Let's be scripturally accurate and have sound doctrine

Look at these 4 verses carefully.
Salvation = our souls/life getting saved. Saved from what? From death(sleeping and not rising again). Salvation comes definitively when we die by way of resurrection INTO LIFE with Christ. We INHERIT/OBTAIN salvation at the end (not the begining) -;look at that boldened verse 10 times.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved(being saved - Literal translation) through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

2 Thessalonians 2:13
But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

Romans 10:10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is (being - literal translation made) unto salvation.

Look at these 3.
The first says salvation is a gift from God and Jesus says we get it after this life when he resurrects us to life with him. The second says we were chosen to be saved and we are being sanctified/made without blemish(while alive), until salvation at the end (of the life in the flesh).

Look at it this way.
At the begining, you hear the gospel and the Holy Spirit convicts you of your sinful nature and you accept/agree with Him and believe with your heart that you need salvation(when you die) so that you won't resurrect into judgement after this life. This kick-starts your CONVERSION or SANCTIFICATION. Then over the course of the rest of your life, the Holy Spirit will be helping you put away all your sinful ways one by one until you are without blemish and ready for immortality or salvation. By the way, this is a HARD journey that will involve much suffering.

This is why I said salvation is a process/journey. There's no such thing as 'getting saved once' WHILE still in the flesh. Salvation cannot happen in the flesh because it involves literally putting away the flesh at death. Corruption will give way for Incoruption. Also, according to what u said, salvation comes when we make the decision... not quite so. Salvation begins when Christ through he Holy Spirit makes the decision. Look at what Christ did with Paul. Salvation is in His hands, not ours.
What happens in the flesh rather is a back and forth process/journey meant to burn off the old self or the flesh or sin nature, after which we really put off the PHYSICAL flesh at death. This is the road/process to Salvation.

Finally

Think of the Israelite nation going around mount Sinai for 40 years. They didn't get to the promise land until all the generation of people who left Egypt (excepting Caleb and Joshua) all died off. This a symbol of the life of the chosen faithful in Christ.

Consider.

Israelite nation = you and me (believers in Christ for our salvation)

Caleb and Joshua = our status as chosen of Christ and remaining with the faith until the end

Promise land (flowing with milk and honey) = Salvation or immortality or deathlessness or resurrection into life with Christ. Entering into our rest from the burdensome life of being in culorruptible flesh.

Going around mount Sinai for 40 years = journey of sanctification and putting to death the man of sin in us, hindering us from getting into salvation.

Meditate on this.

Read your Bible and get wisdom; salvation is a process, sanctification is a process, regeneration is a process. They all take time. Why do u think patience is a fruit/result of the infilling of the Holy spirit? The blood of Jesus is the solvent for sin BUT it takes time and a process. For anything that will happen over a passage of time, you will need a lot of patience, proving Indeed that the Holy spirit is working in you.

The OP is right on all counts. The theological line of reasoning on the part of the Christian brother he spoke of was in error. I was going through this thread and saw this your post and frankly it aroused a deep sense of indignation within me. I pondered for a while, whether or not to quote/reply it. If the entity you ascribe the responsibility to Inculcate innovation, growth and value creation (traits that are engendered in a atmosphere of a liberated and free mind) in the youth, you would be attempting to perform an impossible task- along the lines of sitting and standing simultaneously.

Education in Nigeria is governmental. It is mind controlled, or simply controlled. Ministry of Education. The Nigerian government still operates with vestiges of colonial framework of economic planning whicj has its educational objective to produce useful employees for a beuraucratic structure of production. In other words, entrepreneurship wasn't meant for the colony to imbibe. It was for the Masters to generate profit (from the colony/market).

Assess the objectives.

The objective of education in Nigeria is as described above. This is the reason why entrepreneurship training is taught after one gets out of uni and not during uni years. Admittedly, entrepreneurship is a spirit and, it like any other training that will prove effective in the future of any individual, it should be learned early and over time and not much later in life.

If Nigeria is to develop, it has to emphasize and reward value creation outside the educational system. It has to emphasize entrepreneurship education earlier on in lives of people (childhood). Will they do this? No. They won't.

It's not their their objective. Besides, too much money is being made from the status quo by the same governmental system.

Parents should train their children on entrepreneurship

Parents are responsible for the unemployability, self reliance and productivity of their children not the government.

Parents should Inculcate the thoughts and habits that engender and produce value creation abilities in their children, since their objective is for their kids to be self reliant and resourceful in the society. Every parent wants their child to prosper.

Train up your child in the WAY (entrepreneurship) that he should go and he won't depart from it later on in his life...

A bottleneck

This solution is idealistic, especially in the minds of many parents. They don't think their kids will prosper by building productive and enterprising skillsets from a young age. Why? They didn't have to do that. They had jobs waiting for them, based on their model of training and education. They are governmental so to speak and they can only teach their kids what they know- to be governmental. Go to school so you can get a job and make money.

We need a paradigm shift and it is already happeing.

It goes without saying that women who walk out of their marriage on account of infidelity or got knocked up by a man whom she isn't married to are prime examples of women who are very poor decision makers and are therefore unfit to be responsible wives; or were desperate for marriage (which makes them poor decision makers yet still).

So, why should any intelligent and rational male submit himself to picking up the pieces of a woman's broken relationship that she stupidly entered into and consciously broke? Why would any man want to be with a woman who brought forth a child in a marriage but couldn't remain in it inspite of the challenges; or a woman who easily spreads her legs open for premarital raw sex without thinking through the consequences and implications?

If a woman decides to walk out of a marriage with a child or had a child out of wedlock (worse) and any man agrees to date or marry her afterwards-she will never respect that man.

