Religion throws no illumination to life. Besides, the truthfulness of religious claims is the crux of this issue. Even if religion is positively influencial those that make the claim true?
A true claim is a proposition that a particular person or believe system hold to be true , it does not necessarily mean that is absolute.....at least ....atheism make their own truth claim.... they specifically claim that no deity or deities is existing....religion on the other hand make claim on human nature or laws of nature....

for you to conclude and say religious claim is false ,you must have carry out the method of truth verification..... so i put it to you, how do you verify truth claim? religious has provided two method of truth verification....the materialistic aspect(the use of the five senses) and its opposite(the spirituality)....

I will try as much as possible to cut the long story short!

So i finally gained Admission into the University of Ilorin to study ECONOMICS "my dream course" but unfortunately for me the Level Adviser denied me final clearance saying i don't have GOVERNMENT in my O'LEVEL. I got 234 in my JAMB so it wasn't enough for ACCOUNTING, was thinking of switching to FINANCE but the school ended up moving me to dept. MARKETING still under Management Science. Don't know if I should migrate to FINANCE when i get to 200Level! or to Just remain in Marketing!

I can't say I comprehend the gravity of the Stress and hardship it takes to get a good paying JOB for dis our 9ja!

So abeg my already Experienced GrownUps and Graduates in the house i need your advise in terms of JOB Opportunities and Good Salary! Which Degree is BEST?
i think this is the most important question.....what will i be able to do with marketing or finance degree after graduation?

i can only advice you on the course content .....are you mathematical or literature incline ?.....if you are mathematical incline, a degree in finance will be stress free for you. but if not, you might end up poorly, because you will do lot of business maths. marketing on the other hand is literature focus with little maths related module. here you need to learn the master of chew and pour.....

so evaluate yourself on what is best for you.....

from a traditionalist point of view.....
evolution does not negate design, that is a correct observation from johnydon ....i even applaud that thread....

but the problems is this which my fellow theists are victim of, is calling God an intelligent designer .....God is more than an intelligent designer....calling GOD an intelligent designer will amount to the tendency of looking for God in the gaps of scientific explanation....God evidence is beyond science reach......God is not a testable object which is the main point of science.

God is the one who imparts being to the whole of created reality and who enables all of the powers of causation within creation.GOD is simply an explanation of every natural phenomenon and not to be found in the gap.......so johnnydon was wrong when he said God design is not perfect.....you can not explain GOD through science.....all creature live and move and have their being in God. manifesting in their divine logos

GOD can be called any name so far it praise him......yahweh,allah, olodumare are languages,,,,,when i pray alone i call God by the name olodumare but when i am talking to non yoruba speaker, i either use GOD or jah....there is one GOD and he is the creator of all but we all choose to call him the name that fit our mental convenience.....let me ask you a question why do we call earth, earth? who do the naming ceremony?.......

every religion is valid so long it promote love and peace..... i agree some doctrine of much of them may not be perfect but there is no absolute laid back religion

atheism can not offer or replace the benefit of a religion .....ko le work

Hav u eva prayed? For somtin in particular n u gt it?
Hav u eva been sick n u prayed within mins d pains were gone?
Hav u eva experience peace when u tot it would neva come to u

If dere is no God… den who ans d prayers?
Who made healthy wen u prayed for healing?
Who gave u dat tin u prayed ?

Apart frm all dis, u see miracles day by day…
U read dem, u hear of dem, som science hav nt been able to explain……

Wit all dat even without reading the bible to see his works…. Dat alone should tell u somtin
you do not need to explain all these.....most atheist are materialistic .....they want to touch and see God before they can be satisfy that God exist or perhaps every new born baby should come with a labelled that will read '' made from GOD''

If you did understand science i doubt if you would ask a question such as this..
can you shed more light on this....this is what i understood about life creation according to science..... the fundamental unit of life is derived from the chemicals called amino acids. amino acids can form naturally either in a lightning strikes and other energetic phenomena but
how did we get from amino acids to RNA, the fundamental unit of advanced life......what about the doctor catfishbelly and agentofallah?

Christianity Etc › What Is Our Purpose On Earth? A Worth Reading Thread by vaxx(op):
A very philosophical and thought provoking question, and it may take the entire lifetime to find the answer. But it is not worthwhile to move forward and discover our possibilities, which as a matter of fact are unlimited? yes, unlimited.

ALL other form of creature have limitations except the human form .A plant will stay as a plant, flowers will blossom and die out and another will blossom again. a dog is born as a dog and die as a dog.in between birth and death. it possibilities are largely limited to being faithful to its master. the spider has been making the same kind of webs his predecessors made.the birds have been making the same next for millions of years. Meanwhile we humans have progressed from those primitive days of haunting with a club and eating raw meat to these modern civilized days of aircraft, computers, restaurant etc....

it is not a small achievement to set foot on the moon , to discover another planet different from us,and we are making breakthrough into the unknown. day by day.......

so what is our purpose on earth ? all advances and discoveries reflect the materialistic aspect of our purpose, and we have achieved tremendous material success.but it is only one side of the coin ...our entire nature moves according to the law of opposite. after days comes night , and heat after cold and death after birth .imagine if this law of opposite began to malfunction ? NO night after day, no heat after cold, and no death after birth .could we survive in such a scenario?the best bet we will not. then how do you think we could survive without the opposite part of the materialistic purpose , without the spiritualist aspect of the two fold journey of life on planet earth?

