CelebritiesRe: Nollywood Actresses And Prostitution by vicade(m): 5:23pm On Apr 26, 2013
Omotola and Genevieve are nollywoods biggest? can you mention their last five movies ? how about their last 3 movies ?how much are they paid sef to live the lifestyle they live ? did you watch omotolas reality show ?

Then the Ebube Nwagbos,Tonto Dikes,Anita Joseph,Rukky Sanda and so on ? how much do they earn per movie ? these girls are rocking automobiles of over 5 million naira and above.

FUnke AKindele for me is the only Nigerian actress that has hustled her way to the top. Her Jenifa and The Return of Jenifa which she wrote and starred in was a big hit with the later spending over 2 months showing in Ozone cinemas.

Jarus: Best: Buhari

Worst: Abacha

Rating:

1, Buhari - discipline and fight against corruption
2, Murtala - discipline, decent economic policies
3, Yar'adua - reversal of pump price of petrol, declaration of asset etc
4, Obasanjo (civilian) - like him or hate, father of modernn Nigeria
5, Obasanjo (military)- handed over to civilian
6, Tafawa Balewa/Azikwe - build modest international diplomatic reputation for Nigeria
7, Gowon - avoided balkanization (now, I'm going to receive knocks for this)
8, Shagari - Good man, bad leader. Lacked balls to fight NPN hawks
9, Ironsi - not much
10,Shonekan - not much
11,Babangida - free for all corruption
12, Jonathan - free-for-all corruption, in-your-face actions
13, Abacha - Killed too many people, too brutal
I stand to be corrected but there has been more unsolved murders during the Obasanjo and PDP Led Government than the Abacha Government. Bola Ige and a whole host of others were murdered. Abacha Killed Saro wiwa and the Ogoni 8. Bad and Brutal as that was, Obasanjo wiped out the town of Odi.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odi_massacre About 2000 civilians were killed.

People have this bad perception about Abacha. Read this thread to get an alternative view of Abacha https://www.nairaland.com/823498/sani-abacha-honest-one-nigerias

Abacha built Gwarimpa Housing estate and appointed competent hands in various ministries. Even Buhari served under abacha as PTF Chairman. He created more states etc etc. Abacha is a lesser evil tongue
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Leaders: Past And Present; Your Best And Worst? by vicade(m): 12:47pm On Apr 25, 2013
Best:Abacha

Worst:Obasanjo

Hint:What Obasanjo and his cronies stole(And are still stealing) is more than the IBB and Abacha Regime put together.
PhonesRe: Saka MAGA DON PAY By Etisalat (Picture) by vicade(m): 6:39pm On Apr 24, 2013
MTN should take a bow for pulling this off.I even downloaded the advert on my phone.

I'm sure etisalat paid Banky W much more than they paid Saka who i believe was on contract from the ad agency that has the etisalat account.

This Saka guy has more brand value and is more likeable/valuable than even all the Glo Ambassadors put together.

"I don upgrade to MTN"-Technical Knockout toh Bad grin
PhonesRe: Mtn Disses Etisalat In Its Number Portability TV Commercial by vicade(m): 9:41am On Apr 23, 2013
Great coup by MTN. The advert is also catchy and Sakas dance moves makes sense.

Amazing how the green at the beginning took a dig at Glo/Etisalat. Airtel isn't seen as a major threat I suppose. Even if na to wear red shoes to represent them.

Nice one. Sakas brand value is greater than all the useless Glo Ambassadors combined. The Average consumer warms up to saka. Great move once again by MTN and I doubt if any other network can beat them for coverage so make una port to MTN .

Christianity EtcRe: Pastor Adeboye: A Jet is Necessary For God's Work by vicade(m): 8:19pm On Apr 13, 2013
The prosperity craze is also another factor.

Infact I once heard Pastor Sam Adeyemi say in a sermon talking about the early days of daystar that " he dreamt of a church where if people come and see the cars parked in the car park, they will give their lives to Christ and come to church"-a paraphrase.

It got me thinking if one goes to ogboni meeting and sees even bigger cars there, what happens then ?

