Evaowokotomo: Happy new year to everyone. May this year be a wonderful and prosperous year for us all. We intended to start building our home latest by may. We have the approval by the government to start already and we will start working on the BOQ by next month.
Happy new year. Too bad you got the approval just when the price of cement had gone haywire. I've had to put the brakes on an ongoing project after I was asked to shell out ₦4,000 for a bag of cement.
Anyhow, those who would still build will do so, even if the price gets jacked up to ₦10,000
HitlerGaddafi: Too many bad reviews about soko loan.
What you people actually don't understand is, if a customer refuses to pay back a soko loan, the money will be deducted from the salary of the staff that disbursed the loan. That's why they are so mean and ruthless. Sometimes they will even threaten you with police . The will embarass you by texting all your contacts including your exs and enemies.
How do they get the phone numbers of all your contacts?? That part is what I don't understand.
Gideon Orkar would choke in his grave to realize that what he complained about and died for had gotten much worse decades later. If he and his peers couldn't stand what was happening back then, imagine what would be their reaction now.
oluwaseunla: What year is this Sienna? I doubt there will be engine differences based on trims of a Sienna. So, no I don't think that statement is true.
oluwaseunla: Will have to test drive to be sure. If you are in Lagos, get in touch with the number in my signature.
Hello chief. Hope you can give me some useful tips on this: my younger bro wanted to get a sienna van for commercial transportation. He was on the verge of buying one when his auto technician friend told him not to go for XLE due to a certain engine type. That this spec costs a bit more to maintain.
As is the tradition now, every year, those of us who find the time and space do gather with our cars and have some fun, Volvo way.
This year's event held at Ilaji Hotels Ibadan.
The admirers should feed their eyes and for the wailers, pls collect a bucket each and make sure to deposit your tears in it, we need it to wash our Volvos
What I find amusing is how some people will actually cry and thrash over their dislike of a particular car brand, as if it was an unfaithful wife or girlfriend I also found out that, in the most part, people who are rich enough to afford any car of their choice don't have time to wail over any car brand.
Cars will serve you depending on how you treat it. Or, if one happens to buy a used car, depending on how the previous owner handled it.
Obviously a hastily made up response to the backlash from that silly, thoughtless memo. If it was originally meant for a particular zone as claimed, why didn't they include the name of the zone in the first memo, to make it clear?
The north represents everything shitty, silly and backwards. There is no society that progressed by gagging it's citizens. There are countless countries where government tried to cage it's people from expressing their views. Ultimately, thosr countries witnessed upheavals and surge in rebellion. North won't learn. Can't learn. They are incapable of learning. Which is why they believed removing history lessons from schools would be a great move. Same history that would have guided the future.
spyder880: I had advocated a waiting game, but developers are sometimes impatient and will need to spend that money before they lose it. But, do we see a future in this country where these prices will reverse significantly? So that we will not have to wait forever. A lot of buildings became abandoned projects just because people waited.
So my next strategy is to stock. I have turned some sections of my properties to stores where I will be packing lots of building materials like iron rods, plastic pipes for plumbing and electrical, wires, keys and locks, nails, binding wires, wooden boards, house finish items and even tiles. Just anything that will not expire in a year.
By now every adult should have learned something peculiar to Nigeria
1. When prices rise significantly, they hardly ever go back to the initial prices. A slight marginal reduction could occur, but prices will never go back to the original prior to the increment. 2. Building materials such as cement usually see a spike in prices at the onset of the dry season, usually from November. At first I thought that is what was happening, until the price rise became crazy. What this means is, don't expect any appreciable reduction until at least the beginning of next year's rainy season.
3. You can't rule out greed from dealers. I still can't explain how come there's a wide price disparity of cement across different states. Last time I bought at ₦3,500 per bag at Owerri about 2 weeks ago. Oga Spyder said it was ₦4,000 at Enugu yesterday. Other states gave prices ranging from ₦2,700 to ₦3,800 last week for even same brand of cement!
4. Nigeria will NEVER see any economic improvement at the rate things are degenerating, and with this headless FG in place. It is a dog eat dog situation. My brother was at the cement dealership lamenting how come prices increased twice in the same day, while one crazy dude came and bellowed at the top of his voice that he is ready to add an additional ₦100 per bag just so that the dealer can ensure his trailer load of cement gets delivered to his site promptly
hashtagged: No they are not achievements they are liabilities
Same way you have been a liability to your parents, correct? When you talk, do you consider the implications? Except you have been miserable throughout your life, then I can understand your resentment at being given birth to. Also, if your parents complained all through your growing up years that you were a liability and a burden to them, I can then have a clearer picture as to why you think children are liabilities. Further, if you're a broke ass and miserly and the idea of raising up and sharing whatever earthly things you have with kids you could sire fills you with dismay, then I might appreciate your stance.
Are you any of those?
Even wealthy people who decide not to have kids do adopt children and give them the best things in life.
ChimaAdeoye: There is a reason why roundabouts are used to control traffic at major road junctions in 3rd world countries more than traffic lights. ~` LACK OF CONSTANT ELECTRICITY !
Roundabouts don't need electricity to function and traffic will always move as long as people obey a simple rule~ Yield for traffic on your RIGHT Side!
If we remove these roundabouts and put normal T-junctions with traffic light or Police who will not be there every hour of the day or traffic lights that will break down after 3 months, we are courting trouble. The traffic that will develop as a result of failure of traffic lights will be out of this world. That is why i always prefer roundabouts to be made bigger to solve traffic problems, not removed totally. Or you build a flyover on that junction and solve the problem permanently.
