PoliticsGet Ready To Die In 2019, Gov.Yari Tells Senator Marafa by Upritman(op): 8:19am On Feb 02, 2018
@SuanusBlog

The Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari has vowed to “kill” the Senator representing Zamfara Central, Kabiru Marafa in 2019.
The statement follows an allegation by the embattled senator that the governor and his deputy were responsible for the insecurity in Zamfara state.
Senator Marafa had stated this on the floor of the senate on Wednesday while contributing to Senate debate on insecurity in Nigeria, alleged that governor Yari and his deputy run criminal gangs who have been laying siege on the state, adding that the criminal gangs and militias had kidnapped some persons in his community.
However, Gov.Yari who spoke through one of his Special Advisers, Alhaji Salisu Isah at a press conference in Kaduna on Thursday said Senator Marafa was only playing politics with security of lives of Zamfara people without contributing anything to end the challenges, stressing that he was seeking unnecessary relevance ahead of 2019 elections and at such should get ready to be killed politically in 2019.
He explained, “Yes we are going to kill him politically, we are going to bury his political ambition in 2019. He wants to be governor, he is not going to get it, even the Senate he is not going to return.”
Reading from his prepared text, the governor’s aide added, “the Senator displayed his fraudulent character and l made it a duty to respond to these reckless allegations with the view to among other reasons let the world know the character of Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa and why he cannot be taken seriously.
”It is irresponsible and cheap blackmail for Senator Marafa to state that governor Yari and his deputy were responsible for the insecurity in Zamfara state.”
According to him, this was because, “on his inauguration, governor Yari has stated among his administration’s key priorities is to address the menace of insecurity in the state; especially cattle rustling, kidnapping and armed banditry that has denied Zamfara people of sound sleep for many years.
“Shortly after assuming office, governor Yari has paid several visits to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces as well as Military Service Chiefs to appeal for the federal government assistance to tackle the menace of insecurity occasioned by cattle rustling, armed banditry and criminality in the state.
“This is to underscore the commitment of the governor towards ending insecurity and criminality in Zamfara State as against what Senator Marafa alleged.”
He, however, said, “There is no record anywhere to indicate the contributions of the Senator towards addressing the problem. What is in public domain is the Senator’s politicking and noise making to seek undue relevance and hypocritical display of fake loyalty to President Buhari.”
Salisu added, “The Senator should not be taken seriously because the allegations he raised are baseless, mischievous and unfounded.
“Instead of Senator Marafa to look for ways to assist the state government, he is busy making noise and seeking undue relevance.
“The question one should ask is what is the contribution of Marafa towards solving the insecurity problems in Zamfara State If he claims to be concerned as a Senator representing the people of Zamfara Central Senatorial Zone?”
Speaking on the Governor’s efforts, Isha said, “Apart from the federal government intervention, governor Yari sought self-help by mobilizing local vigilante to confront the security challenges in the state.
“Yari went out of his way to reach a peace agreement with the leaders of these known criminal gangs all in an effort to ensure government guarantees security of lives and property in Zamfara state.”

Politics"Senators Will Use APC Restructuring Committee Report As Toilet Paper" - Sani by Upritman(op): 11:39am On Jan 31, 2018
@SuanusBlog

Senator Shehu Sani of the ruling All Progressives Congress has revealed that the report of the restructuring committee headed by the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Elrufai will be used as toilet paper and for wrapping suya and Akara whenever it gets to the senate.

Sani, who represents Kaduna Central in the National Assembly stated this on Tuesday while criticising the report of the committee constituted by his party to address the issue of restructuring.

The die-hard critic of Gov.Elrufai while insisting that there will be no restructuring in the country before or after 2019 elections, described the report as a ‘political gimmick’.

He said: “When eventually the El-Rufai restructuring committee reaches the senate, it will be photocopied to 109 pieces and shared to the senators to use as Toilet paper. If there are extra copies, it will be shared to Suya and Akara hawkers outside the National Assembly to use it to wrap their products.

“El-Rufai restructuring report will be shredded and modify to serve as a good toilet paper for senators. If there’s seriousness in restructuring it could have started in 2015.”

According to Sani, the report was aimed at diverting people’s attention from a letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“El-Rufai APC restructuring committee is self-serving, political gimmick aimed at diverting attention away from Obasanjo’s letter. It’s also a campaign document for 2019. It’s not a report worthy of the paper it was written,” Mr. Sani said.

Mr. Sani wondered how APC would expect Nigerians to take its sudden restructuring move serious after appointing an anti-restructuring Governor to head the committee.

“El-Rufai is anti-restructuring. There will be no restructuring before and after 2019.The President had repeatedly made it clear that the problem is process so what are we talking about.

“El-Rufai simply want to eat his cake and have it; orally calling supporters of restructuring as opportunists and on the other hand submitting a report in support of it,” he said.

Suanu’s Blog recalls that the committee recommended devolution of power to states, establishment of state police and independent candidacy among others.

Politics13 Key Recommendations Of APC Restructuring Committee by Upritman(op): 1:59pm On Jan 26, 2018
In the midst of the heated debate on the issue of restructuring the country, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC had inaugurated a committee to look at all the issues of concern to Nigerians and proffer recommendations.

