There is this saying: "IT IS NOT TITLES THAT HONOUR MEN, BUT MEN THAT HONOUR TITLES." The lofty titles that decorate people in power have little meaning if there is a hollowness and falsehood underneath them. Such titles which adorn those in public office mean nothing if they are not original and are fake if those who bear them have no honour to support the weight of the titles they carry.
In situations where there is public doubt as to the veracity and authenticity of these titles and the claims behind them, it is the judiciary's role, when called upon, to uphold the honour of the titles through transparent rulings. Only through such judicial interventions can the public be protected from the tyranny of dubious and duplicitous characters and identity fraudsters.
In such situations, the judiciary has a bounding duty to protect society's value system. This is one of the obligations of an impartial judiciary in a democracy. The rule of law remains the lifeblood of democracy in all societies and by whatever definition across time.

With it, faith in democracy comes under threat as well. A society is endangered when the rule of the powerful and the rule of the rich and the mighty replaces the rule of law. When that happens, justice becomes a commodity to be traded between the rich and powerful and a cult of corrupt judiciary operatives. When a democracy is based on faulty justice, it opens society to apparent dangers. Governments become subject to impunity and casual violations of the rights of ordinary citizens. The rich and powerful can trample on the rights of the lowly, as there are no consequences for infractions or lawless acts. This can be the groundwork for a democracy to graduate into an autocracy.

SojWORLDWIDE: A suspected Yahoo Boy identified as Collins has been arrested for killing and slaughtering his girlfriend identified as Justina along Road 15, NTA Road, Port Harcourt.
Collins was caught by his Estate’s Security personnel when he was trying to dispose her corpse after killing and extracting her eyes and br+asts.
Following the alarm raised by the Security personnel, eyewitnesses stormed the suspect’s apartment and found Justina’s slaughtered body parts in sacks dripping with bl%od.
Justina was a 300-level University of Port Harcourt student before her premature demise.
A 300-level biochemistry student of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Miss Otuene Justina Nkang, was brutally murdered by her boyfriend, who is suspected of being a ritual killer and internet fraudster, popularly known as a Yahoo Boy.
The incident happened at NTA road, Port Harcourt, in Rivers State.
Miss Nkang, who hailed from Agana in Andoni local government area of Rivers State, was reported missing three days ago by her family and friends.
GRASSROOT REPORTERS' correspondent reports that her dismembered body was found on Wednesday evening in a nylon bag, as her boyfriend, identified only as Collins, was trying to dispose of it.
He was apprehended by his estate security and taken to his apartment where fresh human blood was discovered in his room.
The motive behind the gruesome killing is yet to be established, but some sources told our correspondent that Collins was allegedly involved in ritual practices and used his girlfriend as a sacrifice.
He was later handed over to the police for proper investigation.
Friends of the deceased and students of UNIPORT have expressed shock and grief over the tragic death of Miss Nkang, who many described as a bright and promising student.
They have also called for more security measures to protect students from such heinous crimes.

Omihanifa: Joseph Aloba, the father of Mohbad, on Wednesday, told a coroner’s court that the late singer told him his wife was “cheating on him another Marlian Records signee”.
Born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, Mohbad passed away on September 12 and was laid to rest the following day.
NAN reports that Joseph testified during a coroner’s inquest into the death of his son.
The inquest, which began on October 13, is taking place at the Ikorodu magistrates’ court in Lagos.

Joseph said he saw the deceased three days before his death. He added that he saw the deceased’s casket only in a picture.
According to him, Mohbad assured him that he would be able to handle his dispute with Marley. Joseph testified that the deceased’s landed property was in the custody of his mother-in-law. He added that the deceased often told him about his possessions held by his wife and her family. He claimed that Mohbad’s wife put sleeping pills into his food sometimes.
According to Joseph, his daughter-in-law had been unfaithful to the deceased.
“I shared 18 years together with my son, and he had no record of any terminal disease. I only took him to a chemist when he was 16 for treatment of rashes,” he said.
“I don’t trust his wife. My son told me she always put sleeping pills in his noodles and went to another room to sleep with another signee in the same house.
"Mobhad made efforts to reconcile me with his mother.”
He also told the coroner that the deceased bought a car for him after reconciling with his mother.
At the beginning of proceedings, the coroner commiserated with Joseph on his son’s death, promising that justice would be served in the case.
A Yaba magistrate’s court on October 4, remanded Naira Marley, Primeboy, and Sam Larry in police custody over the death of Mohbad.
