement on Friday accused Amaechi who is the Leader of the party in the state of plotting to use Intels Camp as a place to perpetrate electoral fraud.

The top chieftain of the Rivers State APC also called on President Buhari to call Minister of Transportation to order.

The press statement obtained by Suanu's Blog reads below:

"It has come to our notice that INTELS camp in Port Harcourt is being used by the Hon. Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, the state Party Chairman of the APC, Chief Ibiamu Ikanya and their acolytes as a safe haven where all manner of electoral fraud is being perpetrated to subvert the will of members of APC in Rivers State in the ward congresses scheduled to hold tomorrow, Saturday the 5th of May, 2018.

All the electoral materials meant for the conduct of the congresses have been hijacked on the orders of the Minister of Transportation to the INTELS facility where nominations forms are being issued and lists of ward executives for an exercise yet to take place being compiled against the rules and guidelines of the party governing the conduct of the congresses.

In order to carry out this illegality and impunity, the party secretariat where all activities preceding the congresses ought to take place has been abandoned and deserted.

We therefore want to strongly appeal to the management of INTELS Camp and other hotels in Port Harcourt not to allow their business premises to be used to perpetrate fraud against the laws of the APC and Nigeria.

We also want to call on President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and the National leadership of the All Progressives Congress to call the Minister of Transportation to order to desist from carrying out activities designed to subvert the will of party faithful in Rivers State as such activity is capable of painting our party in bad light thereby destroying the faith of the electorate in Rivers State that APC is capable of doing things right in accordance with its own rules."

Suanu's Blog recalls that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in a statement on Thursday had advise hoteliers in Rivers State against allowing APC to use their hotels to forment troubles during tomorrow's ward Congresses. However, the Rivers State APC in a response by its state publicity secretary, Chris Finebone termed Wike's advise and good wish as hypocritical.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State chapter of the APC has alleged that the State Governor, Nyesom Wike has sponsored a group within the party to destabilise the upcoming ward Congresses.

Rivera State APC in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chief (Dr.) Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said Gov.Wike's wicked plan has been uncovered. Chief Ikanya also alleged that "the group collected huge sum of money from the governor with the sole purpose of discrediting the congresses through wild allegations against leaders of the party especially the leader of the party in Rivers State and Honourable Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the State Chairman, Chief (Dr.) Davies Ibiamu Ikanya amongst others".

The other party of the statement reads below:

"Details of the plan seem to have been rolled out already as the group has gone on air to accuse the Minister of hijacking materials for the congresses, an accusation that exposes the ignorance of the group and makes absolutely no sense at all.

Whereas the APC is working hard to fully expose the full dimension of the plot and the evil people that are hell-bent on destabilizing our party congresses, we urge party faithful and the general public to ignore the well-known antics of Gov. Wike, the PDP and their collaborators within and outside the APC who have sold their souls to blood money. The party re-assures all members of strict adherence to the guidelines of the party congresses and not to be distracted by anyone or group under any guise.

The party would like our members and the general public to refuse to be deceived by these agents of doom who are likely to employ diverse means to destabilize the party in fulfilment of the agreement between them and their sponsors".

Rivers State seems be boiling as at the time of filing this report as supporters of a frontline Governorship Aspirant, Sen.Magnus Abe have vowed to ensure that all the undemocratic plots by some elements of the party within the state never come to fruition tomorrow.

PoliticsWard Congress: Don't Give Your Hotels To APC, Gov Tell Warns Hoteliers In Rivers by Upritman(op): 6:24pm On May 03, 2018

Ward Congress: Don't Give Your Hotels To APC, Gov Tell Warns Hoteliers In Rivers State

Ahead of the APC ward congress scheduled to hold on Saturday in Rivers State, the State Governor, Nyesom Wike has warned Hoteliers in the state not to allow the All Progressives Congress, APC use their hotels for the purpose of the upcoming congresses.

According to Gov.Wike, this is to avoid the hotels to be used to foment trouble as was the case during the party's last congress, when Novotel was negatively used by some persons, leading to the misconception across the country that Rivers State was in crisis.

This was contained in a statement by Special Assistant to the Governor, Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu on Thursday.

The statement further indicated that Gov.Wike wishes all APC members, a successful and peaceful congress. He also appealed to all APC members in the state to be law-abiding and ensure that their congress is devoid of rancour.

Suanu's Blog recalls that an earlier congress of the party which held last year July was greeted with massive protest by angry members of the party who stormed Novotel hotel where it was reported that national officers of the party who came to conduct the LGA congresses were held up to write fake results on the orders of anti democratic forces within the Rivers APC in order to foist unpopular delegates on the the people for the national convention.

In a similar development, the Senator representing Rivers South-East senatorial district, Magnus Abe on Tuesday had warned the leadership of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state to shelve every plan to manipulate  the will of members of the party during ward congresses of the party slated for Saturday.

Abe while addressing newsmen in Portharcourt said:
"We are trying to advise the party to avoid any situation that will make members unable to elect people that will manage the affairs of their party. We want to move away from speculations and look at the real things on ground.

“We have all continued to have confidence in the party to manage the situation in the party. It is always very difficult to convince somebody to walk to his funeral, that is why they carry people in caskets.

