boladet: Hey guys just thought to share this piece of information.
I have a close friend who has just had her baby in the US ,right now she is really upset as she was told her child will not have US citizenship unless the child remains in the US for the next 3yrs,. I did not know this is already taking effect, I thought it was after October 29th
False. And babies born after October 29th will not have to remain for 3 years to have US Citizenship.
POE at JFK has not changed. The questions asked should not matter as you should always answer the truth so no need to know the questions or rehearse anything. Just have all your documentation ready and know what you have.
TWoods: Let’s not pretend here. Your case is a tiny minority. Most here can not afford to have a baby in the US so they come here looking for the cheapest hospitals in El Paso and rooms on the cheap. Which hospitals in El Paso or even Houston demand to see your visa? Those are the folks the consulate is targeting. You got your visa approved, the rest didn’t. Speaks volumes.
You need to show your passport/visa upon registering at the hospital in El Paso.
ayinlaolajide: Hi Guys! Great thread here. I have read through and found answers to most of the questions I had except a couple.
I am planning for my wife to birth a child in El-paso around April next year.
1 . Is there anyone who has had a baby in El-paso recently (preferably 2019, at Dr Esperati or a better place, but not too costly) that would be willing to share what their ENTIRE cost looked like including flights, visa's, hospital fees (esp. hidden charges) etc.? I mean all the cost!.
2. Dr Esperati's total fees (incl. hosp costs) as on website is around $5,500. I have read some threads here of people being denied visa when their cost is less than $10k or so. Could this catch me later? I really don't understand this aspect.
3. Is there anyone looking to birth a child in el-paso around April next year? Maybe we can sync and share some costs. Thanks.
This is an arbitrary excuse that VO are using to deny Visa's, there are people that have paid upwards of $20k in other states and are still denied. If you wish to be billed more you can ask to pay whatever you wish in El Paso, both the hospital and doctor will accommodate.
TWoods: I disagree... again i would note that your responses are biased because this is your livelihood.
Why would an international patient pay the same as a medicaid patient? You and i both know that many hospitals and doctors routinely turn down medicaid patients because they pay far lower costs than the traditional insurance model.
I'm not biased, I'm trying to give you information. It's funny you think that traditional insurance companies, of all things, are looking out for what is best for the American people and is the model we should be following, this is coming from someone that should be biased towards insurance companies. Best wishes.
TWoods: I understand that you have to defend this as this is essentially your livelihood at stake. However, the whole point of the reduced "discounts" was strictly for US citizens who cannot afford insurance. It was not meant to be abused by non-citizens. That the government is slow getting around to removing this loophole does not make it justified.
This is incorrect. In terms of revenue (If this is the loophole you are referring to because no one is paying for their bills), international patients pay the same (actually a little more) than Medicaid and most insurance companies. Also, there is less paperwork since the payment is upfront and the patient is only seen for a fraction of the time of a US Resident goes to prenatal care. Im not sure who you are referring to is paying their discount because no one is paying us.
TWoods: the VO is simply saying that it makes no sense that it costs more for the average american to have a baby in the US than a foreigner. While you may argue that you did not get a discount, you really do not know how the system works and the VO has a much better perspective than you. It is very common for hospitals to charge self-paying patients far less than they would charge insurance for the same medical care. The reason is simple, nothing stops you from simply traveling back to your country without paying a cent of your bill... so rather than lose out, hospitals charge you a lower amount that they think you can afford - half bread is better than none. Who bears the brunt of the rest of the charges? Hapless US citizens who have to face a 30% or more increase in insurance premiums EVERY YEAR. You pay $7500 to have a kid in the US, that is less than half what many middle class families pay in insurance premiums every year alone.
The same discounts are available to US Citizens that are willing to pay non-insured self-pay package. We simply charge what Medicaid and most insurance companies would pay us in the end. What the insured patients see on their bill is not what we get paid... We wish!
justwise: Waste of money and time, you can't sue any embassy just because they refused you a visa.
