PoliticsRe: New Pics Of National Media Tour -day 2 by uzomagic(m): 2:14pm On Sep 22, 2012
ubandire: Has any previous administration In this country taken out time to sensitize the people on projects being executed, there's so much transparency in this GEJ led govt, that u tend to forget u are actually in Nigeria,a very clear departure from the past, when govt brandished achievements only on paper.

This is Change we can see, unless bias is ur second name, the transformation agenda is really on track.
Nigeria is on the right track. GEJ will be remembered for his good work
PoliticsRe: National Media Tour of Projects In FCT-DAY 1(pics) by uzomagic(m):
Splendid and I must confess I am genuinely impressed by the steps of transformation taken by the GEJ Administration. However, more needs to be done to win the support of and affection of Nigerians if he is to win a 2nd term in office.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Releases 155-page Book On His Achievements by uzomagic(m): 3:20pm On Sep 18, 2012
dedeike: I have resolved to abandon the ongoing EPL match to discharge an overwhelming social responsibility to deliver some people from ignorance. This is a sacrifice I have to make in the interest of nation building.

First, JP PHILIPS.
It is surprising how you wasted all that grammar in writing rubbish. We understand that your assignment of discrediting any visible achievement by this govt is enormous but you must strive at least to make a little sense.

First, it was shocking, to say the least, that you could not distinguish between Excess crude account with SWF. Coming from someone who glories in the style of a Nairaland critic, it was embarrassing . FYI, SWF is an enactment of law. Excess crude account is illegal. SWF is a fund with a board for its management. Excess crude is an illegal account where the three tiers share money from. SWF is created for development while Excess crude is created to be shared. SWF is a universally accepted concept while excess crude account is a local fraud.

Secondly, your ignorance was once again on display when you claimed in the second paragraph that the probes and bio metric exercises amounted to nothing.
It's unfortunate that you guys spend more time blackmailing on Nairaland while the rest of the world watch news.

The bio metric exericise exposed the monumental corruption in police pensions upon which the accused persons including a retired perm sec is facing trial in court . See the following link.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/03/n32-8-bn-police-pension-scam-perm-sec-5-others-remanded-in-prison/

Also, the AIG Committee probe exposed the oil thieves including sons of former and present PDP chairmen who are presently standing trial for subsidy fraud. The link is attached as follows:
http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/mobile/news/55392-alleged-n13b-fraud%3A-ali’s%2C-tukur’s-sons-face-trial.html
The historic and all time record trial of oil subsidy suspects is still in progress in court. It is not the duty of patience Jonathan to convict them. Get that into your dumb skull.

Thirdly, you once again chose to peddle pedestrian sentiments on petroleum pricing and subsidy after much tutorials on that subject. . In your low mind, it's still all about the reduction of price to 65 or the increase of it. Typical of the thinking of a spare parts trader in mushin. The withdrawal of subsidy is a gateway policy to deregulation. In a deregulated market, you don't have to speak English on Nairaland for pricing. The market forces of supply and demand dictates price. Private refineries operate only in deregulated markets. Importation will end. Prices will fall far lower than this your beloved 65 naira. There will be competition. There will be employment for millions. Above all, there will be sufficiency of products.

Fourthly, You laboured in vain to discredit the rise of our foreign reserves under Jonathan to a remarkable 41 billion dollars because of the Nexim loan.
But unknown to you, debts and loans play a critical role in economic development. That is why even the united states has a debt profile of over 16 trillion dollars. See the link.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_debt
Lagos state government under the watch of your paymasters ranks as the highest indebted state in Nigeria. See link http://www.punchng.com/news/lagos-kaduna-criver-ogun-oyo-top-foreign-debtors-list/

Fifthly, I was touched and pitied the depths of your ignorance over PIB. Your summary of the bill was a tendentious overkill.
A bill that has being hailed by all stakeholders in the industry as the first legislation to revolutionize the oil industry in Nigeria. FYI, that bill was formulated by the likes of Senator Udo Udoma and Olisa Agbakoba.
It increases to 25% the involvement of NigerDelta people in ownership and management of oil companies in the region.
It unbundles NNPC into 5 or 6 companies.
It abolishes PEF and the corruption that comes with it.
It formulates a right pricing regime for gas and sanctions flaring.
It provides the much needed legal framework for eventual deregulation of the downstream sector.

