Omicron007: Hello beautiful people. Let me make this short and precise as usual
I don't even know how to put this. But let me say that I have been getting emotionally attached to married women/single mothers and I am worried about it. I am in my early twenties.
Fast forward to my current case. There is this lady that works in the same department with me in a firm. She is married but her husband is outside town. He works and has been away for almost three months. The lady is very young though she has five kids. She has a banging physique despite birthing five kids.
She prepares my own food specially and brings it to the office. She calls me frequently after work and she covers or stands for me a lot. There are instances where I have missed briefings, but she held sway for me and made me escape query letters.
We are very close and she confides in me a lot. Whenever I tell her I am going to see my female friends on a weekend, she is not happy. Instead, she says that I am not getting close to her enough because she is married.
I have promised to take her out and she has been reminding me constantly. I have been faking different excuses for procastination purposes.
To be honest, if she was single, I could have done the needful by now. But I am constrained by several factors. I don't want to have issues with her and I want to be in her good books.
I need advice please. Once you sleep with her, you signed for 7 years of hardship. Do not ask me how. Experience will teach you to avoid married women next time. If you were ignorant, that would be a different case. |

Politics › Re: A Country Of Cheap University Education by Validated: 9:16am On Dec 05, 2021 |
Oyindamolah: NIGERIA: A COUNTRY OF CHEAP TERTIARY EDUCATION
I was surprised when my claim that Nigeria offers one of the cheapest tertiary education in the world was met with disdain. What worried me most was the fact that the disdain came from people who enjoyed and still enjoying the highly subsidized tertiary education.
Some people who agreed were quick to label the Education substandard just to ridicule the country. No matter what we feel about the country, the fact that we all enjoyed cheap tertiary education can not be controverted. The fact speaks for itself.
I gained admission to the then Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti in 1996/97 session. My tuition fee was N5,150. It was one of the most expensive in the country then. I paid N4,850, N4,350 and N3,850 in second, third and final year respectively.
I paid a total of N18,200 in 4 years for a University degree.
At that time, my counterparts in Obafemi Awolowo University were paying N500 as tuition. You heard me right, five hundred naira. This token gave them access to the university health care as well as the library. N90 (Ninety Naira) was their hostel fees for a session. My mates got a University degree from OAU Ife with less than N4,000 . It may interest you to know that medical students in the school paid the same ridiculous amount .
This is not a story of Lord Lugard Era. A Youth Corper allowee at that time was N3,750. Which means, a corper can sponsor someone in the University without blinking an eyelid .
By the time I started my youth service in 2002, a youth corper allowee has been increased to N7,500. This means that my 3 months corper allowee was by far higher than what I paid in 4 years as school fees in a state university.
We are quick to compare Nigeria with the US, Canada, UK and other "saner climes". Someone even said Nigeria does not have students loan. The loan system was instituted in these countries because an average citizen can not afford tertiary education. It may interest you to know that Obama was already the President before he finished paying his student loan. I don't think any bank will give you a loan to pay the ridiculous amount we pay as fees in Nigerian Universities. Till date the average tuition in public universities in Nigeria is N50,000.
Nigeria, arguably, has the highest number of University graduates per square kilometre in the world . Thanks to the highly subsidized education we all enjoyed.
In saner climes, no middle income earner can sponsor a child in the University without resorting to loans that will take the student years to clear. You need as high as $80,000 to study medicine and $60,000 to study law. This did not include hostel accommodation. You will pay as high as $14,000 per session for hostel accommodation. I am using Canada as a case study. Note that education is cheaper in Canada than US . A middle income earner in Nigeria will sponsor a child in a public university without any problem. Infact, a youth corper can afford to send his sibling to a university and afford the fees.
As per the quality, UK has poached 7,000 Nurses from Nigeria within the last 12 months. Saudi Arabia, Canada and UK are scrambling to poach all our Doctors that were trained cheaply by our Government. I don't think these countries will come to pack our "low quality" graduates to fill their " high quality" health institutions.
We believe it is low quality because we got it cheaply. Skilled workers trained by our universities are currently running the show in Canada, UK and US.
I was present in a forum where Mr Babalola, a leading immigration lawyer in Toronto, was delivering a paper. The first thing he did was to thank Nigeria for the cheap education given to him. Babalola studied law at the University of Ibadan. He knew he would have paid through his nose to get a Law degree in Canada.
I deliberately posted this tertiary education claim on our independence day because some people said there is nothing to celebrate in Nigeria. If an ungrateful person gets to Paradise, he will find nothing to celebrate there. It is simply a matter of perspective. You don't value what you have until you lose it.
No country is completely good or completely bad. It depends on what you want to see. I have met Canadians who did not see anything good in their country. Someone said good people will always see the good in people. In the same vein, I believe good citizens will always see the good in their country.
Adeola Daramola October 02, 2021 Oga, Canada DOES NOT recognise Nigeria trained doctors. For a Nigerian trained doctor to practise, s/he must go back to class. I do not know much about nurses. |

If direct primaries sails through, 7 governors, yes you heard me right,7 governors will leave APC. If direct primary does not sail, then APC will divide into ACN and CPC, with only Amechi still in nPDP faction. |