After several months of navigating across the country, the committee headed by Gov.Nasir Elrufai of Kaduna State on Thursday submitted the report to the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Gov.Elrufai said:

“After four months of rigorous research, we are pleased to inform the chairman we have completed our assignment and are here to present our report. Our report is in four volumes.”

“The report is in four volumes with Volume One containing background information of the research and recommendations; Volume Two, Action plans from the research to implement its resolution and draft of bills; Volume 3, Media reports and the result of the online survey of the issue; and Volume Four, the appendix- summary of all memoranda received.

“I’ll like to highlight some principal recommendation by the committee. We articulated 14 issues re-occuring in previous conferences.

“At the end of our rigorous research, debates and deliberations, we came up with 24 items that Nigerians have indicated interest views that balance our federation.

“These items are; creation of states, merger of states, delegation principle, fiscal federalism, devolution of power and resources between state, federal and local governments, federating units, form of government, independent candidacy, land tenure system, local government autonomy ,power sharing and rotation, resource control, types of legislature, demand for affirmation for vulnerable groups;people with disabilities, women and youth, ministerial appointment, citizenship, state constitution, community participation, minimum wage, governance, judiciary, state re-alignment and border adjustment, circular status of the federation; and referendum.

“We articulated only 13 issues from the various opinions expressed by Nigerians in our engagement, identified these 24 issues for which the committee deliberated and has made recommendations in the report.

“We went ahead to look at these recommendations to convert them into concrete actions that the party, government and the national assembly can take to re-balance our federation.

These items are:

Merger of states

“The first item that we thought needed legislative action is merger of states because creation of states is already in the Constitution; so there is a procedure, so there was no action needed.

“However, it is appropriate to point out, Mr. Chairman, that only 36 percent of Nigerians want more states created. so majority of Nigerians don’t want creation of states.”

“So, the first recommendation for which we have proposed a draft bill for constitution amendment is the merger of states. Though there was no consensus from stakeholders on the merger of states, we felt that we should propose a bill that allows state to merge and it is up to the party, the National Assembly and the people of Nigeria to decide on that. But we drafted a bill that is there for the party and the government to move on with.

Delegation principle

“The second that we have considered is the delegation principle. Here, it is recommended that the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission Act be amended to vest the commission with the power and responsibility to periodically review the delegation formula and make proposal to the President who shall then table the said before the National Assembly for legislation.

“We have therefore drafted a bill that will expand section six sub section one of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission act to give them that power. The bill is in Volume 2 of our report.

Fiscal federalism

“We also have recommendation on fiscal federalism and revenue allocation in which we propose amending section 162 and sub-section two of the Constitution; as well as amend the revenue allocation of revenue Federation Account Act to give more revenue to the states and reduce the federal government’s share of revenue.

“This again is what we got as feedback from majority of Nigerians that the state should get more revenue and the federal government should slim down a little.

Devolution of power

“This recommendation, has to do with the devolution of powers. There was overwhelming popular demand for the devolution of power to the states by the federal government, and the committee recommends the same.

“Accordingly, we have proposed that the Second Schedule of Part One and Part Two of the Constitution should be amended to transfer some items that are now on the Exclusive List to the Concurrent List that will enable both then states and the federal government to legislate on them.

“Under devolution of power, there are items that were recommended to be moved from the Exclusive List to the Concurrent.

Here are the items:

” 10 items have been identified for the movement from the Executive List to the Concurrent List.

– Food and Drugs

“Food, drugs, poison, narcotics and psychotropic substances. We are proposing an amendment to the Constitution for the president to keep narcotics and psychotropic should be left on the Exclusive List while food drug and poison should be moved to Concurrent List so that state can legislate on these items in addition to the federal government. At the moment only the federal government can legislate on them.

– Fingerprint identification of criminals

“The second item is finger print and identification of criminal records. This is currently on the Exclusive List. The committee for feedback received from Nigerians recommendations that they should be moved to the Concurrent List.”

-Registration of business names

“The third item is registration of business names. Registration of business names for firms that want to operate throughout Nigeria should be done at the federal level. For small businesses that wan to work exclusively within the state, they should be registerable at the level of the state. we recommend that that should be moved to the Concurrent List as well.”

-Labour matters

“We have also recommended that labour matters should be moved to the Concurrent List such that the federal government and the sate can legislate on these matters. Labour, including trade unions, industrial relations, safety and well-being of labour, industrial disputes and prescribing minimal wage and industrial arbitration should be in the state. Meaning every state can determine its minimum wage.”

– Mines and minerals.

“The fifth item is mines and minerals, including oil fields, oil mining, geological and natural gas. This should be moved to the Concurrent List. However, all offshore oil shall remain absolutely vested in the government of the federation.

“I think it is time to take these bold steps and move away from over-centralisation.

-The police.

“Item six, police. We have also moved to the Concurrent List. We are recommending that police should be both federal and state.”

-Prisons.

“We have also recommended that prisons should be moved from the Exclusive List to the Concurrent List, where we can have federal prisons and state prisons. This will make more prisons available and reduce the burden of the federal government.”

