No sir, wasn't me! cheesy

I have stated my position; Miracles are still with us but they are far much rare than purported
I have shared one
Here is something I have observed; seldom do skeptics witness miracles. I mean the rabid antitheist guy who demands a one-on-one Damascus experience is more likely to perish in their stubbornness

Miracles do not provoke faith in the haughty and the wicked, they increase their hardness just like Pharaoh. But for believers, they increase your faith.

There is a difference between seeking miracles so that you may believe and seeking them because you are a believer. Where do you fall?

Christianity Etc › Re: The Truth About Christ Embassy Healing School by vooks: 11:24am On Jan 07, 2015
They don't I agree. Some take the easier route; adoption. This one, they was praying and searching for solutions for five years.
There is everything personal because the lady is not some faceless person like you but a close friend and a then colleague.

I was not doing Sirjohn sleuthing, I never visited her gyaena nor obtained receipts and other evidence of her past medication. I just went to the word of God and sought to encourage her 'friend' who was really waiting on God for fruit of her womb. I gathered the verses prayerfully, shared with her and forgot about it. Around 7 months later she proceeds on Maternity leave and nothing registered on my mind. She delivers and finishes her leave. After resuming work she tells me that they were the ones looking for a child for 5 years and she concieved around the same time I shared with her the verses. So what happened I ask. They were low on cash following successive 'solutions' none of which was working. I say, glory be to God. You say, 'BS'

nnenneigbo:
This!!

Afterall In the beginning, the lady never told him, she was the childless one but that it was a friend. Childless couples, usually never give up too so was probably still receiving treatment anyway.

Books is taking this way personally. People tell white lies and I find especially when talking about miracles. See jabogje's hiv healing testimony for example.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Truth About Christ Embassy Healing School by vooks: 10:17am On Jan 07, 2015
my broda,
I find zero basis for questioning her account. You are straining it. What noise are you hearing from her narrative?

There is good old reasonable skepticism and then there is doubt for the sake of doubt. You my friend are in the latter not too far behind you is Frosbel
dorox:
Please don't make it about yourself, I have never questioned if you believe your account of the story to be true, it is the lady's account I question.
Too many times i have been told some fantastic tales by people who claimed to have experienced it or seen it first hand only for their story to change from the spectacular to the not so spectacular after just a few questions.
Once again my friend, I did not and will never accuse you of making the story up, I am only saying that people when faced with problems of that nature become very emotional which makes them to over emphasize certain aspect of their story while deemphasizing other aspects of the same story.
So unless you took your time to sift through the noise in her story before accepting it as fact, I would remain skeptical about the absolute truthfulness of her story.

Selling Mesages is not thesame as merchandising the gospel . In the bible days messages of prophets were copied and sold by scribes .

Messages of people like paul were highly circulated in his time . How did peter get Paul's materials ? How did Daniel get Jeremiah books to read? They bought them .

PaulGrundy,
In my opinion, the only reason you have hype around the miraculous is because genuine miracles are rare,so there is great temptation to go beyond what God is doing.

Let's say God heals a guy or two in a meeting. That's not good enough, you want everyone to walk home with a miracle, you start anointing them, pushing them, declaring miracles where none exist, demanding for miracles and so forth
paulGrundy:
I must say totally agree with all you said at this post except for the bolded. If you imply that real miracles are very rare, then jesus wouldn't have told his disciples that they would do greater works than him. There wouldn't have been any gifts of healing given to another as stated in the book of corithians. Since it was so rare, God wouldn't have given anyone the gift, he would have just done his thing, and then go away as he did through the prophets of old.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Truth About Christ Embassy Healing School by vooks: 7:48am On Jan 07, 2015
Am not taking credit for this miracle. I prayed, shared with her verses, and they prayed.
The people in white coats had five years with her and nothing came out of it

She says they had given up and were just praying while under immense pressure from relatives. dorox says, 'BS you have not given up, you are liars, I don't believe you'. Is this skepticism or plain mockery? At this rate you may as well ask me to prove that this lady exists undecided
dorox:
Hey vooks, I mean no harm with all my doubts and questions, I was only trying to demonstrate that in the instance you gave it will be quite difficult to prove even to yourself that your prayer hard anything to do with your friends pregnancy.
People say that they have given up many times only to save enough money for one last try. So until you ask her categorically if she was still receiving treatment when she got pregnant I won't accept her expression of a moment of despair to mean so.
You say it was your prayer, why can it not be the prayer and fasting she must have been doing all those years?
Surely, a desperate person like her would ask her pastor and other close friends to pray for her as well, could it have been their prayers and not yours?
I still believe that behind your miracle is someone wearing a white coat.