The legal system is not only for suing but regardless, we are not into providing legal advice. Know your information, never lie, and please be polite and humble. Wishing everyone the best of luck in your interviews.
kamee: hello house, so i went to to renew my visa by drop box but i and my family (myself, hubby, and 2 daughters but the last is a citizen and ther was no one to leave her with) but we were asked to reschedule and appear. so fast forward to the vo asking question
VO - where are you going in the us and why WE - florida for holiday about 2-3 weeks VO - what do you do I - business and explains VO - faces hubby with same question HUBBY - work at a corporate office with detail VO - types and starts murmuring looks like he couldn't find any error on our document VO- turns to the baby and ask why she was not an applicant I - she's a citizen vo - can i have your receipts and did you inform the embassy of your intent we - yes we did and handed the intent later along side receipt and told him a total of $7500 bill was fully paid vo - so you got a discount we - no we did not, there's a zero bal inside the envelope stating we paid all there was VO - why did you get a discount I - was furious but kept my cool and said againg that there was no discount VO - kept insisting about the discount (infact mention it 3 times) like his mind was made up about the discount and asked what state we had the child VO - looks up and said NJ birthing bill was usually $17,000 so paying $7,500 was dicounted VO - -hands over the blue paper
you see, all we incured including uber, housing, feeding, scan, blood works etc was totalling $15,000. should we have added all these expenses as birthing?. When the hospital billed us as self payfor 2 nights should i have asked them to increase my bill? I really need closure to this rejection. if he had said that we did not make our intent clear from the time of application, that would have been understood. Hubby says we should move on and try uk cos we want to take the kids on vaca but i want to explore the usa more since that is where my business is sourced from. and i also feel that if we do not clear the air about this discount, we would keep facing it or what do you think guys? Do we stand a chance if we re-apply?
Get a letter from the doctor and hospital stating that the price is available to all non-insured self-paying patients (not just international). The letter should also state no govt funds (Medicaid) are used. This would contradict what the officer is saying and would be from the doctor and the hospital, which they can always call to verify (but usually they don't want to know so they don't call). If you are rejected afterward you will know it's bureaucratic racism, and not the "discounted price" some use as an excuse. In this sense, you would be in a position to do something legal if you wanted to.
The best advice is to go prepared with both documents ahead of time, and if they use the "discounted price" line on you, you have official documentation that states the contrary in the moment of the interview. Always, know the documentation you are carrying to the interview and don't just wait until they ask for it if they start to reject you for that reason. Best wishes.
Qei2u: What then happens with administrative processing They don’t verify anything..... really Renember the yoruba lady 4 yrs ago tall slim and a child with cerebral palsy delivered by you or you wanna deny that...... hmmmm Give it to howard, holycross john hopkins you will never be in their league If your company is not shady why should one person decide how much they pay a hospital...one pays 5k anoda 10k same contract same service fraud!!!!..makes no sence its not a charity Ur a dubious company hiding under american law
I remember that case very clearly since the patient came in with a Pastor to request a vaginal delivery on her behalf (the patient had had a previous CS and we do not offer VBAC). Unfortunately, we can not, under any circumstance, put the patient under unnecessary risk, regardless of who petitions the procedure. The patient decided she would not use our service and went to a doctor that, by my understanding, was recommended by the same Pastor.
It is extremely unfortunate that we did not have the opportunity to help the patient, but we are also not certain that the doctor she attended was at fault. What we are certain is that you should verify your information since both your previous post are filled with false statements.
MamaOO: Story for the gods! So you’re meaning to tell me there’s no way she can get the procedure done in the entire state of MARYLAND that she has to fly all the way to El Paso, TX? Spend $1000+ on a plane ride to come and do the procedure for $250? Dear lord, make it make sense!!!
You must think you’re conversing with fools the way you blatantly toot your horn on this thread. Smfdh
And just because you bought ads doesn’t give you no right to be obnoxious. And you are being obnoxious to the max! But do I blame you? No.
