a little over ambitious don't you think?. . .asking an Eistein to explain something to a pea sized brain is attempting to fit two camels through the eye of a needle.  It won't work moron!

Ok, let me ask you straight-forward questions, because in your typical Nigerianess you now want to be decietful.

1. DOES A VAST MAJORITY OF NIGERIANS LIVE ON LESS THAN $2?

2. WHAT IS THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN NIGERIA?

3. WHAT IS THE MINIMUM WAGE IN NIGERIA?

4. ARE MAJORITY OF NIGERIANS IMPOVERISHED OR WEALTHY?

Please, these are simple answers that require Yes, No, or straight-forward answers. I, and other sane minds, do not need an epistle on "free glo to glo calls", "Gucci Eggs", "$30/plate Eba with Princess-Cut Diamonds in the Egusi" or the fact that you own two phones. Just straight forward answers!

Oponu oshi!
You are too retarded to understand the depth of my answers or analysis.   grin grin grin grin.  Your IQ must be lower than the average student's bank account balance grin grin grin grin grin

and where did he mention this?

he responded to the post below where someone mentions it's impossible for Nigerians to live on less than 2 dollars a day.  He argued it's very possible for someone to live on this budget and he buttressed his point by using a real life example of his own, which part of that do you still not understand
Don't worry, he's a wally with a pea brain, he still won't get it.  He has a mild mental retardation, and he's clearly incapable of understanding the simplest things  grin grin grin

Dude, please, please, please I dont know who you are and I'd hate to start on you too. I'm actually fuming right now because of something a colleague just said to me regarding this topic. You want to know what she said (when she walked into my office ----I asked to go read up on this thread and tell me what she thinks) : "WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT THOSE AFRICANS ANYWAYS?!" I just feel like smashing my computer out of frustration.

How did I get him wrong if he's telling me that its impossible to survive on $2/day? How did I get him wrong if I'm telling him that not only do majority of Nigerians live on $2/day, but that in fact A LARGE AMOUNT OF THE POPULATION GO WITHOUT MEALS FOR DAYS.

If hes not a dense dummy, that has trouble reading, wont he notice that I said earlier that I've been (and am still) involved with organizations that intend to alleviate poverty in Africa? You think we're just pulling out numbers out of our as*ses?! Imagine wealthy people, and organizations, reading the trash being posted here. . . why should we be surprised next time we ask them to join our cause?

I do not spend my hard-earned money, and time, gathering info and funds on how to better Nigerian lives only for doofuses like this to tell me that "Oh, dont worry, its ok, I eat expensive egg and noodles , have two phones and can save $7/month. So, dont think we're suffering". I will not appreciate it one bit.

So, please dont tell me that I'm getting him wrong, because, quite frankly, not only am I appalled, I'm incensed!!!
You are not incensed my friend, it may seem you are, but you clearly not, It's either you are cursed or you just a moron. . .or maybe you are just a cursed moron  grin grin grin grin.  I bet if you read my post a million times over, you still wont get it grin grin grin grin grin  Its never too late to start again dude.

Youre a disgrace, not only to yourself but also to mankind as a whole, I'll tell you why in a bit.

But, first, let me tell you that youre a freaking disgrace to the Nigerian Education System and the fact that you even hold a degree from any University in that country shows the level of decadence that country has fallen into. 10 more of your likes running around shows that theres no hope for Nigeria anytime soon. And your fellow didirins come dey hail you, you probably come dey fancy yourself as a scholar of inestimable repute, abi?

What you did up there is like a person asking "Whats 2+2?" and you start telling us about the history of Pope John Paul I.

Wetin concern us with how much you earned as a Corper? Is that the question at hand here? Are we asking how you survived as a Corper or are we debating whether or not Nigerians survive on less than $1/day?!

Youre a horrible shame! Jesus, whats wrong with these kids? Is idiocy mixed in the water you all drink or what?

How many Graduates are employed in Nigeria? Do statistics show that more than 80% of Nigerians live in abject poverty or not? Is the minimum wage in Nigeria N18000 or not? Look im mouth like "Egg on the expensive side".

Youre so used to poverty that you actually think youre enjoying. Noodles?! Bread?! N3500 for a room and you come on here to boast about how you were living in total squalor. N2600 in savings every month equates to less than $7/month and thats what you used to buttress your point?!

My friend, honestly, I shiver at the thought that your likes will one day procreate and pass your genes along to another human to continue a generation that will spread your wealth of ignorance.

God!
My God!. . .are people really this dumb?  shocked  shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

WE ARE DISCUSSING THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN NIGERIA AND THE US OR NIGERIA AND THE UK ( so drop all those fancy words and figures of the US vs UK you want to use to further confuse yourself )

HOW MANY NDLEA CHECKPOINTS HAVE YOU SEEN IN NIGERIA ? IN FACT HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A DOG AT A HIGHWAY CHECKPOINT IN NIGERIA IN YOUR FULL LIFE ?

weda to sniff your allaged home or factory made bomb . . . BINGO NOR GO WORK

u no go school ? THIS IS 9JAH OH !
i guess all the dogs were cooked for lunch then. . . smh!