Finally, you sounded so petty when you tried to strip Jonathan of credit due to him for refurbishing 10 power plants under the NIPP in one year.
This is a project that was kick started by OBJ in 2005 and was abandoned due to allegations of massive corruption. They did not see the light of the day.
In one year, Jonathan has refurbished the 10 power plants abandoned and has started generating an all time record of 4,477 megawatts.
The power plants are now working. And you are not ashamed to come and fool yourself over them.
Bros, you are seriously on point.

@Jp PHILIPS, face the issues raised in dedeinke's Comment and stop beating about the bush.i have read all your comments and his. He floored you squarely.
Of particular importance to me is the fact the so called power stations started working under Jonathan. You have not disproved this fact. You also equated SWF with ECA and he taught you the difference. He gave us links in support of his argument, you provided none apart from insults. Be serious bro.

kingoflag: Dude, Maryland, DC, Cali..... Corrruption, Life Term-disguised-as-single-term tenure, Refusal To declare assets..... All the same shiyyyt!!!!

While I enjoy reading your posts most times, sometimes you make me marvel and leave me aghast.

Corruption is an issue in most reasonable countries? And Nigerian corruption is subtle compared to "other places"?! shocked shocked shocked By other Places I will assume you mean countries like France and United Kingdom or the United States and not Equatorial Guinea, Chad or Central African Republic.

Dude, like I said, if the spate at which Billions of Dollars go missing without anyone being punished was to occur in this country, not only would you currently be sitting in the dark or have you neighbor's Generators blaring in your ears and rattling your bones, I'm pretty sure your parents wouldn't have raised you here and they would have sought out better climes.

Nigeria is being killed with endemic and chronic corruption starting from the man in Charge. NOTHING WILL WORK IN SUCH AN ENVIRONMENT. Its simple, its called: MULTIPLIER EFFECT.You can have all the electricity you want, everything still comes to nil when people commit both major and minor crimes and are allowed to go scot free. Y'all can hope all you want, but I bet you, you will all eat your words really soon (except the paid sycophants and the tribal warriors of course).

Anyways, like I've been screaming for months, do not be fooled, GEJ knows what he is doing. He's carrying on where OBJ failed. You will eventually get a semblance of "stable electricity", that has never been in doubt. But when an incompetent, divisive and utterly corrupt man--- fully aware his short comings--- decides (3weeks after becoming President) that he'd rather be there for life, --- and people (too blind to see) egg him on just because of Electricity--- I can only shake my head and wonder at the mentality of the followers. Nowhere thrives with the kind of lawlessness and corruption that abounds in Nigeria: NOWHERE!
They said the same thing about the advent of GSM/Telecommunications... "Telephones will improve the economy. Give us phones and we don't care about corruption". Isn't the basket still being tried to be filled up with water? Keep running around in circles hoping to one day reach your destination; no matter how you fast you run, the starting and the finish line will always remain the same.

Well, time will tell. Lets keep watching the show.