Politics › Re: John Onaiyekan: Nigeria May Split Before 2023 Elections by Validated: 1:02pm On Dec 04, 2021*. Modified: 1:19pm On Dec 04, 2021 |
backbencher: Nigeria is not going to split for the following reasons (my opinion)
1.The minority tribes don't want Nigeria to split. Sure, most minority tribes are not enjoying Nigeria, but splitting Nigeria leaves them exposed to the rapacious bigger tribes. No thanks.
2.The elite don't want Nigeria to split...especially those with business interests across the country
3.The political class don't want Nigeria to split. No chances to loot.
4.International community too doesn't want Nigeria to split...because 1) higher oil prices 2) refugees swarming their countries....
5.Even most secessionists on this site don't want Nigeria to split. They back secessionists because they want to scare the North out of power, not because they want to leave Nigeria.(Wait till election starts, and 90% of the Biafranists and OOduaists will be backing PDP. E get why.)
6.As one recent article on banditry reveals, the bandits themselves are not one unified group, fight among themselves, and create more problems for themselves than the country.
7.Did I mention that most secessionists don't want Nigeria to split, and that most of them are more interested in their side winning the power game, than secession? Secession to them is a last card to play when all hope is lost.
8. Splitting Nigeria now, is not as clear cut as it was in 1966-7. Old Biafra is split into two, and the South SOuth wants resource control, rather than splitting up
9.As much as Ibos and Yorubas scream loud and clear about 'WE CAN SURVIVE ON OUR OWN' the fact is, in the event of a split, and in the event of the South South refusing to join either side...the fact is, (and you can abuse me all day long, but facts is facts)...Iboland and Yoruba land cannot survive without oil money...and are just dependent on oil money as the Hausas, and the Middle Belt.
Or where do you think Ibo and Yoruba states get most of their revenue for budget from (apart from Lagos)? OIL MONEY.(Or why do you think no Southern governor stood up to contradict El Rufai when he made the comment about subsidy needing to go or governors won't have money for their budgets next year? If Southern states were standing on their own financially, they would have said that he is on his own. Their silence shows they agree with him).
10. Most of Nigeria does not rely on export of industrial products to survive. Thus in the event of a split, all the new countries, apart from the South South, would end up relying on agriculture...and even if the SOuth south goes with Biafra...oil. All these commodites have one thing in common...the price of all of them is set elsewhere.
And that means, that at the end of the day, Oodua and Biafra are going to be as debt ridden as many African countries. You think I am lying? Most African countries that 'rely on agriculture' are in debt, some even higher than Nigeria's own.
And even if Biafra gets 'the oil' with the SOuth south...the same thing applies. At the end...Biafra would be debt ridden.
We haven't talked about the North. Sure the North has 'mineral and agricultural resources...but at the end of the day, who is setting the international prices for all these resources? They don't live in Kaduna, and Sokoto, that's what I know.
11. Let's even talk about agriculture. Less than 10% of our agric is mechanized. If we want to compete on the international market....we would have a real battle on our hands. We won't get the right international price of our agric goods. Western farms, with their tech, better soils , better soil management, better farming practice, would run us into the ground.
Remember that most African countries who 'rely on agriculture' are debt ridden. (Ghana has a debt of 26 billion dollars, Burkina 4 billion dollars,Kenya 35.9 billion dollars)
12. In the event of a split...there would be war. And anyone who tells me otherwise should go and rest. There is going to be a fight over resources , and it would be neverending.
13. Of course, any new nation arising from Nigeria, in ten years is going to be broke and poor, is what I am trying to say.
Nigeria is a contraption, but the alternatives are far far worse. Your points are myopic. Why, because you are using what operates now to expartiate what would happen if these entities separate. It is just like a wife who is scared of what to live if she loses her husband. When she finally loses her husband, then she would realize that she has many unutilized potentials. My question you is do you even know that Iboland holds a huge reserve of untapped natural gas? Assuming you take away natural resources, have you ever imagined that countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Israel, etc have little ir no natural resources? Yet, they play in the big league. Oil is the cause of Nigeria's laziness. Everyone wakes up and depend on Abuja to share resources. If there are no resources to share, the ingenuity of the human person comes to the fore, so quit SS oil theorem. Just so you know, I am SS, from Delta State but we benefit nothing from the oil, only name as oil producing with nothing to show for it, rather devastation, pollution, strife and military siege. The only gain I got from the oil resource was one-time bursary award by Gov Ibru. Never received a dime from Nigeria government all through primary to post-graduate education, never even been employed by Nigerian state, except NYSC, yet we are oil producing state Left to me, let oil become like coal, useless! Those plundering the resources are the ones afraid of break up. Break up, it is a matter of time. Just know it! |

The NASS passed the 2021 Electoral Bill after almost three years of reviewing and ended up inserting a senseless clause on Direct primaries. Sent bill to the President for assent, meanwhile they all missed the important point of seeking to understand the capacity of INEC in supervising direct primaries across all political parties across 8766 wards, 774 LGAs, over 1400 constituencies, 37 states and so and so forth. Perhaps they were beclouded by greed or personal sentiments. They forgot about cost of such exercise. Now they are inviting INEC chair to ask about cost and logistics. An Assembly of over 400 members, not one thought of the implication of such reckless insertion. It took the presidency to spot such recklessness to our lawmakers. What a shame! Yet they earn higher than stable demicracies. What primaries are they talking about? The same one conducted in Lagos or the one in Anambra where results were purchased by higher bidders or godfathers? Mr President should just return the bill to them, let political parties determine their nomination process. NIGERIA DOES NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES TO WASTE ON DIRECT PRIMARIES! |
