Islamic society failed to provide a tangible role for a women and likewise that of christanity.......both see women as a lesser and uninteligent creature.....

Christianity Etc › Do You Believe In Destiny? Maybe You Should........this Is What Ifa Says ...... by vaxx(op):
The destiny. ori ni meja lawo. ori mi gbe mi.(my destiny make a path for me)

This is what odu IFA says. (oracle womb) At the moment of conception, in the domain of Ajala Mopin (Ori), certain irreversible decisions are made.

They are made in two areas: the physical and the spiritual. The physical area with which we are obviously familiar includes gender, sexual orientation, race, color, and the Host of physical senses such as sight, smell, hearing and touch.

All of these will be, in some sense; dependent upon the choices we made in our physical self.

The spiritual side of Ori is also chosen, but it is divided into two areas.

The first, Apari-inu represents character; Ori-Apere represents destiny.

Destiny itself is divided into three areas: Akunleyan, Akunlegba, and Ayanmo. Akunleyan is the request you make at Ajale's domain- what you would like in specifics during this lifetimes.

The number of years you wish to live, the kinds of success you hope to achieve, the relationships you desire, the wisdom you seek to accumulate. Akunlegba are those things given to you to help you achieve these things. Both Akunleyan and Akunlegba can be modified or enhanced by sacrifice and ritual throughout our lives. Ayanmo is that part of our destiny which cannot be changed: our gender, race, sexuality etc.

The famous Yoruba wisdom: "It is easier to change a man's destiny than his character" any question?

Babalawo or IFA priest is simply anyone who is part of a member of the group who understand and can interpret the binary code and the particle physics embedded in the Yoruba computational template called IFA(oracle).....to be fully called babalawo, the person must pass an oral examination that are usually conducted by 12 already made babalawo..... Please explain further. My plan is to tax the consumption of the rich heavily and to provide shared infrastructure. How will that make poor people poorer?
taxing the rich more has never been effective to solve unemployment , using the USA and the UK has a case study .... the rich in these countries are heavily tax yet the unemployment rate is still up... robbing peter to pay paul can never be a solution, it will only make peter to be more wiser and find a way to collect what paul has stolen from him .....such is the capitalist society ...

copying our enslave master mode of economy will not provide solution to our problem,i guess it might even worsen it....china south Korea and Singapore were once colonized. but these state decided to take their future into their own hands after their freedom by putting down an economical plan that best suit their culture, value and norms and now they are at per or even better than their past master..

if we must grow, our value, norms and culture must play a critical role in our economy, which is not to take from the rich to the poor, but work and grow what we eat.....this is the true upbringing of a black man
Politics › Re: If You Are The President Of Nigeria, How Will You Solve Unemployment by vaxx:
trillville:
Unemployment is not the problem but a symptom. The real problem is our low productivity which can be traced to our infrastructural deficit. If we had good transportation infrastructure, Electricity and a working judiciary that ensures contracts are enforced, Unemployment will naturally reduce.

The Problem
Why the government can not provide this infrastructure is because a majority of the income Nigeria earns is expended on recurrent expenditure, that is paying Civil/Public Servants who account for less than 10 percent of our total population. Imagine you had 10 children and earned only 10 naira monthly. You take that 10 naira and give it to only 1 child and tell the other 9 children to provide services such as producing food, creating Entertainment, importing clothes and electronics, and even washing the clothes of that 1 special child to earn a living. You provide no security, no health care, no electricity, no water, no nothing to aid the progress of the other 9 children, yet when you announce to your children that you want to reduce the amount spent on the special child, all your 10 children will protest that you are wicked, that how do you expect the 1 child to survive. they will complain that instead of you to make them that special child, you are trying to further worsen all of their situations. This is the tragedy Nigeria currently faces.

The Solution
Increase the amount budgeted for capital expenditure which can be done in the following ways:

1. Raise taxes on the rich in society. Taxes such as estate tax, vehicle tax, luxury taxes. All taxes should be progressive, that is the larger your property, the higher your tax rate. This will invariably start a war on Effizy and should reduce people's craze for the wanton accumulation of wealth.

2. Conduct Business Analysis on all MDAs. if an MDA is not providing a highly important service such as education, health or security, and the MDA is not providing any sort of profit, either scrap the MDA completely or reduce the workforce drastically.

