akthedream: You forgot so points..On asset declaration, statutorily, assets are declared to the CCB but declaring it to the public is discretionary. 2.Given the large coverage and viewership that the media chat received, you'd be foolish not to expect jammed lines. 3. I'm at a loss as to what you mean by "PDP patrons". 4. Azazi was sacked because there was need for a change in security strategy and personnel. And you'd agree that change is good |
engineerd: I think u are possessed !!! LOL...ok...i apologize for all my prior insults, but i think you should learn to show some diplomacy sometimes when putting your point across!! Strictly speaking, u were right....and all of a sudden GEJ's foot soldiers are no where to be found! He used the words publicly declare assets. The constitution demands that he declare his assets to the code of conduct bureau and he did that. However he did not declare it to the public. Now if the members of the public want to know, they can demand it from the Code of Conduct Bureau in line with the provisions of the Freedom of information Act which was also signed into law promptly by this administration after its passage by the National Assembly. Jonathan did not have to declare his assets to the media as this would amount to playing to the gallery |
OAM4J: I can not point to anything inspiring in the whole chat.Nothing will inspire you because you lack the capacity to be inspired |
Kobojunkie: I believe the very first thing we need to stop doing, as Nigerians, is LYING on BEHALF of politicians. Are you suggesting that a trip to a photo-op that many in the environmental community now deem a failure, was part of president's duties but staying back to fight the scourge blowing Nigerians to smithereens is not? |
Kobojunkie: Actually he did make light of the security situation, especially when he suggested that his trip to brazil was to show BokoHaram that he was still in Charge. Essentially he left the country, IGNORING the plight of the Nigerian people -- people continued to be blown to smithereens while he was away -- so he could prove some moot point to Boko Haram, a group that probably does not watch him on TV given that most of their attacks are not around what happens in ABUJA but whenever they seem to want to.Firstly, the Brazil trip was also part of his duties as President and he had to attend and prevent the entire business of government grind to a halt on account of the activities of miscreants. Also, in his absence,a prominent Boko Haram leader was killed and another arrested; a clear indication that the relevant institutions concerned with security continued to discharge their duties in spite of his absence. If the President were in the Country, he'll not still have have been involved in the combat operations. Boko Haram's activities are hate crimes and they're difficult to handle. |
brabus: To all GEJ paid agents,You want action, you got it; power sector- NIPP, Bulk trader agreement for gas supply, Mambila and Zungeru power plants, distribution deals with General Electric, Siemens, and investments by 131?countries from around the world, Port reforms have made the process of clearing goods has become a much easier venture, In education 9 new Universities have been established to meet the increasing demand for tertiary education. In security, govt has increased funding to security agencies, given greater support and renewed impetus to the efforts to meet the Nation's security challenges. |
soe: u need to visit d psychatrist....no sane person...after d over one thousand lives we hav lost in just one year of d retardeen's tenure, wud b easily bought by sweet words...if only u live in yobe or borno or kaduna..where u aint even sure of seeing tomoro..yet ur president tells u dat he wont allow dat grind his govt....he still sleeps well, gets paid so well..and travels...of what relevance is ur welfare to him? Yet u seat der n say we shud giv him mur tym...u r so ineptThe President never made light of the security situation. He also said that he does not want the death of any Nigerian. Government business is broad and diverse and security, though a priority is not the only business of government. Progress is being made in power, infrastructure, education, agriculture, and many other facets of our National life. The security issue remains a sore point and the recent shakeup in the security apparatus of the Country is a sincere indication that govt isnnotnresting on her oars. Remember that acts of terrorism are hate crimes and there's no end to man's capacity for hatred. Let's give Jonathan a chance. There's still three years left to assess this administration. |
bayooooooo: Perhaps! But GEJ is not just it. He displayed a petty comprehension of issues at stake. His responses were mired in myopic thinking and his position on rule of law was an insult on the sensibilities of Nigerians. His responses were far below average and somewhat unbecoming of a PhD holder. He's natural, sincere, humble and straightforward. We can't fault that. he was quite lucid on power and the bulk purchase trader agreement which he articulated were also simple enough to educate the dumbest of people. On the rule of law, he also admitted that it was normal for heads of government to meet and address members of parliament and that he was yet to see the resolution of the house. And he would act accordingly when he received the resolution. Maybe you'd expect him to use the AIT report or Nation Newspaper headlines as resolution. |