“The things that had happened in the party in the last couple of weeks have given members serious concern about the transparency of the process that is forthcoming.

“I believe that this concern will be adequately addressed so that we can move forward as one party. We still will wait to hear from the party on what should be done.”

Meanwhile, the leader of the APC in the state and current Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has promised that the APC ward congresses will be free, fair and a demonstration of internal democracy in the party.

The Transportation Minister stated this on arrival at the Portharcourt International Airport ahead of the Congress holding on Saturday.
Amaechi, who is the DG of the 2019 Buhari reelection campaign organisation was received by a crowd of his supporters and APC members in the state.

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has promised to approve what he termed sleeping allowance to workers in the state.
Okorocha stated this while addressing the workers in the state during the 2018 Workers Day Celebration which held in the state on Tuesday at Heroes Square in Owerri. According the Gov.Okorocha, the gesture is because of the fondness he had for the workers.

Gov.Okorocha also announced automatic promotion for all workers in the state civil service, with the exception of those who are newly employed.

, “I have therefore approved an automatic promotion for all workers of Imo State.

“This automatic promotion means that if you are in Grade Level Eight, you are now in Grade Level Nine.

“This is because since I became governor seven years ago, you have not been promoted.

“Without you, the activities of government would be crippled. You are the engine room behind all our successes.

“I thank you for your patience. You are so dear to me. I can even approve sleeping allowance for you,” Okorocha said while addressing the workers.

On the new minimum wage, Gov.Okorocha promised to abide by whatever decision is reached between the Federal Government and the Nigerian Labour Congress.

Also speaking at the occasion, the state chairman, Trade Union Congress, Paul Akalazu on behalf of Organised Labour in the state, urged the state government to immediately commence payment of 100 percent salaries for all workers.

“We call on the governor to direct the immediate restoration of 100 percent salary payment to all categories of workers as an appreciation of the sacrifices made by the workers during the economic recession.” The Labour Leader also urged the Okorocha led administration to clear all pension arrears and gratuities of the state’s senior citizens.

Suanu’s Blog gathered that the event was characterized by low turnout as many workers reportedly stayed away from the event.

PoliticsSenator Urhoghide Attacked Over Buhari's Impeachment Move, Police Beef Security by Upritman(op): 8:05pm On Apr 28, 2018
@Suanu's Blog

The Edo State Police Command has provided additional security at the Benin home of Senator Matthew Urhoghide who moved the motion for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari on the floor of the Senate.

This follows an attack on the embattled Senator by angry supporters of the president who nearly lynched him on arrival at the airport in Benin, the Edo State Capital. This resulted in a clash between supporters of the APC and PDP before the intervention of security agents.

Expressing dismay at the unfortunate humiliation melted on Him, Sen.Urhoghide accused the Chief of Staff to Governor Obaseki, Mr. Taiwo Akerele , as being responsible for the mobilisation of thugs that attacked him.

While threatening to seek legal redress, Sen.Urhoghide however said he does not have any regret for what he said at the floor of the Senate.

According to Him, “They have promised to deal with me. If not for the state Commissioner of Police. I obeyed the Police Commissioner. I remained where I was until the Governor came. We were walking side by side talking when a boy hit my head and the Governor walked away. Before I left Abuja, I knew what was happening and the person responsible for it. I called him to tell him that it was unnecessary but he didn’t pick his calls.

“It would be cowardice for me to abort the journey. I want to see what will happened and they displayed their thuggery, I am not cowed by it. I will represent my constituency and do whatever I want to do. Those who beat the PDP State Youth leader were not arrested but he was arrested

“If this game is not played along the direction that some people want it, then they see you as a deviant. That is what you saw yesterday, asking a riffraff, a boy of no consequence to lay his hands on me, an elected representative of the people, a serving Senator, it is a shame on this country.

“They should realised I am a PDP senator. I am in the opposition, I am not a member of the APC. I am liberty to say anything against the APC government. I am just being objective.

“They had ample time to bring the requests but they didn’t. We could have said more aircraft should be bought. What they have done is rumble jumble. The President has violated the constitution, that is the truth. If anybody is pretending that nothing has been done, the person should go to a mental home. Section 80 has been violated.

“Couldn’t I have spoken? That is what miscreants have misunderstood. I don’t have any regret for what I said. I stand on it. Where did I embarrass the President? Because of selfish interest here and they want to show to the President that everybody could be cowed in Edo.

“This is not a war I want to fight on partisan basis. I have immunity on what I said at the floor of the Senate. I am being crucified outside for what I said during plenary. I am going to report back to the Senate. All the security agencies must see the threat I am subjected to because I performed my duty as a Senator.”

Suanu's Blog gathered that about two police hill vans were stationed outside the Benin home of the Senator while heavily armed policemen were seen outside.

Politics2019: Obasanjo Denies Saying That Nigeria Will Collapse If Buhari Is Reelected by Upritman(op): 4:50pm On Mar 18, 2018
Nigeria’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has denied an insinuation going round that He said Nigeria will collapse President Buhari is reelected in 2019.