We don't expect her to come, we offer delivery, not pediatrics. The post is merely to put things into perspective, so people do their homework and know what things cost and everybody can make a best-informed decision, whether it be us or not. It is a reference point, not only for her but to all. If it does not help you to know you can get it between $100-250 simply ignore and pay whatever is best for your specific case.
Qei2u: @ the dr esparati Are u saying everyone that used ur hospital successfully renewed their visa??
Everyone here tells u avoid texas n virginia for good reason.
The victims can testify,am not here to attack your company ur not the embassy but i reserve the right to choose a reasonably priced hospital and keep to the terms of my visa,
Circumcission is an elective surgical procedure and they do it in theatre at this hospital not in a drs office hence the price.
Will i go to texas no,i dont have family there and i’d rather pay a high bill and have support than be in the middle of nowhere with nobody of course this may be a waste to some at the end of the day my money my choice my peace of mind
Unfortunately, I would have any way of knowing if all are approved unless they emailed me, can you say the hospital you are going to has not had any patients denied Visas? No, because there is no way of knowing. Plus, there have been a few that have posted here with high medical bills from "expensive" hospitals ($20,000+) that were denied their Visa. What I can say is that all our patients are given documentation that provides proof of indebtedness (itemized bill and zero balance letter) and non-use of govt programs (Medicaid) at the end of their delivery and they aren't told "we don't provide that" as many hospitals do.
Obviously, not all applicants that apply for Visas (maternity or otherwise) are granted Visas, since there are other reasons that are involved in this decision (proof of strong ties, proof of economic solvency, etc.) for which we have no control over. What I can also tell you is that we currently have patients from Nigeria and we routinely get repeat patients as well. Meaning their Visa 1.- Has been approved within the new Trump administration and 2.- They Visa has been approved after having their baby with us. Btw, our FB page just has a new post of a patient from last week with her second delivery with us (she included a picture of both babies ), you may see for yourself.
I can also tell you that no patient that has had an appointment with us has been stopped and returned back at the Port Of Entry.
Yes, you do "reserve the right" to choose whatever hospital you wish, at no time can anybody force you to choose one way or another, we are simply informing patients since I believe we have been here for the longest time and, once again, specialize in international patients. With regards to pricing (as you mentioned) we also bill you whatever price you are willing to pay with the minimum payment being the price quote on our website.
Regardless, I wish you the best, both in your delivery and your Visa renewal.
Qei2u: like i should travel to texas for circumcission Ok am coming
Traveling to Texas for circumcision is ridiculous! Unless you are paying $4850 in your State and you can get it for $250 or less in El Paso . Most of the time our patients are billed $100 - 150. We always quote the $250 (but not bill) so there are no surprises if the patient chooses a pediatrician that charges the $250.
All in all, we hope the patient finds what she is looking for. I think posting a price as to what they should be paying is doing all patients a favor so they actually know what price is fair to pay versus paying whatever they are told without knowing.
TripleKMama: They don't get the drift obviously. No mind dem. When I posted an offer for shared ATL accommodation to kill boredom, they raptured the post. Twice! Issorait.
I'm sure if you bought any ads, they would be more lenient as they have always shown to be with other companies for which we understand and have respected. If everybody advertised as you did, there would be no need for anybody to pay for adds.
The information for buying ads is on the top of the main page where it says "How to Advertise".
MamaOO: Yeah the ad has been up there for years. But the blatant advert is just so unnecessary. Imagine someone asking for circumcision in Maryland. Maryland oh! And you’re quoting to give her prices in Texas and not even Houston or Dallas, El Paso! Que??!
So she’s supposed to travel from Maryland to circumcise her son in Texas? This is actually very funny.
I agree it's very funny. More so, for the fact that with the price quote she got she can still travel (by plane) to El Paso, have it done and go back to Maryland, and it would still make economic sense. This is not adding the fact that they do not specialize in international patients and her total bill after delivery will most probably look very different from the ones she’s been quoted.