In fact in the forbes richest people in the world, how many are christians ?

The focus is on prosperity rather than holiness which is a big problem in todays christian society.
Christianity EtcRe: Pastor Adeboye: A Jet is Necessary For God's Work by vicade(m): 8:12pm On Apr 13, 2013
The catholic church may have its issues but I respect them.

You need to see the massive hospital they built in Ijede,Ikorodu;St Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital. Very nice hospital and guess what, its highly affordable and well equipped too.

Infact I heard its cheaper to give birth in that hospital than in the Ikorodu General Hospital. I also understand that there are a lot more catholic hospitals in Lagos. The hospitals are open to the public mind you not just catholics.

I believe if Nigerian owned churches including RCCG can follow the catholic model and the model of the early missionaries of giving back to the society, things will be much better.
TV/MoviesRe: A Mile From Home - Nigerian Trailer by vicade(m): 2:17pm On Apr 10, 2013
sholay2011: Clap for yourself! You've spoken well...nonsense!
Nigerians are so good at criticising from afar but never getting their hands into doing something unique.
How can you say movies like 'Anchor baby', 'Ije' and co are rubbish? Seriously? Were you high when you logged in? As much as they may just be fair improvement compared to what Nollywood is known for, you don't rubbish ppl's sweat like someone who is battling with PARANOIA. grin
Milo Clap.

Plus they are crap cos I'm not comparing them to their fellow Nollywood "Crapees". I'm comparing them to Hollywood and Bollywood standard cos those movies are supposed to be the best Naija has to offer.

I'm sure you will agree with Nollywood making more historical movies and movies based on biographies and past incidents however crappy they may be
TV/MoviesRe: A Mile From Home - Nigerian Trailer by vicade(m): 1:58pm On Apr 10, 2013
The trailer isn't bad but I've seen better naija trailers that have turned out to be very poor movies.
Nollywood in my opinion should keep it simple and go back to the basics. All this over sabi hollywood movies wanna be is enough. Movies such as Ije,Two Brides and a Baby,Anchor Baby,Mirror Boy and even that dance movie with Ini edo, that movie about secondary school life and Aromatu are all crap if you ask me.

I suggest for starters Nollywood should start making historical movies and biographies about Nigerians and Nigeria.

Who's gonna make a movie about Life in the 60s,70s and 80s (Which are largely undocumented)Ogunde,Isaac Boro,Ahmadu Bello,Fela,MKO Abiola,Christopher Okigbo, awodele awojobi,Ojukwu,Awolowo,Mary Slessor,The Various Nigerian Coups,Even recent occurences such as the Odi masaccre . It took America to take the Fela story global via broadway;Americans telling the story of one of our own.

Its bad enough most Nigerians don't know much about their history. Its even worse Nollywood isn't doing anything about it. The worst even is that Nollywood can't do fiction cos the producer is probably d director/writer/script writer and actor. No specialisation or professionalism.
PoliticsRe: Sam Omatseye, Under-Fire For Column On Achebe by vicade(m): 3:24pm On Apr 08, 2013
EMMA BC: A typical yoruba character epitomized by their god Awolowo. What is this age- long character? To envy the sucess of other people, pull them down by any means and then benefit criminally from their hard work. Sam, if u don't like Achebe's story, then write ur own.
Sam Omatseye is an Itsekiri Man not a Yoruba man

I think achebe and soyinka are both great writers. Using the Nobel Prize to exert the greatness one has over the other is just naïve.

Arrow of God by Achebe and The Road by Soyinka are the best ever in my opinion.

Tragic

Jesse Jagz was the best rapper and producer in choc city. Sad they didnt push him the way they did MI and ICE PRINCE.

If you listened to his last album,Jag of all Trades, you will understand this guy is supreme talent. I think he has the same problem as sound sultan, both are talented but dont have the acceptability among youths of today for reasons i dont know. Sound Sultans last album,Back from the Future was also a classic. Guess it as an image problem rather than a talent problem.

Tragic once again. I hope he does well on his own. Jargo,Wetin Dey, Nobody Test me,My brother and so on were just too good. That album was dropped in 2010 by d way. 3 years ago.