SMH
Corruption is a global phenomenon and it will be foolhardy to think of it as being peculiar to Nigeria. Even in the so-called developed world, corruption played a major role in plunging the world into a financial crisis of global proportions. That said, I think that Nigerians have had a rough deal at the hands of successive administrations and it did not begin with GEJ. No leader is perfect but leadership is all about providing solutions to problems and any objective mind will agree that power is crucial and central to development, job creation, better healthcare delivery and educational research. If GEJ is able to bring about transformation in the power sector, a large chunk of the Nation's problems will be solved. Besides, this administration is clearly changing the way government works to reduce and fight corruption and the subsidy issue is a clear case in this regard.
PoliticsRe: If GEJ Improves Electricity, Will You Vote For Him In 2015? by uzomagic(m): 10:30am On Aug 09, 2012
Babaji111: I think the job of a president is not only to improve electricity...provision of job opportunities, security, good road network, education, agriculture..etc So, I think I cannot vote for him...not only him, any PDP candidate even my own blood brother if he is PDP. They are all the same...nothing to write home about. Let them take lessions from Fashola, Imo state Governor..em..em wetin be em name sef? grin Rochas Okorocha and others but few.
The power problem is central to every other sector of the economy and improving Power supply will boost industrialization and provide millions of jobs thru small and medium scale enterprises. If indeed GEJ succeeds in providing power supply for an average of 18-20 hours a day in over 75-80 % of the Federation, he'd have made history as Nigeria's best ever President. The good part is that itbis very much achieveable. As for your anti- PDP leaning, it would interest you to note that the best Governors in the land are still from the PDP fold. Akpabio and Amaechi are doing exceedingly well and remain a model for others. Power is crucial for development in all facets of life and if it can be realised, then don't blame anyone who decides to vote for GEJ 20 times over.

Kobojunkie: I have not said anything about Boko Haram myself except for criticizing the Government's handling of the situation. Am I also still a Boko Haram supporter then? lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

Judging by this, likely, since I have not seen fit to come out to castigate Boko Haram in anyway. Truth be told, I don't see any sense in that exercise really.
Kobojunkie, you are not a leading, "fire-spitting Pentecostal Preacher" with wide following all over the Country. The major casualties of the sect's activities are Christians and their places of worship. Surely, a vocal Preacher like Bakare will not turn a blind eye to the suffering inflicted on his fellow Christians unless of course he has some sympathy for their cause.
PoliticsRe: Please Anyone Has A Quote Of Pastor Tunde Bakare On Boko Haram? by uzomagic(m): 1:36pm On Aug 08, 2012
Demdem: Anyone who thinks Bakare's vocal condemnation of evil Boko will end this menace is just being sttupid. those who also believe that Bakare's comments will caution the group are simply just daft. so whats the point? We have a leader who has with him a list of the sects sponsors and has refused to do anything about it till date yet some peeps just like chasing shadows.

I for one can only condemn evil Boko through this medium and will be cautious doing such in public because Nigeria isnt just safe for anyone. we have current and past governors who were have at sometimes begged this evil sect. if they can do that then who is Bakare and what security does he have or the one provided by govt to secure him from attacks. The same reason why the president cant go freely so some places in this country because of security concerns suggests to me that he isnt in charge of the whole country and he himself is afraid of the sect. if the Retardeen can be afraid of the sect why cant bakare.

@Op, go to this site below, if that doesnt satisfy u then goodluck in ur further search.

http://www.channelstv.com/old/videos.php?show=0&vid_shows=nat_2612
No one is insinuating by any stretch of imagination that Bakare's condemnation of BH will bring it to an end but Christian and Muslim religious leaders all over the Country have variously spoken against the sect and their murderous activities and being one of the most outspoken "men of God" in the Country, it will be absurd for him not to be an outspoken critic of BH.

Figures were also bandied-about by Yar'adua, Obasanjo and those before them. I can almost guarantee you that 2015 will come and there will not be any remarkable change in electricity supply. You guys will still be asking for "more time" to "complete work" on this "never-ending project".

Dear Hater, we are witnessing remarkable improvement in power supply and testimonies are coming in from all over the Country. The issue is to sustain the reforms. Barth Nnaji and this administration are doing well with power and with the unbundling of the distribution process, things are set to improve.

This is not just about figures. We are witnessing actual improvement in power supply and we are sure it is not happening by chance. Somebody is behind it and credit must be given when due. The power reform programme is ongoing and I believe Barth Nnaji can see it thru.

Diezani Alison-Madueke is Reforming the Troubled Oil & Gas Sector.