I am not an expert in government but why do we have road safety, civil defence, police, mobile police, DSS, VIO. Why? why so many different organisations.

What is the work of RMAFC? Can it be replaced by software and a single office in the ministry of finance?

We have NASRDA, NIGCOMSAT, SHEDA, PTDF, NITDA, BOUNDARY COMMISSION, POLICE COMMISSION, FEDERAL CHARACTER COMMISSION, ETC. someone should please tell me if these places are earning any income and how these places have benefitted the average Nigerian on the road. It is simply crazy. We don't have roads, we don't have electricity, we don't have water and we are spending lots of money and haven't gotten any tangible benefits from our spending in the last 10 years.

3. Conduct Business Process Analysis in Organisations that provide useful services. The fact that an organisation is useful does not imply that all workers within the organisation are needed. The government should relate job functions to specific roles within every organisation. An extra worker not providing any service will probably reduce the efficiency of other workers (Law of Diminishing Marginal Productivity).

In Summary, money saved should be used for infrastructure. If the Government were to reduce its workforce, it will be forced to also reduce its unnecessary spending and wages also because Nigerians will not be smiling and would require quick results to alleviate the suffering from these actions. In my view, this is the only way out for Nigeria

ps. sorry for any typos
your ideology will strengthen the rich...do not forget the rich has a cooperate entity that protect them.if not careful, the poor will remain poorer

good topic .....

am interested in a working market and not a labor market
yoruba adage ise logun ise...

if i am privileged to become the president of this country,i will focus my attention on three major sector....education ,agriculture and hospitality...honorary sector(electricity)
my focus will be to address the long time unemployment and not the short one that will fade off after my tenure...

The education
Nigeria education system is a shit hole that needs total restructuring....... i will automatically convert over 90 percent of our universities into an institution of technology .....these institution will help build functioning minds that are employable and are currently needed in the global industry....These professions will automatically make their way into Nigeria institution... IT-plumbers electricians-Construction workers-cabinetmakers-upholsterer-Mechanics-FARMING-

All kind of crafts will be included in our university curriculum .there will be a campaign to motivate Nigerians to work with their own hands and start contributing to the economy.

our polytechnics can be renamed as technical university......

The agriculture
in a nation like ours, agriculture should be the backbone of our economy and not oil. why ?agriculture provide the basic ingredient of life to mankind(food)and also the raw material to enable the industrial environment grow... i will heavily subsidized farming tools so that the farmers can adopt mechanized farming...farming work will be made lucrative to the citizens .... agricultural banks will be set up where start up loan with very little or no interest will be available but with strict monitoring , companies that are into agricultural business will pay lesser amount of tax so that she can employ more workers

How could people leave such a beautiful religion to worship a zombie
The reason was very pathetic. Christanity and islam were sholved down the belly of our forefathers...christanity was introduce to africa through a combination of gun, education and old fashion pride.....we do not just lost the beautiful religion, we also neglect our culture, norms and value . in a nut shell, the story goes thus

The first thread of Christian convertee were the free slaves who came along with Christian missionary

The second thread were the second class citizens of the society (OSU in Igbo language or the very poor family)who converted massively to Christianity just to cover their shame...

Why the last thread was the establishment of a centralized education....

Africans were not lliterate as the west may made you to think.. Though we may not have centralized system like that of the west, but we are actually not dumbed..... The west found a balance system of governance and administration in Yoruba land when they came ......we have our house of parliament which are the oloyes , we have judicial system which are the ogbonis.....this judicial system check and balance the power of oba(the president) and so on....

Thank God this question is used mostly by the atheists, sometimes Christian also use this question to validate the existence of god creating a son greater than him.....

But this question itself is illogical, it is like asking if seun osewa can create a section that attract so much traffic on nairaland that he can't block.....

Anyway I will attempt the absurd question

Yes, this is not out of His ability. He can create an unliftable rock, but it will only be unliftable to the creation, not the Creator God; He still lift that unliftable rock though, because nothing can limit His ability.

Though it may seems like a paradox, which means "a seemingly absurd or contradictory statement or proposition which when investigated may prove to be well founded or true."(free dictionary)

Let's dive into science a little. ..
Some particles can be in two places at once, for example a photon. This seems impossible but is the case in quantum mechanics!

Likewise, God lifting an unliftable rock comes across as a paradox to us, a contradictory statement, but just like with the photon, they are well founded.

