TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice:
FrontPageLawyer: Good morning Oga Justwise and Vicjustice.

As a company owner, do I need to write self introduction letter?

Is it compulsory I prepare a pay slip for myself?

Should I also write outlining my reason for wishing to visit UK and what I will do in the UK?,

Should I write undertaking in a separate letter head that I will observe the conditions of my visa and return back to family and business, especially to my new contract with two reputable companies.

I have my company tax clearance certificate from the federal government, do I also need my personal income tax certificate from Lagos state?

I'm using two different bank statements, current and domiciliary. I am not including my company's account as it was recently opened 3Months ago. I have a business I just did with a reputable company and payment has been made by bank cheque which was deposited into the company's account. can I include the account statement or get a letter from the bank confirming the existence of the account.

Both my current and domiciliary accouts have been running for two years with good inflow and outflow, but they are personal savings and withdrawals as I do door to door delivery of petroleum products and its cash payment on delivery. This is before the company was incorporaed this year. This is where the real problem is. What do I do about this one?

Thank you
I like to answer your questions in their orders.
1) It is not necessary to write a "self introduction letter", the company's paperworks are sufficient to tell who you are.
2) If you are on salaries or wages, then payslips may be required otherwise, your bank statements alone can do it.
3) Writing a (seperate) letter to outline the reason(s) for wishing to travel is not necessary, you don't want to give them unnecessary details that would stir up reasons for more questions.
4) Writing an undertaking in a separate letter head that you will observe the conditions of the visa is not a particularly good idea, it is actually condescending to yourself: there are terms and conditions that you will have to sign at the end of the form.
5) Talking about tax certificate, as a company owner, you should have both the company's tax certificate as a proof of legitimacy as well as your personal tax certificate as a proof of revenue compliance.

staa: Good day house..i was advsed to seek expert opinion on this thread, would really appreciate if i can get one...
I applied for a UK visa in 2010 as a petty trader before i started working but i was refused because i didnt have a tax clearance, registration of biz n all that..i didnt bother reapplying because it was just a try ur luck thin and i wassnt ready to register any biz for visa purpose. however i got a job the following month with a total annual emolument of over 4million naira..Prior to 2010 refusal have been to Dubai,SA,and some african countries like 5tyms den afterwards i went to SA and Dubai once each...I decided to apply this year for my annual leave but got a refusal. It was so surprising because they had no issue with my finances. they simply said u claim u work with...... and earn ....,you have no family commiment,u propose to travel alone as a tourist and stay at a hotel, you state u have no friends in d UK. Given the statements you made and documentary evidence. i am not satisfied that your circumstance in nigeria are as shown your intentions bla bla bla.. pls sm1 help me out as i intend to reapply, was i refused because am single
You can't be refused a visa on the ground that you are single, many single people get their visas on daily basis.
Perhaps the problem here is your tie, maybe you did not demonstrate that you have a reason to return to Nigeria?
Well, whatever reason it may be, it is reasonable to understand that some Visa Officers are sadists, they just enjoy to see people frustrated by the power of their decisions.
Since you have not given enough details to work with, i'm only using this economical information that you provided...

bokohaman: @OP...I have been following this thread for a while now and I must really commend u guys for a job welldone. I have a problem and I want u guys to help me by telling me how to go about it. My elder sister obtained her american citizenship through the american visa lottery and she later filed for my parents and fortunately for them they were granted american citizenship as well. All my siblings are abroad and my parents are pensioners and aged. My mum can't leave Nigeria for now due to the processing of her gratuity and my dad needs to travel for an eye treatment. I'm the only one available to take him there since he can't travel alone due to his sight problem. My question is how do I go about it considering the fact that my parents are american citizens. I will be glad if u guys can put me through this...thanks and God bless u.
If you intend to be your aged father's guide on an intercontinental trip, then it is reasonable for me to expect that you are an adult, and therefore, your parents American citizenship do not have any benefit to influence your chance of getting an American visa of any category: you need to independently meet the conditions that fulfill the requirements amongst which are the availability of employment, ties and financial capability.
Do not expect the embassy to show you understanding or to have pity or mercy in consideration of your father's condition, they are not there to show mercy but to administer the rules and execute judgement without mercy.

Your challenge is to satisfy the Visa Officer of your intention to return to Nigeria, if you can't do that, then you would be wasting your time and money

dizzyk: Ok, thanks brother,I really appreciate your responses and learning, honestly cant remember if they suspected it was fake, the only reason for my fear is that am now supposed to present my real wedding certificate which is totally different from the fake I used in the past, just wondering how I explain out the two even though was not asked.
Thanks again...
I got it.
Well, it is still the best thing to do: you need to come clean even if they didn't find out because your real marriage certificate will be a dead giveaway to your your past fraud.
There will be no valid punishment for confessing that fraud after 10 years, but you risk getting a fresh 10 years ban if you try to hide it
TravelRe: Main Reasons Many Are Refused Visas by Vicjustice(op): 5:33pm On Jun 25, 2013
dizzyk: Thanks my brother, my 2003 Application was submitted in August, that means by this August it will be 10 years, how soon can I apply, moreover do I need to make reference to that fake marriage certificate, or I should just keep silence on it if I have to apply....thanks ahead of your response
You can apply at any time provided the 10 years has expired.
By default, you will have to state your travel history as well as your visa application record, so there should be something to say about the reason previous visa was refused, you don't want to look for more troubles by withholding such information
Thank you VicJustice, I'm heading to Turks and Caicos. Planning to spend 2-3 months there.
So, which one will I be needing, Transit visa through UK or Visiting Visa.
Thanks.