Yes, some aspects of Maths and science. Example the multiplication table is the same the world over, it is clerk concise and agreed upon by everybody the world over, even if you have questions about it once you study and understand ot you'll find your answers. The cell theory in boiology or the characteristics of living things is the same and agreed upon the world over(MR NIGER D).

Is there any thing about religion any religion or its doctrine that is acceptable the world over, and when people study it they will all accept and come to the same conclusion?
let me do justice to your assumptions....

yes, some aspect of mathematics are generally the same all over the world. for example 2+2=4 . this can be term as objective mathematical truth. But, in fact, it is only true relative to a certain set of proposition. You and I are free to choose different precept, and 2+2=4 may be false for me but true for you. So, it is clearly not a completely objective truth.it is a just a kind of agreement to achieved mental convenience....

mathematical truth depends on our free subjective choice of axioms , it is not completely objective. However, if we both adopt the same axioms, we will both necessarily agree upon what is true and what is false. In that sense, mathematical truth is objective, but only if we agree to regulate our subjective choices in the same way. you can read further here

https://www.google.com.gh/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiFkMrtoOvYAhWIJuwKHXklCOcQFgguMAE&url=https%3A%2F%2Fmath.vanderbilt.edu%2Fschectex%2Fccc%2Fchoice.html&usg=AOvVaw0a--5bbbCCF4zBXIzlsLYY

Now, let dive into objectivity in science. using the empirical model, a 100-yard length of a football field is an example of an objective truth that most people agree upon . But, in fact, according to relativity, intervals of length are only well defined relative to our choice of reference frame. Such choice is a free, subjective choice. You can choose one frame, and I can choose another. And the football field will have one length in your frame and another length in mine. We can say the length of the field is objective only if we agree to tailor our subjective choice of reference frame in the same way, e.g., we both adopt the frame of the football field.

the example i made here point out to the fact that we can treat something as objective only to the extent that we define and explicitly specify the subjective conditions under which it is defined or measured. Objectivity arises as the result of imposing common agreement on subjective choices in our definitions and procedures.

i will end by saying The objective arises by constraining the subjective.

your question.....i put in quote ''Is there any thing about religion any religion or its doctrine that is acceptable the world over, and when people study it they will all accept and come to the same conclusion?'' dalaman

my reply ..... NO, even within the religion, there is no general acceptable dogma....Christianity and Islam are divided into many set today because of the difference in their subjective views......

Why not even google the meaning of objective and see how wrong you are?
ok let me hold on a little.....what is objective evidence?

When you say to Vaxx, "You obviously need to do some research on the topic at hand. You might want to read up on it here.
Good. You kept track.
I am saying the objective stands in its own right and has nothing to do with the eye of the beholder. This is the opposite of what vaxx said, so I imply vaxx's statement is false," you can make the needed correction later Sir.

If we consider that the mental experiences are the visible things that we take to be outside us, in this case the fallen tree. The thing itself is admittedly existent, but the character of the thing is what we have now found out and we have found it to be quite other than it is commonly thought to be.

BudaAtum, if you declare as in the bolded Red, that there are two separate facts, the fact of perception/subjectivity and the fact of an objective external material object, you have made a false analysis of sensation. The oneness of both idea and object is a discovery to which the subtle thinking of world religions and the sharp observations of good scientists inescapably lead us.

But this understanding emerges only after the hardest and most rigorous reflection, if one refuse to accept the anceint spiritual doctrines
Once this point is grasped, then one may say to himself: " I am aware of my awareness of this fallen tree," and he will then perceive that he cannot strip the second awareness from the tree in itself; they constitute an indivisible entity. Those who want to divide the facts, the tree known, into a perception of it on one hand, and its material objective substantiate on the other, who make perception a mental act and materialialty a non-mental thing, who challenges mind against matter, fall into a grievous fallacy. This is the downfall of Atheism.

What we can only know about the fallen tree is an idea, what we perceive is not a discovery but a mental construction. Those who deny this put themselves in the predicament of explaining away the inexplicable.
i salute your interpretation

Oh listen to yourself.

If you cared to notice, I said so myself, but you managed to disregard the argument involved and posited the counter to it which in effect makes your god a figment of your imagination! Or do you think the about three times I've said so on this thread is in error?

Stick with the discussion. Do not let your religious subjectivity stop you from seeing the objective truth!
how do you verify the objective truth?