In pursuance of reforms and more transperancy,  the minister has set up various committees headed by respected private sector individuals to make recommendations on the restructuring of the petroleum industry. These include Special Taskforce on the Passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) led by Senator Udoma Udo Udoma; a Special Task Force on Governance and Controls at NNPC, headed by Mr. Dotun Sulaiman; the Petroleum Revenue Special Taskforce, headed by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; and National Refineries Special Taskforce, headed by former Minister of Finance, Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu, with former Managing Director of Unipetrol, Mallam Yusuf Alli, as its alternate chairman.

The Udoma committe has submitted the comprehensive PIB which is set to revolutionaries the entire oil industry. The FG has also forwarded same to the National Assembly.

The Ribadu committee is still coming up with their report.

Under Diezani, the Nation is witnessing the first criminal trial of oil thieves for corruption. We have seen the high and mighty been docked for subsidy payments. Is this Nigeria?
Stay tuned.....

a) Transmission problems have yet to be tackled

b) Generation has fallen back down over the last couple of months

The truth is that the major problem in the power sector is not generation but distribution. Only last month, the Abia State govt provided a framework for distribution from the Afam plant. Today, Umuahia and environs enjoy atleast 18-22 hours of power supply everyday. This is verifiable. The truth remains that the FG's achievements in power over the last one year represents a quantum leap in Power generation and distribution. Unbundling of the distribution process is on course with the registration of 18 new firms to fastrack the distribution process via the bulk purchase trading agreement. A lot more can still be done and GEJ still has the better part of 3 yrs to consolidate on these gains. Let's keep faith with this administration. It is better for all of us that he succeeds. Anything else will set us back a great deal.

dedeike: You re the one that God will forgive for being a silly and self serving hypocrite. what do you mean by talking about security? Because your colleagues in Boko Haram are throwing bombs at us then Gej should not repair roads in the Niger Delta? You want the entire business of governance to come to a halt so that we can talk only about Boko Haram? You have shown how much of an idiotic President you will be, if we ever have the misfortune of electing you as President.

Come to think of it, is there insecurity in the Niger Delta? How many bombs did you hear have exploded in Niger Delta? Go to PORTHARCOURT today and witness the peace and normalcy. Calabar and Akwa Ibom are the safest heaven for tourists in Nigeria. Same for Bayelsa and Delta no more communal crises that we witnessed during the Obj days. In your lame thinking, security is only about fighting A group of people who have resolved to kill themselves.

All over the world, there are conventional crimes which govts contend with. Talk about armed robbery, murder, burglary, rape, etc. This Boko Haram issue is a peculiar challenge. And if you think otherwise, then you re a big fool. No country, I repeat , no country can ever lay claims to having successfully eradicated homegrown terrorism. There's little or nothing one can do to stop a citizen who wakes up and decides to kill his fellow citizens and himself in the process.

Till tomorrow, Isreali citizens fall victim to suicide attacks despite their sophistication in security matters. The last one even happened in Europe against Isreali tourists in Bulgaria.
Were Nigeria to be Bulgaria, and tourists were bombed, you all would have swarmed into Nairaland like bees calling for the President's resignation. But the last time I checked, Plevneliev is still the president of Bulgaria and has not resigned. If this argument were to have held some months back, some of you would have come to talk about a mythical US where homegrown terrorism cannot happen.

Penultimate week, we saw a youth, not even a trained suicide bomber, walk into a cinema and shot people to death in Colorado US. Imagine if this this had happened in Our own silverbird, there would be mass call for GEJ's sack. For many of us, GEJ should just wear army uniforms and patrol the length and breadth of Nigeria before we acknowledge that he is fighting Boko Haram. Stupid people!
these GEJ haters are so annoying.

