@seguno2 If it is not propaganda, then why is the dollar rate worsening and the CBN unable to clear its backlog of payments to foreign companies ![]() Did you think about this before you typed your comment? @me The dollar rate is worsening because the aggregate fx inflow is still lower than outflow. Effect of the increase of non-oil revenue on dollar rate depends on the mix. If a reasonable part of it is export income then it will affect the exchange rate positively. From the analysis the bulk of it is in naira. The benefit will be less shock on the economy because of volatile international crude oil rate. The CBN clearing the backlog is dependent on availability of fx. It's a difficult situation. Someone took things on credit enjoyed it and left. Another person comes in and is saddled with the responsibility of paying for the goods already consumed as well as find money to run his current cost. Our minds have been so tuned to propaganda in this country. Everything is not propaganda. The statistics is from budget office. You can access the information. |
Very good development. More income stability. |
Evil of the last ASU strike. The academic year is being rushed. Lecturers and students are stressed 😫. RIP to our dear Doc. |
@Iseoluwani useless country. @me Only a useless person lives in a useless country. |
@Ruke1989 some of you just like to talk but not well informed. NNPC is on strike, FG revenue generating agencies are on strike. FG has a lot to lose than those companies. Do those company CEOs buy need money for private yacht? Do they need money for jumping abroad every week? The strike will hurt tinubu and the political class because they will have to double their efforts in borrowing to meet up so as not to provoke the electorate if they are not able to pay salary. Tinubu will have lesser free money to use for briibing judges, renovating his house or changing cars. As for those companies they were already losing money since tinubu dollar policy. It was only tinubu that gained through the dollar policy because he had 1.9 trillion naira to share in one month instead of the former 700 billion naira. That was because the new naira rate was used to convert Nigeria earnings. Though you are defending him only because he is from your tribe, but he is under pressure as long as NNPC is on strike. @me Does nnpc produce crude. Crude production is going on. When the economy is battered the rich will survive the poor will not. Today some people still fill their tanks while most cannot afford three meals. |
@Bigboytinz too cheap you can make that in a day so what are u saying @me Make 200 quid a day? hahaha. National minimum wage is around £10 per hour. |
@Whalis This is no news as people in UK do not need fridge in the first place. Heating system is the first priority and not freezer. @me How do you preserve your food? |
@advanceDNA 200k is now less than 200pounds oooo ..that's cheap oooooo bill oooo @me Cheap when you are on £10 per hour job. £200 is your income for three days. Nigerians like to convert. |
@jmoore They have 24/7 electricity everywhere in their country. Unlike your country ran by criminal leaders that is generating 5,000 megawatts for 180 million people. @me Your country is not their mate. |
Lazy government workers. Let the ignore them and declare no work no pay. Refuse to pay for one month, declare them terminated and start the process of recruitment. Everyone will rush back to work. Please bring ngige back to deal with them. |
@Praxis758 Oshiomole did worst than this under OBJ and today’s critics of the NLC were those hailing him then. Would Oshiomole be beaten as NLC president during his days and the the nation won’t be set ablazed? @me The Ajaero man was not on national assignment. He was on his personal party assignment. The event concerned Imo state. Is it not rascality to declare national strike? |
In Aba the strike that we know is the Monday ikpa strike. Aside banks not opening wetin concern us. Hustler get strike? I dey hustle enode due I come add strike na suicide jor. Make Ajaero go sidon for doti jare. |
Soldier no dey do his own where they post him? Na him holy pass? ![]() |
Contract marriage in Nigeria? See selfishness... you will marry her for fixed number of years. She'll bear the pains of child bearing and do wifey things for you. You alone will take the children. At the expiration of the contract she will pack her things and leave. No child, no husband, no home. You would have sandpapered everything in her whatever ![]() You will then have another contract marriage. This time no child bearing. Only wifey things. Na only you get sense. Even though some of you underrate women, they are not as stupid as this. Have some respect for them. |
Tinubu should just switch to buhari's mode. Since he dealt with ASU they have been quiet. Let's have this strike from Ajaero and his cohorts once and for all. |
@rejoice4eva Exactly my thoughts. They are just amalgamation of wicked and opportunistic self centered power mongers who collided to hijack power to fulfill their inordinate ambitions to the detriment of the nation. @me Collided? Maybe trailer and armoured car ![]() |
@IyaTola The older the sweeter. @me What is sweet 🧁 in this? Pure dead wood 🪵. |
@utime Maybe a Nigerian minister will be appointed now. @me No, a Briton has been appointed. Cleverly. He is the current foreign secretary. Cameron is taking over from him. |
What is the name of PDP chairman?? ![]() |
Why are you focused on this type of Jobs? |