The denial and clarification are coming after rumours that Obasanjo made the comment in a speech at the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford University, on Friday.
The former President insisted that he had not even been to London since early January when he spoke on transformational leadership in Africa at Oxford University.
According to Him, Nigeria has become too solid as a country for any force, calamity or misgovernance to destroy it.

Speaking after a meeting of the InterAction Council of Former Heads of State and Government, holding in Azerbaijan, Obasanjo said:
“I won’t and can’t say that (that Nigeria will collapse if Buhari is reelected),” the former president said. “There will be nothing that will make Nigeria collapse. When Nigeria did not collapse under a civil war, it won’t collapse now.
“My faith and conviction about Nigeria is so strong that I don’t see the country either being dismembered or collapsing.
“The worst has passed on Nigeria. Once we were able to survive the civil war, once we are able to survive (Sani) Abacha, nothing can be worst than those two. And our democracy is waxing strong. Although there are a few things we need to get right.
“As far I am concerned, the worst is over. What remains is for all of us and for our leadership to show good faith and commitment to do what is right. Then Nigeria will grow from strength to strength.”

Speaking further on his recent criticisms against the Buhari administration, Obasanjo said:
“I regard those as aberrations and they will pass away. Such aberrations will pass away with the regime that brings them.
“Don’t forget that Abacha did more than that. Of course Abacha’s regime was not a democracy, it was a military dictatorship. If we survived that, then we will survive any shenanigan against democracy. That’s the greatest advantage of democracy.”

EducationApply For The Kaduna State Government Kashim Ibrahim 2018 Fellowship Programme by Upritman(op): 12:45pm On Mar 04, 2018
@Suanusblog

About:

Kaduna State Government is set to introduce its inaugural class of the KashimIbrahim Fellows Programme commencing in June, 2018. Theprogramme’s objective is to develop and nurture leadership ability across Nigeria, with specific focus on the promising leaders of the future. The one-year programme aims to create a network of high potential young Nigerians who are expected to rise to top leadership positions in the public sector and other spheres of activity over the next decade.The overall mission of the non-partisan programme, as envisioned by His Excellency, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, is in his words, “to raise the next generation of leaders who will most likely be absorbed into the Nigerian public sector having had a first-hand experience of its workings and challenges”.

Kashim Ibrahim Fellows Programme comprises of four components, namely;

1. Work Placement

Engagement in the work of Kaduna State Government lies at the heart of a Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship. Work assignments can offer unparalleled experience working with senior administration officials on ever changing issues and challenges. Fellows will spend a year as full-time, paid assistants to senior Government House Staff, Cabinet members and other top-ranking government officials in State Departments and Agencies.

1. Job Assignments: Fellows responsibilities would range from supporting public service delivery, interagency meetings and designing and implementing state government policies, to drafting speeches for government principals to representing their agencies outside Kaduna State. Fellows’ assignments demand a capacity for quick learning and a willingness to work hard, often on issues outside of their area of expertise.

Job assignments in consultation with heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on the basis of interviews conducted during “Placement Week”.

1. Remuneration: Fellows will receive salary and benefits equivalent to that of a Special Assistant to the Governor from the Ministry, Department or Agency for which they work. Kashim Ibrahim Fellows cannot receive compensation from any other source during their year of government service. Additionally, accommodation will be provided throughout the course of the programme.

2. Education Programme

The mandatory Education Programme serves as an important aspect of the Fellowship as it is intended to augment and enhance the work placement experience. Fellows are expected to fully undertake the Education Programme which would include speaker series, domestic policy trips, an international policy trip and Aspen Institute style quarterly seminars. During this process, a balance is maintained between personal development, self-reflection and the Nigerian context of leadership. The values and ethics of leadership also form a major component of the learning experience.

The Education Programme increases the Fellows’ exposure to renowned leaders from the public and private sectors. Each class will meet with notable global individuals who will improve and enrich their understanding and experience of public service. These sessions generally take place during the week, and are off-the-record, lively and frank.

Study of government policies in action across the country is at the heart of the Education Programme. Kashim Ibrahim Fellows are expected to undertake several policy study trips during the year. They will travel throughout Nigeria to study a range of issues such as education, healthcare, security and transportation, energy, economic development, local governance and urbanisation. These studies provide participants with an intensive learning and broadening experience on the principles and application of leadership, and an opportunity to explore the issues and specific characteristics of African leadership, as well as the global challenges and dimensions of same.

3. Community Service

Community service is a key component of the Kashim Ibrahim Fellows Programme. Fellows have a strong legacy of service to their communities and participate in community service projects throughout their year in Kaduna Metropolis. Fellows will be expected to pursue projects to assist the urban poor with solid waste management and recycling system, volunteer teaching, mentoring secondary school students, assisting Nigerian Legion members, or participating in the clean-up of local schools.

4. Fellowship

Perhaps the most enriching component of the programme is class fellowship, which often results in enduring friendships and collaborative ventures. Alumni will convene at yearly meetings in Kaduna hosted by the Governor, to eagerly welcome new Fellows into what we hope would be one of the most prestigious networks of professionals and leaders in the state and our nation.