Summary; hear, read, believe and accept (and KEEP doing these) the words of Christ and DO them in order to overcome sin.

In his book, Tony Evans Speaks Out On Gambling and The Lottery, pastor/author, Tony Evans, says,

"Winning the lottery is not tied to anything but a thirst for wealth. It is not tied to God's leading or plan for you. It's not even tied to your needs. So what you are doing is asking God to bless nothingness. You are asking Him to bless getting money for money's sake. That's greed, and God won't bless it."

Nevertheless, like Evans, the majority of Christians the world over still insist that gambling and playing the lottery is a sin.

Jesus said, "Take heed that no man deceive you" (Mt. 24:4).

No man means no man--not your father, your mother, your spouse, your children, your friends, your co-workers, your pastor, the president, no one!

The way to "take heed" is by taking heed to what the Word says. It means to weigh everything someone says about God against the backdrop of Scripture.

If you live by the Berean Principle, it is not even remotely possible that you can ever be misled or incorrect about anything pertaining to God.

What Does The Word Say?
The easiest way to apply the Berean Principle is by asking yourself, "What does the Word say?"

When anybody presents anything to you as if it is coming from God, immediately ask yourself, "What does the Word say?"

Whenever you're in a situation and you don't quite know what decision you should make, ask yourself, "What does the Word say?"

When you're going along in one direction in life, whether in career or relationships or whatever, and someone comes along endeavoring to persuade you to go in an altogether different direction, ask yourself, "What does the Word say?"

You will always be on point if you will but simply train yourself to ask yourself, "What does the Word say?"

How do we know this? Because Jesus said, "the Scripture cannot be broken" (Jn. 10:35).

In other words, Scripture is always right about everything.

How so?

Because it is the Word of God.

And the sage of Israel insisted, "There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel, against the Lord" (Prov. 21:30).


Casting Lots
That being true, what does the Word of the Lord actually say about the lottery?

Observe:
"And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions" (Jos. 18:10).

The Hebrew word for "lots" here is gowral, meaning "pebbles."

"And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles" (Acts 1:26).

The Greek word for "lots" here is kleros, meaning "pebbles or sticks."

The word "lot" is actually the root word for "lottery."

So we see the patriarch, Joshua, and the apostle, Peter, engaged in some form of lottery.

After praying, Joshua cast pebbles to the ground to determine the will of God in the matter of who of the children of Israel should get what plot of land.

After praying, Peter cast pebbles or sticks to the ground to determine the will of God in the matter of who should take the place of the apostle, Judas Iscariot, who had recently committed suicide.

Many biblical scholars recognize the fact that today's equivalent of casting lots is the rolling of dice.

Actually, Joshua and Peter were gambling under divine direction!

Wealth of the Sinner
As it is written, "For God giveth to a man that is good in His sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner He giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God" (Ecc. 2:26).

Now exactly where in this day and age is the sinner gathering and heaping up all of this wealth; wealth that he will eventually be forced to give to those that are good in the sight of God?

That's precisely where the sinner is heaping up all of his wealth for you!

It's because the more money Christians have, the easier it will be to utilize that money as a tool to turn the world to God.

It takes lots and lots of money to finance the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

It also takes lots and lots of money for you to live "life, and that more abundantly" (Jn. 10:10).

That's why God wants you rolling in cash.

The scripture asks, "Do they not blaspheme that worthy Name by the which ye are called?" (James. 2:7).

The Italian mafia blasphemes His Name!

The Russian mob blasphemes His Name!

Hollywood blasphemes His Name!

Corporate America blasphemes His Name!

Rappers, rock stars and R & B artists blaspheme His Name!

They do indeed blaspheme the holy and reverend name of "the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" (Tit. 2:13)!

That is why Jesus said, "Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive ye into everlasting habitations" (Lk. 16:9).

The anchorwoman asked him what he was going to do with that money, the first thing out of his mouth was, "Well, I'm going to give $1 million dollars of it in Tithes to my church."

The man said he was going to break of a Tithe of $1 million dollars to his church!

He is a classic example of why the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

God wants to transfer the sinners' wealth into your hands because He knows you're going to honor Him with a portion of that money.

In Scripture, paying your Tithes and giving Offerings is called "honor." For this purpose, the richest man in history wrote, "Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase" (Prov. 3:9).

Hugh Heffner is not going to honor God with his money. He'll use it to spread more magazines of nude women around the world.

Jay-Z, D'banj etc etc is not going to honor God with their money. He'll use it to sell more profane records that promote violence and perversion.

NEWSFLASH: through gambling and the lottery, God wants to transfer the sinners' wealth into your hands!

For your health, for your children's education, for your monthly car note, for your rent/mortgage, for your 401K plan, for your membership at the gym, for your groceries, for your utilities, for your vacations, for your everything!

That's precisely why God wants you to go down to the casino or to the corner store and get those sinners' money!

4. If you do, for believers in Christ, seek the Lord prayerfully for direction to the spouse that is suitable for you.
5. Prayerfully WAIT for her to be shown to you. Many decoys will come, pretending to be the appointed one. Red flags are red for a reason. Don't ignore them. Focus on the one that is of God's will and not the one that is of yours. Your preference might be your plight at the end.

Men, don't forget.
You either need a wife or you don't. If you do, GOD CHOOSES HER FOR YOU. She doesn't choose you.

Following. For me, I think you should marry someone who doesn't give you stress, nor makes falling in love frustrating. A lady who has a lot of pride in her, is also a no go area if you want to have sanity in marriage cos you'd end up always having to beg her when there's a disagreement. That can be frustrating to any man. Once tried falling in love with someone like that and I was ready to make sacrifices to just make it work but the more I tried, the more I got frustrated.