This is El Rufai that has a rich record of blocking people on his twitter handle. I have seen a lot of people that El rufai has blocked on twitter.
This guy is just a hypocrite. He does worse things and comes back to criticise people who do far more less things than he does.
If it were El Rufai's page on Facebook, he would have deleted these people a long time ago.
Reno was even very diplomatic with the hater. He had politely reminded him that the Facebook page was devoted for his religious beliefs and it's obvious from his update.
If not for mischief, how can any sane mind see such an update and follow it up with political comments? There is a time and place for everything.
I know that El Rufai, the religious bigot, won't tolerate anybody coming to join issues with him on politics on a Facebook page he opened in pursuance of his Islamic belief.
I know that too well
Sometime in Febuary, I mentioned El rufai on twitter with this tweet "sir, how do you manage to be on twitter always it appears you're jobless" the next thing he did was to block me from following him. I was surprised that someone who prides himself as a democrat could be so intolerant to opposing tweets. Since that time, I have lost any respect and confidence I had for him. It shows how much of a dictator he could be if given the power to lead. That little encounter shows that if El Rufai were to be GEJ, he would have clamped down on dissenting opinions on social media. Many Nigerians fail to remember that democracy is not an end in itself but a means to an end; good governance, justice, peace and ultimately development which is a function of the aforementioned. Secondly, democracy, of all the modes of government known to mankind remains the best form of government. Whether we agree or not the truth remains that in the dark days of the military especially between 1983-1999, this Country went several years backwards. Since, the return to democracy in 1999, the PDP has continued to provide leadership for the Country. Given the preceding sixteen years of uninterrupted military despotism by the Buhari, IBB and Abacha regimes, democratic culture is still evolving and is fraught with challenges and limitations like every human institution. Whatever the reservations any person or group of persons may have with the leadership of the PDP at Federal level, the truth remains that it could have been worse. The performance of the opposition controlled states have been almost pathetic as can be examplified from the abysmal performances of the then AD controlled States particularly in the South-West between 1999-2003. The class of Akande(Osun), Adesina(Oyo), Adebayo(Ekiti), Osoba(Ogun) and Tinubu(Lagos) were largely disappointing and this perhaps explains why they were eased out of power in the 2003 general elections except of course with the exception of Tinubu. Since 1999 till date it is on record that the best performing State Governors have always been from the PDP; Donald Duke(Cross River), Chimaroke Nnamani(Enugu) Adamu Muazu(Bauchi) who all did exceptionally well were all of the PDP. On taking over the helm of affairs in 2003, Ayo Fayose re-defined governance in Ekiti after the State went comatose under his ad predecessor, Adebayo. Governor Danjuma Goje(Gombe) also engineered a turnaround of the fortunes of his State from the decay that characterised the State under the previous ANPP administration under Hashidu. With the achievements of Goje, Saraki, Muazu, Yar'Adua, Duke, and even among the present crop, Akpabio, Amaechi, Lamido have all stood out as distinguished performers. The truth remains that there is no evidence to show that the opposition parties would have been able to provide direction and stability in government at the Federal level. By a long shot, both at the state and Federal levels, PDP has remained the bedrock of the Country's democracy and will remain so for a long time to come.

In all fairness to Mr. President, during the electioneering period, Boko Haram and it's insurgency where not on the front burner of National discourse. The central issues bothered on unemployment, wealth creation, diversification of the economy, etc and accordingly, these were the issues among the candidates. The magnitude that the Boko Haram has assumed since GEJ's administration is both worrisome and alarming. Boko Haram is not just a problem for the President. It's a collective responsibility.

No doubt, the committee has made some brilliant recommendations and some others that I personally do not agree with. The truth however is that whatever recommendations are made will still be subjected to legislative scrutiny for them to become valid laws. It is an open secret that the office of the First Lady is alien to our Constitution but the idea took its roots from the dark days of military dictatorship and despotism. Sadly, civilian administrations have continued to sustain the flair, glamour and flamboyance of the President's spouse. The first lady "syndrome" appears to be stronger in Countries that practice presidential system of govt. We can however take a cue from the American system where the first lady attends to mainly social events without a coterie of expensively assembled and sustained aides, special advicers and hangers-on all sponsored at the expense of the state. We can do without that.
