Politics › Re: Nigerians Will Need 2-Week Public Holiday To Recover After Buhari – Ndi Kato by viodemus: 7:19pm On Feb 05, 2023
This is funny.

Oga Buhari's percentage went up by 2% in my books. All these semi completed projects increased his percentage in my book. The reason why he can't get more percentage is because I think he didn't handle the.projects with foresight, and he didn't generate money for the federation, that could have been used for servicing the government, and making life better for Citizens.

I think his ministers and other people in charge, ran circles around him. I think they approach him with a project, then they invite one oyibo for the next meeting to suppress him with grammar, then he will be overwhelmed and then ask them how much he should go and borrow, they tell him, (he doesn't think about it), he then goes everywhere with hat in hand, begging anybody that listens. I think that's how it plays out. Moreover, most of the completed projects were highly marked up, and most of them are not efficient.

We need leaders with foresight, am not too sure that oga Peter Obi can cover the foresight and visionary grounds of leadership, it remains to be seen. I just believe he is the best amongst the number 1 competition.

Some disadvantages of oga Perer obi in my book are: He likes to buy gifts for traditional rulers and pay them heftly - I hope that changes, you can't be paying traditional rulers when schools and agriculture are suffering; He also thought it was normal to buy shares in companies as a leader.
These are fundamental flaws. I hope he respects the leadership post of Nigeria.
He is not as bad as oga Atiku and oga Tinubu in the treasury theft sector.

Anyway, I think Oga Buhari was duped by people around him. That is why we need a better leader that can comprehend and understand situations better.

Good for you.

I think say you been dun comot trenches, not knowing say you go trenches transfer. You just got to the USA in December 2022. E almost sound like trenches dun finish.

I don't know what type of job you dey do, but construction na from $12/hr to $100/hr depending on skill level, skill level takes years and dedication. There are many other skilled jobs that start low - due to living Bill's. If you no get correct job, you never comot trenches. Go and do energy jobs, or go join army if you dey below 42 years. Maybe you get capital before you come, I no know that part. Go and figure out a realistic career path or follow up on an existing career. The key is relax a little bit, but start shaping your future in earnest. You still need to get used to societal norms and basic requirements. Maybe you get accomodation with family, because if na paddy thing, that tolerance go expire sooner than later.

Foreign Affairs › Re: US Shoots Down Suspected Chinese Spy Balloon Over Atlantic Ocean by viodemus: 11:16pm On Feb 04, 2023
That's what they have been waiting for since. Very disciplined force. They did not act unprofessionally by assuming, because source of projection had not been determined - could it have been a chinese regular civilian ship that got close to a point in the ocean, then inflated and released this flying balloon(s). OR could it have come from an individual(s) that set this off. These and more factors, are what correct professionals do. They did not panic and start shooting at it, because it could have contained disruptive chemicals, and they also studied its communication signals in the course of its flight. Professionals. They did not act out of shame or react frantically. Nigeria should learn a thing or two in that kind of surprise situations.

The result for the ballon senders

They have put their civilian ships in danger, that is why china is cooperating with iran on the straits of homuz, and they are trying to take advantage of SA sea shores, then Djibouti, south china sea, Taiwan straits, the new lekki port, Sierra Leone ports, Senegal ports, and many latin ports.

They (chinese) acted so irresponsible in this situation, like how they act around aircraft carriers and contested spaces, they are still archaic in their actions. They have satellites that spy on the USA daily and vice versa, it is a treaty that every superpower has. They are allowed to spy on each other from the sky, above commercial spaces, but higher than what these balloons did. China don't want to play the stray balloon games. They better sharpen up on their professional habits, because it can backfire for them.

Good job from the USA, the world's best hope, together many willing of the good will humble china. China should play well o, they haven't earned world power status and they cannot fight their way in, when they have no good hope to offer.

God bless the USA.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Please Help Me Decide On This Present Job Offer by viodemus: 10:47pm On Feb 04, 2023
It's a little confusing to me on the employer's part, but I assume their actions intent is retainment driven, but I think they are wrong about their strategy.

You are right in demanding for your agreed pay in full, afterall they pay you after you work at an agreed time. The employer need to do a good job of retaining, training, choosing, continuous association with an partner employee. It is their own home work to do, but the employee will need to be able to add value by learning and fitting in to the goal of the organization.

They need to pay you your money in full, they should try to owe you for cycles of period, after which you get paid.

