*cough* i'll pretend i didn't see that last comment. i'll take spoilt's and denex's cue and leave. |
Please go into your arsenal and bring up one of your argumentative tactics:Denex, i'm sorry but i just had to quote this for further emphasis. it couldn't be so farther away from the truth. |
Employ dualisation of meaning and ambiguation of meaning of the information in order to make any conclusion inspecific.another excellent observation. OMG so on point i was actually a little tempted to explain what i mean by "american nigerian" in details. lol |
davidylan:there's no such thing as the "real discourse" unless specified by the original poster. ![]() my initial posts on this topic were in response to the quotes i found interesting and my opinion on this topic in general. I don't see why exactly you have a problem with that. yeah there can be different cultures if a people of the same origin live in different locations. culture is influenced by environment you know. a nigerian in nigeria will be different from an american nigerian in culture. Deny that you are a jewnice observation. I thought i was the only one who noticed that tactic. a topic about muslims will all of a sudden turn into a random argument about highways. lol |
One thing that cuts across from your ill-timed contribution is that this topic is not about whether christians have been innocent but RATHER about countering the usual islamic attempt to put down the constant religious crisis in the north down to "tribal conflict" rather than the religious problems they really are.no. this topic presents an incident (title: "northern nigerian killer muslims at work again". content: article from paper) and invites members to give their opinion about it. the original poster did not mention anywhere in his post about the topic you just made up for yourself. ![]() i've made my contribution, and i'm off. . . |
I still believe the whole intolerance bothers on ignorance, misconception, racism and ethnic antagonism. I am very positive some people read the Quran upside down while some people read it but give it some twisted interpretation to suit their twisted imagination.I totally agree with you Grafikdon. same applies to pretty much every religion including christianity where people can read the bible and interpret it to suit their imagination or wishes/ beliefs. i have muslim friends from senegal too. it's so surprising how attitude of people with same religion changes with geographic location. but then these locations have different cultures and therefore, the way they practice their religion will reflect that. |
little tad of info: the catholic church/ Vatican city was in collaboration with the Nazi regime in eliminating jews throughout Europe. this is just an obvious reminder to show that no religion is without its own problem. davidylan:the fulani scenario denex used was just an example of the many tribal conflits that exist throughout the world among different peoples. don't twist his post. he never said tribal war was invented by the fulanis which is what you're inferring. |
what does hullabaloo mean? |
denex:i agree. although i prefer the term "ethnic clash" same difference i guess, no problem. |
Northern Muslims are just unmannered beastsyeah but you also have to keep in mind that that's what the West think when they hear news stories about violence in Africa (darfur, fights over oil etc). "Those unmannered primitive savages of Africa." Whenever I say the word Muslims,I always exclude the Yoruba ones.yeah that's because yoruba muslims have more in common (in terms of cultural attitude (you mentioned "flowing robes" as an example) / political stances) with their christian counterparts and even to an extent their igbo counterparts. unlike the northerners that differ from us in soooo many ways apart from religion. from my opinion, difference will almost likely create conflict. i don't think it's a matter of which culture/ religion is better than which. |
congratulations to him on the award. i wish him speedy recovery. what sort of a world do we live in? ![]() |

OMG that is disgraceful. nigeria disgraces me when i hear stuff like this. lol since when did women become criminals for the way they dress? more women need to join the nigerian police force. lol but seriously though, more women need to infiltrate the system and positions in those high places that pushed this ridiculously sexist suff. ![]() since when did sharia arrive in lagos? is there anyone at all who have said something on behalf of these ladies in the govt? these women don't even look 'scantily dressed." for a burning hot country (weather wise) like Nigeria, most of these women are FULLY dressed imo. what are they supposed to be wearing suits? ![]() debosky:i was thinking this too. |
