chuksp09: Why did you wait for the movie to come out first na Suspense will kill you sha.
I would suggest you read the wheel of time, its an epic, with excellent world building, movie coming in November on Amazon prime.... but mehn the books are huge, probably need 6 to 7months to properly digest them...
What's the dune books like? Thanks for the rec. I'll definitely check out The Wheel of Time when I'm through with the Dune series. Per the bolded, from what I've read so far, the writing style is... different, but in a fascinating way. |

armadeo: I'm still on the first one. I have no idea how long it will take and its surely a slow burn dabbled with the occasional excitement. I'm 62 pages in, and yes it's a slow burn, but it's a good read so far. |

abduleez1: Omo, Bros you be strong man oo.
Don't know why books is ultimately hard to read these days. I woulda preferred physical hardcopy books, they're easier and lesser distractions. Wish you God Speed in your quest.
Me, I no get strength, I can't kill myself. The ones I got a week ago from Kaycee7, na glance I don glance through one.
I hope to read up some pages of the Fire and Blood, just before House of the Dragon. I try to read every day, and whilst it doesn’t always work, it motivates me to read when I am not watching anything. I mostly read in the evenings before I sleep. |

Ishilove: I'll Google it but the Mist I read is about a strange mist that came into a town and drove its inhabitants into homicidal episodes. Sounds similar to The Mist I read, here's the short synopsis: Out of the mist, dangerous creatures start attacking a town, and the residents take shelter in a pharmacy. There, they try to survive from the monsters as internal tensions break out. Later, it's revealed that the monsters came over from an alternate dimension, the gate to which was opened by a government research facility nearby. |

Ishilove: Frank Herbert! The first Herbert novel I read a trillion years ago was The Mist. I had no idea he wrote the Dune series He influenced the sci-fi genre in many ways, but I don't think he penned The Mist though. It was written by Stephen King. |

abduleez1: Lol,
Difference is Asians are not blind to pandering as Blacks are. Especially Chinese, they don't give two fvvks how Hollywood thinks their society or people should be. Disney tried it with Mulan and you can see how indifferent Chinese were to the movie. I think same happened to Crazy Rich Asians.
I suspect same treatment might meet Shang Chi in the middle Kingdom. But it's wait and see. I am interested to see how it plays in China. Nah, the average Chinese person despises Chinese-Americans. They don't consider them chinese enough apparently. But it's different with the Koreans, Indians and Japanese. |

Gmajor: Have you seen The descent? It captures claustraphobia exceptionally Yep, Descent is the perfect encapsulation of claustrophobic horror. It had not only the fear of being lost, trapped and claustrophobic, but being lost, trapped and claustrophobic with unknown hostile beings! That’s a lot of goddamn fear! |

AnfieldFan: I mean't AOTD being better than Shang Chi..... Literally everyone loves the movie(Shang Chi)....
As regards AOTD....The premise of stealing from a casino in a city overrun by zombies can make for a good story on paper.... Just the execution was subpar...That's what I mean by being good on paper but poor translation on screen... Maybe, a different director would have done better... Zach Snyder is a hugely talented director who is bogged down by his lack of identity. He's a weird mix between Michael Bay, Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg and Denis Villeneuve. This amalgam of different styles essentially makes him a jack of all trade and master of none. He's got the visual artistry of Michael Bay, the classic technique of Spielberg, postmodern ambiguity of Nolan, and voyeuristic hostile/abstract approach of Villeneuve. But in all of these, he's 2nd rate at best because he's merely a student learning from the masters. Sometimes simple is better, alas a concept that is as foreign as it's elusive to Snyder. Any half decent filmmaker with a firm, and clear understanding of straightforward storytelling would have done wonders with AotD script. |

AnfieldFan: I haven't seen Shang Chi yet but I doubt... I have mixed feelings about AOTD.... Good action...Good plot on paper...Abysmal plot execution and direction on screen... What do you mean you doubt Shang-Chi? Such blasphemy! Shang Chi is great fun, great fight choreography, and comedy. It's your loss if you don't wanna watch it. AotD plot was never good on paper to begin with. The premise had some potential but the plot was a dumbster fire. Snyder in his typical pretentious fashion made it more complicated than it had any right to be. |

Kaycee7: Is ZSJL's case really brigading? Or is it more a case of a movie being successful with its target audience? Can the Snydra fanbase really be accused of brigading if they were the majority that watched and rated the movie? The popular votes are heavily influenced by fans, are they not? It's brigading 101. Kaycee7: Boy, aren't we busy bees? From gaming audience polls to rigging streaming numbers? Funny how Netflix doesn't realize that and is making a prequel but you on the outside are privy to this information. Spoken like a true Snydra lol. I mean, why would you defend a film you haven't even seen? Anyways, Netflix doesn't care about rigged or gamed streaming numbers as long as the outcome is very beneficial to the company. Like every mega corporation, its motivation is purely revenue based. |

TV/Movies › Re: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by VerifiedStalin: 7:06pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
Kaycee7: Then apparently, most people who watched ZSJL liked what they saw. Nope, not the same thing. Shang-Chi is a theatrical release, rated PG-13, thus accessible to a very broad audience. Meanwhile, ZSJL didn't have a theatrical release, rated R, thereby limiting it to a specific demographic. Apples and orange, chief. The former is easily accessible and crafted to appeal to casuals and families, while the later is more of a niche product. Logically, ZSJL should be more susceptible to brigading, because the majority of audience share a common interest, as opposed to the much more varied audience of Shang-Chi, no? Kaycee7: Well seems those days are behind us. From ZSJL to The Suicide Squad, great audience reception. The dark days are far from over, but things have started to look up. Kaycee7: So Netflix brigaded the movie? Nope, Snyder fans brigaded the movie. |
TV/Movies › Re: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by VerifiedStalin: 5:46pm On Sep 11, 2021 |
Kaycee7: Lol! All the fanatics need to know is that it's an MCU property. All these unknown director and unknown lead star takes are irrelevant once you consider the production company. There's nothing preposterous about the idea of Shang Chi being brigaded. Marvel Studios has consistently churn out high grossing movies that the casual movie goer has come to associate the brand as a synonym to quality entertainment. If Shang-Chi is getting brigaded, then the blame should lie squarely with the casuals, cuz obviously they are loving what they see. In my experience, you don't upvote what you don't like. Kaycee7: If it was really very recurring, how is it that DCEU movies only have a handful of decently rated movies and fewer highly rated movies? In case you don't know this already, I'd like to point out that brigading is not exclusively an upvote thing, it's also a downvote thing. When a group of people that share a common interest converge to influence a vote negatively or positively, it's called brigading. Therefore, you're not asking the right question, You should be asking "What's the origin of the recurring brigading prevalent amongst DC fandom?" Long story short, the disharmony within the DCEU has divided fans into many subgroups, and often these subgroups fight each other. The poorly rated DCEU movies reflect the infighting going on within the DC fandom, and the disconnection between WB, DC, and fans. Kaycee7: If I seem to belong squarely to the Snydra subset, it's because man gets a lot of unfair criticism. Also does this Snydra fanbase only exist within DC? Why didn't they brigade Army of the Dead? Army of the Dead was brigaded. It's one of Netflix' most popular film, isn't it? In fact it's so popular that it's getting a prequel no one asked for. |
