Your scenario is not appropriate because the hypothetical human father doesn't know whether his son will break his plate in 5 mins or even murder him somehow with the object. If he knew, or had the power to acquire the knowledge, he wouldn't waste his time or breath on the child.

This same line of reasoning can be observed in the behaviors of the lower animals towards each other, and sadly, at times, towards human beings.

As far as mainstream Christianity is concerned there are two destinations for dead souls, heaven or the suya factory where humans serve as the main ingredient.

Religion is the opposite of common sense. It's difficult to keep switching common sense on and off like a light switch. If you believe that there is a God who listens to your requests and grants them, there is no point in wasting time and money at the hospital. Its way cheaper to ask the person who created both the disease and the individual.

In your own daily life, what method do you use to find out whether people or things exist? Do you go by the number of people who claim to believe it or do you evaluate the claim on its own merits?