In return for the privilege of participating in the Fellowship year, Fellows are expected to apply what they have learned by contributing to Kaduna State and the nation as greater leaders in their respective communities, professions, and in public service. Fellows are expected to return to their former or new occupations more experienced in public policy decision-making and better prepared to contribute to state and national affairs, thereby fulfilling the mission of the programme.

PoliticsWhat Could Tinubu Be Telling Saraki Here? (Photo) by Upritman(op): 7:25am On Mar 04, 2018
As the news of the Federal Government taking a new battle against Saraki went viral yesterday, it was shocking for some Nigerians to still see the embattled Kwara Politician in the midst of his party men and even the president who many believe is being used to facilitate a targeted war against Him (Saraki).

At that marriage ceremony in Kano, this suspicious picture was taken.

What could the Asiwaju of the Universe be telling Saraki that he looked this cool-headed and sober?

Is it part of the "impossible reconciliation " of his party men among who Saraki (who is believed to be perfecting plans to defect to the PDP) is a Chief aggrieved member?

What do you think?

PoliticsCheckout Ten Pro-buhari Senators That Saraki Is Plotting To Suspend For 1 Year by Upritman(op): 3:10pm On Feb 26, 2018
@Suanu'sBlog

About ten senators believed to be loyal to president muhammadu buhari who stood against the decision of the senate to alter the 2019 elections timetable as released by INEC may soon be suspended for a year by the Bukola Saraki-led national assembly.

The ten embattled senators include:
1. Abdullahi Adamu (Nassarawa West )
2. Abu Ibrahim (Katsina South)
3. Ali Wakil (Bauchi South)
4. Abdullahi Gumel (Jigawa North West)
5. Umar Kurfi (Katsina Central)
6. Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North)
7. Binta Garba Masi (Adamawa North)
8. Ovie Omo-Agege (Delta Central)
9. Andrew Uchendu (Rivers East)
10. Benjamin Uwajimogu (Imo North)

Vanguard quotes a source in the Senate as revealing that the Senator Samuel Anyanwu, PDP, Imo East led Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions is set to meet this week on the matter, just as the source said that the 10 senators who opposed the bill could be placed on one year suspension.

Suanu’s Blog recalls that the embattled ten senators had on February 14 walked out on the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki while he was still presiding, and went straight to the Senate Press Corps Centre to address Journalists, expressing their reservations and vehemently kicked against the bill.

The angry senators had described the move by their colleagues not only as a trash, but a rush, self-serving and targeted at the President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid, adding that the amendment was carried out in very bad faith which will not stand.
All the senators are of the ruling APC; only Senator Ovie Omo- Agege has officially apologized to the red chamber although he was redirected to defend himself before the Ethics Committee.

Saraki is bent on disciplining any erring member in order to frustrate the rumoured plot to unseat him as the number 3 citizen of Nigeria.

BusinessFirstbank Reacts To Rumours That Its Elephant May Swallow Customers Money by Upritman(op):
@Suanu'sBlog

One of Nigeria’s top financial institutions, First Bank of Nigeria Limited has reacted to the recent trend of animal swallowing public funds in Nigeria. The reportage of snake swallowing N36m at a JAMB Office and a monkey eating another N70m instead of Banana took a viral dimension with Nigerians extending it to almost every aspect of national and personal lives.

A twitter user with the handle, @officialrohkip had tweeted thus:

“With the way animals swallow money now, I will have to close my @FirstBankngr account. I don’t trust that elephant on their logo….”.

Acknowledging the power of the social media and the probable impacts that may have on its customer base, the bank addressed the issue in a separate tweet saying:

“The Elephant on our logo represents trust, integrity, dependability, and loyalty. Let your First Bank account remain open. We are your trusted ally. #Stillstanding #Stilldependable #YouFirst .

Unlike the snake and monkey alleged to have swallowed money, First Bank restated that the elephant on its logo does not swallow customers’ deposits.

PoliticsThe Implications Of Unending Rivers APC Crisis On Amaechi’s Political Career by Upritman(op):
@Suanu'sBog

As a young concerned citizen of Rivers state, I have watched with mixed feelings the recent crisis that has engulfed the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC. I am so concerned not as a member of the party but considering the general impact such crises will or can have on the bid of the party to fit into its main opposition mandate to critically tackle the current PDP administration of Gov.Nyesom Wike as well as proffer an alternative platform and candidature to Rivers People in the 2019 General Elections.

Centre of the crisis is Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who is the Leader of the party in the state and is alleged to be the South-South Leader of the party as well. The blame ball dropping at the table of Chief Amaechi is for obvious reasons which cannot be overemphasized.

Amaechi is one of the luckiest Nigerian politicians who from a very humble and rumoured poor background have grown into affluence and prominence in our polity. His political career is traced to Dr.Peter Odili who he worked for at his health facility called Pamo Clinics and Hospitals Limited in Port-Harcourt until 1992.

