Experts agree that Nigeria's tax to GDP ratio is one of the lowest in the world. Which means that Nigerians are low tax payers.

For example people sell properties and securities regularly but very few know about CGT. People swim in massive inherited wealth but we don't hear of CTT. The good thing about tax is that the revenue generated is reflective of the level of activity in the economy. High economic activity high tax revenue.

What is needed from January 2026 is tax planning. While tax evasion is illegal, tax avoidance is legal. In planning your economic activity always consider the tax effect.
