FamilyRe: How Are Nigerian Weddings Funded? by vicade(m): 11:33am On Oct 09, 2012
At the end of the day it all boils down to planning. On the wedding day every youth in the family became an usher/wedding planner.

Using my sisters wedding as a case study.

The grooms family made a contriibution of a cow, paid for the brides wedding gown and made monetary contribution.

My mum as an isale eko woman got complete aso ebi for 30k and sold it for 55k. over 200 people on both d groom and brides side bought. I think there was another grade she bought for 7k and sold for 15k and people also bought that too. The only way I think that worked is cos she has also boought aso ebi for other peoples parties too.

My sister also had all this fine looking pink hats she sold for 4k. Think she sold about 50 of that to her friends and d single ladies who were gonna attend.

It was stated clearly and boldly on the IV that monetary gifts preferred. No one wants a neatly wrapped big cooler.

Both families also had envelopes from friends and family before d wedding and after d wedding the couple got some monetary gifts.

Finally, both groom and brides family and the couple themselves also have to spend their own money but the load wasn't too much and the wedding was super successful. Would have put pictures but that would be off topic.

That's my own case study.

Since you wanna go there, you might wanna do some research on how ojukwu died, how peter obi and bianca were busy playing politics with the Ikemba, how bianca was accepting political appointments when her husband was in his condition. You might also want to google how Uju Okonkwo has been mesmerizing biancas' bed even when Ojukwu was alive and also google the family relationship between uju okonkwo and ikemba.

Ojukwu and the Biafra elites ate well

The biafran soldiers intercepted the food meant for d biafran masses hence the blockade and I strongly believe there was evidence of malnutrition/kwashiorkor before the blockade.

Ojukwus forces invaded the midwest which was a neutral zone I.e. Overambition.

Ojukwu ran away when the heat was too much just like Idi Amin. I believe had ojukwu fought till the end,he could have become a martyr and just maybe the biafran nation would have survived. Ojukwu ran away like a cockroach.

The overall consequence of this is that Nigeria will never have an ibo president at least for the next 50 years thanks to Ojukwu .

Even if Leonard wants to quote natwest, he should have checked how the natwest boss handled the incident. I've posted below the response of the Natwest boss:

PA/The Huffington Post UK | June 23, 2012 12:21:55

Stephen Hester, the chief executive of NatWest owner RBS, has apologised for technical hitches which left customers unable to pay bills or access their money.

Announcing that the bank would open 1,200 branches nationwide tomorrow morning to clear a backlog of chaos caused by a problem with computer software, he said it had let down its customers.

Hundreds of customers have vented their frustration over the problems, with some finding payments had gone awry and others observing disappearing wages, or holidays and home purchases disrupted.

Account balances were not updated properly overnight, meaning credit and debit payments were not showing up as quickly as they should.

In a statement released tonight, Mr Hester said: "I am very sorry for the difficulties people are experiencing.

"Our customers rely on us day in and day out to get things right, and on this occasion we have let them down. This should not have happened.

"Right now my top priority, and the priority of the entire RBS Group, is to fix these problems and put things right for our customers.

"This is taking time, but I want to reassure people that we are working around the clock to resolve these problems as quickly as we are able."

Hester said that for the first time ever, NatWest would open 1,200 branches between 9am and noon tomorrow.

The bank said although the original technical glitch which caused the problems had been fixed it was working through the build up of transactions which had not been processed.

Concerns were raised over penalty charges, amid suggestions thousands of customers could be hit with fines if their regular household bill payments - including mortgages - are affected.

The issues extend to users of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Ulster Bank, which like NatWest are part of RBS Group.

Natwest emailed customers apologising for the inconvenience

Mr Hester added: "I also want to be clear that where our customers are facing hardship or difficulty we can and will help them.

"Our staff have already helped thousands of customers to access cash and we will continue to provide this service on a 24 hour basis while we work to resolve the problems.

"I also want to reassure customers that no one will be left permanently out of pocket as a result of this, and again, they should contact us directly about this.

"We have double the usual number of staff in our call centres, and for the first time ever we will open 1,200 branches across the country on a Sunday from 9am to 12pm.

"Once again I am very sorry for the inconvenience."

Sorry: RBS CEO Stephen Hester

In an email sent to customers earlier on Saturday, Natwest apologised and attempted to explain the problems:

"We apologise to all of our customers who have been affected by our current technical issues," it read.

"These resulted in money credited to customers accounts overnight not appearing in their balances as it should. This problem is strictly of a technical nature, we have fixed the initial problem and our priority has been to work round the clock to sort the backlog as soon as possible. "

I use the 4 cylinder EOD and its cool but maintenance costs o bad gan. I've also had cause to change d gear for about 165k. Other parts are also expensive. The fuel economy is fine

The eod is a classic design for me with lovely interior and exterior. But d maintenance compared to other cars I've used is relatively higher.