Thereafter he ventured into politics on the heels of Dr.Odili serving as Secretary of the now defunct National Republican Convention in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Sir (Dr.) Peter Odili, Rivers State's Secretary of the Democratic Party of Nigeria (DPN) caretaker committee, member of the Board of West Africa Glass Industry as well as Risonpalm Nigeria Limited, Speaker Rivers State House of Assembly, Chairman of Nigeria's Conference of Speakers of State Assemblies, Governor of Rivers State, Chairman, Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress 2015 Presidential Campaign and currently the Honorable Minister for Transportation, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Apart from the few years he worked at Odili’s Pamo Hospital, Amaechi owes all He is now to Nigeria’s taxpayers’ money from active involvement in politics. From that humble beginning, Amaechi is one of Nigeria’s national political figures.

For the purpose of this piece, I shall revisit key moments in Amaechi’s political life. One of such is how he became the Governor of Rivers State.
To say the least, many are still of the strong opinion that Amaechi ascended the seat of power in Rivers on the basis of “betrayal”. Betrayal of who? Sir Dr.Peter Odili of course. Amaechi owes a large chunk of his political glory to the former Rivers State Governor. Some people even claim that Amaechi was a “houseboy” to Dr.Odili. But whichever is the case, Odili is the brainbox of Amaechi’s political success story till date.
Considering all he had gained from Odili’s support before 2007, many political observers then had expected Amaechi to show immense gratitude and loyalty to his boss by accepting his decision on who succeeds him(Odili) as governor. However, a smart Amaechi couldn’t exercise patience into the mid of Odili’s second tenure when his obvious plot to succeed his boss by all means became obvious. That was the beginning of his fallout with his benefactor as he (Amaechi) launched a campaign against Odili, and verbally attacked his image.
He fought so hard and finally secured the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2006 against the ‘desire’ of his Boss. However Dr.Odili later outsmarted him temporarily by substituting his name for that of his cousin, Sir Celestine Omehia, whose loyalty was not in doubt (An act he later blamed on Abuja influence). The end of the episode was the bruising of Odili by a Supreme Court victory for Amaechi. The fact remains that if Amaechi had listened to and showed the required painful loyalty to his Boss then, he may have ended up not becoming the state governor, which would have in turn closed other political doors for him somehow.

Narrating all that transpired regarding the emergence of who succeeds Him and the subtle role of Mr.Amaechi, Dr.Odili in His book “Conscience and History” said:

“By 2001, barely 2 years into my first tenure as Governor of Rivers State the subterranean scheming for who will succeed me started among the young political team I had built since 1994/5.
One of our elder Statesmen (now late) one day said to me 'Your Excellency, you have made the Governance of Rivers State look so easy and sweet that some of these your young men think it's a 'piece of cake' and are already positioning to succeed you. They have no idea how tough it is to govern Rivers people. It is when you leave office that people will know" - (Chief A.K. Dikibo)

I finished my first term and won the election for my second term 2003-2007 most comfortably with minimal opposition. However with the approach of 2007 elections the subterranean schemes gradually came to the fore among the young men who were aspiring to succeed me. In the firm belief that power comes from God I decided to maintain a taciturn disposition about my preference.

As time passed, the race narrowed down and front-runners began to emerge and pressure for direction from me started being mounted by the party leadership and caucus.

I sustained my resistance to be dragged into the dog-fight for the primaries. After a protracted 'ping-pong' between me and the caucus I decided to conduct an intelligence search, deploying the necessary tools available officially and undercover. My search narrowed down to Rotimi Amaechi, Austin Opara and Abiye Sekibo for various reasons. I presented these to the caucus of the party who still insisted that I name one person. I still held my taciturn grounds.

My intelligence further revealed that while I was being goaded to name one of them as my preferred choice, behind the scene plots by some of the members of the caucus, to skew the primaries in favour of their own choice, with the connivance of some family members and Abuja Big Wigs were going on. The plot was deep and had gone far before I picked it up very close to the primaries. 1 felt 'Betrayed' and 'Set up' for ridicule. 1 therefore decided to intervene and ensure that a transparent process that would produce a popular winner democratically, was put in place. That is how Rotimi Amaechi emerged as the flag bearer of the party for the Governorship election in Rivers State.

This appeared not to have gone down well in Abuja, for a yet to be disclosed reason. Again suddenly, the EFCC came after Amaechi with all sorts of allegations, arrested him and had his travel documents seized. Rotimi Amaechi was incarcerated between the 12th -15th December, 2006 same period the spurious investigation and 'interim report' by the EFCC was being cooked up against me. He too, like my commissioners, was released as soon as I announced my withdrawal from the Presidential primaries on the 15th December, 2006 but his travel papers were still being held by the EFCC. We agreed and I supported him to challenge his disqualification and indictment legally. After the-Convention we all went back to Port Harcourt but the battle to get him off the PDP ticket raged on till late February, 2007. I made several trips to Abuja to secure the sustenance of Amaechi's ticket as the Governorship candidate of the PDP in Rivers State. The National leadership and the Presidency were clearly bent on not allowing the Amaechi ticket to stand. I fought back as much as 1 could. EFCC was unyielding in their resolve not to allow Amaechi as the candidate for Rivers. I was asked to nominate somebody else severally, and severally I refused to do so. At a very strange meeting at the Villa one night I was pointedly asked how come I had only one choice for my succession after 8 years in office. The last straw was the threat by Nuhu Ribadu to resign his position as EFCC Chair and apologise to Nigerians if Amaechi was allowed to be the candidate.