Thank you BabaGnoni,
Our Amateur Skeptic is behaving like a young student. You step out of lecture hall with new jargon, terms and concepts and you can't wait to bare them to the world. You actually believe you are the FIRST and the world can't wait to savor your 'wisdom'. The first time I heard about Sanguines and Cholerics, I used to profile everyone and everything around me trying to fit them into these personality types.

Liberal theology leads you exactly where Frosbel is; doubting EVERYTHING. You graduate from bible study to biblical studies. You quarrel everyone who does not share your doubts. At this point, only fear of stigma and doubts in your doubts force you to maintain the Christian tag. Next, you go full blown. You are now an atheist. Here, you spend a better part of your life fighting God who does not exist. You are an anti theist. You project your fears and doubts on believers, you want to 'win' as many as possible. This is the only way you have of reassuring you that you are right; converting others.

Frosbel, cut the BS and cross over. Fence sitting is for sissies and cowards

This is not a lab specimen but a friend. She tells me they had given up and I take her word for it. She told me this over 12 months after the act. The couple had over 5 years of 'multiple sessions' with nothing to show for it. You gotta try harder at skepticism. Study James Randi

Do you know for a fact that she was not receiving any treatment when you prayed for her? If not, how are you sure that it was your prayer that worked? Afterall it is common knowledge that for some women it can take multiple sessions before they can conceive.

They tried all things they could imagine for 5 years and came out poorer and with nothing to show for it.
In fact the funny bit is the lady used to be my colleague and she asked me for verses to encourage a couple who were seeking a baby.
I thought about it, prayed, dug into the scriptures and shared a few verses and I prayed them for a few days for her friend. I encouraged her to keep on praying the verses.

She went on maternity leave, came back and that's when she disclosed that she was talking about herself only that she felt a bit embarrassed to say so. Five years of trying and then after prayers she conceives? Prayer was the only variable. Conception happened around the time I shared the verses
dorox:
How are you sure that the couple weren't receiving treatment at the time you prayed for them? Moreover, have you considered the fact that a low fertility of a couple does not rule out the possibility of them to conceive, only that it makes it more difficult?
I would be very wary of calling their conception a miracle without knowing the full facts. I also know a couple that had twins after receiving fertility treatment on the advice of my sister.
The tale they told in church on their thanks giving day was all about how pastor prayed for them and nothing about the wonderful work of modern medicine.

My broda,
Miracles and Holy Spirit are different things. Miracles are far much rare than Pentecostals would have us believe. This is what tempts them to fake them and claim non-existent miracles

When was the LAST time you performed a miracle?
is this a mark of the rarity of the Spirit in your life?

Bidam:
By saying miracles ARE rare, you are alluding to the Holy Spirit being rare in the lives of believers. It is the Holy Spirit that does the Miracles through mortal men and the glory is ascribe to God alone not to men and that is why folks like Smith wigglesworth experienced such manifestations of healing gifts in their time.

GOD'S WORD® Translation Acts 10:38

If you are healed then you would not need medication so to speak.

There are people who believe in miracles like me, then there are those who don't and then there are those who are so desperate for one that they ascribe non-existent miracles to God.

I have witnessed a miracle firsthand when I prayed with a childless couple and they are proud parents. But I can say miracles are much rare than Pentecostals would have us believe. Plus, they are easily abused by heartless people to extort money from worshippers

Christianity Etc › Re: 'prophet' Suleiman's 2014 54 Fake Prophesies Debunked by vooks: 6:29am On Jan 06, 2015
Conditional prophecies are untestable; if it comes to pass, it was prophesied of, if it fails to come to pass, people prayed. You can never go wrong with these

The real deal are the unconditional prophetic utterances.
Here is the thing, unconditional prophecies cannot be stopped; they must come to pass or you are a false prophet
Under unconditional statements, we MUST dismiss vague statements or generalities which can be gleaned from contemporary circumstances. Examples;
1. Politicians bickering- this is guaranteed
2. Air crash- we MUST have some any year
3. Death of a member of a group- entertainers,politicians....at least one must die
4. Terrorist attacks- predictable based on the recent history say of East Africa or BH

The solution is to go down to specifics on these generalities. if it is an air crash, ID the airliner or the country and the casualties. For death, ID the person and so forth

With due respect to the men of God and Holy Spirit, these are not prophecies but intelligent guesses which can be made by ANYBODY without the Holy Spirit.

