Politics › Chibok Girls To Return On Monday by vivalavida(op): 9:59pm On Oct 25, 2014
Despite the breach in the cease fire a g r e ement between the dreaded Boko Haram sect and Federal Government, self-acclaimed Secretary General of Boko Haram, Mallam Danladi Ahmadu, has affirmed that the group’s cease fire agreement with the Federal Government is very much on course.
Ahmadu was alleged to have said that the final meeting between the group and Federal Government to finally seal the ceasefire agreement has been scheduled for Monday in Ndjamena, Chad and to be supervised by the Chadian leader, Idris Derby.
Mallam Ahmadu, who reportedly spoke in the Hausa service of the Voice of America (VOA) yesterday, affirmed that the Chibok schoolgirls would surely be released on Monday to the Chadian President, Idriss Derby for onward presentation to the Nigerian government.
He further stated that an enlarged meeting of the group has been fixed for the weekend to prepare grounds for the Monday meeting with the Federal Government.
Ahmadu also reportedly disclosed to VOA that the group and the Federal Government are in close consultations over arrangements for the Monday meeting in Chad.
On the latest kidnap of over 40 women and girls in the border villages between Adamawa and Borno states, Ahmadu maintained that as far as the Boko Haram is concerned, it is not aware of the latest kidnap and attacks.
He added that in as much as the group is investigating the latest kidnap and attacks to determine the involvement of its members, he revealed that many anti-social groups have infiltrated the Boko Haram.
“Political thugs, armed robbers, kidnappers, hired assassins and other anti social groups now parade as members of the sect. All things being equal if the cease fire agreement is sealed all the groups would fizzle out.”

Politics › Who Was This Obasanjo's Appointee? by vivalavida(op): 8:32pm On Oct 24, 2014
Shagari’s regime (1979-1983), incurred Buhari’s wrath when it decided to investigate the US$2.8 billion that disappeared from the Midland Bank, London account of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation, (NNPC), during General Obasanjo’s era as military head of state that preceded Shagari’s. Dr. Olusola Saraki, Turaki of Ilorin, was the majority party leader of the Senate at the time and he headed the Senate Committee set up to trace the stolen money after some three years of clamour for such an investigation by members of the civil society. The money was traced to the Midland Bank London branch fixed account of Obasanjo’s appointee as military head of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. The Committee’s report was presented to the Senate during the tail end of Shagari’s regime in 1983, so the House decided to deal with the matter and expose the rogue military head of the NNPC soon after the 1983 general elections.

Politics › Re: Apc’s Roadmap For Job Creation. Action And Words by vivalavida(m): 7:28pm On Oct 14, 2014
datolee:
This is a road map to no where... just the usual rhetoric of Nigerian politicians devoid of strategical planning or implementation.

1. Why should it be the responsibility of FG to employ 20,000 workers equivalent of Lagos State Government, Lastma, lawma, kai, public works, lagbus? Will the APC led FG make it a mandatory that all state irrespective of being a APC controlled state to follow this policy or will these 20,000 workers be employed by the FG directly?

If they are employed by the FG, then what is the job function of the like of FRSC, Civil defence and others? If it is for states to create, why haven't APC mandated all of its states to follow the rule? or must they wait until they are in control of the centre?

2. It is very hard to tell if this "road map" is really from the APC because if it is, then, I'm afraid but they are just bunch of noise makers.

First, without a valid national database of all Nigerians, please explain to us how these elderly and vulnerable citizens will be identified? Moreover, what does this mean "upon demonstration of children’s enrollment in school and immunization"?

Secondly, it seems people are just playing with numbers. N5,000 multiplies by 25,000,000 elderly and vulnerable citizens gives you 125 billion Naira per month which is 1.5 trillion Naira per year grin grin huh huh

The Nigeria budget for 2014 is 4.962 trillion Naira, we are talking about spending 30.2% of Nigeria's total budget on phantom "elderly and vulnerable citizens" APC, daris God oh!!

3. Again, this hardly any strategic planning other the usual Nigerian estates and FTZs

4. Again, what APC promise is money, money and more money!! are they father Christmas if I may ask?

5. The first question to ask is, what is the comparative and competitive advantage of Nigeria in terms of mobile phone production? you would think that Apple, for example are stupid by manufacturing their phones in china. What are the policies that will make made in Nigerian phone attractive to foreign market? and what are the incentives for mobile phone manufacturer to establish plants in Nigeria?

6. This is actually a good policy, just as it is done in Thailand for rice and sugar cane farmers, if it is implemented, it will be a welcome development and boast agriculture in Nigeria however, this system is always abused. Read the case of Yingluck Shinawatra.

7. Again, money, money and more money... at this rate, Nigeria will go bankrupt in less than a year

8. I give you pass mark.. but this is actually not the job of FG if we are being honest

9. How is this different from the National Housing Fund provided by the Federal Mortgage Bank Of Nigeria?

10. How do you magically increase the number of small and medium-sized enterprises? by given them more money or what policies? for a start in a country where bank lending rate starts from 12% per annum, how will small and medium-sized enterprises grow?

11. Finally, if I may ask, if APC trying to change our social and economic system from capitalist to socialist?

Most of what u listed have been achieved by this present govt.

Nothing new here

In igbo land, there is a saying --- some promises are best known as nkwa ekwere nwanyi na elu ebe ndi na.

Which means promises made to a woman on da bed just because a brothers wants to dig in. During this process, tha mans brain is beclouded and u will hear statements such as if i go to shoe i will buy u onitsha. Instead of if i go to onitsha,i will get u a new shoe.

