This is called the free market. Is it not what Tinubu's government wanted? You floated the Naira and removed the subsidy and still want to control the cost of goods. This is a policy somersault.

There is a measure of subsidy in place. Government is aware that Nigerians cannot pay the landing cost plus margin of every litre of pms. Therefore government had to absorb some cost.

The difference is that in the past individuals were allowed to bring in the product and file claim for subsidy. Most times the quantity declared as having been brought in were fake. Paper quantities were used to claim subsidy from government.

The present arrangement is that nnpc is the sole importer. They present their cost plus margin to government and the government asks them to sell below cost. This reduces their annual profit and by extension the dividends paid to government.

The payment of cash as subsidy for products that were not brought in is eliminated.

The nnpc therefore sells products to marketers at a price that will allow them add a fixed margin and sell to the public at predetermined price. The marketers are flouting that price because of scarcity.

Look I'm an Igbo. This is not how to hate. Hate with reason. How much have successive governments up till now invested into power? Obasanjo spent billions of dollars on electricity, what came out of it. Atiku privatized nepa and sold it to his friends and it became worse. The only clear legislative roadmap to improve power came during buhari's regime.

The regime that you are calling names, have they invested a quarter of what obasanjo invested and you didn't get results?

The shipping cost and port offloading cost, that would be eliminated, should reflect on the price of domestically produced fuel.

I understand the meaning but your earlier statement painted a different picture. Basically the difference in cost between an imported and locally produced product is the elimination of shipping and port of landing associated costs.

The protestors instead demanded that the size of the Government be cut by at least half beginning with the Federal Government. So what this man is doing is playing jokes with the demands of the people of Nigeria.
Better question is must they even be a part of the Nigerian government?

The protesters should start by asking their representatives to amend the constitution so that the requirement of one minister per state should be removed. The size of the legislature should be cut down.