VicJustice, pls yu skipped my post @ d previous page. Thanks
Like with many of these tiny Caribbean Islands, visa is not normally required for Nigerian passport holders who have something reasonable to do in there, yet, entry can not be guaranteed
TravelRe: Main Reasons Many Are Refused Visas by Vicjustice(op):
dizzyk: Good day guys, have read a lot about your advises and think it' Ok for me to seek for one.
I applied for UK visa in August 2003, I was refused on ground that the training date I was going for was already past, cant remember other reasons.
My concern now is this, I have since not applied for UK visa because I knew the wedding certificate presented then was FAKE (I quoted the date of my traditional introduction which was in May), though I got legally married same year in November.
In the last five years, I have been to few countries (China,US, South Africa, Germany,Spain,France, Netherland all these severally except US which was once), economically too I have had tremendous leap, run my own business on 300K a month.
I have factory producing water (table),have a property worth 15million, another under construction, have another business doing a turn over of average of 30million per anumn.
Am married with kids and we have done family trips to SA & Paris and other cities of Schenghen.
My question is this: Will they not visit my sin of fake document of 2003 on me, as honestly speaking the only country of repute in Europe I have not visited is UK and I want to go....candid advise needed.
The ban system was not in effect by then, but however, (as long as the offence is earlier than 10 years), it will still take effect from the day that you apply for a visa.
It is a good thing that you have come to seek advice here, by that, you have saved yourself a huge trouble (had you applied for a visa before the 10 years elapse).
My advice, just wait for ten 10 years to elapse and then you can do the application.
Be honest enough to admit your past errors and blame it on naivity, you should be fine.

justwise: Then again if she works for a company it sounds questionable that she is funding the conference rather than the company.
Exactly, i didn't even pay attention to that aspect, the application is badly packaged, it could have been done better.

Dear chomiq3
Forget about going to see your fiance or attending a company conference, just study some areas of Interest in the UK, book a hotel in a reasonable location and apply for a tourist visa. You would be better off this way
TravelRe: Main Reasons Many Are Refused Visas by Vicjustice(op): 12:47pm On Jun 25, 2013
chomiq3: Hi guys I need your advise. Am devastated, I was refused a Uk visiting visa for the second time today. To attend a career conference, cos I also wanted to use the opportunity to reunite with my fiance whom I saw last in 2005 as coppers. And we have fixed a church wedding in Oct and come back to Nigeria for the court marriage. There after I'l stay back to apply for a settlement visa. Please what do I do now if he invites me since I stated I know him in UK will it affect me? Or if he comes down to Nigeria will they issue me a spouse/settlement visa?
I had 1.4m in the account.

Here is the Refusal letter

In other to be able to make a decision on whether or not to grant u entry clearance in this category. I have taken into account your stated circumstance in nigeria, the reasons for your visit and your proposed travel arrangements. You stated dat u earn 200k per month as a Project Administrator and that that this trip will cost you £1600. This expenditure is high, when considering ur economic circumstances in Nigeria, given the statements you have made and the documentary evidence you have made presented to support your application. I am not satisfied that your circumstances in nigeria, coupled with your reasons for wishing to travel to the uk are such you have shown that your intentions are as stated or dat u intend to leave the uk at d end of ur proposed visit. I am therefore not satisfied that your application meets the requirements of paragraph 41 of immigration rules.

I have therefore refused your applicatioon because I am not satisfied. On the balances of probabilities, that you meet all of the requirements of the relevant paragraph of uk immigration rules.
Thank you All.
I'm not sure that the ECO was reasonable in judging that a person who earns N200K in Nigeria does not have a satisfying financial circumstance unless of course your bank statement is questionable. But however, the Visa Officer was right in denying you the visa for reason of the threat that you pose to the UK immigration as you stated in the highlighted text above.

Finally, I hope you have not made a mistake of involving your "fiance" in your application otherwise, how can you justify the lengthy period of your lack of (physical) contact with a person that you claim to be your fiance, or you think 8 years is a joke?