This analogy best describes what this omobinrinrin pasted here.
Politics › Re: General Muhammadu Buhari: Listen To His Whispers And Read His Body Language. by vivalavida(m): 10:09pm On Oct 13, 2014
SamIkenna:
Where does one even start on this baloney. Really I'm shell-shocked.
So some fellas now decipher whatever it is Buhari whispers? Hmm! Buhari better watch out 'cos folks now can tele-decode all behind-the-door convo with your wife or wives.

Let's say these Buhari fans are for real, let's assume GMB is the man for the job for a minute. Now, does that make him God? I ask this because that's implicitly what the author is getting at. I mean check out this insulting line: Buhari is telling you that he is not looking for any personal gains but that he is deeply concerned about you all, especially the downtrodden and that his conviction tells him he has a better idea to make life more abundant for you.

The man of great courage and integrity is telling you he shed tears on your behalf because he is seeing what you are not seeing but that is hurting you and devaluing your essence of living.

I suppose Buhari is now on the same level as our lord and savior, Christ. I give it to Buhari followers, they're dogged and passionate for their man and I must admit that I do not believe that most of them are paid agents. However, what is lost in the midst of their shouts and clamor for the second-coming of Buhari is this: How does Buhari intend to turn around Nigeria? I have never heard any concrete bucketlist or outline on how the general intend to deliver. What I've heard him say is "we will secure Nigeria." Each time I hear him retort this line like a code on an infinite loop I'm left wondering: secure Nigeria from what, from who - unless you mean secure Nigeria from Jihadists and born-to-rule mentality. When he's not speaking his fans go on the offensive on how all criminals are scared straight of GMB's presidency. And I ask which criminals?

Its imperative fellas get a message deep down their skulls. The message is this: The players you and I refer to as criminals are Buhari friends and allies. Buhari is no different, in fact if there's any difference at all it is that those other criminals are not overt religious and ethnic champions. I wasn't even in primary school yet when Buhari was the head of state but I grew up hearing how he cut short a fledgling democracy and opened the gate for IBB to abuse us. Today we hear IBB was corrupt but Buhari wasn't and some of us are left wondering if that line makes sense. How should I absolve Buhari when he was the one that kicked open the box that unleashed IBB on us? He was a dictator that stole our parents' mandate so why is that not corruption? Shouldn't that count for something? As we can see fellas, Buhari is no angel and certainly not our savior so I suggest he wipe his tears and stop worrying about us. Majority of us whose innocence and trusts as children were sacrificed during IBB's evil government that was pre-facilitated by Buhari's misadventure have moved on, so its time the general wiped his tears and stopped worrying about us.

In summary, the general is forgiven but its important that we all remember that Buhari was and is never the savior. He was and still is part of the problem. Let new breeds with modern tools suited for modern societies and economies take over the mantle. Its unproductive to regurgitate the past when the future lies in the front. If Buhari who is part of our past is currently the only savior on the horizon then we might as well go further back to independence or even the period of northern and southern amalgamation and, perhaps, de-amalgamate the union - I mean why stop at 1984 when we can go much deeper for ultimate solution. Folks, with all respect, I believe its time for the general to retire. The time has come for Buhari to work for a less abrasive co-existence of all ethnic and religious groupings.

So buhari is now trying to revive a medium of message that was made popular by the defunct Ying Yang Twins. Oya na,continue to dey whisper while men are speaking and talking the talk. He who whispers is not confident of himself. He should speak out so we can hear him. Nobody has the time to strain his ears to listen to his whispers nor watch his body language. All we see and hear from him is sharia and soaking the dog and the baboon in blood.

Enjoyment1:
No insult intended...

Atleast I witnessed Shagari's civilian govt, talkless of the military regime of Buhari.

Its my own personal opinion...I used to like Buhari, until he became a politician. Before I go further, no one should mention any achievement during Buhari's regime, without mention Gen. Idiagbon. Idiagbon, was fully in charge of that administration, while Buhari is only receiving the praises today, becos he is the only one alife. It was when Idiagbon went for Hajj, that was when IBB succeeded. What does that mean?

Someone mentioned War Against Indiscipline and other achievements, and I ask, who started it? Was it not Idiagbon? Pls, note, I am telling you what we all went through, and not what my father, mother, uncle, or read from history books, as many are writing here.

This does not disqualify Buhari, becos with a good running mate, he can perform better. Even better than PDP led leaders. My problem with Buhari started when he became a politician.

Someone talked about PTF, and not stealing from govt covers. I wished I was using a desktop, I would have shown you the level of marginalisation in award of contracts by Buhari. It was 70% to the north, and 30% to the south. The records are there, pls. So, in place of stealing, he diverted.

I am aware of the above topic, but should comment like the above be coming from someone who wants to lead a multi-religious, multi-ethnic, and different group of people who were wrongfully married together by Lord Lugard?

Come to think of what, no sane would-be leader will speak in his local dialect after casting his vote in a national election (***check Buhari's comment after casting his vote in the last election in 2011***). The man openly spoke Hausa, with no interpretations whatsoever. What was the meaning of that? Was he vying to be President of Northern Hausa speaking Nigerians or Nigerians as a whole?

Just about two weeks ago. Atiku openly acussed him of being a religious bigot, and should not be voted for. Yet, he could not deny, or confirm it. What does that mean?

Even in our quest for peace, in North Eastern Nigeria, Boko Haram choosed Buhari, as their negotiating leader, and Mr. Buhari never said a word. Rather, he kept condenming the extra-judicial killings up north, and later cried foul, when thesame BH people tried killing him, in his convoy vehichle.

The case of openly telling Northerners not to vote non-Muslim during OBJ, is another careless talk, which is still fresh!

In summary, Buhari, needs to repair his image in Southern Nigeria, as his comments whenever he is amongst his muslim brothers, and general comments, are still fresh in peoples minds. Maybe when he is through, and he is not yet 100 years, he can come back and contest.
Case closed
Thank you sir!!