The problem is that many people jump into business and not ready to do the work that comes with running the business, things like building trust, studying the business, knowing the business to a higher percentage, etc Am not just talking about a basic buying and selling business that does not require intense knowledge like a provision store, even though there are buying and selling that requires more knowledge(maybe not an expert) like pharmacy/auto/parts/aero/restaurants etc Then skilled job like mechanics/electrical/ plumbing/ construction etc Then service jobs that can comprise of skilled and sales jobs.
people don't understand their position or aim, it even affects their hiring effects of the goal. Everyone wants to be boss including the people you are employing. They just fail to see that and make the right adjustments to their goals.

No mind the drift, you are right in your request.

These things dey easy to adjust the laws for, without trampling on anyone's rights. But we need to have moral rights, even better than developed countries, but sensible for us, like I say without disrupting peoples freedom.
But just because we need freedom, means that anybody quest for freedom, will now become other peoples mental freedom. Some of these laws should be part of what we vote for in future elections; Like if there's an upcomimg election like the current one, there should be some controversial laws that people can vote for/against, something that is too complex for Senate. But still have nass vote for majority of the laws.

I hope the unprofessional authorities are brought to book, if possibly fired from their jobs.

A very unprofessional supposed professionals.

It is time to replace NYSC, by making it a thing that many people receive NA basic training; it can still have the posting thing, but in a designated camp. It will do two things for sure, it will make outside enemies think twice and thrice; and it will also make NA respect the civilians more.

It is also wise to fire lots of the chaffs from NPF, and replace them with better intelligent civilians and some from NA, while Npf continues modernizing.

The NA are wrong here, and am mostly their supporter, but they acted without discipline and even became the disturbers of peace. Those specific dunces from the NA that were on that criminal gang rampage, should be fired from such national responsibilities.

Some Nigerians are so used to suffering that they don't know what is right and wrong. They are genetically tied to suffering, that they don't know no other way. They think these specific criminal NA in this situation, are right. People that just damaged innocent lives and properties. It is pitiful.

By the way, I don't advocate for civilians to be disrespectful and obstructive to official professionals. They too should be punished if they are at fault.

This is the rubbish that they borrowed money for. They built tracks and used some old tracks, but it did not occur to them to build a correct track, then also build electric guard to protect the tracks. Let's not even talk about the kinds of trains they bought.

Everytime you give contract in Nigeria, people eat the money and present a project that is below minimum. Just look at how the citizens of a great country suffers every single day. It is not cool at all.

The truth is that many nigerians are too naive about societal complexities. Many have no clue on anything great. If you want to help Nigerians with all your passion and means, dem go gada, suck you dry, sabotage your intentions, cun dey call you mugu. Forgetting they are the complete mugus wey destroy their destiny due to small selfish glory. That is why, the FG, sg, lg, fake traditional rulers, ministers, etc all steal the treasury in front of everyone, then sell us unseen mansions in the sky, without any questions. Look at the new port in lekki, they borrowed money, took enough of it, and built a hut. Same as the new railway, they borrow, built basic, and pocketed more than the project money.

* one thing about that railway, they built passenger trains, but not freight train. I mean, wouldn't it make sense to build freight for national commerce, that can also assist in food accessibilty and security, etc. In America,
since late 1800s, freight trains have helped developed the nation. Underground or overground. Freight trains have helped any industrialized country today. But nigeria went for people train, so that we can form like we already have a successful foundation. We lack foresight in all corners of the society. It is shameful.

I thank God for giving me the opportunity to know America as an employee and as an employer. I learnt alot. Any thinkable dot is assessed and covered if need be.

This is also a lesson to employers. Treat people with respect and have conscience. I also thank God for the people that work in my businesses, Depending on the business, I don't go profit crazy just for me, I give bonuses all the time, I just did one sign off before I saw this post, I gave approval for four trips --- two nigerians, one SA, and one kenyan, these are new staffs that started about 2years ago. The crazy thing is that the sA staff wish is to come to Nigeria for 2 weeks, Lagos, Abuja, and calabar is high on her list. The kenyan guy chose to go to SA. The Nigerian lady chose America, and the guy is headed to France. The other people make money and some have had an opportunity to travel to any place of their choice with hotel stay and money for fun or for keeps. I also encourage them to grow and improve in the trade. I appreciate them, and they also know I respect their opinions, I don't just fire anyone like that, I like to have multiple diplomatic talk with any slacker in the business. Many have the chance to leave, but they like it here. I thank God for them. This Christmas, they bought me cars that I don't need --- I donated the two cars with other personal contributions from me, to motherless baby organizations, they also give me customized things, etc The longer staffs even buy stuffs for my parents --- which I don't condone, especially big gifts. I try to make sure they are happy like me, nothing is enough, but they know I try to respectfully do right by them, and see improvements. Am not about see me your boss or whatever, I be g like them, we work diligently, and sometimes have fun that would etch in our memories.

