This is fast becoming a drama series. If I am in government, I will suggest we treat these guys as criminals and descend on them heavily. Otherwise, they will keep coming and get bolder. Don't make the same mistake you made with Book Haram and other Niger Delta militant fighters who became rich overnight at the expense of the government, Niger Delta people and society.

I really think this government is making efforts to diversify the economy however, the success or impact of such effort depends on several factors majorly influenced by the private sector and Nigerians at large. I think it is unfair to accuse this government of not diversifying the economy; it will take a while to achieve diversification despite the efforts.

I will also not really call his travels gallivanting, I will rather see it as efforts to improve our international relations and cooperation with several other countries and bodies. The result will gradually become noticeable.

Major importation of petroleum products are inevitable for now till we are able to establish new and standardized refineries across the nation. I observed that Dangote Group of Industries have started the building of a major refinery in Lagos, I expect other major investors, stakeholders in the economy and petroleum products companies to take a cue from such initiatives. They all seem to be comfortable with the importation, maybe because Nigerians have stakes in the foreign refineries.
I think the government is making efforts to deregulate the petroleum industry, especially downstream sector and I appreciate those efforts.

I think the major mistakes of PMB are:
The unreasonable delay in appointment of ministers.
The delay in budget appropriation hence, ineffective and poor budget implementation is expected.
Poor and inconsistent economic and fiscal policies.

I score the PMB government low on most parameters but I also think the government is willing and able to improve over time.

I think the problem is with the President himself; I you wanna blame surbodinates for lack of initiatives, you need to check if you are favorably disposed to initiative and creative personalities. I think PMB is autocratic and only listens to selected few.

I also think the underperforming ministries were largely affected by the timing of the budget approval and appropriation to law.

However, some of them need yo be relieved of their jobs because they are hopeless and lack quality value to add to government. Especially the old ones: Minister of Agric, sports, interior etc.

I can't understand why Bayelsa, Imo, Delta and Ondo states are owing their workers outstanding salaries. They earn oil allocation apart from the federal allocation. SHW!

Can you imagine those southwestern states: Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun. They all have outstanding salaries, I don't think they have any reasonable excuse.

I am not as particular with having any seaport in the Se as I am with having a very standard one in close proximity to the eastern region due to the obvious advantages to the east, which was why I gave the Ibaka example.
A waterway that has the capacity for much bigger ships and has a much longer coastline than Lagos.

OK. It has to be South-South then. Your description of Ibaka waterways really makes it attractive for a port proposal. I vote for a port in Ibaka - South-South. grin

If that is too far-fetched, ibaka in the SS is also a perfect option.
I wonder why all those people that want igbos to leave Lagos are fighting for a rail that Connects both regions.
It is time to put their money where their mouths are.

You mentioned Ibaka and also indicated that it is located in the South-South so that is a wrong answer. The question focused on South-East.

You mentioned Abia and I couldn't stop wondering if there is a sea near Abia. When you talk about seaport, you don't mean river port or poolport. It has to be a seaport which is equipped to handle ships of, at least, moderate sizes. Even Calabar and Port-Harcourt sea ports can not handle or accommodate some vessels. As popular as Lagos seaport is, it also can't handle some big vessels.

What did you do with education, even if it is substandard, Google is your friend.

Where did you see me calling Lagos no man's land. The point I am trying to make is the economic benefits that the Lagos Calabar rail line will serve. If it is to ship imported goods from Lagos to Calabar then the project is dead on arrival.

Nigeria is in big economic mess the right thing is to expand the economic base of the nation with the little resources the country can get .open up the coastal maritime economy of the Niger delta so that agricultural products from benue, taraba, adamawa, nassarawa can be evacuated easily .the loan should be used to build a deep sea port in Calabar and a rail line to the north eastern part of the country.

I didn't want to dignify you with a response earlier but when I saw this rejoinder you made, I felt the need to make a position.

Let's look critically at the existence of a Lagos - Calabar railine. It will pass through a lot of states where there can be stop overs and products, both locally manufactured and imported raw materials or unfinished goods, can be delivered timely, efficiently and effectively at less cost.

It is only logical to take more advantage of Lagos port because of proximity and the ability of the port to accommodate bigger vessels. Why do you think it is so convenient for ships to stop in Lagos rather than other ports in Nigeria.

Moreover, ships can also stop at Calabar ports too and the products can be distributed via the rail lines to states along the Calabar - Lagos route.

Have you thought of all the trailers/tankers falling and traffic on the interstate roads. Do you know how many heavy duty trucks move goods along the interstate roads managing the risks along such roads. Do you think about wear and damages to those roads due to the constant use especially by heavy duty trucks.

Your problem is basic - your thoughts are shallow. How could someone like you possibly think out of the box?

Nigeria currently has a minister of state for petroleum resources, not minister of petroleum resources - that ministry is supervised directly by the presidency. Perhaps that is the reason people take PMB as the minister of petroleum resources

This is not enough reason to allow the committee to box him into a corner. Giving dates in cases that presents a lot contingencies and factors, beyond Kachikwu's control, that can hinder his efforts. He will have himself to blame if this doesn't work out.

Hmmmm. This Kachukwu is really not a diplomat.

It is OK to apologize for hurting the feelings of Nigerians with the careless statement earlier made by him. However, I don't think he had to put an effective date to the solution.

Why could he not just say: we are working on adequate supply of petroleum products in the country and elimination of queues at the various filling stations across the country sooner.

Corporal punishment has been in practice here in Nigeria for quite sometime, I don't think Ogechi is the only student, even in that school, that has been subjected to such punishment.

However, corporal punishment can be excessive sometimes and that should be checked and discouraged. I believe the beating of Ogechi was cruelly done and extreme. The teachers didn't have to flog her directly on her backside, that can be interpreted as an attempt to inflict injuries on the victim in the name of punishment.

Given the situation at hand, I think the government shouldn't have removed the principal, vice principal and four other teachers all at once. This will affect the students and also the morals of the teachers and management of the school.
Some teachers may even find it difficult to correct the students especially when corporal punishment is necessary.
Replacing those teachers may be a major challenge too.

The government has not addressed the matter properly. I think there were better measures to reprimand the teachers and principals.