The shock of it all was President Obasanjo telling me that he did not want to be blackmailed so I should effect a change. I refused, and went back to Port Harcourt that night fully convinced that one had to take ones destiny in one's hands – Abuja was clearly not in a position to morally stand by us. Then started our legal battle for our State matter against the EFCC consideration of our defence options - "Self protection" is the key to survival.

My struggle to sustain Amaechi's ticket in spite of the obvious vehemence by Abuja leadership against it, continued.

Then came the zonal rallies for the Presidential campaign in Port Harcourt for the South/South. At this event the flag bearer for the various States in the zone were to be recognised by President and national leadership of the Party.

The flagbearers for Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Edo States were acknowledged and given their FLAGS. Rivers was said to have "K-Leg" and would be sorted out later.

The night preceding the rally gave birth to this ugly development when the national leadership was directed to ask me or rather instruct me to name a replacement for Amaechi or have one named for me the next day. It became obvious that I had lost the battle to save Amaechi's candidacy. I immediately sent for Amaechi and broke the sad news to him before anyone else could hear it. The need to constructively face the reality had arisen. We toyed with the idea of optional replacement for him. We eventually settled for CELESTINE OMEHIA - his cousin albeit reluctantly for reasons of peer- group and family rivalry. I felt that the State interest should over ride other considerations. Amaechi's reluctance was however not in doubt".

To axe Odili further despite his final victory, Amaechi went ahead to set up the so-called Kayode Eso 'Truth and Reconciliation Commission'.

From becoming the governor of the oil rich state, Amaechi launched his political dynasty and brought on board his own disciples. He reigned supreme in the state for almost seven years of his eight years tenure without any rivalry until his defection to the then newly formed All Progressives Congress, APC gave rise to one of his “boys” to wage war against him.

The second key issue of the Amaechi political life that I would also consider is how the Governorship flagbearer of the APC emerged in 2014.
Ahead of the 2015 general elections, there were high hopes that as an incumbent, Amaechi has all it takes to retain the state for his new party. This perhaps attracted more people to vie to take over power from him. Ofcourse it was to be keenly contested with many political observers pushing forward the candidature of Magnus Abe from the Ogoni axis of the state.

Surprisingly, Amaechi shut every other candidate out and announced in the name of a strange “consensus” that Dakuku Adol Peterside was the governorship candidate of the party. This undemocratic move angered many supporters and members of the however, a relative peace prevailed as moves were later taken to pacify the aggrieved members. Magnus Abe particularly was later given the senatorial ticket of the party. The strange fact that characterized all of the afore-discussed was that 99.9% of the party’s candidates lost the 2015 elections to Nyesom Wike and his team in what was described by legal icon Prof.Itse Sagay as the “bloodiest path to victory”.

Reacting to the elections in Rivers State and the decision of the Supreme Court, Prof.Sagay said:
“The judgments are very perverse, particularly relating to Akwa Ibom and Rivers. Everybody knows that there were no elections in those two states.
“Everybody knows that people like (Rivers State Governor, Nyesom) Wike climbed into the governorship seat over dead bodies and over bloods of human beings. There were no elections, they wrote the results; the evidence is there.
“What the Supreme Court has done is to set the clock of electoral excellence and fairness and credibility back by, I do not want to say a thousand years, but certainly it is taking us back to where we were before Jega came in and sanitize the system.
“We are going to have primitive and barbaric electoral culture; ‘kill as much as you can, destroy as much as you can, create as much catastrophe, but if you can find yourself on that seat, you are confirmed, regardless of the means by which you got there’.
“That is a very major setback to democracy and the rule of law.”
Amaechi’s party lost all in Rivers State and at such never contributed in any meaningful way to the victory of President Buhari. The rest is now history.

Ahead of the 2019 elections, as the party tries to launch a comeback, it is unfortunately enmeshed in another round of silence but obvious crisis. This time again solely related to who also gets the governorship ticket of the party. Like was the case in 2015, so many persons are said to be interested in getting the flag of the party, the handling of these rightful aspirations by the Supreme Leader of the party popularly called “The Lion” is what appears to be setting the party ablaze.

Amaechi was reported to have bluntly told Senator Magnus Abe to kill his rumoured governorship ambition in 2019 again. This godly move by Amaechi obviously might have angered Abe who went underground to launch his own political group within the party so as to mobilize fully to dare the god of Rivers APC ahead of the governorship primary election. The reaction of Amaechi to that move by Abe is part of what has further fuelled disunity in the ranks of the party.
While Abe seems to be waxing strong, the supremacy of Amaechi appears to be waning. This may not be unconnected to the solidarity support Abe seems to be getting from Rivers People across party borders.

With the doggedness and ruggedness of Governor Wike, his perceived performance especially in terms of projects delivery and his intimidating style of politics, the Rivers State chapter of the APC cannot afford to plunge itself into another round of dangerous self-inflicted crises. This is why Amaechi must do the needful.