-Public holiday

” Item eight is public holiday. We want public holiday to be moved from the Exclusive List to the Concurrent List so that there will be federal public holidays and state public holidays. This is already happening unconstitutionally. This will just make the action of state governments lawful and legal and avoid confrontation from the federal government.

-Stamp duties

“Finally, we are recommending that stamp duties, legislation on stamp duties should be moved to the Concurrent List. The state will only legislate on stamp duties only for transactions involving individual s and business needs but not limited liabilities that are incorporated in the government of the federation.

“We believe that if these amenddment are passed by the National Assembly, they will significantly re- balance our federation, devolve more powers to the states, reduce the burden of the federal government and make our country work better.

“We have taken into consideration reports of all constitutional conferences and put this before Nigerians in 2017 and this is the feedback that we got, and we drafted the bill that will enable that to be passed by the National Assembly and the state Houses of Assembly.”

Independent candidacy

“The next recommendation is on independent candidacy. The committee knows that majority of respondents are opposed, surprisingly to independent candidacy. However, the committee still recommends that the party should support the demand for widening the political space by allowing for independent candidates. We believe that this will make the political party more honest.

“We have included in the bill that no one that wants to run as an independent candidate should be a member of any political party six months to the election. We have put enough safeguards in our recommendation to ensure that independent candidacy is not a platform for opportunism.

“We have put four safeguards. One; anybody that wants to stand for elective positions as an independent candidate, should not be a registered member of any political party at least six months before the date set for the election for which he intends to contest.

“Number two, his nominators will not be members of any registered political party. Three; independent candidate must pay an amount to INEC in the same range as the non refundable fees payable by candidates sponsored by political parties to their parties. So instead of paying to the parties, you now pay to INEC.

“Finally, the candidate must also meet all qualification requirements by the Constitution or any other, which is better than the independent candidate amendment.

Local government

“The next recommendation has to do with local government autonomy.

There are divergent opinions on this. We recommend that the current system of local government administration as provided by the Constitution to be amended and the state be allowed to enact laws to local government that is peculiar to each of them.

“We propose amendments to sections 7,8,162 of the First Schedule and Fourth Schedule of the Constitution to give effect to our recommendation.”

“We are by this recognising the federal government which can only be two tiers of government. Having three tiers of government is an arbitration, there is nowhere in the world where our research has shown us there are three tiers of government.”

Revenue allocation

“We have also proposed amending Section One of the Allocation of Revenue Federation Act to reflect this reality. We have also proposed amendment to section 40 to the Value Added Tax Act. They are in Volume Two.

“There is the question of what people call resource control. The committee noted the growing agitation by states to exercise control over natural resources within their respective territories and pay taxes and royalties to the federal government. If this recommendation is taken, then there will consequential amendment.

Citizenship.

“The issue of citizenship has been addressed by our report.’

Ministerial appointment.

“Arising from this is the issues of ministerial appointment. The president should have the freedom to nominate ministers from any part of the country, subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Judiciary

“There are also recommendations on the judiciary. the National Judicial Council as the single judicial in Nigeria is operating a unitary judicial system in a federal system. So we have proposed amendment to the Constitution to create a state judicial council that will appoint an discipline judges in a state while the National Judicial Council will exercise control over the appointments, discipline of judges of the federal government only. By that, we have proposed the creation of a state court of appeal.”

State re-alignment and boundary adjustment

“We have proposed constitutional amendments on state re-alignment and boundary adjustment to section A sub-section 2 and A sub-section a 4 if required .”

Referendum

“We have a constitutional amendment to enable a referendum to be undertaken on national issues. Right now, our constitution has no provision for referendum except in the creation of states.”

Speaking after receiving the report, Chief Oyegun said;

“Today, we have a report produced by some of the most intelligent, young Nigerians dealing with the most fundamental challenges.

“The concept is accepted, the need for it is accepted but what exactly do we mean. are we talking on a federation based on eight zones, six zones or what?.

“From the presentation of the chairman of this committee, everyone now has an idea of what the APC stands for when you say true federalism.”

“It is still going to go through the mill but what I will promise you, Mr. Chairman and members of the committee, for you hard work that you have put in for four to five months, is that this report is going to get expeditious consideration by the party.”

“I am going to promise that before the middle of February, it would have been considered and decided upon by the various structures of the party.

“The NEC and the Caucus of the party and whatever is there after will be presented to the authorities as the considered view and decision of the APC for appropriate implementation.”

It is unclear if the recommendations of the committee will be accepted by the generality of Nigerians or not.

PoliticsIgnore My Phd Degree And Continue To Call Me "Chief Obasanjo" -- Ex-president by Upritman(op): 3:55pm On Jan 22, 2018
A former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed that despite his recent PhD degree, he would still prefer to be addressed as ‘Chief Obasanjo’ and not “Dr Obasanjo”.

In an interview with Premium Times, he explained why he would not want to be called ‘Dr’, he said, “I think I prefer to remain as ‘Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’ to avoid confusion. My first son, Olusegun Obasanjo, holds a Ph.D in Architecture. So when you say Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo, you might be referring to me or to him.
“But that my son is not yet a chief, so I am higher than him in that. If you say ‘Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’ there is no question who you are referring to. That is me, and not my son.

“There are those saying I should now be called ‘Chief Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo’. Me, I don’t know about that o. As far as I am concerned, that is too complicated.