Christianity Etc › Re: Ajayi Crowther - The Colonial Tool That Caused The Mental Enslavement Of Nigeria by vaxx: 7:20pm On Jan 10, 2018
PAGAN9JA:
Samuel Ajayi Crowther’s character is no different from that of boxer in George Orwell’s book titled ‘animal farm’.

Although usually seen as a hero, Ajayi Crowther was an ignorant man and white apologist that was used and dumped by the British to make headways into Yorubaland. He is no different from the mental slaves today who believe that the only foundation for good human existence in any context is that with the blue print of the west. According to Wole Soyinka, ‘There is nothing to choose ultimately between the colonial mentality of Samuel Ajayi Crowther, West Africa's first black bishop, who groveled before his white missionary superiors ... and the new black ideologues who are embarrassed" by African traditions. Both suffer from externally induced fantasies of redemptive transformation in the image of alien masters.’

In the 1800’s the British wanted to put an end to slavery, not because they had compassion towards Africans but because they wanted to migrate to Africa as imperialists. They needed to rebrand their image from slave raiders to friends in order to mingle with the people and make them comfortable with their presence in the prelude to colonialism of the continent. One of their important weapons of mental warfare is religion. Every empire building nation understood that the best way to mentally enslave a people is through a religion. This is why the Roman Catholic remained a powerful political center for unity long after the Roman Empire collapsed.

Samuel Ajayi Crowther had a unique advantage at the time, not much people had a good mastery of language and translations. He translated the Bible from English to Yoruba and through such means, he distorted many versions of Yoruba history in context. One example was the translation of esu to devil. The biblical version of devil did not exist in Yoruba culture, there was nothing to compare to the devil, so he picked a deity called Esu, god of the crossroads and translated him to be devil. Esu does not have hell, he never betrayed loyalty to Eledumare and never at any time led a rebellion of a fraction of heavenly hosts in a coup against Eledumare. This was all the imagination of an African bishop on the payroll of his masters from the west.

Ajayi Crowther as the face of their religion at the time and worked hard to convert many of his native kinsmen to the British version of Christianity. It was Ajayi Crother who pioneered the Anglican mission in Onitsha and Lokoja. As a bishop, he groomed 10 native priests to help him in his religious mission. After he had successfully built a strong Anglican base, the white priests decided they had no need of him again insisting that Ajayi Crowther and his priests were intellectually inferior and unqualified for the posts they had. The first thing they did was to take the Niger mission treasury from his control, they would eventually dismiss all the priests that worked with him to build the missions and ultimately forced him to resign out of frustration in 1890. He spent the few months after his resignation as a broken man and died of stroke shortly after (1891) in Lagos.

From Ifatola Akiwumi
this same mental slavery is very rampant now even among the so co educated...... Ask them what is education the common answer by Nigerian is the ability to read in and write in english.....so i say to them do germans and japanese need english to be educated.....if you are professor and you are a yoruba but you can not read and write in yoruba language you are an illiterate ......... The same goes to non english speaker .

Ajayi crowther isn't just an ignorance, he also abuse intellect because no evidence he brought on board to substantiate his evidence that Jesus is better than orunmila......

The simple and straight answer is No

Well on this board people probably are too rigid in thinking, others perhaps are forced to walk same faulty straight line in thought.

Here, it is seen as evolution VS design. These are the two lines and none overlaps, none crosses the other.

But as this post is meant to argue, design doesn't really negate evolution neither does evolution negate design.

This post probably is to the advantage of those who argue for a designed world or man.

When we say Evolution it simply means development, modifications, transition.

Now my point on the post isn't too much to grasp, all you need is a basic thought on the nature of design.

Go through every form of design you know on earth, its a constant story of a long lingering evolution.

The first computers were simple abacus, I think that'd go further to the first counting stones but today the computer have grown to be so sophisticated that it looks totally different from its ancestors.

Or perhaps a look at Mercedes Benz of 1930s and that of today.

They look nothing alike.

The Mercedes Benz designs and functionalities have evolved through the years.

Or perhaps the mobile phone through the ages.

There are no design that do no go through consistent stage of modifications/evolution.

Evolution is in fact a tool of design.

So when ever I observe the arguments here and it seems to be a well pronounced line of Evolution vs design, it bemoans the lack of debth in many individuals method of thinking.

