lilsmart: This is a concerning development that raises several procedural and humanitarian questions. While the state has the authority to manage the detention of individuals in its custody, the sudden and long distance transfer of a high profile detainee like Nnamdi Kanu, especially without apparent prior notification to his legal team, is a move that understandably causes alarm.
From a legal perspective, such a transfer could be seen as an obstruction of his right to adequate legal defense. Consistently consulting with lawyers is a fundamental right for any detainee, and relocating him hundreds of kilometers away from his established legal team in Abuja significantly impedes this right.
Furthermore, the family's concerns for his safety are valid. Sokoto is far from his region of influence and support, which could be perceived as an attempt to isolate him. He's a convict so the issue of access to his legal team doesn't arise anymore. The judge ordered that he should be handed over to a correctional center that is safe. It's at the discretion of the security agencies to choose anyone. Before his conviction he had asked that he should be moved out of DSS facility to kuje prison. With kanu's unruly behaviour to everyone he shouldn't expect favour from anyone. He will change his dress and given prison dress and number. He's case is closed just like any other prisoner. |

This is the right decision to take. I have said it before now that there should be no reason why any boarding school should operate up north. Either they are closed or temporary day schools are provided for them. The boarding schools up north are out of the central towns and in isolated locations. How many soldiers can we provide for a permanent protection? |

Politics › Re: Judge Declares Nnamdi Kanu An International Terrorist by Vision101(m): 8:54pm On Nov 20, 2025 |
lilsmart: The fairness of Nnamdi Kanu's judgment is questioned not because he is seen as blameless by all, but because the process appears politically motivated, illegal in its foundation, and applied with a clear double standard. The state's overwhelming focus on him, while seemingly turning a blind eye to the actions of other powerful individuals who have caused greater tangible harm to the Nigerian populace, creates a powerful and persistent perception of injustice and a two tiered legal system. The other actors though illegal were hiding while doing what they are doing. Kanu was so bold. Looked at president Buhari and insulted him to no end. Carried all manner of propaganda against him. If you were in the south east his broadcasts were like order from the president. The Biafran flag was everywhere. People's businesses and lives were disrupted. Schools were closed. Children couldn't take their exams. Many people up till now don't go to their villages because of ESN. In all these he kept being arrogant and insulting everyone including courts and judges. |

Es350: See I'm an igbo man and I know he has cause havoc and isn't remorseful, and I have no problem with sentencing him.
My problem is sentencing him while oty rs who has committed similar offences are out there walking free.
They should also use this energy for bandits, terrorists, killer herdsmen, and even others like Igboho and co. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
If they won't apply this same treatment to these guys, then they should negotiate with and free him like they did to the others. Quite simple. Remove Igboho. He did nothing. He only tried to copy Kanu but yorubas in their wisdom cautioned him and he quickly listened. As for others let's be watching. Don't forget that Kanu has been on this for years. I hope that my south east will forget sit-at-home. |

Why can't your Government use the same energy to track those Fulani terrorists who killed and kidnapped people of Eruku in Kwarra 3 days ago? They will jail you ooo. I don talk am. Es350: With what I have seen so far, Kanu will be lucky if gets life in prison.
The only solution to this problem is a political solution, not by sentencing.
This same government negotiated with terrorists and bandits who are ravaging Nigeria with violence. Same government are still rehabilitating "repent" Boko Haram and ISAWP members. Government have negotiated with Niger Delta militants in the past, and some of these militants now have juicy contracts of "guarding" pipelines which they were blowing up before.
This is not any different and that's currently the most sensible solution to this problem..
Shalom! Ask Kanu to be remorseful. Let my people be less arrogant. In your entire life have you seen someone that has insulted the entire country like this? Insulted judges and was so rude in the court of justice. |