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has explained why it spends millions of naira to buy and groom sniffer dogs in South Africa, Europe and the United States, rather than groom Nigerian dogs, saying that dogs in the country are not intelligent enough to detect illicit drug.

During the official presentation yesterday in Lagos, South West Nigeria, of two air conditioned Toyota Hiace vehicles for NDLEA sniffer dogs by Mr. Walter Von Driesch, the German Consul-General in Lagos, an official of NDLEA who is trained to handle sniffer dogs, said that ‘it is just nature’ that Nigerian dogs are slow learners.

He said that it is very hard to groom Nigerian dogs and a trainer can spend an entire life trying to make them intelligent enough to detect drug, adding that this is not the case with American, European and South African dogs. “We can’t explain it. It’s just nature,” he said.

The two air conditioned vehicles for the dogs were purchased by BKA Germany, the German agency that fights illicit drug, at the cost of 50, 000 Euros.

THE FIRST THING I OBSERVED IN THIS YOUR POST IS THAT YOU MENTIONED SOME COUNTRIES WHICH YOU ARE COMPARING NIGERIA TO . . . Eg. USA , UK & SA

YOU CLAIM TO BE IN DIASPORA . . . BUT I DOUBT THAT YOU HAVE EVER LEFT AFRICA IF NOT YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN THAT THE ONLY TWO SIMILARITIES BETWEEN ALL COUNTRIES ARE THE SUN AND MOON WHICH COMES OVER US

IS THE CRIME RATE , ECONOMY , MODE OF OPERATION , STANDARD OF LIVING & ETC THE SAME IN THOSE COUNTRIES ? A DOG IS AN ANIMAL AND THIS FACT ALONE MURDERS THE LOGIC OF YOUR REASONING.
What rubbish are you spewing here? . .You my friend must be smoking Igbo no offense,  but to think there's much difference between the standard of living that obtains in the UK and that of the US is nothing but pure dumb Ignorance!

YOU CLAIM HERE IN 9JAH YOU SPEND CLOSE TO 60K ON YOUR DOGS . . . DO YOU IMAGINE HOW MUCH IT WILL THEN COST THE FEDERAL GOVT TO MAINTAIN THE DOGS ? * the human being police dem  never even collect their salary finish yet *
Read this nonsense and give yourself a knock for not making a complete use of your cognitive ability.

THIS IS NIGERIA . THIS IS A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY ( call a spade a spade ) . WE ARE BACKWARDS IN ALL RAMIFICATIONS EXCEPT CORRUPTION . 10% OF NIGERIA'S POPULATION EAT DOGS . 50% OF CROSS RIVER ADULTS ARE POLICE OFFICERS ( please note, its very important ) . NIGERIA IS CURRENTLY NOT IN THE MOOD TO BUY & SEW POLICE UNIFORMS FOR BINGO . BOKO HARAM BOYS HAVE NEVER SMILED . . . THEY HAVE AGE OLD WEAPONS THAT CAN EFFECTIVELY RENDER A DOG USELESS ( among other more notorious things ) .
And is it not the same third world country where NDLEA buys and maintains a breed of dogs for its use?  Your argument is not making any sense, no offense.  Why aren't the Police officers at NDLEA consuming their dogs for lunch?  Should i have to explain to you that dogs aren't meant to attack Boko Haram boys, but rather to sniff out dirty home made bombs?---why is this concept difficult for you to understand?

@dasparrow:

First: Millions of Nigerians own dogs and spend a lot of resources caring for them, the attitude of a certain culture or tribe is not enough to rationalize the behavior of an average Nigerian towards dogs. I spent an average of 60 grand a month on my rots while in Nigeria and i know of many of my friends that spend closer to that same amount.  Agreed that the care and attention we give to this animals will never come close to what obtains in the UK or US, but should that really be a deciding factor when the country risks implosion and dogs could serve a very useful purpose?

Second:  NDLEA has long employed and spent millions on the use of dogs in its fight against drugs.  Most of the breed it owns were trained from South Africa and the United States. If the use of dogs has proven to be a useful approach towards this cause, why then can we not employ the same approach in a situation that could potentially save the lives of thousands?

Third:  I feel very disturbed that your post seem to hold a dim, ugly view of an average Nigerian.  You portrayed a picture of a country so backward in time, and it's people so crude and unrefined so much so that you wouldn't recommend anyone bringing their dogs to Nigeria. Is that what we are really?

I can see you aren't very gifted in the area of cognitive ability.  Dogs have been used on several occasions  to sniff out dirty home made bombs, why should it be any difficult to apply the same here?. . .Except of course, our country is cursed enough to have more half witted fellows who happen to believe the canines will end up in somebody's pot.  Seriously, can people be actually dumber?

