No sir!!! I am from South South like you. My former class mate got awards for all levels when we did ICAN. He is an Edo man. ICAN does not include names on answer booklet, no tribe or religion, only your centre and number. Exam markers are not given your information before hand. I wrote all my examinations in Benin and passed. Just be serious with your studies and forget about this tribal thing. Those days, if you go to PYE and Safe Tutors (in Lagos) you would know some of us in other parts of Nigeria were not reading. ICAN is for serious students. It is quite unlike your normal semester examinations. It is a professional examination for Chartered Accountants.

Lol bro, you are speaking like you don't even have knowledge of a simple learning affect, no offence but I expect you to know better.

If after you have done ican, I don't expect you to have much problem with Acca, if any (compared to someone that hasn't done any prof exam before), this is because there must have been a learning effect all through your doing ican.. Its the same with someone who has done Acca, I don't expect him to find ican hard at all because of the learning effect.

Saying ican is the best is just your opinion, I know people who are chartered accountants under ican and still finding certain papers in Acca problematic, (although this ordinarily shouldn't be the case).. A lot of factors comes into play in how you approach and can handle subsequent professional exams..
I did ICAN when it was pass all or fail all at one sitting. No carry over. Any serious student of ICAN can pass ACCA with ease. I have passed the two routes and I am talking out of experience. After completing ACCA, I realised it could not take me to my desired destination or give me any reciprocity, then I enrolled in for CIMA (Gateway through Strategic case Study). Even with the so called learning effect, I still reckoned that CIMA was tougher than ACCA. However, with my ICAN background, it was easier for me than most others. My point is, ICAN gives you a SOLID foundation. Yet not recognised outside Nigeria, but if you can pass ICAN, you can pass ACCA easily!

Is CIMA recognised in Canada and US?
Secondly, please compare CIMA with the aforementioned. Thanx
CIMA awards ACMA and CGMA designations on qualifying. With ACMA, you can join CPA, CMA (Canada) on reciprocity, even as at today. With CGMA, you are recognised by AICPA (US). Check out details on www.cimaglobal.com. If you can, go for CIMA. Reason, you can get ICAN on a platter (not sure how many papers you would be required to write now). Again, you become CPA (Canada) on landing Canada and you can vie off to US and use your CGMA. However, note that CIMA is TOUGH also and requires EXTENSIVE reading. It is DOABLE, just be focused and deactivate your NL, Twitters, FB, and face your book for the period. Joke sha!! grin grin grin

i really agree with you Op. Most pple just think that ACCA is beans. They are wrong!
Bros, I am FCA (ICAN), before leaving Nija, I did some of these foreign "over-rated" exams (ACCA & CIMA), and completed them back to back. This was with the pressure of work. ICAN is still the toughest and the BEST. May not yet have the recognition outside Nigeria, but no ICAN member can be stranded in either ACCA or CIMA. If you CAN PASS ICAN, these ones are BEANS!!! Quote me anywhere in this WORLD. Just another correction, CIMA is tougher than ACCA and is now recognised in US (CGMA designation is offered qualified members by both CIMA (UK) and AICPA (US)).

The name is I CAN!!! Go for it as a sure foundation for your accounting designation. The stress you will pass through will prepare you for a jolly ride over ACCA.

Pastor Bosun tried his best to warn us. Our people did not listen, just like the the Hebrew did not believe Jeremiah, our people were so blinded with the promise of a Vice President. When last did your hear of the VP of US? Who is the vice president of India, the biggest democracy in the world? Who is the deputy governor of your state do you know them? Years back, I was offered the position of Vice-Chairman of my association, I turned it down and accepted a Secretaryship position, because VP is just a "spare tyre" without clear cut constitutional role or responsibility.

Three Woes be unto all those Christians who with their eyes open sold off Nigeria to these demons! They are the Sanballat and Tobiah (Nehemiah Chapter 4) of today.

Our military don't have good moral standards to lead a nation.

But good one @OP.
Unfortunately, op is a clear realist. Any military coup now would be highly celebrated. Buhari has turn out to be worse than IBB and Abacha. Corruption is not only stealing money. Destroying the foundation of national cohesion, through religion inclination, tampering with the judiciary, gagging the press, corrupting the electoral process, destroying NASS ability to check executive, turning DSS and EFCC as hound dogs are worse than stealing money. This government has achieved nothing in less than a year than destroying institutions of state and exalting nepotism in both outlook and action. This shenanigans would not stop until a "no-nonsense" soldier like Rawling of Ghana or Sankara of Burkina Faso comes to party. One thing is sure! The same God that terminated IBB and Abacha, is still on the THRONE. It is a matter of time...

The lead vehicle (pilot vehicles) determine the speed of the led. If pilot vehicle was overspending, the minister's vehicle must necessarily meet up or be left behind. The police need to investigate this thoroughly as the FRSC may have a point here. They have also to determine if the seat belts were used or they could unhook on impact.
Please, do not rule out foul play.

Point of correction, the landlord knew there was a problem(no light) but didn't know what the actual problem was

The new electrician didn't know thing were that messed up, he probably thought that it was a blown fuse or burnt wires only to get up there to see a conundrum of problems.

Things would have been worse off under Jonathan, if he had won or even during his term, you didn't experience any of this because the price of oil was up, so there was money in circulation to cushion all ill effect.
The second electrician is totally unprofessional in promising to solve what he knows nothing about. If you have a car that is not starting, would a mechanical engineer tell you he can clean it up without assessing the situation? We all knew that Nigeria is not the best, but what was handed over to Buhari. He has practically destroyed. You are also following the footstep of the naive or clueless one.

By the way, are you aware power has plummeted to below 1580 level for the first time in the last 36 years? That is another record breaking achievement by the APC and Buhari Government of Chain.

Op is as clueless as the electrician who would boast to the landlord that he has the miracle of solving his house problem. Only for the landlord to award the contract to him and all he does is complain and looking for who to blame.

OP, the landlord knew about the problem of the house. The new electrician also knew about the problem? Question for you is why sack the first if the last would be complaining without solutions? The new one boasted to turn the house to "Utopian State", rather has recreated a similitude of Hell Fire.

My solution to the house owner is to quickly sack the new electrician as he is worse than the first. He lied about his competence and keeps pretending he has the answer whereas he is CLUELESS! If you ever built you would encounter such individuals. If you fail to sack them, you end up with uncompleted structure.

Please, ask Buhari to face governance and stop complaining and running from pillar to post. This is not the Nigeria that was handed over to him. Sai Baba has turned to Shame Baba!!

Mr President never said there is no FX for education, the question is, 'at what rate'
Even if you wish to import toothpick and require FX, you will definitely get it, but at what rate?
If the government allows school fees to be paid at the official rate, then the government is subsidizing the school fees.
Therefore Mr President was only saying that school fees will no longer be subsized because we can no longer support it.

Do you know the simple implication?
Any time government subsize FX payment, our reserve is directly affected

Please go back and watch the video interview and you will see that Ben Bruce was talking nonsense here

I am wondering if the Nigerian first lady Aisha Buhari is aware of these cases of abduction of under aged Christian children and forceful conversion to Islam and being married off, without parental consent.

Nigerians should prevail on Mrs Buhari to lend her voice to this matter as a Muslim, Nigeria first lady and a mother. This is not the time to keep mute as if it does not matter, it matters.

Again the involvement of Emirs, Sharia courts and Muslim leaders in this crime need to be condemned. It is now obvious that this crime has been going on for years and one wonders if the Chibok girls are not really being held in one Emir's palace.