[quote author=Greyworld post=126917827]The way I wrote is a response to what you said. I believe your children are part of this unproductive generation or are they 58 also?? @me Even in an unproductive generation one can make an exception through discipline. 28 years, Msc engineering and married. Is this productive or not? |
@Greyworld Now that you are old act it , Mr "back then", cause you are sounding like being young is a crime. @me Being young is not a crime but our youthful days were more productive and we were more disciplined and more respectful. Even the way you wrote tells what I'm saying. FYI I'm 58. Still very productive and mentor a lot of young people. It shows how we used our earlier days. |
@DaddyJapan O.G spotted. We are an endangered cohort on Nairaland these days. @me Still young and rolling ![]() |
All these statements of "I have not heard of these banks" clearly shows that nairaland is populated by babies. No wonder they behave anyhow. Some of these banks were prime banks back then eg ICON Merchant bank. It was a subsidiary of NIDB (Nigerian Investment and Development Bank) owed by the federal government. How much are you guys paying so that I'll tell you how things worked back then? I lost quite some money in some of these banks. When money was money. I was an articled clerk (meaning trainee accountant) in accounting practice back then on 150 Broad street. My good friend Ms Patience Oniha (present DG Debt Management Office) was an investment analyst in ICON Merchant bank. She was always taking me out for lunch because she could pay with LV (luncheon voucher) Yes we rolled back then with beautiful girls with brain not the present slay queens with nothing upstairs. We slept for years in the classroom in order to pass ICAN when ICAN was ICAN. ![]() |
@Greyworld Is it just me that doesn't know any of those banks? @me You are a baby 🍼 . Real men lost a lot of money in those banks. |
Truth be told. Technology is good. Internet is good. It has made many dull and semi-illiterate. The writings are poor. Very few constructs error-free sentence. When I enter banks I see only poorly breed workers that are being helped by technology. Different from our times when merely going through financial report of entities you can easily tell whether the entity is dead or alive. The Prof is absolutely right 👍. |
@Magnoliaa Lol...I don't know what to say to this. Modified: She should have a conversation with him and they should reach an agreement. That's literally the only issue here, imo. They both seem like good people who aren't communicating but have the best or intentions for another. @me This is what you want. You are happy. Advise her to ask the man to slow down before we hear......and the man died. |
Sex is not by power nor by might. |
@Myer There's nothing new under the sun. If it was an intentional deceut on the part of the man, then that was not fair. She definitely should feel cheated. But could be the man was ashamed. However there are solutions to this. They simply need to go for marriage counselling. Test-running is inexcusable both for man and woman especially if you're a believer. For a believer, whatever comes your way is for your good as long as you love God. It is for God's glory. Cos God has a reason for it that will end in a testimony. Interestingly a similar scenario played out in a conversation with a colleague. A couple decided to be celibate till after wedding only for the wife to find husband is micropenial after. She felt so cheated. God eventually helped her when she opened up to a colleague at work who introduced her to a solution and she and her husband now have a satisfactory sexual life. I didn't really get the details of the solution but some thing herbal I guess. The challenge is when we don't truly and fully trust God. The things God can and will do for those who truly trust him, eyes have not seen and ears have not heard them. That's really what births the Miraculous moves of God. May God not give us tests/trials/temptations beyond what our trust/faith can handle. @me What if the pen is totally dead? Will she continue and leave everything in the hands of God? |
@emorse It doesn't matter who accumulated the backlog bro. Our man saw the shit before applying for the position of "shit packer". And he actually moved mountains to get the job. It's high time we all called him to find a way to do the job or make way for other "shit Packers" to do so. @me I understand you and I support you. But in our abusing and disparaging we must understand that the heap of the shit is so high because it contains so many years shit. Let's be patient and supportive because another person shit dey smell too much and it hard to pack am particularly when shovel and sewage truck 🚛 scarce. The most important thing is that the shit packer sabi work. He has done it before ![]() |
@Kukutente23 With all due respect, that's a stupid question. Tinubu just budget over 4bn for renovating Aso Rock and another 2.5bn for Dodan barracks. Same Aso Rock Buhari's govt claimed to be renovating just before inauguration in May this year. You didn't ask why renovate what has already been renovated did you? I hope you can see how stupid your question is. @me I'm well cultured even though this is a faceless forum. I refuse to use gutter language. My question again: who accumulated the backlog and when was it accumulated? Straight answer please 🥺. |
@Kukutente23 Where are we going in this country with this clueless govt? I thought they've started paying the backlog and naira will firm up. This is the first time in history that naira will hit N1000 at the official market. APC is a massive, unmitigated disaster!! @me Who accumulated the backlog? Another person shit and another come they suffer to clear the shit. |