If he fails to deliver in 2019, the implications will be so huge both in the state and at the federal level. This time, it will not only be about his financial contributions to the “reelection” of President Buhari or whoever gets the presidential ticket of the APC but how many votes Rivers State contributed to that bid. Apart from that, if another leader of the party is noted to have contributed more towards the success and victory of the party in the state, the nomination right which solely lies in the palms of Amaechi may fall off therefrom. This may not only deny him the opportunity to retain his ministerial seat (if Buhari recontests or wins) but will also throw him into political oblivion.

Acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead, Amaechi while speaking at a grand reception held in his honour by the Ikwerre Youth Movement recently said:
“…….this is our last battle; outside this, we (I) are (am) finished politically. If we win, we take over and if we lose we go home.” *bracketed words mine.
But the battle will begin from the way he handles the party’s primary elections especially that of the governorship. If He mismanages that, then he is as good as going home politically in line with his own prophecy.

To this end, I am passionately appealing to Mr.Amaechi that he urgently needs to take the following steps:
1. Show true leadership: The crisis that has been so far witnessed in Rivers State is a clear indication that Amaechi has failed in its position as a leader of the party. His actions, approaches and speeches have further divided the party and aggravated what now seems like a deep crisis. He should urgently review his actions generally and ensure they are in the best interest of the party.
2. He should be fair to all members of the party with political ambitions. He should act like a father to all aspirants, carry them along, attend their functions and show no bias, ill-will or discrimination towards any aspirant or tribe.
3. He should embark on true reconciliation with all aggrieved members or factions so far existing in the party in the state.
4. He should set aside his overbearing ego and listen to all in line with true leadership qualities.
5. He should use his position to empower members of the party especially those who lost loved ones and property during the massacre unleashed on the party members in the state.
6. He should cal all his Pro-Groups on social media attacking fellow party men and women to order in the overall interest of the party.
7. He must assure and reassure members of the party that he will ensure free, fair, and credible primary elections in the party ahead of the 2019 general polls
8. He must realize that Rivers People are watching keenly and realigning speedily ahead of the 2019 polls, his act must be such that builds and revives hope in the populace as a credible alternative instead of a political lord who wants to enslave us to his enclave.
9. He should avoid any temptation to be reappointed officially as the Director-General of Buhari’s reelection campaign organization.
10. H e should consider resigning as a Minister, nominate another credible Rivers Person to take his place and be at home to work assiduously towards the victory of his party in 2019.

Mr.Amaechi must realize that if he fails to act rightly this time and his brother (Gov.Wike) capitalizes on the crises to harvest key souls from the APC, then his political career is good as been over because if the APC manages to win at the centre without any meaningful voting contributions from Rivers State, some elements within the party may deny him all necessary compensations this time.

PoliticsBalarabe Musa Goes Against The North, Drums Support For Igbo Presidency In 2019 by Upritman(op): 10:56am On Feb 17, 2018
@Suanu'sBlog

Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa, has drummed support for the Igbos to produce the president of Nigeria in 2019.
Musa, who is a former governor of old Kaduna State and National Chairman of the defunct Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), called for the zoning of the 2019 presidency to the South-East.

Speaking in an interview with Saturday Sun in Kaduna, Musa said this has become necessary because the Igbo have been cheated for too long by denying them a shot at the presidency over the years.

The PRP national leader also alleged that Hausa and Yoruba should be held responsible for the political backwardness of the Igbo.
He wondered why the nation’s dominant ethnic groups find it difficult to tolerate an Igbo presidency, adding that the northern elders’ push for a consensus northern presidential candidate for the 2019 polls is all about their personal rather than national interests.
He warned that the bid is bound to fail like previous attempts.

“ Igbo are more Nigerian than the North or South West in terms of their commitments to the unity of Nigeria. And this is right from 1950s.
They are more committed to the Nigeria project. Let’s even talk of tribe; the Igbo are more committed to national unity. They have never expressed separatist tendency, until after the war because of the effect of the war. They have always been for one united Nigeria than the Yoruba and Hausa that have always been secessionists.
The Igbo are more competitive than the Hausa and the Yoruba. The Hausa and Yoruba bourgeoisie are afraid of this, in particular when there is so much to share in Nigeria. They are afraid of the Igbo because they are not competitive.
Igbo are more competitive because they don’t have inhibition. The inhibition of Hausa, the inhibition of Yoruba is not there. The Yoruba can only talk of Oduduwa, the Hausa can only talk to you about empires and so on. But the Igbo are not that inhibitive, they are more republican.
You can say largely that Igbo are free thinkers; they are more free thinkers than the Hausa and the Yoruba, which means Igbo can take things on face value, while the Yoruba and Hausa will not. Igbo are more competitive in terms of economic activities. An Igbo man is more competitive than a Yoruba man and an Hausa man.”

PoliticsDespite Zuma’s Honourable Resignation, I Won’t Pull Down His Statue–gov.okorocha by Upritman(op): 6:20pm On Feb 16, 2018
@Suanu'sBlog

Following the resignation of Ex-South-African President, Jacob Zuma, and the mocking outcry by Nigerians against the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, over the statue of Mr.Zuma who he erected last year, he (Okorocha) has said that he has no intention to pull down the statue despite what has happened to the former South-African Leader.