Suanu’s Blog recalls that the former Nigeria leader on Saturday made history by been decorated as the first PhD Graduate of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Obasanjo bagged a PhD in Christian Theology and was widely celebrated for achieving that even in old age.

PoliticsLike Gov.okorocha, UK Premier Appoints 'minister For Loneliness' by Upritman(op): 3:28pm On Jan 17, 2018
In what could be a quick reminder of the antecedents of Gov.Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, the British Government has appointed a “minister for loneliness”.

The appointment which was announced on Wednesday is aimed at tackling what Prime Minister Theresa May described as “the sad reality of modern life” affecting millions of people.

A junior minister for sport and civil society, named Tracey Crouch will take on the role as part of a broader strategy to combat loneliness in Britain.

“For far too many people, loneliness is the sad reality of modern life,” May said.

“I want to confront this challenge for our society and for all of us to take action to address the loneliness endured by the elderly, by carers, by those who have lost loved ones — people who have no one to talk to or share their thoughts and experiences with,” the prime minister added.

According to the British Red Cross, more than nine million people say they are always or often lonely, out of a population of 65.6 million.

The charity describes loneliness and isolation as a “hidden epidemic” affecting people across all ages at various moments in their life, such as retirement, bereavement or separation.

The ministerial appointment follows a recommendation from a committee in memory of Jo Cox, a lawmaker for the opposition Labour party who was murdered by a far-right extremist.

“Jo experienced and witnessed loneliness throughout her life especially as a new student at Cambridge University and separated from her sister Kim for (the) first time,” the Jo Cox Foundation wrote on Twitter.

“She would be delighted by Tracey Crouch’s new job as minister for loneliness and would be saying ‘let’s get to work!'” the Foundation added.

The prime minister was to host a reception on Wednesday to celebrate the legacy left by Cox, whose killing just days ahead of the 2016 Brexit referendum shocked the nation.

Britain’s loneliness initiative will see a strategy published later this year, with input from national and local government, public services, the voluntary sector and businesses.

It is hoped that by this similar action, those who were blaming Gov.Okorocha for taking a bold step to make his people happy will have a rethink.

PoliticsYou Are Fulani Stooges, IPOB Slams Igbo Governors, Ohanaeze Ndigbo by Upritman(op): 7:51am On Jan 17, 2018
@Suanusblog

The Indigenous People of Biafra on Tuesday resurrected to lambast Governors of Igbo extraction and Ohanaeze Ndigbo, accusing them of been stooges of the Fulani hegemony.

The secessionist group’s position is coming as suspected Fulani herdsmen cause more deaths in various parts of the country.

IPOB blamed its accusation on the silence of South-East Governors and the apex socio-cultural group of Igbos.

The Group stated this on Tuesday in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful. While wondering why the Igbo leaders kept quiet over the killings by herdsmen but were quick at proscribing innocuous IPOB, Powerful maintained that the unfolding scenario had shown that the Igbo leaders were taking orders from the Fulani oligarchy.

“In view of the ongoing unwarranted killings, including the massacre of innocent citizens throughout Nigeria by Fulani herdsmen, we the Indigenous People of Biafra and our leadership worldwide, wish to ask South-East governors and Nnia Nwodo-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo why they have maintained a cowardly silence?

“Why didn’t they command their fellow northern governors and Arewa Consultative Forum to proscribe or ban the activities of Fulani terror herdsmen as northern governors and elders commanded them to do during Operation Python Dance?

“It is on record that Okezie Ikpeazu and other South-East governors, with the support of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, openly announced in Enugu that IPOB peaceful activities had been proscribed.

“That singular pronouncement by Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State gave impetus to the military to hastily label IPOB a terror group.

“What Fulani herdsmen have been doing is mass murder and orchestrated genocide, yet the anti-IPOB voices from the South-East have fallen silent.

“They are scared of making the same demands the northern politicians forced them to make in the case of IPOB.

“This has clearly shown that South-East governors and Nnia Nwodo-led Ohanaeze are opportunistic charlatans that will do anything to please the North in return for power and wealth”, the statement read in part.

Politics2019: CAN Calls On Christians To Stone Pastor Bakare For Playing With God’s Name by Upritman(op): 4:49pm On Jan 13, 2018
@SuanusBlog

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has called for the stoning of popular cleric, Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly. The call by the umbrella body of Christians in Nigeria followed an earlier claim by the pastor that God has told him to run for the 2019 presidential election.

The Secretary General of CAN, Rev. Musa Asake, accused Pastor Bakare of playing with the name of God wondering why Bakare failed the first time he made same declaration in 2011 also in the name of God.

Rev. Asake insists that God does not lie, adding that people should be stoned when such declarations made in the name of God fail to materialize.

In an interview with Vanguard, He said, “Let’s wait to see. If God has ordained him to be the president, fine, it’s next year, so let’s wait and see. I don’t know how they read their bible.

“The Bible is very clear. Anybody who says he’s a prophet and prophesies and it doesn’t come to pass, the Bible stated that you take him out of the city and stone him.

“These people that are just making a name and playing with God’s name, they don’t know that when their end begins to crumble, they will have no place to stay.