GAR3TH: To be truthful i found it troubling that he "told a story" to answer every question, even the simple yes or no ones. I was expecting short, brief and to the point answers in response to challenging questions. It didn't feel like a presidential Q&A but rather a "presidential social chat room". Why cant Nigeria media grill the president the same way foreign media grills Obama, David Cameron etc. they basically asked him a question and let GEJ answer it without any rebuttals, follow up questions or opposition views. All the NTA people did is nod their head and move on to the next question. The who point of this "media chat" was to Task the president and hold him accountable on what he has done since office. as far as i'm concerned these NTA guys failed.Another blatant display of ignorance. Did you not observe that the panelists were drawn from various media houses? Is the Maupe Ogun of the popular "sunrise daily" fame on Channels tv also an NTA staff? I'm embarrassed. |
kokoA: I just took a little break from the euro 2012 match to see our GEJ and the first thing i heard was 'b'reA.st'. Pls, whose boobii was he referring to? Na dey channels' babe own? .. That babe disapointed me badly, so all her noise na for channels sunrise daily e end fa.. She enter ass-hole rock go dey laugh with GEJ.. SmhUnfortunately for you, she's cultured, educated, professional and reasonable enough to know she has to do her job politely. Thumbs up to her |
ayox2003: Na "acted" caller....Which Nigerian go yarn like that!!!Why you no act your own? |
Enoquin: And then there are a tiny few who are quite objective...criticizing issues objectively. It's appalling and chilling the level we have degenerated to in name calling and that which we all seem to close our eyes to...leave his accent and criticize what he has said not from hear-say or 'giving a dog a bad name and hanging it' but from what he has said tonight and what we know from 'verified' sources...we are all enlightened, not so?And frankly, this site is for matured and cultured discussions not for foul smelling rants and invectives |
buzor: oga jona, answer the 2015 question and stop behaving like a cowardLike he rightly pointed out, it is too early to begin to speculate on his candidacy or the absence of it and I agree with him. This is not cowardice but wisdom |
monkeyleg: very weak uncoordinated responses. The chap really doesnt sound presidentialif you are an adult as I suspect you ought to be then you must have seen a number of leaders talk. What does it mean to sound presidential? |
ayo jango: .Painfully, you're dumb and cannot understand the intricacies of statecraft. I advice you watch England play Italy and log in afterwards to exhibit more folly |
Demdem: I doubt if the retardeen will tell me anything new. I prefer to watch England play at this same time jor.The problem is that even when he says something new, you may be too daft to understand it |
1supremo: Bad timing. Tomorrow is Sunday. The questions will hover around the scenario of tomorrow's church attack. To the would be victims of tomorrow's Boko Haram carnage, I say RIP in advance. Do I sound morbid? By the way, I'm not a prophet of doom, I'm only extrapolating. It's called common sense. You're not extrapolating but exhibiting your blatant folly. It is our hope that no soul will have to be lost to prove your idiotic prophecy right. Some people just suckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk ![]() |
ndu_chucks: Hopefully, Dasuki can help negotiate terms for the disarmament of BH. Negotiations need to begin immediately with the condition that BH declares an immediate cease fire.Negotiotion with BH is a no-no. Nowhere in the world is negotiation with terrorists acceptable or advisable and this government will not do that. |
CuteTj: And so? Will that stop the bombings- NO, Will that stop corruption- NO, Will that make petrol price reduce which will in turn reduce cost of goods & services- NO. They probably will be redeployed to other ministries or get compensated with some other political appointment as is the norm. So for that reason, IM NOT CONCERNED!You can't keep doing the same thing and expect a different result. Having failed to tackle insecurity, they should leave |
Olaolufred: THANK YOU FEMMY2010.Behold the puerile arguments! Nigeria remains a fertile ground brimming with opportunities and if a small group of thoughtless murderers want to by their senseless acts of violence, bring this Country to a halt, it behoves on all well meaning Nigerians to support the administration in areas of commendable progress, while not ignoring the acts of violence which in any case, falls under the direct purview of the Armed Forces who despite the enormous challenges are doing their best. Government cannot, should not and must not grind to a halt because of a senseless minority. |
Akshow: tell them o. Tell the idiotic praise singersWhat the even more idiotic, senseless and myopic critics fail to realise is that business men will go anywhere there is investment opportunity; from Iraq to Afghanistan to Libya and other crises ridden areas and that despite the orgy of violence in isolated parts of the North, the majority of the Country is still safe, secure and ready for business and investors. |
Kobojunkie: Have a heart! Many of the affected, no matter how much you try to deny it are northerners but first and foremost, human beings with flesh and blood like you. They did not ask to be blown to be pieces. They did not sign on to having their lives snuffed out as if meaningless. They simply wake up each day seeking to live yet another day, only to have some hoodlums, decide it should be their last.Brazill is today among the BRICS countries(emerging economies) from her lowly position as a 3rd world Country only a few years ago. If Nigeria is to follow in this path, then closer ties must be built with Nations that have gone that way before us. I think this is in line with the transformation agenda of economic diplomacy and a further demonstration of this administration's resolve to soldier on with transformation instead of dignifying the antics of sore losers, haters and merchants of terror who have no consideration for the future of this country |