Evolution do not negate design, as a matter of fact if God or a creator made humans or everything, it appeals to logic that these designs also goes through stages of development and modifications of existing designs.

Let anyone who wish to argue fully understand the position they wish to argue on, matters of such magnitude have more debth than just left and right wing.

there is collaboration between individual and public morality through the intermediation of moral agents which are the bablawo, the elders and the king.

The society is morally self sustainable through constant communication with the oracle and not base on existing laws or authority while the enforcement of rules and law is not coercive as it is in the modern state,

This stick to the consciousness of the people and progress is ensure, an obedience becomes a duty for duty's sake and not the oracle sake .......

KARMA IS JUST ANOTHER RELIGIOUS BELIEF HUMANS MADE UP TO COMFORT THEMSELVES.
KARMA CLAIMS THAT YOU WILL BE PUNISHED FOR BAD ACTIONS AND WILL BE REWARDED FOR POSITIVE ACTIONS. THIS LAW SAYS IT'S ALWAYS TRUE, WHEN THERE ARE MILLIONS OF CASES WHERE IT ISN'T.

FROM THE DRUG LORD WHO IS A BILLIONAIRE TO THE CHILD BORN WITH TWO HEADS, DO YOU THINK THEY REALLY DESERVE WHAT THEY HAVE? WHAT COULD AN UNBORN BABY HAVE DONE THAT WAS SO EVIL? EVEN IF THE PARENTS WERE ABUSIVE, IS IT REALLY FAIR TO PUNISH THE CHILD? BRINGING UP PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WON'T MATTER BECAUSE THERE ARE SUCH THINGS AS COINCIDENCES. AND IF KARMA AFFECTS THE "NEXT LIFE," IS THAT JUSTIFIED EITHER? IF PEOPLE ARE TO BE REINCARNATED, THEY WILL BE GIVEN A BRAIN AND PERSONALITY DIFFERENT FROM THEIR OLD SELVES, SO IS THIS MORALLY CORRECT?

I FIND IT EXTREMELY LIKELY HUMANS ONLY CAME UP WITH THE IDEA OF KARMA TO MAKE THEMSELVES MORE COMFORTABLE, JUST LIKE THEY DID WITH THE CONCEPT OF GODS AND AN AFTERLIFE.
first of all, the concept of good and bad is abrahmic ideology or western idea .... Yoruba and other African religions don’t believe in the concept of good or bad. In fact, the concept of duality is a rare form of thought that is used mainly in the Western world. African religions operate from a different paradigm. They believe that everything is good and bad. War is good for the people who win because they get the additional resources needed for survival, but bad for the losers, who end up with nothing. Good and bad are on different sides of the same coin, and one cannot exist without the other.

A verse from ifa odu sums up karma karma concept by saying that Karma is the sum total of the consequences of all actions. This means that we cannot escape our karma. We must experience the positive and negative consequences of our actions. The Odu is a religious scripture that allows us to get feedback and guidance from a Godly force.

From the foundation of classical mechanics in physics ,Newton third law of motion found that "every action has equal and opposite reaction" this is just a discovery of action and effects from one perspective, its been formulated in science now because we've found the parameters to quantify it.

Whatever you do as an action surely comes with its own effects. We can't see all the effects immediately because we don't understand ALL the parameters involved in the PROCESS or REACTION.

My understanding of karma is different from India version, mine is African tradition deeply rooted to my tribe.....Yoruba version...... I will open a thread on it soon....

I have some unrelated question for you

Do you believe in luck?
Do you believe in love at first sight?

the white man is very clever. He came quietly with his religion. We were amused at his foolishness and allowed him to stay. Now he has won our brothers, and our clan can no longer act like one. He has put a knife on the things that held us together and we have fallen apart."

The words atheist and agnostic conjure up a number of different perceptions and meanings. When it comes to questioning the existence of gods, the subject is a tricky one that is often misunderstood.
No matter what their reasons or how they approach the question, agnostics and atheists are fundamentally different, but also non-exclusive. Many people who adopt the label of agnostic simultaneously reject the label of atheist, even if it technically applies to them.

