So, I want to build an Ecommerce website like Amazon, and I am at the research stage. I am still trying to see what works and what doesn't.

I have experience with WordPress. I can easily build a store with the right theme and plugins, and this will cost me less.

But the kind of store I want to build, I am thinking WordPress may be limited to handle it.

I want something professional like Amazon, or maybe Jumia.

With good dashboards etc.

For this kind of project, do you think I should rather hire a web designer or use Shopify in place of WordPress?

I don't want to start something now and later switch the whole of the website to another host again.

I would advise you to start small with Woocommerce or Shopify. In any case, your best bet is to hire an expert to build and blend things perfectly.

If you used a flip phone in those days and the flex didn't kill you, I don't know what can kill you again.

You see, the government isn't always bad. Sometimes, they do important things for the people, but the middlemen effect is the reason why we the masses don't get to enjoy those things.

A good example is the COVID-19 palliative issue. The minister kept stating that they have shared palliatives across the country, but everyone said she was lying, not knowing that the governors and the other middlemen involved are the ones who kept the palliatives for themselves.

As for the hospitals, poor management and bad maintenance culture are the problems. The equipment and the expertise are there.

The equipment in LUTH's diagnostic lab alone are cumulatively worth more than that. Medical equipment are crazily expensive. And hospitals like LUTH, UCH, and ABUTH has many of them. That's not including the cost of structures and other stuffs.

If you're in doubt, Google the cost of each of the following: CT scan machine, radiotherapy machine, MRI machine, tissue processing machine. Let me even help you. A CT scan machine costs roughly N250m, an MRI machine about N700m. In fact, a radiotherapy machine alone costs over N1b. So, get your facts right before posting.

I agree with you that the worth of the equipment stolen by the man is unlikely to be close to N1.2bn. But please, LUTH and other teaching hospitals in Nigeria are worth more than you think.

Stop talking out of myopia! If you've not achieved a feat, never assume other Nigerians haven't. Personally, I have at least 3 sites earning more than $500 monthly. I'm not planning to sell any for now, though.

I agree with the part where you said the OP should be careful to avoid being scammed. But that nobody has a blog earning up to $500 in Nigeria? Come on! That's even ridiculously low for some of my blogger friends who are also Nigerians.

Contrary to what the name suggests, the complex is far more than just a library. It contains a zoological garden, amusement park for kids, cinema, restaurant, events centre, and many more money-making ventures.

This Zoom thing is how one day a better platform will overtake Nairaland. I could never imagine a future in which Skype will take a backseat or become the second or third option. Apparently a lot of video streaming platforms were in the works and heavily promoted in the years I spent away from the white man’s land. This place with its lack of innovation will get swept like a thatch house in a tsunami.

Zoom became popular because it has its strengths in aspects that cater to businesses. And it rose to quick fame because businesses resorted to holding video meetings online during the pandemic. Skype still has its strengths, and after the pandemic when businesses return to their brick-and-mortar offices, we might not hear much about Zoom again. Another point you should understand is that the most feature-packed tech product or service is not always the most favored in the market. Ask yourself why Telegram has not toppled Whatsapp despite having more cool features. Ask yourself why Bing and Duckduckgo are still yet to topple Google in the search engine aspect despite both adequately addressing the issues users are having with Google.

Ruminate over the above, and you'd understand why none of the thousands of Nigerian forums created after NL has ever gotten anywhere close to it or ever will. I'm not saying NL is invincible, but that super contender that will overcome NL would have a hard nut to crack.

You don't necessarily have to secure a .ca domain name to target Canadians. Just find a cool .com and geotarget Canada in Google Search Console. And that's all you need to rank prominently in SERPs on Google.ca.

Using VPN's and taking shortcuts isn't worth it, especially for a new business that is still trying to build trust and credibility. Stay within ethical limits always!