DaRapture: This is good news, Brazil is a MUCH, MUCH more realistic, trusting and worthy developmental patner for Nigeria and Sub Sahara Africa as a whole than China and India or any other Asian nation.Brazil is today among the BRICS countries(emerging economies) from her lowly position as a 3rd world Country only a few years ago. If Nigeria is to follow in this path, then closer ties must be built with Nations that have gone that way before us. I think this is in line with the transformation agenda of economic diplomacy and a further demonstration of this administration's resolve to soldier on with transformation instead of dignifying the antics of sore losers, haters and merchants of terror who have no consideration for the future of this country |
canuck: Na true sha - What did he do when he did NOT travel? Oh yeah, I remember now: He did NOTHING!Only one set of people don't appreciate and understand the efforts and progress made by this administration; The myopic |
Ileke-IdI:How does the President's trip to Brazil amount to a vacuum in government? Why does our Constitution provide for a VIce-President if the absence of the President amounts to a vacuum in government? |
eGuerrilla: https://www.channelstv.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Jo-in-Brazil-300x180.jpgWhile detractors and their backers, Nigerians must realise that there is a Vice-President who is as qualified as the President and can deputise for him in his absence. Our constitution has taken care of this. The mission of Boko Haram is to ensure that the President is seen to have failed. To fail to attend this conference will prove them right. Boko Haram and their ideological disciples must not be glorified. Nigeria will move forward. |
eGuerrilla: https://www.channelstv.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Jo-in-Brazil-300x180.jpg. Governance is broad and complicated. Both the trip to Brazil and the and the security situation fall within the purview of the government and since he will not be directly involved in the peacekeeping operations, but will be directly involved in the delibrations and submissions in Rio, business of government cannot be left to rot because a few misguided, politically sponsored, merchants of terror have vowed to unleash terror on the Nation. With advancements in information and communication technology, instructions on deployment of troops, military personnel and their coordination can indeed be given from anywhere. The minister is correct in his assertion and those who wish to politicise the trip do so with sour and malicious intentions. |
Demdem: My beloved NLers, i know my wahala too much but i just cant resist this. it has happened again oooo. its on record that the retardeen went to CHOGM with the largest delagation, he brought nothing from CHOGM for Nigeria but shame now this again. Yet he continues to ask Nigerians to sacrifice. na wa ooo |
swintiney: @captainajama, u should hav said what i said that isn't true either, how many times did obj boast of achieving 4MW? So shocked that wen GEJ/JEG came he still claimed of reaching 4MW, or ar we in 2nd 4MW? Or have we not noticed dat GEJ uses constant power supply 2 decieve us while lunching killing measures? I'v gone a step ahead of the facts u askd 4 to give u the truth. GEJ is showing signs of failure, if he does, then u & i would agree we ended up losing about 20yrs of our development to virtually OBJ & GEJ.if u needed a GEJ to tell u that the Country was in a bad state before he came, then u must either not be a Nigerian or u're a toddler. Barth Nnaji's interview is both incisive and revealing. It has also articulated the challenges, constraints and modest achievements with a clear demonstration of the willingness, knowledge and determination to make it work. If you are only capable of summarizing it as excuses, then ur cognitive faculties must be called to question |
subterfuge: With over 90% of Nigeria in Blackout, what bullshit reforms is on track. All you sycophants and praise singers, be warned. Power may be sweet as honey, but can also be bitter as vinegar!!! Remember Patrice lumumba, Samuel Doe? Moamar Ghadafi, Hosni mubarak? All th? I'm alarmed at ur propensity for half-truths and outright falsehood. If 90% of the nation, were in blackout, this discussion will not been taking place. |
hillsate: Who are these govt agents on nairaland?Firstly, you have chosen to ignore the well articulated views and those who have gone the extra mile to reproduce the entire interview. I think that the processes and strategies put forward by the minister are logical enough. We should at least give him a chance and wait for his proverbial demise before u grant him an internment. And I think that all citizens should understand before criticizing |
Ovaiegbe: Thanks for referring us to the minister's interview. It was not only frank but realistic. The reforms required in PHCN are time dependent and most of the inherited NEPA infrastructure were either obsolete or dilapidated. And again we had the problem of institutionalized corruption within PHCN.I am beginning to like this topic and @ oveigbe they will soon label you government agent( hahahahahah). I think I should join issues with people on this topic. |
