Just read thru the whole thread. Predictably War of the Worlds fell victim. Maybe it's cuz I'm an SS fan & even if he uses nollywood actors I'll believe he knows what he's doing. JeSoul talked about The Happening. I liked the ending. Gaya taking matters into her own hands is something I've thought of before. Beautiful idea & it wasn't over done. I am Legend; I got issues with the film in general but the ending's one of its peaks, & tis even happy
TV/Movies › Re: ***~~~Good Movies With Stupid/terrible Endings~~~*** by vescucci(m): 9:56am On Apr 07, 2009
jk I read your post before seeing it was you but I just guessed right.

@post. I rarely have problems with endings cuz a good film really should have a good ending. In fact sometimes, that the sole thing that makes you think the movie was a good one after all, The Usual Suspects for e.g. I can't think of a bad film with a good ending either. People complain about A.I., I, Robot, War of the Worlds & even Cloverfield. I think they all ended great

Beowulf for top 20 u mean? I liked the film and all but I knew too much of the ancient poem to be swept away by the film. But it had one of the most banging endings I've seen in movies. Zemeckis surprised by making the film and surprised me again by pulling it off really well. You seen 13th Warrior, right, Spike? Another variation of the lore

You know I just noticed MadMax posted earlier. Her head go dey swell now. Anyway, if u like, read some of her posts when she goes religious. (Daniel Craig is not GOD! She's just playing) You could pick up some points about thinking for yourself.

I've totally lost the cool that makes me. I'm now a beast of sorts who doesn't require much prodding. A grouch with no fuse. Max, try not to implode with too much muffled glee
Christianity Etc › Re: I Spent 15 Months In My Mother’s Womb: T.b Joshua by vescucci(m): 5:35am On Apr 07, 2009
You don't actually believe in that 15 months gestation thingie do u. I know he doesn't 'stage manage miracles' or 'sow' unwanted 'seeds' but u can't possibly think a freak of nature incident like 6 months overtime in a womb translates to some sort of prophethood. Even imagination has elastic limit. I hate having to sweat it. There's someone called MadMax here. Nevermind her name but she's a good christian with genuine gray matter. Seek her out.
Islam › Re: Tabat . Ya Da . . by vescucci(m): 1:01am On Apr 07, 2009
God's word is God's word. Being overly sentimental like that isn't right. God isn't one to fake emotions to please his beings. He gets angry too. He punishes too. Inasmuch as his nature is forgiveness, he only forgives those who ask. People mistake that sura to be for cursing or something. But is it not self explanatory? Abu Lahab & his wife were evil-doers & the chapter was about them only. I rarely use d chapter but it's not cuz of its contents
Christianity Etc › Re: I Spent 15 Months In My Mother’s Womb: T.b Joshua by vescucci(m): 12:15am On Apr 07, 2009
Forget about whose church has a closer semblance to d real deal and which one is more charitable. The thread reads as it reads. I'm not a christian and I naturally steer clear of acting like I know more than its adherents but this is RICH. Even Jesus spent d good ol nine months. People need to watch National Geographic more. Whilst retaining d good sense not to turn atheist or agnostic of course
Foreign Affairs › Re: Madonna Baby Drama by vescucci(m): 12:00am On Apr 07, 2009
I like madonna, at least the madonna from before I was born, but from the things she says and does recently, either her brain is corroding like her talents or she's just the most condescending, elitist, racist bitch trying to buy our hearts with cheap tricks like adopting kids from malawi. Stick to kabala and retire or die like Monroe.

My word, I'm pissed.
TV/Movies › Re: Hollywood: Favourite Movies, Actors and Awards. Tinseltown reviews & Gossip by vescucci(m): 11:39pm On Apr 06, 2009
About iice being weird, the natural thing to say will be 'don't we all know it'. But I have a small advantage. Personally, until I see (or hear of) iice sitting naked and smoking weed in the centre of a pentagram drawn with a vampire's blood atop d sistine chapel I can't say she can surprise me anymore. Don't go doing that though, iice.

That said, I'm interested in karma/dereloaded/Thiefofhearts top twenty. Must be revealing.

If cats have nine lives, what do we call people with three or more nairaland ids? I read d posts from since last I was in here.

First thing I saw was Max talking like King Arthur. Gave me a jolly good laugh. A mirthful laugh as one dumb friend would say.

From there, I read someone's post, afterwards I have an idea what to reply then someone else steals my thunder. This happened three frigging times. Do we think alike in this thread?

Ok mordify the posts o. Hehe. Ice Cube? Megan Good? Tell me, you just looooooove Tyler Perry, right?

Ruthless People was great. I'd totally forgotten about it. What about the Big Kahuna?

I liked Madagascar 2. But only cuz of the penguins and King Julian. And the partay songs.

Never heard of Hush, Spiked.

