expertman: Lol. Whats in Greece? Nigeria is better than greece jorYou must be talking about grease, and not the Greece of Athens |
osaass: Too much of anything is almost always a disaster. Think about it?Too much of something good NEVER turns someone to become a bad person |
osaass: Good one lafflaff123You mean, Islam is a very good thing, but those who become extreme of the good religion turn bad? I'm just wondering how the extreme of a good thing become bad? |

boyestic: i was turned back at dfw aiport on the grounds that my nigerian passport has expired hence, united airline refused to air lift me and ever since have been calling nigerian consulate in new york to know the needed documents for me to get an emergency travelling certificate but no one is picking, please if any one knows what am to present to get the nigerian emergency travelling certificate, pls list it.That is the main (if not the only obstacle) that one may encounter when travelling with expired passport; airline staff not letting you get a boarding pass: immigration officers do not have any problem with that |
cometozizo: Hi NLanders,None of your given circumstances meet the requirement for a tourist/visit visa; your salary is barely £200 in a whole month, and your savings are not satisfying: how much would be left after paying the visa application and other associating costs, and also after paying for flight tickets? Besides, there is the money lodgement? |
tamica8: Hello House.. @vicjustice @justwise Is there any development at the UK entry clearance in heathrow or Any recent information people traveling to the U.K this week/month should be aware of?None that i'm aware of at the moment |
ty01: Lol, yes I am the sponsor. My gross monthly salary is in the neighbourhood of 500k, to the glory of God and I have enough funds to cater for all us in UK for two weeks. I was only trying to ensure that we boost our chances by also including some documents from my wife. I guess I will just limit the documents to her bank statement only. I am delighted reading your comment. Thank youShe is not even required to provide her bank statement, all she needs is a legal proof that she is your legal spouse: her birth certificate or age declaration document; marriage certificate and her post-marital passport. NOTHING more is required of her |
ty01: @ Vicjustice: No qualms at all. I do appreciate your efforts on this forum and I have realy learnt from the information on this site. I guess my wife's landed property, our kids and of course myself could also suffice as a tie. I could sense from your comment that you do not think our application will be successful given my wife's current circumstance, but we may still give it a trial. Will keep you updated as things unfold. Thank you.Wait a minute! Did you say that you are sponsoring the trip? If so, your wife does not need anything from her side, she is elligibly covered under your full sponsorship even if she doesn't have a job of her own: i gave that advice based on my assumption that you intend to use your wife's job as a proof of home time or obligation |
cometozizo: Hi Vichonest,None of your given circumstances meet the requirement for a tourist/visit visa; your salary is barely £200 in a whole month, and your savings are not satisfying: how much would be left after paying the visa application and other associating costs, and also after paying for flight tickets? otunbaneyo09: @vicjustice,bro you are doing a very good job.please my case is this, I want to apply for uk visa and I want you to advise on visa I should apply for . Firstly I'm a contract. own a registered bussines name company under C.A.C .now have been planing to travel to UK for atleast 5months because I have contract at hand that it will commence in the next seven months please what visa should I apply for ? And moreover the money I used to run my account are for my client project becuase I'm into building .please advice me sir .Tourist/Visit visa. |
ty01: Mr Vicjustice, thanks for your response, however you may not be correct by saying that I am seeking ways on how to manipulate the situation and maneuvre my ways. My wife got the offer TODAY and had to turn in her resignation same day! Meanwhile, we have been planning for the trip since december last year. I do not see anything wrong in seeking opinion on how best to go about the situation. I have already told my wife that we may have to differ the trip till december this year, but i was just asking if there are any other LEGITIMATE way(s) of dealing with the issue especially because I am the sole sponsor for the trip and as such my wife's resignation should not put our plan to a halt. Going to the UK is not a do-or-die affair for me, I was in London in September and my visa just expired last month. Not all nigerians are manipulators and 'maneuvres'! I am open to wise advise... Thank you"Manipulating or maneuvering" does not necessarily imply illegality, it simply means to manage or handle with skills or smart arts. Please, kindly look that up in the dictionary and understand that i wasn't intending to slander your person. Note: I did carefully read your explanation and i considered your wife's circumstances before commenting, and i was honest enough to tell you my mind based on what i know is the rule. Be advised that for a job to be used as a tie or an obligation, you have to be in the same employment for more than 12 calender months because, such is the window period to be legally secured in a job: you can not use such job (in which you are under probation) as a proof of obligation or home tie |
ty01: Hello everybody, you people are doing a great job and I have learnt a lot form this forum I must confess! This is the kind of mindset that gets people into trouble or into undesired and unfavourable situations. You know fully well that your wife's circumstances are not appropriate for your desired travel intention, and instead of letting it go and doing it at the right time, you are seeking ways on how to manipulate the situation and maneuvre your ways. Things are easier when done orderly. |