“It was the same God that asked him to run with Muhammadu Buhari in 2011 and they didn’t win, so, why then will he declare that God sent him? Don’t let me think his God is different from the God we worship. That’s not my God.

“There’s nowhere my God has said anything and it failed. These people must be serving a small letter god. God asked him to run with Buhari and that they were going to make it, finally he did not. Buhari later picked another pastor, Yemi Osinbajo.

“Maybe he was wishing they would have picked him but it was the same God that was misdirecting him. And now God is bringing him back again so we will wait to see that God again next year God willing.”

Suanu's Blog recalls that Pastor Tunde Bakare had made the declaration before his congregation during the New Year’s Eve service at the Latter Rain Assembly in the Ogba area of Lagos State.

It may interest you to know that as a running mate to General Muhammadu Buhari in 2011 on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, the duo were defeated by former President, Goodluck Jonathan.

Christianity EtcPort-harcourt-based Pastor Says “there Is No Hellfire” by Upritman(op): 8:19am On Jan 10, 2018
A Pastor based in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers State capital known as Bishop Bernard Ufuoma has opined that there is nothing like hell fire. The cleric who stated this in a post on his official Facebook Page simply wrote : “Don’t Be Scared, There Is No Hell Fire”. This goes against the common teachings and beliefs of Pastors and Christians.
While some of his friends and followers agreed with him wholeheartedly, others accused him of twisting the Bible and spreading falsehood in a desperate bid to lead many people astray.

Suanu’s Blog recalls that Bishop Ufuoma after keenly following the unending debates on tithe collection by men of God spearheaded by OAP Freeze had recently announced that he was not going to take tithe in his church again.
He is known for very authoritative and ‘strange’ teachings on the Bible which in most cases go against common beliefs and practices of both orthodox and Pentecostal Christians.
Bishop Ufuoma Bernard is the founder of the Godist Church in Oyigbo, Rivers State who boasts of having what it takes to make people RICH, HAPPY AND POPULAR. He also calls himself “the president of Godism”.

CrimeLessons From The Life, Times And Activities Of Dreaded Cultist, Don Wanny by Upritman(op): 7:23am On Jan 10, 2018
@Suanu's Blog

The joy that greeted the final killing of a notorious kidnapper, mass murderer, cultist and militant leader in the Niger Delta was so glaring in a press release by the Nigerian Army even to the extent of pleading with Nigerians to make the “achievement” by the security agents to go viral. Good and courageous effort anyway, considering the troubles the deceased has caused to security operatives, residents and indigenes of Omuko town in Rivers State and its environs. The final fall of Don Wanny deserves widespread celebration as atleast it might have just saved those who were on his terror list from death.

Don Wanny was one of those persons in the Niger Delta that benefitted immensely from criminality and was to an extent celebrated and honoured, what for? Perhaps for his wealth and influence from obvious criminal ventures. He unlike the likes of Ateke Tom, Asari Dokubo and others chose to play double standards and continued in his criminal activities which perhaps led to his sad but justifiable end. Being fingered for the death of hundreds of persons in his Ogba/Egbemma/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State and other parts of the state and Niger Delta at large, Don Wanny and his boys were also involved in kidnapping of locals and expatriates, oil bunkering activities, armed-robbery, political thuggery and assassination missions among others.

He made so much money and influence from his chosen venture, had sustaining protection from the political class, built mansions and created a community for himself and his boys, got a chieftaincy title and acquired other luxurious things of life to guarantee his comfort, yet continued in his trade even against all odds and more accusing fingers at him. From 2014 leading to the 2015 general elections, Omoku town has witnessed more bloody crises and violence than any other part of Rivers State with hundreds of human beheadings recorded. People deserted their homes for possible attacks, property worth millions were destroyed and business activities within the area terribly affected with some companies even threatening to relocate to Lagos.

The people had felt a sign of relief was finally coming their way when Don Wanny and his boys accepted the amnesty offered by the Rivers State Government in 2016. However, his amnesty acceptance turned into another jamboree and opportunity for to have released his expired weapons as he obviously seemed to have acquired more sophisticated ones.

Months after the acceptance of amnesty, the much expected peace still eluded Omoku and its environs and more fingers were still pointing at Don Wanny. First, it was a local vigilante set up in his Ogba/Egbemma/Ndoni local government area that started a man hunt for him and his boys. For daring the almight Don Wanny, the group recorded so many casualties as boys loyal to Wanny killed some of them. Secondly, the local vigilante group launched a further manhunt for him in collaboration with other security agencies in the state including the Army, Police etc. the discoveries after this event which led to the raid on the mansion and shrine of Mr.Wanny was another indication that his end was near. But luckily for him, he cheated death again as according to the Army, He narrowly escaped with wounds while some of his boys became first victims.

Thereafter, he was declared wanted and efforts to get him intensified. Yet a bold Wanny shockingly spoke from his hiding place explaining his innocence and vowed for vengeance on security agents and others he accused of targeting his life. After these threats, more deaths were recorded in the area by Don Wanny and his boys. It was so much that within the first four days of the new year, 2018 over 35 persons have been killed in villages in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni and Emohua Local Government Areas of Rivers State.

