Hi Fam, Please, how do I request a letter of authorization for my child's visa application? I'm in Canada but he is in Nigeria and I'd like him to join me. He's 4. Any idea? Please, help. |
I see! That must be a super visa. Good news!! |
@galala123 there isn't any better word to describe it than motion without movement. As a student in Canada, I applied in June 2020 for my family to visit me. Since then, there has been no single update till date. Post graduation and on work permit, I have updated the application, yet no update. Meanwhile I haven't also got an update on my PR application since I submitted in June 2021 via EE/PNP. Is silence their new mode of communication? |
I graduated in Dec...got a PNP immediately I finished my 1 year program in Canada with a 3yr work permit..also got ITA ...all in January. A lot happened in between. Had to wait for certificate to arrive in June before applying for PR. I hope things go well. Applied for visitors visa since 3 months now...no show...and I need to visit Naija any which way. Obviously, visitor's visa from Naija has been paused but from here, it's wierd that the processing time keeps increasing. |
@Oineghedion Relax, you'll definitely get your passport back. I had same issues too. My passport took slightly over 4 weeks to be returned. oinegbedion: |
@efficiency123 I just got my passport back two days ago, 19th Dec. Applied on the 18th of September. My initial statement of account was for the current year.(2019) I couldn't have submitted a stale statement. efficiency123: |
@Efficiency123 At the time of application, I submitted just a 4-months statement of account(June-Sept) and a reference letter from the bank. However, after my application was approved and passport requested, they specifically requested for a Statement covering Sept 2018 to Sept 2019, and that equals 1yr SOA. Note that my available balance in December appeared somewhere on the first page of the 1 yr statement. So at a glance, one could see my total credits n debits for a period of those 12 months as well as my available balance as at the time of printing the SOA. efficiency123: |
Hey, brother! Thank you so much. I hope you arrived Canada, safely. dheehour: |
Thank you! I wish you success too. Cjleks: |
It's sis, bro. University of British Columbia. Thanks a lot! eddyme: |
U P D A T E ! My application was approved and passport requested on the 7th of November. I mailed it to them and an acknowledgement was received on the 14th. Since then, my passport has been under process at IRCC and program start date is just 3 weeks away. I mailed the Nairobi office to express my concerns and sent a CSO to Lagos office but there was no response. A week later, I sent another mail and they responded on Tuesday, 10th Dec. Can someone guess the response? I was asked to provide through email, the statement of the account that i submitted, from Sept 2018 to Sept 2019. In order words, after approval and passport request, IRCC Lagos office requested for a one-year statement of the account that I submitted in my application. They asked me to submit before 12th, Dec.and instructed that the statement shows my name, number, available balance, debits and credits. I went to the bank same day, printed and forwarded to them as instructed. An auto acknowledgement was received and yesterday, a final decision was dispatched in my favour. It has ended in praises! Special thanks to @frankrobbn1 for calming my nerves during this long wait. To a brother found on this thread @bimmy35, you've been a source of encouragement. See you in two weeks! To all hopefuls herein, do your best and hang in there. TRV must follow you. It's not yet over until it's over. Don't just read this post. Digest it and reason the VOs intentions for the delay. Self sponsorship with multiple evidence of a meagre salary and unmatching closing balance was almost a red flag. I had explained the steady source of other funds which they likely doubted. With God, I was a step ahead and my one year statement vindicated me. No lump sum over the past one year and available balance increased substantially from what it was when I submitted my application. |
Well, I applied for a study permit with an active Express Entry profile and it was approved. chigrad: |
Application online November 5th Biometrics November 6th Medical report section a client identification and summer November 22nd Medical done on the 26th and passed on 29th Original Passport request December 3rd Corresponding letter for biometrics December 4th To God be the Glory NB. I checked online and it says " Your application was approved"
Congratulations! |
I see no problem here and for this reason you shouldn't panic. The issue of late passport transmission happens on several occasions of which I'm an eye witness. I would advise you proactively raise a CSE to the Kenya, Nairobi Immigration office. Thank you @frankrobbn1 for the response. Of course, it calms my nerves. I had sent them a mail yesterday. Awaiting their response. Will keep the house updated. |