When you own McDonald's, or other franchises, the business is different. Your impact to the employees are limited kind of, so I do things like early pay increase, and just any benefits that I can include. That resulted in them raising the location level, the McDonalds in Seattle and Iowa, have a good city and state inspection record on hygiene, and really few customer complaints on day to day operations. It is a stepping stone job, so I do have people leaving for their other careers but many personally vouch for that location, and encourage their friends to apply. I don't make much decisions on those businesses, it basically runs itself, and it is 247 operations. I can watch the day to day operations from Nigeria or wherever if the need be. I thank God for all my working partners.

Nothing to be worried about.

It is to their disadvantage. Am sure a couple of US and NATO ships escorted it all the way there, it is in neutral waters.

if you want your hypersonic to be effective, you don't want nobody close marking you, Hypersonics are dangerous at the cruise stage, not boost phase. So if they are marking them close, and Russia decides to shoot them out, even if they are 50 missiles, they can be intercepted in the boost phase, and if they are not caught in the boost phase, US can blast them with the powerful lasers (they are keeping quite on this technology); even regular time fused bombs can disrupt their travel paths. You send a conventional missle that is fast but not too fast, and it just need to be in the range (am talking 1 to 4 km ), the regular missle will detonate, and in the process blast the stupid russian weapon in the sky or undersea. The problem will be radiation rain, but they have a respectable solution for that.

What we are not asking, is what will happen to russia within the 1st two hours of war. They will become a radiation waste land, many of their weapons will not lift off, US and NATO, will destroy them very quickly.

Don't try serious countries, they plan for all eventualities. And they did not underestimate Afghanistan, not to talk of China and Russia.

China is still recovering from years of spying gone wrong. So the story goes, china thought they hacked the Pentagon for the f35 plane program, the US anti hackers and intelligence team got wind of this, and went and changed many vital engineering parts and materials, then foolish china went and copied everything, and even went as far as building an armada of planes with their spied technology; it was after they had already built the planes in large numbers, they started experiencing faults after faults, non repairable faults, faults that did not let the planes stay in the air for more than 25mins, and on top of that, the planes were always visible to the USA and all her allies. It got so bad, that china had to scrap the whole program, even to this day, they haven't recovered fully. Russia was also a victim of this kinds of things.

Lossia knows their mate ----Iran. Definitely not the USA or her allies.

They have petrol to patrol and do tourism around the USA, they can't mean business with the USA. The result will be against them, and it will be so fast, pussee would not believe it in his grave.

AldrichAmes:
I understand your concern due to how inflated most big projects are in Nigeria. But I don’t think you did adequate research before posting this.

1. The project is a PPP project and not a loan hence China and the investor hold 75% of the project which will lapse after 45 yrs.

2. This is a list of the 12 most expensive deep sea ports constructed last year: https://www.ship-technology.com/features/the-ten-most-expensive-port-projects-in-the-last-year/

^From that list, you’d see the cost of the Lekki Sea Port is in the same range as all the deep sea ports on that list. The only outlier, which is a bit cheaper, is NOLA Oil Terminal. And that’s because it’s an oil terminal and not a commercial port.

Also, all ports aren’t the same and the level of dredging and other variables involved in construction also play a role in the cost. And once you compare it with the other ports on the list I posted above, the cost isn’t really too steep.

Personally, my biggest concern is the excessive concentration of a lot of things in that axis and the nightmare it’s going to cause for Lagos, which is already excessively overpopulated.
Am with you on most of your analysis, I have to also commend you for countering my assertion without insults. If you look at the list you posted, many of them were built to have more capacity on sea and on land, including temporary storage sites, parking lots for small and heavy duty trucks; and also well built roads, with the computer systems to go with it, including backup generators for continuous operation.

lekki axis, has favorable sea bed and sand. So the dredging part is not hectic like say in Japan or korea. or even the middle east. The soil analysis is very favorable. Anyways, there are many variables that favor us in this construction if only we had knowledgeable people in our society, that were also used.

Chairman, I still lean on the fact that the mark up for the project was over exaggerated. I even go as far as saying the exaggerated portion of the money was way more than the actual project.

I say all these from the strength of the released information, there is a lot of variables that am not aware of yet, like kinds of materials used. Cold formed steels, welding processes, material transport to and from the job site, and other assisting ancillary equipments. That is why they should release the original document of the project, not the security operations and characterization of the port.

it was not good at all.

I wish you the best after this.

One thing you did for Nigeria, was to let us know that we cannot compromise on leadership. We will pick high tier intelligent people from now on.