Following a presidential directive, the declaration of a special N200m bounty by Gov.Nyesom Wike and intensed efforts by security agents, the almighty Don Wanny met his waterloo in a perceived safe haven outside his traditional home as he was finally gunned down along side some of his boys. This simply confirms the sayings that “Those who live by the guns shall also die by the guns” and “sowing begets reaping”. Even his life investment in his luxury mansion has been completely destroyed and anything related to him will of course be confiscated by the government. What then was the essence of such barbarism?

In his times, Don Wanny had it all, lived a completely luxurious life, had so many heart-warming connections with top politicians and oil companies from where he made millions of cheap evil money. He was so powerful, deadly and influential even to the extent of been honoured with a chieftaincy title in his community. There were expectations that he was soon going to be crowned as the traditional ruler of his community. But all these ended as sheer vanities.

Like other criminals, Don Wanny had several golden opportunities to have turned a new leaf in life but he pursued his greed and continued in his wicked venture. It is believed that many of his partners and loyalist who have survived the attack that killed their master would have a sober reflection over the end of their Oga and voluntarily submit themselves to security agencies as a renewed manhunt followed by the announcement of a whooping N640m new bounty by the state government may just lead them the Don-Wanny Way.

It is also expected that the security agents will also put in similar efforts to also ensure the arrest or death of other very dangerous criminal gang leaders within the Niger Delta region and the country at large, including killer herdsmen that have taken the dimension of another Boko Haram in disguise.

PoliticsModify Your Grazing Law Or The Killings Will Continue, Miyetti Allah Tells Ortom by Upritman(op): 7:20am On Jan 09, 2018
@SuanusBlog

As families continue to mourn the gruesome murder of their loved ones by Fulani Herdsmen in Benue State, the umbrella body of cattle breeders in the country, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, has bluntly told the Benue State Governor, Dr.Samuel Ortom to modify the anti-open grazing law in Benue State or the killings may just continue.

In an interview with the Punch, the Secretary-General of the association, Usman Ngelzerma said :
“I like the Benue State governor. He is a peace-loving person but is working on wrong advice. The approach he took is wrong. You cannot change the way of life of a people like the way you turn off a light switch.

“We don’t wish for the crisis to continue but let us give it (the law) another look. We don’t like the killings; we will never condone the killing of people. Give the farmers their rights but consider the pastoralists too.”

He lamented the high-handedness of the livestock guards employed by the state government to enforce the anti-open grazing law and accused them of extorting money from the pastoralists.
He also blamed a faction of the association known as Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, which endorsed the then President Goodluck Jonathan in the build-up to the 2015 election, for issuing threats before the latest attacks in Benue State.

According to Ngelzerma, the fighting between the herdsmen and the livestock guards led to the January 1 killings in five communities in the Guma and Logo Local Government Areas of the state in which over 20 persons were murdered.

He said, “The livestock guards have constituted themselves to the police and the court at the same time. They impose penalties on herdsmen, fine them huge sums of money before releasing them. That was the situation before this crisis erupted.

“I was told that shortly before this crisis, the guards went to make some arrests in a particular community and they met stiff resistance from the Fulani because they were already tired of the persistent harassment from the guards, not the police or the DSS, army or constituted authority.

“This was what led to the violence and unnecessary deaths that followed which we do not condone.”

He added that the passage of the Grazing Reserve Bill into law by the National Assembly would ultimately stop herdsmen from encroaching on farmlands.

PoliticsAppointment As Buhari's Campaign DG: Amaechi Must Resign As Minister -- PDP by Upritman(op): 7:35am On Jan 05, 2018
@SuanusBlog

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to resign. The party's demand follows the purported appointment of Mr.Amaechi as the Director-General of President Buhari reelection campaign organization.

Few days ago, This Day had reported the latest appointment of the former Rivers State Governor into the same position he occupied in the 2015 presidential election for Mr.Buhari. However, Spokesman of the President, Femi Adesina has debunked the appointment explaining that the president was yet to even decide to contest the 2019 poll.

The PDP in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan said;
“If APC has any strand of dignity, then Amaechi must resign as the Minister of Transportation having been appointed and already functioning as the DG of President Buhari’s Campaign. “Under the constitution of Nigeria, Mr. Amaechi cannot combine the job of a Minister of the Federal Republic with another responsibility such as the DG of a campaign organization. “Amaechi’s action in accepting the job while still holding office as Minister is in clear breach of the oath of office and the oath of allegiance, which he swore in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). He should therefore resign his office as minister with immediate effect”.

The party while blaming Amaechi's acceptance of the task on his "desperation" recalls how as a serving Minister of Works, Chief Tony Anenih was appointed to head the campaign of then President Olusegun Obasanjo, the former resigned his cabinet appointment.

Accusing the APC of insensitivity at a time when many Nigerians are angry, hungry and suffering, the PDP said;

“Is it not instructive for Nigerians to now know that the APC has not the littlest agenda on governance for our people and do not have the interest of Nigerians at heart? They have shown that all they care for is their selfish political and pecuniary interests”,

The party further reminded Nigerians of the need to vote massively for it in the 2019 elections as a sure way of ending the era of the APC which she described as "selfish and incompetent".