No one is saying dogs are better equipped than the police you iidiot. It will be perfectly safe to assume you are insane to even think that in the first place.  The argument here, . . .if you have any ability to understand the simplest things,. . . is in the fact that dogs have highly advanced sensory ability to detect things humans aren't normally capable of, if it will help to save life by detecting hundreds of bombs before they explode, why the fck should we not use it?

why can't this country spend half of the amount budgeted for the President's food in buying thousands of bomb sniffer dogs from the US?  Isn't that a faster more effective way of detecting explosives than depending on kids to chance upon them while out in their play grounds?

Wouldn't we be a step closer in combating this heinous terrorist attacks if each officer held a bomb sniffer dog at every major Police check point?
not every nigerian live less than 1 dollar a day. If I was living in nigeria, i will not be living in less than 1 dollar a day. But i am a graduate. But on the average , nigerian are poor  . I will say 80% of nigerian live less than $1 a day. while the rest 20% dont.

Jonathan Goodluck lives better than Obama.  Obama has no chance to roger.  When you add up every extra Jonathan Goodluck get, it is more than $1,000,000 a day.  Dangote lives more than $100000 a day.

Every contract govt sign comes with roger.  This is why Nigeria does not have a federal system. having a federal system means govt officers and all the people in abuja will not receive roger.

And the ministers will not agree if they dont get roger(bride). That why we dont have a true federal system ,
There's no way we can understand what you are really saying except we see MAPS!

Norrisman, your obtuseness is really frustrating. When I joined this topic, I asked franel79 to elaborate on how someone lives on 50 cents a day, since he made that claim. And I have yet to get a satisfactory response. I genuinely want to know, I am intrigued by this idea. We are now talking about the poorest people in Nigeria. How does it work? Please give a detailed break-down of these 80 Naira, and how they are allocated to food, shelter and clothing. Considering the cost of food in Nigeria, how do these people prevent from dying of starvation? Or are they eating garbage? If this were true, people would be dropping dead on the streets in scores; alternatively, perhaps they are superhuman and don't need food at all. I am not interested in your silly, irrelevant arithmetic; I want a concrete break-down. And don't send me to Vocal Slender. I have watched the BBC documentary, so I am well aware of him. No, I want you to tell me in your own words how this works out.
Those who live on 80 naira a day do not change their wardrobe as often as your argument suggested. You also wouldn't find them dining at expensive restaurants when it's cheaper to buy a "Congo" of rice for 50 bucks for the entire family.  And contrary to what you may think or what you may be used to, eating 3 square meals a day is actually seen as a misnorm for thousands of families. During my youth service, i met people who were used to eating full meals only at nights and snacking mostly during the day.

You're a bloody liar and deceitful, spiteful person. Where do you live? Tell me so you can come and show me the ''most Nigerians'' that go for 2 - 3 days without food. BLOODY LIAR.

And get this: A plate of Eba and Egusi costs almost $30 in a US restaurant. That same plate of food costs less than $0.2  in the average Nigerian village where most people grow their own food, and only slightly more in cities. How exactly do you dollarise that? So it is a load of deceitful garbage to keep mouthing this 'less than a dollar a day' nonsense. It is a smear designed to humiliate Africans, by western animals who have nothing but spite for Africans.
---> About a year and half ago, the minimum wage was 7,500, many of those earning this amounts had several mouths to feed.

---> Several low skilled jobs in the private sectors pay in the upper bound of 8,000 naira! 2 dollars a day is 109,500 naira a year!

----> There are millions of unemployed graduates depending on families/relatives/friends for survival. More than half of this population cannot afford to live consistently on 2 dollars a day.

It is a smear designed to humiliate Africans, by western animals who have nothing but spite for Africans.
Ah seriously!. . and this must be western invention too, No?

You wonder if some people went to school.

The minimum wage for Federal and state workers is N18,000. Much less in the private sector. I know this because the labourers in my mums shop collect approximately N12,000/ month for a 60hour, 6 day working week with possible deductions for ''breakages'' ( I do not support this form of slavery but she tells me thats the Nigerian way cos if they could get better they would have left her employment)

N18,000 = $110. If you subtract a quarter for transport, $80 is approximately $2.6/ day. if this is income of a household of 4, do the maths. And like some said. if the employed are living on this, what of the unemployed?
If you factor in the effect of staggering inflation which as at last November stood at 10.5%, the numbers look a lot uglier!

Nigerians being brainlessly emotional again!

It wouldn't take anyone with less than half wit to realize that the President's resignation will only contribute more chaos and confusion.

The solution is not to vote in incompetents in the first place.  Jonathan made a self confession right before the elections that he knew within himself that he wasn't the right person for the Job, yet some of the same Nigerians now calling for his resignation, swore and cursed at us for speaking up against their "Obama of Africa".

I remember too well how i read vain excuses on this forum ranging from:

"He's our son, it's our time to rule"

"He had no shoes, so he knows where it truly hurts"

"i love his hat, it shows what a fine leader he is"

'He brought facebook to Nigeria, he'd surely bring "light" and good road networks too'

well, suck it up people!. . .The president's resignation will not make Nigeria any better!