Prophets of 2014 use two escape routes to get away with failure;
1. God delayed it
2. God repented/changed his mind

Common scriptures include Hezekiah bargaining with God as well as Jonah. But the frequency with which these are invoked leaves us having a God who is indecisive, not sure what He wants. In Jonah's case, it took an entire city repenting to stem the imminent destruction. In Hezekiah's case, God simply healed him from a disease that could have killed him.

Can you help me then with the following questions, and please don't start with rigmarole, stick to the point ;

1. When did these people resurrect, v52, or v53
BOTH

2. Who did they appear to and how could these people even have recognised them seeing that their lives were over hundreds of years apart ?
They appeared to those in Jerusalem. This tells me they MUST have been known to them. If you died in Lagos and resurrected in Budapest, how would you convince those believers you was dead? They'd properly discern that you have been smoking weed cool
People who had been dead hundreds of years before could not be recognized by those alive. But did anybody say they had been dead 'hundreds of years before' or is this one of your peabrained strawman argument?
3. Where are they today ?
Same place where Lazarus and Jairus daughter are; dead cool

4. How come this news was not even mentioned as a rumour in Any historical document to date and not even by any of the Apostles including Paul.

Thanks.
I don't have ANY reason for their not being mentioned. Should we dismiss any account not mentioned elsewhere even as a rumor by apostles or any 'historical document'? Is this the standard for scriptures? Anything mentioned ONCE is of dubious and questionable origin? How many times are we told in the OT that Elijah is to come? Just one in Malachi 4:5. Did this fact prevent the Jews from looking forward to Elijah coming?

BTW, Ignatius in his Epistle to Magnasians mentions this very thing so it is your brains that should engage in decent scholarship instead of spewing garbage here all day.

Lazarus was dead for 3 days, Jairus's daughter was dead for a few hours, all in all they were within the limits of their life span. On the contrary those who were supposedly raised to life in Matthew 27:50-53 were dead for hundreds of years , how the hell could they have died again when many of them had already died of old age etc. Please make some SENSE here.
Who told you they were dead hundreds of years before? Is this found in the text? Go slow on psychedelic mushrooms cool

And what makes you mistake your puny brains for God's? Do you believe in the resurrection of the dead? If God will clothe the dead with immortal bodies, why doth it appear farfetched that he can clothe a skeleton with new mortal flesh?
See the problem with amateur skepticism?
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Wrote The New Testament ? by vooks: 3:44pm On Jan 05, 2015
The reason I asked you this question is because you together with pastorAIO dismiss the resurrection account of the saints in Matthew as a fable and your basis for this was they could not have resurrected BEFORE Jesus seeing He is the firstborn from among the dead.

frosbel:
Show us your evidence.

And ;

If these people did indeed rise from their tombs it means that Jesus was not the firstborn from the dead or the first to resurrect fully , since at the time these people resurrected , Jesus was dead.

Also there are no historical facts to backup this event, not even by a historian who was also a contemporary of Jesus by the name of Josephus Flavius , he did not mention this event and neither did any of the Roman historians of that age.

We need raw facts not assumptions and hearsay .
But this argument is only valid if you believe their resurrection is different from Lazarus and jairus' daughter and they came back with glorified bodies spoken of in 1 Cor 15 and the same as Jesus.

Could you kindly demonstrate your reasons for this belief that the saints resurrected in glorified bodies and not natural bodies like Lazarus

frosbel:
Let me try to answer you at a kindergarten level since that is within the realm in which you operate.

Jesus is first born from the dead because he is alive forver more, i.e death has no longer any hold on him, whereas the others were liable to die at a later date.

Do you see it is how unintelligent it is to dismiss a portion of Matthew recording the resurrection simply because you have no death records of the resurrected saints?

PastorAIO:
How do you know that they died later on? Please provide sources. Unless you are guessing or presuming based on your preconception.
I can assure you EVERYONE alive in the first century is long dead and this does not take a special revelation. I know it for a fact because human beings raised from the dead or not don't live beyond 150 years.

PastorAIO:
I don't, although I'm aware that Catholic's claim that the vatican is built around his tomb. I can't remember the name of the cathedral built on it.