By the way, the Mrs Prosper that got rewarded for being "Pure" for getting married as a virgin is another way the original poster makes a little mess of his opinion.

If I was Governor Orji I would have put her through a lie detector test first:

1. Has she ever done behind based sex ?
2.Has she ever been kissed ?
3.Has she ever been fondled ?
4.Has she ever touched her self ?

You see, if you wanna go down the Moral ladder, we can always go to the deepest level there is.
CelebritiesRe: Lest We Immortalize Nuisance …the “goldie” Situation. by vicade(m): 1:25pm On Feb 21, 2013
Key thing:Nuisance is Relative. It might not meet up to your moral/religious conduct but as long as its not illegal its acceptable et la Kim Kardashian.

Discussing this with a colleague at work and he argues that The Late MKO Abiola is a big nuisance because he sponsored coups and also embezzled a lot of money via the ITT(As made famous by Fela). He even argues Abiola is one of Nigerias greatest and most corrupt individuals.

On the other hand, Some Nigerians see MKO Abiola as the "Dangote" of his day and a very great philanthropist.

Goldie might not have lived up to the posters Religious/Moral standards but we all have our individual standards and as long as she didn't do anything illegal which would be bound by law which we all uphold,She deserves to be immortalized by those who deem it fit including Myself and Dr Kayode Fayemi.

We debate to learn and all said and done we can always agree to disagree.

Sagamite: You have to get it in your head that it is one thing to frown at indecency in you society and a completely different thing to engage in indecency in your personal time.

This your statement is as silly as saying "Oh, if you watch por-n, why are you offended por-n is shown to your kids in nursery school. You are just a hypocrite jor!".

Democracy! Freedom of speech! *I spit on both*
Wow. Speechless.
CelebritiesRe: Lest We Immortalize Nuisance …the “goldie” Situation. by vicade(m): 12:46pm On Feb 21, 2013
Is there a global standard for nuisance ? Cos I'm thinking the original poster is a nuisance in my view same way I think Kim Kardashian is a nuisance but I don't think her over 16 million followers on twitter and many more that watch her show think the same.

Goldie was a good musical artist with hit singles such as Jawo Jawo,Say my Name,Don't touch my body and Skibobo. Her music videos were really good and I like her songs. Maybe Dr Kayode Fayemi does too.

The Original Poster is just being overly self righteous. Goldie could sing and she had great videos.

Its people like the original poster that will frown against indecent exposure and yet watch porn or patronize a love peddler by the side.

What's a nuisance to you may not be a nuisance to me. Its a free world not a communist society.
WebmastersRe: Nairaland Is The Most Visited Website In Africa... by vicade(m): 10:15am On Feb 20, 2013
Good News. Nairaland is the most visited African website in Africa.

Bought my car in Nairaland, My brother bought his on Nairaland,The dude that registered my company;I met him on Nairaland,I've also done business on Nairaland.

Yesterday I was searching for airtel codes, I checked Nairaland before airtels website. Didn't need to go to airtels website.

Nowadays if I'm searching for something online, I just add nairaland to the keyword(s).

Its a great site and how can you do without the thread derailers ? They make it more fun et la Garri and First.

BusinessRe: Is Mocality Really Closing Down? Why? by vicade(m): 9:17am On Feb 16, 2013
Its sad Mocality is gone and I hope Deal Dey won't be next.

Lowering overheads is the only way. I once asked a friend why an online business would like to have a mansion office in Lekki ?

Why not have a 2 room office in Lekki for customer facing activities and have the mansion office/warehouse in Ikorodu/Sango or some where else cheaper ?

Konga and Jumia also had some serious funding but I doubt they will survive if their overheads are high and advert costs continue to spiral without increasing patronage. Same with Jobberman.

All in All,Internet penetration is quite low in Naija. You can force us to sign up, you can't force us to use your service. How many of Nairalands 1,000,000 signed up users are unique and how many of them are active ?

Watch out for the Mobile Money Market. Its gonna crash very very soon.
