Some schools will ask you if the book is in the market, as in open markets. Some will tend to encourage you to push it into the market, please don't rush to do that. Once it hits the market and students are asking for it, the next thing you will see is that the book have been pirated. You go to schools to supply, they price you down, and tell you that they will get it at half the price you are offering them if they source from the market. And that's true.

It is not as easy as i have written here oh. From my experince, there are a lot to write about writing and publishing secondary school books but let me drop it here. I wish you goodluck.

You've done this already so I won't argue with you too much.

I will point out something nonetheless:

Your strategy might be effective but it is still targeting the wrong people and focused on the wrong objectives. It is centered around making a money/profit and as such, targeted at the individuals who are seemingly capable of guaranteeing this. I.e. targeting teachers and school authorities.

First off, schools and their authorities as well as governing institutions in Nigeria DON'T care about educational excellence students and high pass rates. They care about school fees being paid and lining their pockets. Period. Every administrative decision they will ever make will revolve around this objective. If the textbook is comprehensive, no incentive the author gives will stop some crook teacher/ principal or civil servant/ superintendent from pirating and benefiting without the author. You can take this to the bank.

Your business model may work initially for each school but will not guarantee a steady revenue stream over time.

Let me ask you something:

Who is the economic buyer here?
Who makes the decision to purchase the textbook?
What drives their decision to make the purchase?

Parents.

Parents want their kids to be super smart and to ace all their exams. They are GENUINELY interested in this. They derive great value from their children's educational excellence and progress. The student too wants to be good at maths and physics but are unable to make the purchase. If reasonably priced and properly marketed, the text book will sell like hot cakes and ANY parent with kids in SSS will buy!

Will this stop the possibility of piracy? Not at all. To manage this risk, go online. Simples. I don't need to tell you that this is the 21st century and most parents are online, all the time. Marketing costs will be low and value delivery will be instant. If you ask me, this beats printing a text book any day. If the author is satisfied with the online sales, he may choose to print a textbook edition subsequently. At this point, he would have not only benefited from the revenues but made a strong name for himself, like Frank Woods in Accounting.

You may be asking- what of copy, pasting and sharing?? Think about this, parents want their kids and their kids only to pass well. They aren't interested in their neighbor's kids doing well. They won't want to share. Besides, the author will not publish a textbook, he will develop a personalized tutorial that requires a full and interactive participation of parent and student.

Even if parents share this with their neighbors, not every parent in Nigeria know each other, and there are about 50million parents!!!

I have been teaching secondary school students and undergraduates physics and mathematics up to a decade now. Sincerely, I am so gifted in teaching and I have helped several average students have distinctions in both physics and maths. Alot of my students have come back to appreciate me and my tutorials have been recommended to their friends and family.
Presently thinking of writing a self-explanatory textbook on both physics and maths basically for secondary school students. Want to know how authors make their money and how much am likely to make from the sales of these books.

What you have is in HIGH DEMAND already...u even mentioned it. Why on earth is money the first thing on your mind?? It's a text book we are talking about here, not a technological feat that will alleviate the dismal human condition in Nigeria. There are many other people who can do what you do but if you can do it better, do it and your reward and recognition will follow easily.

My point is, don't make money your god. Don't desist from doing what comes easily to you because it won't pay you enormously first. Many Nigerians share your mindset and well....here we are.

Having said that, you won't make much out of publishing your work because it can easily be illegally copied and pirated. I assure u that u will never know about it, if that happens. Think of monetizing your skills by developing your tutorials into comprehensive online courses and target marketing them to parents ONLY. You will be surprised how much traction that will create.

This is not a an exact science or formula for wellbeing. You might not need to dry fast for seven days exactly, it could be less, depending on how severe ur situation is. Having said that, IT IS POSSIBLE for a human to survive without food or water for at least a week, given that he limits his activities and his health is in stable condition, even in the tropics. DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT BEING EQUIPED WITH THE RIGHT KNOWLEDGE. Read between the lines- use ur judgement, but with the right tools and knowledge.

The parable of the rich man and Lazarus is argued by many to be a true life story, because unlike others a character was named. There are several lessons to be learned from this wonderful story told by Our Lord and they include the following:
1. MATERIAL WEALTH IS NOT ALWAYS A SIGN THAT YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH OF SALVATION : contrary to claims of some prosperity preachers, this story comes to show that you being wealthy does not mean you are on the right path with God. The Pharisees of Jesus' time were money loving people who believed been wealthy was a sign your worship was acceptable to God. Wealth does not only come from God, you can get money from the devil, you can get money from cheating others , you can get from falsifying your scales, but good wealth come from God and more important to him is what you do with it, for to whom more is given, more is expected. Hence,stop envying those around you who are rich without following the way of the Father,for what lies ahead of them you do not Know and might not wish to partake in it, stop questioning God when you see a poor righteous man, for what lies ahead of him is the greatest that can happen to any mortal,remember the earth and its wealth is not our home, we all will leave here one day. 2. THE SIN OF THE RICH MAN
The sin of the rich man was not loving his neighbor like himself. Your neighbor is any one around you, whether rich or poor, male or female, believer or non-believer. Show all love and help all in need. Jesus did not accuse him of not helping anyone at all, he was accused of not helping the Beggar at his gate. So many of us today do the most abominable things to those who we feel are not in our social status around us, look around in churches and you can easily spot who the house girl is in a family, some rich families make their house helps sleep on the bare floor and eat spoilt food. O how vile the fruit we bear are! A tree is known by its fruit, does who produce sweet fruits are good and bad fruits are bad. So ask your yourself what sort of fruit do I produce? No, it is whatever you are blessed with. You are blessed with the gift of preaching,you preach far and wide but you do not preach to your children, siblings to change from their sinful ways. In whatever measure you have, give to the poor (those who don't have) for the Good Lord is a friend and lover of the poor.