It's been 3 weeks I submitted my passport as requested by IRCC. Submitted through vfs Abuja and have gotten just 2 updates so far with the last mail (19th Nov) stating that tracking number xxxxxxxxx is under process at IRCC office. Program starts exactly 4 weeks today. Flight tickets are busy skyrocketing without apologies and IRCC doesn't give a hoot. This 2 months hold had better not been for me....Ain't gonna be funny. Early application would save you the tension that I'm having right now. It's not healthy for anyone, trust me. I know the Visa will eventually come but the question is "when" as time is of the essence in my case. As I dey complain say Vancouver rent high, flight own dey one corner dey look me. A word of prayer for me, fam. One luv! |
Can we all click the "waka pass" button and make more positive moves towards securing our study visa? |
So one of my students for a Bachelor's degree program got his application approved yesterday. This is what I noticed about the Canadian study permit: 4. Still in relation to the bank statements, I think it's necessary to attach how the money was accumulated (either via salary pay slips, offer of employment, confirmation and letter of introduction from employers). For business people, CAC documents and tax clearance would suffice. Well, I think there's absolutely no hard and fast rule to this Visa application thing. Although my admission was from one of the best schools in Canada, with a huge tuition( 55k,1 year) there was a major gap in my application. I self sponsored with evidence of meagre salary from employment. It couldn't be hidden...It was boldly stated in my appointment letter n reflected in my SOA. Yet, my application was approved. I practice what I studied in school n my PG program is 100% related. Nevertheless, the total money I had was my tuition fee but couldn't show how it was accumulated cos obviously I'd work almost the rest of my life to save that much going by just my employment. I was scared that mentioning that I had a side business would be a red flag cos I didn't know how much knowledge the VO had regarding civil service rules(trading conflicts civil service rules), so I left the details out. The only upside being that the account was overly active with both inflow and outflow. I think SOP is where the major issues lie...ability to explain virtually everything without indicting self is a skill that requires experience and critical thinking. I believe the best application is the one done by oneself not an agent. Big school or not, the ability to defend your intentions and convince the VO makes a whole lot of difference. My advice to new applicants is to take time and read this thread from the start. You will be surprised at how much knowledge you'll acquire. I bet you'll be more knowledgable than any agent and would never have any cause to give them a dime. And if you think that the thread is too long for you to read, then you'll have to ask yourself if you're actually ready for studies in Canada. One luv! |
Ubah007:Yes, they did. VFS has actually sent me two emails. The first being that application has been received by Lagos VAC and the second stating that my application is under process by IRCC. Hopefully, there will be a positive feedback next week. Meanwhile I mailed my passport to Abuja VFS on Tuesday last week. Passport was received on Thursday... |
Ubah007:I'm having same issues. |
What does the process of passport submission via courier look like. I mailed mine through DHL to Abuja office and got a delivery note from them. However, I did not get a confirmation receipt from Vfs. Please, Is this in order? Greetings, fam! |
Fam, I live in the Eastern part of Nigeria and did my biometrics in Abuja. What's the procedure for passport submission? Am I expected to pay any fees upon submission? Thanks in anticipation of a timely response. |
Bimmy35:Thank you! Honestly, I don't know yet but likely to be in the last week of Dec. School resumes on the 1st of January, according to the acceptance letter that I have. For the contact, it would be my pleasure. Cheers! |
librangyps:Ok, thank you! I'll do that. I had a total of 15m. 10FD and 5 Savings. |
UPDATE APPROVAL ALERT: 7th November. UBC admission: 28th August Online Application: 18th Sept Biometrics Request: 20th Sept Biometrics Done: 26th Sept. Medical Request:16th Oct. Medicals Done : 24th Oct.(IOM Lag) Medicals Passed: 30th Oct. BVL: 7th Nov. Passport Request: 7th Nov. First time applicant. My passport was to expire 3 months into the winter term and of course, my Visa's validity if granted wouldn't be longer than March, so I had to wait for it to drop into the 6th month, then I applied for passport renewal and my previous passport was cancelled without prejudice although my Visa pages, entry and exits weren't stamped/cancelled ( just the old biodata and blank pages) My new passport also contains the number of the old one though. I also got my police clearance certificate in September. Took me not less than a week to write a one and a half pages of SOP. I kept editing and restructuring, adding and subtracting. My strategy was to weigh the pros n cons of each point I try to make. Any information that I weigh n perceive could be misinterpreted, I threw more light. For instance, my kids are part of my ties. The least is 2 years old. I felt the VO would wonder why a sane mother would want to leave her young child. At the same time, i felt the VO would also wonder how i would travel