mandee8223: pls i need an urgent response, especially from the good brother @justwise. i applied for a student visa to canada in 2008 and i was refused visa based on the ground that i didnt sufficiently convince them that i would return to nigeria after my study; i had lots of family members there, so i got a refund of my school fees and forgot about the trip since i had no right to an appeal. got married in 2010 and after my wedding, i and my husband trying going for honeymoon in us but was refused visa againWhat exactly is your query now? |
Asorock 1: Hello Good morning everyone...I have been following this forum for quite sometime now, I must say u guys are doing a great job most special thanks to u Vicjustice , keep it up...please I need a reply on this;It is not unusual for visa officer to see cases of cash-to-hand method of payment in Nigeria, this system is considered as corruption. Now, the big question is: do you get pay slips for those salaries/wages, if not, how are you going to prove to the visa officer that your income is as claimed, and how do you pay taxes off unverified incomes? You can see that there is no paper work regarding your income, so, i like to discourage you from applying for the visa until you sort this out |
Americanvisa: @vicjustice,please what will be your advice here,my wife want to pursue a 1.5 years course in Australia and she want to include me in the application, now for the first year will cost 37000AUD for both of us,but the money in my account is 35000AUD,so her place of work decided to act as the co sponsor like granting her some monthly stipend throughout her stay and promised to provide to us any document necessary,i know that using company statement of account is not usually good but please advice me.Thank youYou've just answered your own question, "using company's statement of account is usually not good". Be advised that even if you have the complete money, the visa officer will not consider you (couple) as deserving to be issued the visa for fear of financial difficulties that may compel you to resort into a desperate battle for sustainability and survival once in the country |
philipin7: What suggestions do you have. The lump sum was deposited a long time ago and I have been saving the money that's why my account deposit is high. Also I normally receive money from my husband through western union money transfer. I have been working since 2009 so I can save.If the lump sum is over 6 months time, then it would not have negative effect on your application since you're going to print an account statement that won't show it. |
koolmd: Hello Vicjustice and others in the house...I applied for a TRV to canada for 8 day vacation but was refused today. The only reason ticked by the Visa officer is ..PURPOSE of my intended stay. I attached my intended itenerary and every other documentation. I think i have a good travel history as well as my last vacation in Nov. 2012 was spent in The Netherlands and France. What can i do now as i genuinely wanted to go on the vacation and am dissapointed that my visa application was refused.I don't think your Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) application was refused because the visa officer thought you do not have a good travel history, but because the officer is not satisfied that your given purpose of visit holds enough water. Perhaps you meet every other requirement, but if the purpose of your intended visit does not seem to be a valid reason to apply for the TRV, you may still be refused. Knowing that applying for a visa is not just for anyone who will or anyone who desires but for those who have valid reasons to travel, i recommend that you make a good travel plan by studying the areas that you wish to give as places of your interest and make reasonable arrangements of how you intend to spend your time and the activities that you will be engaged in during your stay: if you can explain these to the visa officer, you would be approved. |
shessyfavour: Hello Justwise and Vicjustice i need your advice concerning my situation.Your subsequent (four) applications had been refused due to that first reason? Well, this is more or less a sign that a regulation had been placed on you. I will not be surprised if you have been banned in silence as it is their preferred custom to ban unsuspecting people without notice: But why isn't your "solicitor" concerned about this possibility? By the way, it is not altogether illegal to stay in the UK for longer than "two months", but unexplainable lengthy periods spent on a single trip as a tourist visitor may cause immigration or visa officers to doubt your purposes. Be aware that it is not only those who used false or fake documents that are banned from the UK: if you gave misinformation about your intentions or you breach the conditions attached to your entry to the UK, you may face the dreaded 10 years ban as well. Bear in mind that you might have been issued the visa due to your declaration to stay 7 days, which means that your application might not have been successful had you declared your true intended period of stay. Read more here: http://overseaschachi.com/documents/Ukvisitvisa.pdf Suggestion: As the application fee does not seem to be a problem to you, i advice you to resolve the money-lodgement issues with valid proof of income and then, you may want to apply again one more time, and if unsuccessful, then demand to know your status with them (you can't normally inquire to know your status if you are not making fresh application or if you are not collecting your application result) |
d jay: Hello vic pls I have a personal and urgent issue that I would need your insight I would apprt it if I can communicate to you directly.Hello. I did see your email address before your post got edited. Justwise is correct about the purposes of this thread: remember, the original post says: "your questions or contributions or concerns are welcome here" |