THE BROTHERS OF THE RICH MAN
these are doubting Thomas. Those who have hardened their hearts and minds against life after death. They see themselves to be intelligent simply because they seem to differ. The live as though they will live forever. They say to themselves, look at all the money I have through my hard work yet this believer who claims his Bible told him he will be given all he asks for is poor. This is the ideology of the Rich man's brothers that is why the rich man requested for a dead man to go back to them because it is only then they would believe. To all who doubt the existence of an after life, we pray to God for their hearts to be open before it is too late.

A parable is a FICTITIOUS NARRATIVE meant to convey spiritual truths.

All Christ's parable were fictitious narratives in that they were not historically true. He was conveying spiritual knowledge meant for those with ears to hear and with eyes to see. In other words spiritual understanding.

There was never a real Lazarus, nor a real rich man. If Christ is the only one to have risen from the dead then Abraham's bosom should be a symbol for some higher spiritual item and not his actual bosom.

If u check for the meaning of name Lazarus, i think the understanding will begin to come to you.

The parable is about the KINGDOM of GOD and how it will be. All the parables are about the Kingdom of God and how things will be.

The rich man represents the house of Israel or favorites of God. God blessed them with his laws and presence. He made them spiritually royal (delicious living and purple raiment)
Lazarus (meaning needing help) represents the gentiles. God did not bless them with royalty. They didn't have his presence and blessings. They were spiritual poor and destitute, hence needing help. Spiritual neediness was their food.

Their deaths represent the end of the age.
Abraham represent the elect of God or the remnant of Israel chosen for the first resurrection (Revelations 14 and 20)
His bosom represents rest.
Abraham's bosom represents the resurrection of life of the elect.
The torment represent the resurrection of judgement
(Read John 5: 28 and 29; Daniel 12:4)

Rich man (Isreal gets judgement for rejecting Christ)
Lazarus (God blesses Lazarus for NEEDING GOD SPIRITUAL HELP or salvation) along with his elect.
Hence Lazarus resting on Abraham's bosom.

The brothers represent unbelievers who will reject Christ anyway. They would never believe even if Christ himself appeared to them.

The chasm (huge divide) symbolizes the separation of the sheep and the goat at that time. Christ and his army is the Chasm. They will be doing the separating. Note that the rich man was unable to cross over, but could communicate with those on the other side. It will be like this then. Those being judged then will see those enjoying life with the elect and feel terrible and mourn for the Lords presence.

The tip of finger in water for refreshment represent the thirst for the presence of God he once enjoyed in abundance.

May the Spirit of The Most High reveal all his truths to u. Amen.

Votukpa, from your write up, it's obvious you are smart and can express yourself very well. But, again that can be a drawback as well and this is it. Your whole premise is based on the fact that you believe in your thought process without giving the other person the benefit of the doubt. There are always two sides to a story and you heard from the guy's side, right, and concluded. Also, if you know the reasons people do the things they do? Watch "i can do bad all by myself". Always give people benefit of the doubt and understand that there are circumstances that drive people to some things. You don't encounter a babe trying to pilfer 5K from you one time and automatically conclude she is a thief, a LovePeddler, she is no good, she is bla,bla,blaa. As bad and as wrong as it may sound, there are some ladies (very few) that are doing what they are doing just because of their upbringing, lifestyle etc. See here, i once lived in a house in lagos that had a canteen(buka) at the ground floor. There were so many girls and women working there and they brought some young 17, 18 year olds from the village to work there as well. Their day starts at 4a.m in the morning till late at night. They sleep on the floor of the restaurant. The restaurant owner had a foul mouth and the way she insults and curse them, for any infraction, OMG, then ofcourse it's survival of the fittest with daily arguments of someone stealing another's money, bra, food, clothes etc. Then, again you have the customers, from bus drivers to conductors to office clerks, to construction workers, bankers, to you, daily making sexual comments about the girls, and some even physically slapping their butt etc... day in day out.... Now, imagine a 20 year old living in that condition since age 17, .... then, maybe her salary was stolen, borrowed, or requested by her aunt, whoever in the village etc and she steals 5K from this guy? So, my broda, sometimes if you know where someone is coming from, you will just give them the money, try to correct them and just move on. Long story short, do not conclude absolutely without knowing WHY..... also, stop making judgements based on what you think, know or experienced in your own limited life.... One love bro.
