@Amalaeba

You need to spend more time speaking with Boko Haram people.

The section of the Bible you refer to was about a rich man with servants he gave talents to. Google the parable of the 10 talents or look it up on Wikipedia. Putrid lies do not change the fact that it is Islam inspired Boko Haram causing havoc. And I say this as someone who has 50% of my family members as Moslems.

Face Boko haram and fundamentalists because the mess being created once it explodes will consume millions.

Removal of fuel subsidy with the current state of play could be devastating to the economy.

Inflationary pressures would immediately kick in, potentially civil unrest if wages are not increased, more industries could be mothballed.

If GEJ wants to end his "regime", he should remove the subsidies without any economic cushions.

When you open the Book of LUKE 19:27", Jesus said bring them here(My enemies) and slay them before me" dont make noise please

@Cryingbaby:

Lifting a verse from the Parable of the rich man who gave his servants talents and twisting it is truly pathetic. The verse you quoted was about a story told about servants who waste their talents.

A bit ironic that you chose that story to twist as Northern Nigeria (specifically) and Nigeria (generally) are wasting the huge talents given to us. Cryingbaby - go and lie no more.

@Topic

Moslems are not to blame, but we can't deny there is a hard core group seeking to cause havoc in order to secure power.
Politics / Re: Islam: A Religion Of Peace by VoodooDoll(m): 12:29pm On Dec 31, 2011
A suggestion:

On Sunday, Moslems should protect and guard Christians going to church and on Fridays Christians should protect and guard Moslems going to mosques.

A similar method was used in Egypt but I doubt it would work in Nigeria given the level of mistrust.

@Manmustwac

Innocent Christians were murdered by cowards, that's a fact.  Innocen Christians have unfortunately been failed by the Nigerian State.

Nigerians (including innocent Christians) have chosen to stick our heads in the sand like ostriches instead of confronting the enormous problems we have. Our state governors, national assembly men and executive arm (including GEj) sleep at night undisturbed and we let them. So blaming God for this is wrong.

We can choose to strike for as long as there is insecurity

We can choose to march to the state governors house, but no we remain docile.
Religion / Re: Christmas Bombings: God Is Powerless! by VoodooDoll(m): 6:35pm On Dec 30, 2011
God does exist, but he has given man free will and choice.

Man repeatedly chooses death instead of life and then turns round to blame God!

Nigerians are perfect example of man consistently making silly choices. If you've warned your child to not play on the motorway but he chooses to play on the motorway, whoose fault is it when he is struck by a trailer?
Politics / Re: An Explosion At A Mosque In Maiduguri by VoodooDoll(m): 5:49pm On Dec 30, 2011
Boko Haram is now striking at will and with ease.

I find it hard to believe this is going on in a country that is not at war. If Boko haram is left unchecked then a civil war or coup is not far off. And all the talk of "it is not a religios or ethnic affair" will be of little practical value.

Can someone point to me two to three things the Federal Govt has done since 2007 that enables us to trust them.

If you are a shareholder and you have a spendthrift CEO that has run after many projects that yield no fruit but increase the company's debt you wouldn't like it. Moreso if the CEO is now looking to cancel all your future dividends but still has not presented you with a credible plan to spend the cash. Bearing in mind that the figurs quoted as dividend paid mostly accrues to a few and you the shareholder are still expected to finance capital raising and other cash calls.

@Nchura

This poster and another made a statement that can misdirect casual observers. These false statements are what dehumanises Nigerians. Statements like: "All xyyy are this" or "all abc are that". These statements are usually factually incorrect and are often used to imply victim hood or to denigrate people.

I think it is absurd that when innocent lives are being mourned people choose to use such sensitive statements.

My condolences to the victims who lost their lives simply because they choose to believe in the ability of the Nigerian state to protect them. We all need to be more vigilant and watchful.

N83bn is a little over 3% of our recurrent expenditure of N2,400bn

N83bn is less than 10% of Nigeria's N929bn security budget

N83bn is less than 15% of our N560bn debt servicing

N83bn is a little under 21% of our N398bn statutory transfer budget

Well, who needs a steel industry or jobs. After all the huge amounts we are spending on security means we are safe and secure, the budget servicing means we have capacity to borrow more and the statutory transfer allocations means the National Assembly and similar bodies are doing just fine.

ogbeche77:

Ghana has cut fuel subsidies following an increase in crude oil prices and the depreciation of the Ghana cedi currency, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana's National Petroleum Authority, Alex Mould, said in a statement on Thursday.

Reuters reports that Ghana, which joined the club of oil producers in West Africa last year, has come under increased pressure from the International Monetary Fund to remove the fuel subsidies. The IMF has urged countries across West and Central Africa to cut fuel subsidies, which they say are not effective in directly aiding the poor, but do promote corruption and smuggling.

The past months have seen governments in Nigeria, Guinea, Cameroon and Chad moving to cut state subsidies on fuel. Mould said the cumulative effect of the rise in crude oil prices this year and the about 5.7 per cent depreciation of the cedi meant a 25 per cent increase in cedi terms in the cost of procuring crude oil and petroleum products since January. Mould said Ghana had spent about 450 million cedis (N 44,725,608,210.76) on fuel subsidies in 2011.

The price change effective from December 29, will see the cost of Liquefied Petroleum Gas increase by 30 per cent while petrol and diesel will go up 15 per cent at pump. Mould said the NPA would be monitoring crude oil prices and will not to increase or decrease pump prices if the average crude price stay within the $ 107-110 per barrel range. Brent crude rose 4 cents to $107.60 a barrel by 0933 GMT on Thursday after falling nearly $2 the day before, while the Ghana cedi was trading at 1.6370/95 to the US dollar.

Ghana's Minister for Finance Kwabena Duffour said the removal of subsidies would have a positive impact on Ghana's economy.

By this increase, according to the NPA, the price of petrol to GNp175.48 (N184.972) per litre; diesel is now GHp 177.09 per litre ((N186.668); while LPG will go up by 30 per cent at GHp 136.19 per kilo (N143.765). This means a 12.5 kg gas cylinder will now sell at GHc17.02 (N1,796.76) while a 14.5 kg cylinder will sell at GHc19.75 (N2,084.96). The prices of kerosene, premix fuel and Renewable Fuel Oil (RFO) remain unchanged. Read 617 times | Like this? Tweet it to your followers! Families in the South West are tolerant when it comes to religion.

A man can be Christian but marry a Moslem woman. A Moslem man can marry a Christian woman.

A son or daughter may have a different religion to his or her parent.

All the above will occur without animosity, even if opinions differ.

A Moslem man may even help his family build a small church and vice versa.

I have heard that families in the North are not so tolerant.

Nigerians need to be more tolerant of each other and I think that's what the article was focusing on.