I saw the Wrestler and How to lose friends and alienate people. Can't talk much now. Will rview them later

In a sec if they get too old. But most likely I'll hire maids and chaiwalas for em. grin
TV/Movies › Re: Blood Diamond ($$) by vescucci(m): 6:01pm On Apr 02, 2009
I'm sure someone pointed this out before but was this thread about a movie that is ancient history or about 'finding' diamonds in Nigeria. Brein, use your brain for once, stop taking Kanye's songs literally (there are deeper meanings) and stop watching films like COngo and Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Apparently, you think they're documentaries. Diamonds in Nigeria. Good luck grin

And what absolutely ticks me off is amputation of my 'nicky'. You're freaking staring at it. It's a freaking eight letter word. With c three frigging times. You see two capital letters in Karma's name and your brain went cuckoo. Dang. I feel I'm picking on u. Like I'm a bully. I pray, you at least get what I'm trying to connote here.

And as for 'your' thread and 'IVs' I'm truly and utterly stumped. I swear.

Ah, I don't vent like this often. Sorry Brein.

Max, maybe you should replace "love and plain admire" to "think are really good at acting"

Gran Torino is good o.

Not mind blowing but good enough to finish a cold drink with ur phone switched off

Someone is back from Illinois. Cuz of aure. Sauyeya makes the world round indeedy. Or rather people go round the world.

And blaming a toy company for sexless dolls. I couldn't father any of those thingies. Except if one of them is like Chucky. The one that looks like Pinocchio is surely Kay9's; as are the rest but that one is the one that exhibits a fatherly trait visible from birth. I'm wondering about the logic of showing up when the connection is terrible and disappearing when the connection's great. Internet connection I mean.

Anyways, I don't mean to interupt the sweet reunion but I thought there was a bout going on here. Move along people. Dudes are bashing their heads in. Either join in or go buy a drink and join me at table 7. Blaze, if u say anything patronising or fatherly I'll spill my zobo on u. Accidentally of course.
TV/Movies › Re: Does Anyone miss NTA Of The 80's? by vescucci(m): 4:47pm On Apr 02, 2009
But, but, I don dey when the infamous rainbow line thingie dey too. Sesame street is very fresh in my memory. I also remember Matlock (which I kinda liked a lot but in retrospect I wonder why a kid my age should have), Dr. Who used to scare the bejeesus outta me. Just the theme song and I'd be hugging the sofa. Not like I could peel my eyes off the TV. I admit, in later times I couldn't care less what was on local TV (My dad made me go through one hour of NTA news everyday though). My mum keeps on telling me I missed really good Television like it was back in her day. A common example (the only example really) is Village Headmaster. I don't know anything about this show. But you've gotta admit, I still try.
TV/Movies › Re: Hollywood: Favourite Movies, Actors and Awards. Tinseltown reviews & Gossip by vescucci(m): 4:01pm On Apr 02, 2009
I was reading Max's post and was wondering how come I've already posted. I swear a time came in the movie I thought it was finished. I was already complaining that Fletcher and his employer won't get killed? That's so unfair! You know the movie just sorta calmed down the way things calm down towards the end of a movie. Only this was the middle of the movie. Lucky I loved the beginning. I even started to think it was a comedic film. "Oh the kangaroos are so lovely, they're so beautiful" Kablam! "AAAHHH" And that kid. Boy, he's the main thing. I hope he talks like that in real life. I think Hugh was good as usual and Kidman pulled off a victorian woman pretty well. Until she turned cowgirl.

But asides all the positives, I don't think the story was worth all the trouble.

I saw Gran Torino too. Anybody seen that? It was thoroughly enjoyable. Easy-going hilarious film. Well, until the final third of the film where things got grotesque in a hurry.

Gonna check out the Wrestler later. I heard it's got fantastic soundtracks.

@Ced, You seeing the Shippuden? He's developed a whole new technique. He even used it to undo an Akatsuki shinobi. Wait, which thread is this? I couldn't help it.

@iice, there are 363 days to go till you're due for another dose. Hope I catch u unprepared again. tongue

Yeah, D, you must be the only one. Though I find it pretty hard picturing you going gaga over ANY actor. When youguys fight over these dudes, I wonder what I should be doing. Moderating? Anyways, I decide that iice has too many loffs. Relinquish some to Max and Spike. And on behalf of Karma, thanks, but no, thanks.
TV/Movies › Re: Hollywood directors: Rate or hate? What's your Take? by vescucci(op): 3:43pm On Apr 01, 2009
Not necessarily. As long as you passed out from sheer unadulterated bliss.

Ah, the list will be long o. There are some I've seen but'll like to own and some I haven't seen altogether.

To make the list short, I'd love

- Rashomon
- Casablanca
- Citizen Kane
- It's a Wonderful Life
- Seven Samurai

I won't feel comfortable going beyond these, for now grin

Sisi_jinx will probably go for another 3 months and pretend she never heard of Ariblaze's allegation. Triplets? Why, Sisi, I thought you hated men.

@Blaze, I'm just too sneaky (and cheeky) to be on the end of a flying jug. Especially one thrown by a raging drunk. Don't need to tell you they miss the mark more often than not.

I figure one or two more uppercuts from Kay9 will prompt Chamo to drop the barricades and unleash. Keep it up Kay, you're almost there. I'm not a warmonger but I don't separate fights. I look to see who'd win, from a safe location of course.
