4) no one who prayed for anything that actually required god's intervention had any faith

Because most of them are very aware of the fact that religion is a make-believe and no salvation exist anywhere and that God is a metaphor, sarcasm, simile or hyperbole. Pastoral duty for them is a means to an end, a career with its wonderful pecks.