EducationRe: Is Unilag Any Better Than Covenant University? by vicade(m): 10:16pm On Feb 17, 2012
Unilag faculty of business admin is also known as the unilag business school as is the case in most nigerian unis and d faculty has undergraduate courses too.

Passing academic exams is one thing, applied knowledge is another. Covenant university is not even ten years old and I know their faculties are doing well based on the little I've seen and the facilities. Unilag is 50 years old. 5 decades.cos the system makes it more difficult to learn and pass dosent mean the system is better.Look at the alumni of babcock, covenant and bowen in the next 2 decades and u will be suprised. How many 50 years old unis are in africa ? Search and compare standards.Look for universities in africa that are 10 years old in africa and compare with covenant too in terms of facilities, research and quality of teaching. First class na wash though.
EducationRe: Is Unilag Any Better Than Covenant University? by vicade(m): 7:15pm On Feb 17, 2012
Story.

People in private unis et la babcock and covenant uni also get scholarships and great jobs too. I know some Phd holders who are 26 years old or less and are products of babcock and covenant.covenant just partnered with SAP in training. And babcock is making strides. Unilag is all name. I can speak for their business school and I must say unilags business school is crap. Total Crap. For me if you can afford it covenant is better. Unilag is all past glory. Old lecturers teaching syllabus of the last century with special focus on making it difficult for students to pass.

Nigerians get issues sha. Hotel Rwanada had don cheadle as lead cast and he aint fron rwanda. Last King of Scotland had forrest whittaker who is not ugandan play Idi Amin.Invictus had morgan freeman play nelson mandela and freeman aint south african. Hollywood is Hollywood. Big names make a difference and they will compel people in europe and americas to watch it. If you want genevieve nnaji or pete edochie to be in d movie its fine-Just go to alaba and seek for funds and make ur own nollywood movie. If u lucky ozone cinemas might show it.

I think all nigerian professors are lazy. They invent nothing. The innovate nothing. They blame the govt for everything. All the books they publish are remixes of foreign textbooks. In my field of management and IT, what innovation has been made by any of these Nigerian Professors? These are d same professors who make d system so difficult such that students focus solely on passing exams rather than obtaining applied knowledge that would help them in life. Forget jare, he without sin cast d first stone. Who is a man of God or a god of Men can only be known by GOD above.EOD

Sanusi is not the problem. He means well. PDP and their cohorts are the problem. Here is a government who has not funded university education and what does our president do? He creates 9 new universities out of the blue to please certain states. Now AASU is on strike. Is that wise ? I saw the SURE document and one of the projects is the East-West road started under obasanjo. Now you have the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC),Ministry of Niger Delta,Federal Ministry of works and now SURE on just one road ? What of the NEEDS and SEEDS program under obasanjo ? All the ministers in this cabinet are they sincere ? Sanusi is not gonna implement this projects mind you. Look if u remove the subsidy today, the corrupt people/cabal won't dissappear o, they will just move to another industry or find another loophole and continue ripping us off unless they are prosecuted.

I don't trust this government.11 years of democracy and my life has not really changed for d betteer. The government should meet us the people half way. Do something first to win d trust of people then remove the so called subsidy (that's even if it exists)

PoliticsRe: Breaking News: Fuel Subsidy Removed by vicade(m): 4:30pm On Jan 01, 2012
The economics sounds right. Subsidy will save the government money and investors will come in and build new refineries. The subsidy savings will be used for infrastructure and all that.

In Nigeria of today, this is d worst decision ever cos a new grade of povery has just been created. This government will do absolutely nothing. I believe the subsidy on diesel has been removed for years and what impact has it had on the masses really or infrastructure ?

If you don't know IMF supported SAP which was excellent on paper and we all know what happened with that.

As a Nigerian,I'm worried. Lekki toll gate,Lasu school fees, subsidy removal, boko haram, cashless lagos(another room for scam as we are not ready), insecurity etc.

All is well in 2012. All is well.

@beaf In naija, when costs go up, they rarely come down unless its seasonal like christmas. Secondly, when will these benefits start to be felt or seen ? 2020 perhaps ?
PoliticsRe: Post Debate Poll: Should Fuel Subsidy Be Removed? by vicade(m): 8:14pm On Dec 22, 2011
@beaf

I feel ur comments. I also believe the impact on the masses the removal of subsidy will have is underestimated. A whole new grade of poverty will be created and to make it worse, Government won't and I say affirmative won't do anything tangible with d savings.

With 1000 naira today, I can drive my car to most parts of lagos. Remove subsidy and I need 2200 to move around per day plus d damn lekki toll gatee plus land use charge plus tax plus nepa bill plus d local security watch fee and so on. You think there is crime ? Remove subsidy and when d government use d savings for private jets you will see crime as u have never seen before. Man must chop.

Bring d cabals to book first or else its a waste of time