In addition, there's a common misconception that agnosticism is somehow a more “reasonable” position while atheism is more “dogmatic,” ultimately indistinguishable from theism except in the details. This is not a valid argument because it misrepresents or misunderstands everything involved: atheism, theism, agnosticism, and even the nature of belief itself.
Let's explore the differences between being an atheist and an agnostic and clear the air of any preconceptions or misinterpretations.
What Is an Atheist?
An atheist is anyone who doesn't believe in any gods. This is a very simple concept, but it's also widely misunderstood. For that reason, there are a variety of ways to state it.
Atheism is the lack of belief in gods; the absence of belief in gods; a disbelief in gods; or not believing in gods.
The most precise definition may be that an atheist is anyone who does not affirm the proposition "at least one god exists." This is not a proposition made by atheists.

Being an atheist requires nothing active or even conscious on the part of the atheist. All that is required is not "affirming" a proposition made by others.
What Is an Agnostic?
An agnostic is anyone who doesn't claim to know whether any gods exist or not. This is also an uncomplicated idea, but it may be as misunderstood as atheism.

One major problem is that atheism and agnosticism both deal with questions regarding the existence of gods. Whereas atheism involves what a person does or does not believe, agnosticism involves what a person does or does not know. Belief and knowledge are related but nevertheless separate issues.
There's a simple test to tell if one is an agnostic or not. Do you know for sure if any gods exist? If so, then you're not an agnostic, but a theist. Do you know for sure that gods do not or even cannot exist? If so, then you're not an agnostic, but an atheist.
Everyone who cannot answer "yes" to one of those questions is a person who may or may not believe in one or more gods. However, since they don't also claim to know for sure, they are agnostic. The only question then is whether they are an agnostic theist or an agnostic atheist.
Agnostic Atheist Vs. Agnostic Theist
An agnostic atheist doesn't believe in any gods while an agnostic theist believes in the existence of at least one god. However, both do not make the claim to have the knowledge to back up this belief. Fundamentally, there is still some question and that is why they're agnostic.
This seems contradictory and difficult, but it's actually quite easy and logical.
Whether one believes or not, they can also be comfortable in not claiming to know for sure that it's either true or false. It occurs in many different topics as well because belief is not the same as direct knowledge.
Once it is understood that atheism is merely the absence of belief in any gods, it becomes clear that agnosticism is not, as many assume, a “third way” between atheism and theism. The presence of a belief in a god and the absence of a belief in a god does not exhaust all of the possibilities.
Agnosticism is not about belief in god but about knowledge. It was originally coined to describe the position of a person who could not claim to know for sure if any gods exist or not. It was not meant to describe someone who somehow found an alternative between the presence and absence of some particular belief.
Yet, many people have the mistaken impression that agnosticism and atheism are mutually exclusive. But why? There's nothing about "I don't know" which logically excludes "I believe."
On the contrary, not only are knowledge and belief compatible, but they frequently appear together because not knowing is frequently a reason for not believing. It's often a very good idea to not accept that some proposition is true unless you have enough evidence that would qualify it as knowledge. Being a juror in a murder trial is a good parallel to this contradiction.
There Is No Agnostic Vs. Atheist
By now, the difference between being an atheist and an agnostic should be pretty clear and easy to remember. Atheism is about belief or, specifically, what you don't believe. Agnosticism is about knowledge or, specifically, about what you don't know.
An atheist doesn't believe in any gods. An agnostic doesn't know if any gods exist or not. These can be the exact same person, but need not be.
In the end, the fact of the matter is that a person is not faced with the necessity of only being either an atheist or an agnostic. Not only can a person be both, but it is, in fact, common for people to be both agnostics and atheists or agnostics and theists.
An agnostic atheist won’t claim to know for sure that nothing warranting the label “god” exists or that such cannot exist. And yet, they also don’t actively believe that such an entity does indeed exist.
The Prejudice Against Atheists
It is worth noting that there is a vicious double standard involved when theists claim that agnosticism is “better” than atheism because it is less dogmatic.
If atheists are closed-minded because they are not agnostic, then so are theists.
Agnostics making this argument rarely state this explicitly. It's almost as if they are trying to curry favor with religious theists by attacking atheists, isn't it? On the other hand, if theists can be open-minded, then so can atheists.
Agnostics may sincerely believe that agnosticism is more rational and theists may sincerely reinforce that belief. However, it relies upon more than one misunderstanding about both atheism and agnosticism.
These misunderstandings are only exacerbated by continual social pressure and prejudice against atheism and atheists. People who are unafraid of stating that they indeed do not believe in any gods are still despised in many places, whereas “agnostic” is perceived as more respectable.