We try to post as often as possible because we later see all the hard aches that could have been avoided (as this seems to be another). If the help is not appreciated (which in this case helps save them $4600), the post can simply be ignored or possibly someone else can read it, so they are informed and do not make the same mistake. Regardless, I appreciate your concern.
iwuoahsamuels: Hello mums, Sorry not being following the thread after delivery, trying to bounce back. Pls what's this update on trump's ban against birth citizenship for mums. Is there any such thing? Pls can someone refer me to the facts of what happened and what consequences this poses for intending mums traveling to birth and return? I truly appreciate
There have been no changes in laws or the Constitution
Qei2u: Be careful with maryland hospitals and be in contact with someone that has used them
You can easily end up with a bill of $20k another $14k so ask well.
Some hospitals charge mother n baby room seperately, some charge epidural as dr n nursing fee, some charge c/s and surgron assistant for c/s so ask well o dont assume
Avoid texas esp overflogged hospitals not just gor interview but cbp too
tabso: Ok thanks Vlesparza. What do you also think of prepaying all as a proof for financial solvency at the embassy? Is this a good move?
If you are trying to prove you have money to pay for your delivery, prepaying is a good way of proving it since you have already paid. You may want to do this or not since you may be asked for it, or not. It depends on how much you are not willing to risk being aked and denied for this reason. You can prepay and still be denied for another reason like lack of proof of strong ties to your country.
tabso: Please who has an idea how much the minimum total cost of hospital bill that is reasonable for the visa interview. I got discounted price from doctores para ti - $5450, which I complained about, they however said I should tell them how much I willing to pay. I also contacted Holy Cross Hospital, Maryland, and the price they gave is $1500 for delivery fee and minimum $5000 for hospital apart from prenatal visit and sonogram fees.
Please are these bill ok to present at the embassy for visa interview?
Thanks
Doctoresparati.com will bill you whatever you want to pay with $5450 being the maximum discount, basically, you can choose your price so the price is not an issue at the Embassy if you want to pay more or if you think it's not enough.
Antyyve: Hello everyone. I am new on this site. Please will like to get a b2 visa to give birth in the US but getting a hospital which accept self paid services has not been easy. I guess I need recommendations from the doc to add to my docs. Please any recommendations on how to carry on. Precisely a hospital in Maryland will be best at a moderate prize too. Thanks in advance.
Mamalano: Good morning, I am planning to give birth in Texas this time around as I used NJ the first time, any experienced mum should please guide me through especially the accommodation stuff and I don't mind sharing an apartment.i planned travelling by August.thanks
Hopesprings: Thank you SO much for this post! This idea that discounted prices infer some kind of government subsidy is erroneous to say the least! And while the Embassy is well within its rights to highlight any criteria it sees for visa issuance, the truth remains the truth. Prompt pay discounts have absolutely nothing to do with any ones taxes. These hospitals offer these incentives to minimize their billing cycles and the potential losses from having to chase money after service delivery. I wonder why no one challenges the cash pay pricing given by the OB, Anesthesiologist, Pediatrician, even the Labs have discounts for people who pay cash upfront. This is not a foreign concept! Theres no denying that so many Nigerians have taken advantage of programs specifically geared towards the under served in certain communities but this is purely a case of painting with a broad brush.
ugee40: Hello all please im in need of a doctors appointment letter for visa interview and POE purposes..Can someone kindly help me out??Its kind of urgent plssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
nimcote: Goodmorning everyone, pls I have a question. I have seen on this thread that there are some red flag hospitals/Drs or states. Pls can I use doctores/El-Paso? Plus does any one know any good affordable hopital/ doctor I can use in Dallas, Newyork or LA? I am a first time mom and would really appreciate all the help I can get.
Both the hospital and the doctor at www.doctoresparati.com will provide the price quote you are willing to pay. The price on the website is the maximum discount that is offered to patients. You may, of course, request to pay more and you will be quoted and billed the amount you request.