Okorocha in his reaction on Friday through his chief press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo insisted that the erection of the statue is justified.

According to Him, the statue was erected when Zuma was in power and not after he left office and that the former leader also resigned “honourably.”

“On the Jacob Zuma’s statue in Owerri and the resignation of the man few days ago as president of South Africa, the statue will not be pulled down,” the statement read.

“The statue was erected when the man was a sitting president. We should also be keen in his life story.

“For instance, a man who didn’t receive any formal education but rose to play a major role in the freedom of his people and also became president of one of the leading African nations calls for sober reflection. He also resigned honourably.”

He added that following Zuma’s condemnation of the killing of Nigerians in South Africa, “the situation came under control to a large extent”.

The governor said the former South African leader did not come to the state “for politics”, rather, he came “to partner Rochas Foundation College for Africa.”

“And even after his departure as president, he would still go ahead to make his contributions to the education of the less privileged children in Africa,” he said.

“And whatever Okorocha has done in Imo, he has done so for the good of the people.

“Imo people have seen our monumental achievements and have also read criticisms against us. But seeing they say, is believing and not reading.”

Suanu’s Blog recalls that Gov.Okorocha had in October 2017 erected a statue of the former South African president in Owerri, the state capital, a move that had angered many Nigerians.

After the resignation of Mr. Zuma amid allegations of fraud, some Nigerians have asked Gov.Okorocha to destroy the statue.

PoliticsWho Is The First Born Again Vice President Of Nigeria? by Upritman(op): 7:46am On Feb 10, 2018
@SuanusBlog

Have you been wondering who the first born-again vice president of Nigeria is from 1960? Think no further as president Buhari’s vice, Prof.Yemi Osinbajo has revealed that He is the one.
Osinbajo revealed this while speaking on Friday at St. Peter:s Anglican Church, Otun-Ekiti, Ekiti State, during the burial ceremony of Pa Daniel Olajide Adebiyi.

According to Him, his role in President Muhammadu Buhari's administration is to add to the integrity, do the right thing and push the government in the right way.

Osinbajo noted that there is a divine purpose for him being the first born-again Christian and pastor elected as Nigeria's vice president.

He said: "I believe very strongly that there is a reason for my being elected as Vice President, and possibly the first born-again Christian, the first pastor to have been elected as Vice President. God is not the God of accident. He understands expertly what He wants to do. My role there is to add to the integrity, to do the right thing and make sure that we push our government in the right way."

The vice president, who asked for prayers, said: "This is a golden opportunity for us as Christians. When the two of us agree on anything, the Lord our God will bring it to pass. Agree with me that our country will be great and our country will be great."

PoliticsSee The Shocking Items Abia Senator Empowered His Constituents With by Upritman(op): 2:21pm On Feb 08, 2018
@SuasnusBlog

The Senator representing Abia North in the national assembly, Mao Arukwe Ohuabunwa has empowered selected women from his constituency.

The shocking items with which the lawmaker empowered the women included frying pan and gas bottles.

At an event to distribute the items were the supporters of the Senator, community Leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

It is hoped that with the items, the beneficiaries can atleast start the business of frying akara and other snacks and be saved from the hurdles of doing that with firewood.
The beneficiaries and others who graced at the event thanked the lawmaker for his thoughtfulness promising to return the favour in the 2019 general election.

Suanu’s Blog recalls that Senator Mao narrowly defeated former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu of the Peoples Progressive Alliance,PPA in the senatorial rerun election that sealed his mandate.

But could this be the best way a Senator earning millions of tax payers’ money can empower his people?

EducationUNIPORT Professor Begs For Financial Assistance Online,Says "I'm Now A Destitude by Upritman(op): 9:37am On Feb 02, 2018
@SuanusBlog

Professor Andrew Efemini of the University of Port-Harcourt in Rivers State has taken to social media to beg for financial assistance from Nigerians, describing himself as a "destitute".

Efemini who is a professor of philosophy of development and a social commentator took to his social media page to explain his ordeal urging Nigerians to help him urgently.

In a post on Facebook, the vocal prof wrote:

I AM NOW A DESTITUTE

"Having survived five months as against the statutory three months of suspension, I am left with no option but to inform the public that I now need financial support to continue to survive.

I have informed the university in writing that as a diabetic and hypertensive patient, my life is threatened by the cut of my salary as a result of my suspension from duty to allegations over students related agitations over fee policies of the university of Port Harcourt.

I have contemplated suicide severally with a suicide message for the Nigerian people on how a Professor or anybody at that should not be treated. I hope the university of Port Harcourt will take note of this paragraph.

I see people who are supposed to be my friends pass me everyday unconcerned about how I survive. May be that is human nature.

Not even the Union ASUU has shown concern about my life threatening conditions. The Union where I was branch chairman for five years. Strange things happen.

Please, concerned Nigerians should come to my aid. I need at least N50,000 each month to buy my insulin alone. I also buy other drugs. I have a to also run.

Please don't ignore this post. It is my last effort to stay alive. People who think that speaking for students is a crime must be put to shame.
