Labour union should only agree to a proposal that holds this govt accountable. It's not only about reversing it back to N65 but ensuring this Govt. keeps its promise to - A 20% reduction in subsidy starting in April 2012 and for the next 5yrs. Yearly increment will be tied to tangible implementation of projects in key areas: completion of refineries, building of roads, Improvement in power supply etc. For instance, if by April 2013 an agreed upon project is not completed then Govt cannot increase prices. - Cut in salary for all Federal elected officials. 25% cut in basic salary and 50% cut for all other allowances. Plus a firm commitment to cut wasteful spending in the budget. Allocating N18.5 billion for Aso Rock is a prime example. - An independent investigation into the N1.3 trillion subsidy for this year and overall oil subsidy regime. Forget that Senate investigation; that's just show and tell. I just don't know who can handle this - Reject any palliative measures. We don't need that crap. This is only for Jonah and his boys to chop money This is the way to go; if not this govt will come back in 2yrs or 3yrs and tell us the economy is collapsing and they need to remove oil subsidy @OCCAM VERY WELL SAID ITS HIGH TIME NIGERIANS LEARNT TO STRICTLY MONITOR GOVT. |

The Jonathan administation wants to forcefully make Nigerians pay for its incompetence. Imagine, they made no provision for fuel subsidy in the 2012 budget, it was passed and now that it (fuel subsidy removal) has backfired, he now wants to force it down our throats by resisting reversal. Infact before/ when this bruhaha boils over, IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS AGAINST PRESIDENT JONATHAN should proceed. This is what am praying for.------- ![]() |
WITH WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THESE PRO-SUBSIDY REMOVAL GUYZ ARE FIGHTING THE SAME COURSE WE ANTI-SUBSIDY REMOVAL GUYZ ARE FIGHTING, JUST THAT THEIR PROTEST IS ILL INFORMED AND ILL TIMED. SUBSIDY REMOVAL IS GOOD, DONT GET US WRONG BUT I) BUILD REFINARIES OR REPAIR OUR EXISTING REFINARIES TO START MAXIMUM PRODUCTION. II) BUILD REAL AND NOT IMAGINARY INFRASTRUCTURES. III) SLASH THE WASTEFUL GOVT SPENDING IV) FIGHT CORRUPTION SQUARELY V) IMPROVE OUR STANDARD OF LIVING (AT LEAST SHOW A STRONG RESOLVE TO DO THESE THINGS BY DOING 40% OF IT, WITHOUT INSSUING EMPTY PROMISES)IS ALL THESE TOO MUCH TO ASK. THEN WHEN ALL IS IN PLACE, YOU ARE SO WELCOME TO WITHDRAW FUEL SUBSIDIES WITHOUT ((MUCH) RESISTANCE. BUT INSTEAD OF RALLYING TOGETHER THIS HAPPENS. WHY ON EARTH ARE OUR FELLOW IGBO'S SELLING US OUT NOW? |
;DWorld bank and IMF told GLJeo to jump into the flame by removing fuel subsidy& he sheepishly went ahead and did it like a "ZOMBIE". Dont blame the world bank or IMF for being much smarter than GLJoe, who is dumb. This GLJoe is our real headache, guyz. ![]() |

Mrs. Minister does not get it. A few thousand buses cannot solve even the transportation problems that will come from removing the subsidy. You say government does not have money, yet the waste continues. The reason petrol is expensive in Nigeria is because it is IMPORTED. Keep the subsidy until you have done the following: 1. Repair our existing refineries to function at full capacity 2. Encourage investors to build new refineries with the promise that the day they begin production subsidy will be removed. 3. Eliminated the gross waste in government. The presidency cannot propose to spend billions of naira on food and entertainment and expect Nigerians to make this kind of sacrifice. If the executive and legislative arms of government do not collect their allowances (not salaries) for 2012, we would have enough money to subsidize petrol. @SINJU, PLS DONT TELL THESE VAGABONDS IN POWER WHAT TO DO ANYMORE, THEY ALREADY KNOW IT. THEY JUST PLAYING STUPID OR ARE ACTUALLY STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPID! |
GOD!!! SO THESE ARE THE KIND OF JUNKIES JONAH SURROUNDS HIMSELF WITH. THESE MINSTERS ARE LESS THAN NOTHING. IF DORA WAS AROUND I DONT THINK SHE WOULD HAVE ACCEPTED THIS. THIS SHOW BY MRS OKONJO ONLY SIGNIFIES THAT THEIR ARE LOONIES EVEN IN THE IMF. ME THINKS THE IMF EVEN CONSPIRED TO INJECT HER WITH RABIES BE4 SHE EVEN RESIGNED. |
DONT U SEE THAT THIS IS A STRATEGY TO AVERT THE MAIN ISSUE HERE. I TELL U THIS VAGABONDS IN POWER WILL DO NADA WITH THE MONEY, LET ME MAKE IT VERY CLEAR TO U,NOTHING! ![]() |
Thank you, now you are seeing with me! What transpired with the reps today should be a classsic eye-opener to all observers. Did you see the way they squashed the motion to pursue, investigate and arrest the cabal? That was a measure of the cabals strength given to us toasted and hot on TV. GEJ has taken a very great risk and that is why he will never back down. Its now an all or nothing fight, in fact I believe that is why Nigerian were lulled into thinking nothing was gonna happen, then boom! We indeed have a very serious problem on our hands and the sources of the problems can move mountains in Nigeria. ;DSo GLJoe is AFRAID of the CABAL!!!NO WONDER!!!WHAT A GRAND COMMANDER he is, Men he's TOAST if he should reverse the subsidy. I dont give a RATS ASS if he&his family r TOAST, let him just reverse the petrol thingy. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

Though just an advise to ASO ROCK COCONUT HEAD.And for those clamouring for salary cut, i earnestly pray our prayers will be answered. A colonial official, Harold Smith, in a London television interview some years ago provided a window into the motives that informed British policies on Nigeria through the period of colonialism to independence. Hear him: "When we assessed Nigeria, this was what we found in the southern region; strength, intelligence, determination to succeed, well established history, complex but focused life style, great hope and aspirations, the East is good in business and technology, the west is good in administration and commerce, law and medicine, but it was a pity we planned our agenda to give power "at all cost" to the northerner. They seemed to be submissive and silly of a kind. Our mission was accomplished by destroying the opposition at all fronts. The west led in the fight for the independence, and was punished for asking for freedom. They will not rule Nigeria!" "Despite seeing vast land with no human but cattle in the north, we still gave the north 55 million instead of 32 million (in the census). This was to be used to maintain their majority votes and future power bid. The West without Lagos was the most populous in Nigeria at that time but we ignored that. The north was seriously encouraged to go into the military. We believed, that the south may attend western education,-but future leaders will always come from military background. Their traditional rulers were to be made influential and super human. The northerners were given acceleratcd promotions both in the military and civil service to justify their superiority over the south. Everything was to work against the south. We truncated their good plan for their future. I was very sorry for the A.G; it was a great party too much for African standard. We planned to destroy Awolowo and Azikwe, the west and the east and sowed a seed of discord among them. We tricked Azikiwe into accepting to be president having known that Balewa will be the main man with power. Awolowo had to go to jail to cripple his genius plans for a greater Nigeria. If Northern leaders have any agenda in Nigeria at all, sadly it is only for the north, and nothing for Nigeria. The time has come now to see people of intelligent minds with an open and inclusive agenda for all Nigerians in power, people who will really look after Nigeria's large population, her wealth, her potentials, her future."