RomanceThose Who Eat More Eat, Have More Sex -- New Study Reveals by Upritman(op): 7:40pm On Jan 04, 2018
A new survey in Britain has revealed that people who eat meat are having more sex than vegetarians.
This is coming as many people are abandoning eating meat either due to its health benefits, ethical grounds for animal welfare or environmental sustainability.

The research, in which 2,000 Britons were interviewed, found that 42 per cent of meat eaters (once a day or more) have sex once a week or more.

Vegetarians and 'reluctant carnivores' (meat once a fortnight) registered a much lower percentage in those surveyed - 16 per cent.
The highest percentage of meat eaters who had sex once a week or more was found in Wales (49 per cent), followed by England (46 per cent) and then Scotland (40 per cent).

The survey was carried out by GourmetMeatClub.co.uk, an online provider of grass-fed, free-range meat. Which should definitely be noted when you consider the survey results.

If you're a man with a high meat diet you may want to ease up, however.

Studies have found that patients with heart disease, linked to a high saturated fat and high meat diet, often have erectile dysfunction.
Dietician Caryn Davies told Men's Health:
“Examining the physiology of arterial disease and its inhibitory effect on blood flow, it makes perfect sense that an erection, which relies on a sufficient inflow of blood, would be compromised in the presence of CVD (cardiovascular disease) risk factors.
The quickest way to adopt a cardiovascular diet is to cut down on cholesterol and saturated fat by including more sources of plant protein and cutting down on meat.
And when it comes to sex, we all know it's about quality over quantity.”

CrimeUnknown Gunmen Kill Over 28 Persons In Egbeda, Rivers State by Upritman(op): 4:35pm On Jan 04, 2018
Unconfirmed reports reaching Suanu's Blog indicate that over 28 persons have been killed by unknown gunmen who invaded Egbeda Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

This latest attack is coming barely three days after over 17 persons were killed by assailants while they were returning from cross over church service on January 1, 2018. This sad event led to a visit by Gov.Nyesom Wike and his security council during which he pledged a N200m bounty on information which will lead to the arrest of those behind the dastard act.

Suanu's Blog gathered that victims of the latest attack included about 15 women who were returning from farm, children and youths who were watching football in the area.

Some residents of the area are attributing the recurrent attacks in the area to members of the dreaded cult gang, Iceland who are loyal to embattled militant leader, Don Wanny. Mr.Don Wanny is on the watch list of security agents after a raid on his mansion and shrine led to the discovery of over ten human skulls, guns and other incriminating items.

PoliticsWe Are Ashamed Of This Current Fuel Scarcity -- VP Osinbajo by Upritman(op): 10:53am On Dec 25, 2017
@SuanusBlog

Vice President, Prof.Yemi Osinbajo has condemned the recent fuel scarcity all over the country this yuletide describing it as a “shame”. Osinbajo stated this in a statement released by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande during an unexpected stopover at Oando Filling Station at Lekki area and Hayden Petrol Station of Lagos State on Christmas Eve.

According to Prof.Osinbajo: “ It’s such a shame that Christmas has been, to some extent, with this sort of discomfort. This is deeply regretted, and l know that, despite the resilience and strength of people in Lagos and the Nigerian people, we would see ourselves through this and will enjoy our Christmas and have a great new year.”
He said the Muhammadu Buhari administration is doing everything possible to quickly resolve the fuel shortages experienced by Nigerians.

While chatting with Nigerians on long fuel queues during the stopover, the Vice President said the Federal Government was moving as quickly as it could to solve the fuel crisis and reduce the difficulties Nigerians were facing as a result,” the statement said.

He reportedly said, “We are trying to move as quickly as we can. Obviously, people have gone through a lot of pain and anguish in the past few days, and that is deeply regretted. We were trying to do what we can to move as quickly as possible and there is certainly enough products to be able to solve the problem.
“We will be able to solve the problem; the short period of scarcity is quite a bit of burden, but we know that so long as products are enough and the trucks coming out and feeding the stations, this will be over very soon.
“I am going around with the honourable minister of state for petroleum resources here in Lagos to ensure that first, the trucks are being loaded from all the depots, and also looking at the filling stations to see that things are moving on very well.
“The GMD of the NNPC is also working in Abuja to see that that things are moving quickly and we are moving around the country. So we expect that it will be resolved very quickly.”

PoliticsSix Recent Steps Taken By The Police To Reform SARS by Upritman(op): 2:10pm On Dec 23, 2017
Following the recent outcry by Nigerians against men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), the police authorities have taken some recent steps to ensure that the special unit is reformed. This is coming despite calls from some Nigerians for its complete scrap.

Such restructuring steps include;

1. The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) would undergo mental test to ascertain their level of preparedness on the field which would reduce cases of extrajudicial killings.

2. They are banned from delving into civil matters, land matters, personal disputes, disputes, and debt collection.

3. The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Operations, would now lead SARS as the Strategic Commander.

4. The personnel would now operate in official uniforms which would be clearly marked for easy identification.

5. They are prohibited from conducting stop and search on roads unless when necessary and they can only embark on operations only on the permission of the CP in charge of SARS, Deputy Commissioners and ACPs, Operations, in the commands they are answerable to.

6. SARS operatives are prohibited from acting as bodyguards.

The IG revealed these yesterday in Abuja during a lecture with the field commanders of SARS from various parts of the country.