with a toddler given the intensity of my professional masters degree. I had to choose one side of the argument and gave solid reasons which sent a pointer to my determination to study and graduate with good grades while outlining adequate steps I've put in place for the welfare of the kids I'm leaving behind. I also mentioned what I intend to do upon return and showed evidence of some tangible things I'd leave behind as a major fallback when I return. Each day I read my SOP, it made deeper meaning. I understood it differently and kept manipulating it until I was convinced that I had done noble. Worthy to mention is that I showed a career progression from my previous study and current work experience, to the intended program. Meanwhile, I attached an LOE to explain my previous US tourist Visa rejection, reason for not writing IELTS + correspondence from school confirming that IELTS would be waived if my undergraduate school sends them a proof that I was taught in English, other source of income, family composition(group photograph of the kids with my teenage ward). DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED (For ease of reference): Travel history(US) Self-sponsorship Employed with a meagre salary Printed n submitted the tuition n cost of living page as seen on the school's website. Statement of account(4 months) Fixed deposit(rolled over monthly) Reference letter from bank Transcripts Proof of English Proficiency from undergrad school Letter from employer(recent) TCC Pay stubs (3months) Survey plans of properties in my name Birth certificates of kids Hubby n dad's biodata page. Picture of just the kids together with a minor ward. Confirmation letter from UBC on deposit payment Conditional letter of acceptance SOP LOE Tuition Fee is to be paid in 3 instalments I think less is actually more. SOP was straight to the point so as not to bore the VO or divulge unnecessary information that could be used against me. For each information I gave, I asked myself if it was necessary and directly related to my application. Then I moved to weighing the implication of every possible answer. I actually set up a law court in my head. For me, preparing and sending in my application was like preparing for a life changing exam. I almost gave up cos it was too much for just an application, but for the deposit I already made...I needed at least a rejection to get it back. Also, remembering the high blood pressure UBC gave me before admission was granted; the series of interviews on Skype, the long essay I was asked to write and submit...Honestly, it's a privilege to have scaled through all these. Believe me when I say that those interviews aren't healthy at all. Note that I was asked to consent to being recorded during the interview. When I thought I had seen it all, weeks later I was scheduled for yet another interview, then, the essay. Now that my Visa application has been approved and passport requested, my emotion is beginning to fail me. Can I really do this? Am I willing to leave my kids behind? Can I cope with the exorbitant rent in Vancouver? How long can I hang in without my family? From my timetable, I will be having just a 2-week break in April. I really need help, fam. Na play play I take apply give UBC cos application na free for Nigerians. Sent them only photocopies of my credentials and had nothing to lose until admission was granted after which I paid a compulsory deposit to secure my place in the program. PS: I have an active EE profile and didn't delete for the purpose of this application. If I perish, I perish! Lol Meanwhile much respect to frankrobbin, justmellow and all those who take time to respond to questions on this platform. E no easy, I swear. See as hand dey pain me! I'm sorry if you've read this before. I just copied, pasted and edited. I can't kill myself. Lol Much luv, fam |
A P P R O V A L A L E R T !!! 7th November.... |
Alkidam:Since you submitted an application on the 27th of September through the paper route, you must have done your biometrics upon submission. That known, I assume what you received on the 23rd of October was the biometrics validation letter. Did you do upfront medicals? This will, to an extent, determine the meaning of the BV letter you recieved on the 23rd of Oct. Do you mean your cousin's friend got a medical request after a biometrics request? If yes, that's in order. If you meant he got a medical request after a BVL, well with God, impossibility is nothing. Gurus on this platform will explain better. Getting approval for a study permit to Canada without medicals? I leave this to the experts here too! |
Ubah007:You'll definitely hear from them soon. My medicals was requested on the 16th of October, done 24th and passed 30th Oct. I am patiently waiting for a final decision. My application is 6 weeks old, though. |
So, in order words you have an OND, BSc (2 degrees)and intend to go for PGC in Canada, right? gr8full2God: |

Was granted admission by the University of British Columbia on the 28th of August against Winter 2020. I submitted an online application 4 weeks ago, 18th September precisely. This morning, I got a notification that I have a message. Lo and behold, it was a medical request letter. Could this be a positive sign? |