Princessjo: Pls I want to know how to apply for the Police clearance Certificate , Moreover I need it for myself and for my husband but the challenge is that I am pregnant and don't want to travel from Jos to lagos for just Police clearance. Will it be possible for my husband to get it for me without my being at Lagos physically? If yes pls advise me on what to do cos it will be a huge relief. This is impossible in any normal country, but in Nigeria, all things are possible |
vitodorado: Hi vicjustice,With due respect, i don't think that your cousin needs me to advice him on his next steps, he has bags of experience with successful multiple visa applications: he just needs to remember not to take the rules and the requirements for granted as every application is treated in its own merit |
gabrieli: Hi, i have read through this n must confess it is very educative. Pls, i need proper guidance on my next application to france embassy in lagos.Family Visit Visa is not categorised for those travelling with family, but for those travelling to visit their family (members) already in the country: but the persons that you intend to visit is your "friend", so you are not qualified for that category. gabrieli: 2. bank statement of account- my wife and i both have healthy bank accounts separately. but, apart from my monthly salary going into my acct, i have other sources of money lodgement from third party regularly because i hold power of anthoney over my sister's house (rent payment by tenants) and i ship in cars for clients once in a while. pls, what can i do so that they will not see this 3rd party payments as money lodgementsProvide documentary evidence of the funds |
omabroowniee: U don't have to,ur passport is already valid, just make sure to include all marriage papers and documents. Are you saying this out of assumption or presumption? Well, although marriage does not necessarily mean a change of surname, but in the event that you signed a declaration effecting the change of surname, then every applicable credential needs to be updated, and that includes your passport: You are required to update your passport to bear your current surname and not your maiden family name: therefore, in the presence of such surname declaration, her current passport (bearing her maiden family name) is invalid even if it has not yet expired |
amykelly: Hi All I need to get some advice for an ex colleague of mine. She got married in Dec, 2011 to a British Citizen but did not apply for a spouse visa immediately because she got pregnant and had not written the TOEFL. I advised her to apply immediately and use her Bachelors degree as proof of English but i didnt see her for a while and the next time i saw her she was heavily pregnant. Last year she went to renew her UK visa and filled single out of negligence and because she thought she had to change her name to fill married so her visa was revewed for 2 years. Just last month she tried applying for her daughter and this time filled in married and attached her marriage certificate but the embassy picked on the change of status immediately and called her for an interview. they asked her why she filled single when she was renewing and she told the truth that her marriage certificate wasnt close to her thats why she negligently filled single but she travelled to get her marriage certificate thats why she had filled in the correct status. The lady didnt believe her and cancelled her visa and also gave her a 10 years ban.Even if the ban might not directly apply to settlement visa, but the reason for it can not be undermined and as a result, the credibility of her marriage is in jeopardy: It will be very difficult for her to get through |
philipin7: Hi ELDERLAGON,It will be difficult to "correct the mess" since your financial circumstances are not such that meet a visa requirement. |
headna007: @Vicjustic 10ks 4d reply, so pls lead me through d chances of attaining d possibilityNot until you lead me through the chances of forming a river in a desert |
headna007: Hi Justwise and Vicjustice and all the Nairalanders, pls I need ur urgent reply am a salary earner wit a monthly income of 140k. My leave period is approaching nd a frnd of my in UK want me to com and spend a week with him there in Uk which he is ready to sponsored the whole trip, pls I need u guys to tell me wat nd wat to do for d visa progress because I always withdraw d whole income from d salary account for some other personal businesses nd he is sending his statement of account that cover the whole things wit other document which am going to add wit my owN document too for the proceSs which will exclude my own statment cos I don't hav much in it.pls will only his statement be anough for the progress of the application cos dis is my first time of applying for visa. 10ksGiven your financial circumstance, I don't see how it is possible to obtain a UK visa |
tlala: Hi, please i need some clarification on two things. first, i want to apply for my 5yrs visa in few months and i have a new job that is not paying as much as the former i used for my previous visas 6 and 2 yrs respectively but the salary is jus above 150k with the new one while the other was 250kThough the question might come up out of curiosity or for credibility purpose, but changing a job is a personal matter, it is not a requirement to provide reasons for leaving a previous job, so, it is none of the embassy's business |
johnkent: If he's transiting through another country, he might not be allowed to board a plane. An expired passport is just as good as no passport. Just like u can't drive on an expired drivers license, u sure cant fly on a expired passport either.Even if he is transiting through another country, he can't be stopped, no immigration authority has the legal rights to stop him from returning to his own country with expired passport. |
hinge: you simply can't my advise is to contact nigeria embassy in usaWhat immigration law forbids a person from returning to his own country if he is able to prove that he is a citizen of the country? Whether expired or not expired passport, he is entitled to return home with it;and even without a passport, it is the duty and the responsibility of Immigration officers to receive a citizen who is able to prove his/her citizenship: and expired passport is a valid proof that one is a citizen. |