opsy4real1: hello to you all on this thread...I need experienced people in the house to profer meaningful advice toward re-applying for a u.k tourist visa anytime frm now after 6years i was denied. I was denied twice actualy of student visas in 2007 and 2008 respectively. In 2006, my refusal was based on d fact that they doubt d genuinety of my sponsor's statement of account and that funding my education wud impose an additional financial burden upon him and that they r not satisfied that the increased financial outlay is commensurate with his current economic circumstances and that such funds wud actualy be available to me in da u.k. . Second time around i reapplied in 2008 and again denied on the ground that 'i was unemployed and i already have a degree from 2006 and yet i av failed to secure any employment and i have failed to submit any evidence of my own financial circumstances. in an overall assesment of d credibility of the application, they r nt satisfied the cost of the study is proportionate to my current economic circumstances or that there are advantages i might derive frm dis course of study. I am nt satisfied, on d balance of probabilities that i intend to follow d course. It further stated that my application also falls to be refused unda paragraph 320(7A) of d immigration rules:where false representations av been made or false documents have been submitted(whether or not material to d applicaton, and whether or not to d applicant's knowledge) or material facts av not been disclosed in relation to d application. You state dat d cost of ur tuition.maintenance and accomodation is to be borne by ur uncle mr. Bleep. As evidence of his means u av submitted 2 vehicle proof of ownershp certificates. As a result of checks made by this office i am satisfied to a high degree of probability that this document is nt genuine and the production of such documents undermines d credibility of my applicatn and causes me to doubt ur intentions in the u.k..(this is my story) Now i am self employed afta workin for a company for 2 yrs btw 2010 and 2012. I registered my biz in jan 2013(abt 7months ago) and now I av a vry gud income and bank balance..i av traveled to 4 countries within last 2 yrs. Now i plan to apply for a u.k tourist visa. Wat r my chances as per my previous applicatns wit dem?
Even if the foul was committed before the ban system came into effect, you will still get the ban the very moment that you apply for a visa, and even after serving the 10 years, you may still be asked to explain what actually took place

Dear Vicjustice, once again thanks for your response. Do you think its just easier n straightforward that my child and I applied for a visit visa instead of the family visit and we just book an hotel but I hope from uk embassy records that it does show dat my bf who is my baby dad still presently in the uk. As I ave my sons birth certificate whIch shows it was issued in d uk and his bf record as well. Thank you
Though you are entitled to apply for either the Family Visit or the Tourist visa, but bear in mind that your boyfriend (being the biological but unofficial father of the child) can not influence the outcome of the application, especially as he does not seem to be meeting the requirements.
justwise: What is the different between the process of applying for family visiting visa and visitor's visa?

Banty D: Thank you so much for your time, I'm grateful. I need to know if its alright to go ahead with the spouse visa application and attach a comprehensive supporting statement "in great details" in previous applications with materials to prove the authenticity of our marriage, cos another supposed "quack agent" said to me that I'll have to get a lawyer to overturn the ban in a UK court before reapplying. Please kindly help straighten out this part of my dilemma.
YOU DO NOT NEED A LAWYER OR ANY SILLY AGENT because, there is no lawyer or "agent" that can help you in this matter, only the credibility of your marriage and the requirements that your spouse has to meet MAY redeem you from the 10 years ban

sola21: Dear just wise, I have been following up on your advice and responses to people. Pls I need your advice based on uk visa. I started getting uk visas since 2002 from 6 mths visa to 2 years twice and in the year 2007 I went to study a post graduate diploma in a particular course whose duration was 18 mths including internship. I got 2 years student visa from Nigeria then after the completion of the postgraduate I plied for a masters degree in the uk and came back to Nigeria to get another student visa in 2009 . During my masters , I had a child in 2010 with my boyfriend who was also doing his masters in uk. Though he started his masters 4 mths after I had started mine. After the completion of my masters I got a post study work permit which started from march 2011 till 2013' my child also got the dependent . In January 2012 I came job hunting in Nigeria and I got a job in April so travelled to uk with my child on the psw to shop and we spent 3 weeks as the father of my son was already on psw and was working then we returned and travelled again with my child in oct 2012 and we spent almost 3 was again. I also made another trip to the uk again in jan 2013 with the psw though spent a week. The psw expired in march 2013'. The point now is I want to apply for a visiting visa with my child but don't knw if I should apply for a visitors visa but remember I said my boyfriend the father of my child is still on psw in the uk and his expired in niv2013 or is it family visitor. Also as nth parents name are on our child's birth certificate . Also I work in nigerianand I presently have 1.5 million in my current acct.i can get a letter from my office etc. another question is would the consular officer raise a brow on the times I used the psw and times I stayed in Nigeria and would they request why I was still using it when I already got a job in Nigeria. Also is it better to apply for a visitor visa with my son even if they knw hisnfathernis on psw there to expire in November. Pls I would very much appreciate your advice. Thnk you
Yes, you can apply for family visit if there is available evidence that your boyfriend in the UK is indeed the biological father of the child, but in the absence of such evidence, it would be more difficult to prove the paternity than to apply for a tourist visa: either way, it is important to bear in mind that your boyfriend (being in the UK with PWS visa) does not add much advantage to your applications especially as he does not have a conducive accommodation for you

These laminated certificates are only good for personal preservation, they are no longer good for tender or official presentations.
If only you knew how lamination works, you would know that it is impossible to peel off the foil without ripping the documents themselves.
Go and apply for reissue of the documents involved, and present them together with the laminated ones (to substantiate the reason as to why your every certificate is very recently retrieved)

Your husband's application and yours are two different applications even though you are applying together and intend to travel together: therefore, each application would be treated in its own merit.
While it is allowed for either of you to be financially responsible for the other, you can not use his occupational clearance for yourself, you need to meet the requirements as well by providing your own clearance