CrimeHusband Of Woman Who Flogged Teacher To Death In Anambra Blames The Devil by Upritman(op): 6:31pm On Dec 19, 2017
Husband of the man whose wife allegedly flogged a teacher, Rita Makachi to death at the Starlight Secondary School, Ogidi, Anambra State has blamed the devil using their daughter to push his wife into the murder case.

He stated this while pleading with the deceased’s family to forgive her wife.

Suanu's Blog recalls that the suspect simply identified as Chinaza’s mum, had allegedly flogged the school teacher with a stick which led to her death after the daughter came home with the report of how she was flogged by her teacher for not sweeping the classroom.

Speaking to newsmen in his Ogidi residence, the man claimed since the incident, his wife has shown remorse and that their daughter had also been reprimanded for pushing her mom into committing the barbaric act.

According to Him:

“I condemn completely the action of my wife, which she is presently regretting. I plead with the deceased family to forgive her.

“The devil set a trap and she fell in through her daughter. If I were to be at home that fateful day when my daughter came reporting, I would have sent her back.

“A child should be reprimanded for her wrong doings. The teachers are there to train them for the good of the society. If today’s children are left unchecked, they would constitute a burden to the society tomorrow”

The man who claimed he could not afford the cost of autopsy on the deceased teacher, thanked the police for releasing his daughter due to her age, which makes her a minor.

He was also of the strong view that the sad incident will sharpen the mentality of his daughter and give her a better appreciation of life as she grows older.

Science/TechnologyDead Bodies To Be Turned Into Liquid And Flush Down The Drain With New Tech by Upritman(op): 9:08am On Dec 18, 2017
A new method of cremation is on the way in Sandwell Council in the United Kingdom. The method is regarded as water cremation”. This method involves placing dead bodies into metal chambers where they would be liquefied at a high temperature before being disposed of.

Water cremation is carried out by the firm Resomation.

Sunday Times reports that those who back the method claim it is more environmentally friendly than traditional cremation.

According to the Founder of the company Sandy Sullivan, 61 : “There is no technical reason why the liquid can’t go down the drain. It is a very treatable organic liquid. It is sterile and there is no DNA in it. “We are copying nature.

The body dissolves by soil bacteria and it is a very long process. All we are doing is taking the exact same chemistry and applying heat, which speeds it up.

“This is a third option, other than cremation and burial.

“Resoma in Latin means ‘rebirth of the human body’. When I die, this is the way that I want to go.”

Sandwell Council said: “The funeral industry is evolving and modernising and we want to offer people more choice. Water cremation is the next phase in this evolution and would give people a more environmentally friendly option.”

Can this method be used in Africa where the dead is adored and ceremoniously buried wasting more economic resources like land, money and time?

CelebritiesDele Momodu Finally Reconciles With Davido (photos) by Upritman(op): 8:18am On Dec 18, 2017
@SuanusBlog

There is an indication that the long loss of love between Nigerian Music Star, David Adeleke a.k.a Davido and Mr. Dele Momodu has finally ended.
Suanu's Blog recalls that the musician has been at loggerheads with the top Journalist and Publisher of Ovation Magazine over one of his babymamas, Sophie Momodu who is a cousin to Uncle Dele Momodu. The brouhaha started following a decision by Davido to take his baby, little Imade to Dubai for medical attention after He (Davido) had accused the mother of the baby of infecting their baby with cannabis, an allegation that angered Momodu who came in defence of his cousin.

However, pictures and a tweet by Dele Momodu seems to give impetus to the reality that the quarreling days are over. On his official twitter handle, Dele Momodu wrote: "True reconciliation, great joy.... God bless DAVIDO. God Bless Dr.Adedeji Adeleke for his uncommon maturity. God bless the Momodu family for the simply heart. We are a family".

CrimeMan Who Beheaded His Wife And Stored Her Head In Freezer Jailed For 52 Years by Upritman(op): 7:39am On Dec 18, 2017
@SuanusBlog

A Texas man identified as David Dauzat has been sentenced to 52 years in prison after he admitted to beheading his wife in front of her children.

The 24 years old man pleaded guilty to the 2016 death of his wife, Natasha Dauzat, 21, who was found with dozens of stab wounds. Dauzat agreed to the plea deal after Natasha’s family requested it to prevent the children from reliving the horrifying incident if the case went to trial, KWTX reported.

“They didn’t want to put the children through a trial and have them relive those memories,” McLennan County Assistant District Attorney Michael Jarrett said.

Police went to the couple’s mobile home in Bellmead, a town just northwest of Waco, in August 2016 after a concerned relative requested a welfare check. Police officers spoke to David and Natasha Dauzat outside their trailer, who appeared “calm and expressed their curiosity why the police were there.”

But two hours later, the relative called police again, saying he received a call from David Dauzat who told him he “killed his girlfriend,” according to KWTX.

Police found Dauzat with blood on his clothing at the trailer. Dauzat had beheaded his wife while the two children, ages 1 and 2, were in the trailer. He then placed her head in the freezer.

The children were not injured in the incident

Police said the woman died from “sharp-force injuries, including decapitation.”

Dauzat must serve at least 26 years of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