Wrong.
It is yield to traffic from your left.
Except you are driving on the left side of the road, then you yield to traffic from the right.

slawormiir: Damnnn niggarrrr Isoright.... Not surprised though...am aware onions is gonna be cheap over there in the north
Southerners capitalize or rather take advantage of a situation to enrich themselves at every slightest opportunity... They increase the price of everything beyond what it is supposed to be once they notice or sense a looming situation just to make wealth...our own selfishness and quick money in this South is too much
There should be a price regulation or rather price control
Then try to do the same and realize what the actual problem is.
Sure, it is cheaper in the north because that's the source of the produce By the time you pay for high transportation costs, spend days instead of hours on the road, and settle the uncountable police and military checkpoints along the road....do you expect the price to remain as low as it was in the north? Plus, there is less harvest due to bandits/terrorists activities. Just few days ago you saw in the news how farmers are tasked by bandits before they can harvest their crops. A village paid millions as tax to bandits just to be allowed to harvest their crops.
Even that quantity of onions for ₦200 is expensive for Bauchi and the north in general. It had become expensive.
The way the different retailers buy it from wholesalers in the various markets is same way they would sell. Are you trying to say all the market women and street side vendors in Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Rivers, Imo, Delta etc all sat down, discussed and connived to increase the price of onions?
CodeTemplar: If true then this is a confirmation that the army are partisan entity. So they profile people and businesses by tribe? No wonder an Hausa man was behind the massacre at lekki.
Thanks, man. Keep your eyes on the ball. I was going thru the comments to see if anyone noted this. Why is the army concerned with the ethnicity of the owners of the businesses that were destroyed? How is that relevant to the investigation? Just shows that every single thing in Nigeria is messed up.
samuk: Why will anyone deny their heritage and then put in an effort to fabricate a history linking them to Benin. It doesn't make sense. Ikwerre can even gain more from claiming Igbo heritage in a multi ethnic state as Rivers because the millions of Igbos that resides there will always give them their political support not to talk of the wider Igbo nation.
There is no reason for Ikwerre to deny being Igbo today because they are in a different state and region, the fear of domination by other Igbo is no longer there as it were when they were part of the old eastern region.
All these denials point to one FACT, that is they were forced or coerced in the past to claim Igbo identity and as soon as they got their freedom from the east, they revert back to their original identity. This is also probably the reason they changed the names of their towns to non Igbo names after Igbo lost the civil war.
Who has the right to draw up the criteria of identifying an Igbo person, what makes someone an Igbo, is it by similarities in name and language? Can former president Gooluck Jonathan pass as an English man. Can Donald Trump be regarded as an English man?
The Scottish, Irish and Welsh people all have similar name and language as the English but don't consider themselves English.
Hehehehe. At the bold.... so where did you get this FACT from?
People just pop out to post incredible, bogus comments and label it as fact, with absolutely no data to support your claim.
Ikwerres said they aren't Igbos, so be it. What else is there to argue about? You bringing this wild theory you call fact is what I can't begin to comprehend. Igbos forced Ikwerres to be Igbos in the past? First time I'm hearing such mind numbing claim. Never read that shit anywhere.
PremzY002: I'm trying hard to understand what's happening here.
I still don't know why I hate football.
I only watch football so that I can have something to say when the LOUD guys are arguing about Messi and C.Ronaldo
Just shows you do not have a mind of your own. There is no crime in not being interested in football Yet you subject yourself to it because you're afraid of your peers.
Amotolongbo: #2500 is too high for a bag of cement.
A bag should cost less than 1000naira.
While we were importing, we know how much we did buy it. Now that we produce and export, see the price.
Does Dangote want to tell us that he sells Cement at the high price he sells to Nigerians the cement exported out of Nigeria? Cos it baffles me how he competes with cement producers outside Nigeria if he sells his exports so high like he does in Nigeria
Perhaps he is using our own money in Nigeria to subsidize the cements he sells outside Nigeria
Nigerians pay the highest amount than anywhere else in the world, for a bag of cement. The average cost of cement worldwide, is about $3 for 50kg bag. Even with inflated exchange, that is less than ₦1500 per bag. Countries that don't manufacturer cement don't buy it above this price. Nigeria produces it. But Dangote ensured that importation is banned, and he has a near monopoly on cement manufacture and sale. Next, he is targeting tomato paste. Then he will move on to the ban of noodles, pasta, and other commodities. FG is his partner in strangulating the country
Every little incident, they go to invite soldiers. Let's all then accept that there's no need for NPF anymore. Youths are disturbing in their domain, and the chairman wants to be praised for travelling 60km to invite soldiers for what ordinarily should be duty for the police. Silly bunch of lunatics.
obonujoker: Although Lagos State is still shabby ( Mushin, Bariga, dopemu, Ajegunle, Ketu, Agiliti etc), no state in Nigeria comes close...
Anambra is in the league of Rivers for now
And Lagos State last sensible governor was Ambode. This one there is a clown.... When Lagos gets another technocrat governor, you'd see what it is...
Eko o ni baje
I agree. Anambra isn't anywhere near Lagos. Oh, c'mon. All these buildings are 4,5 storey residential houses. Where in Anambra can be compared with, say Marina, Lagos, with it's many highrises?
Topics like these are just mischievous. There's no basis for comparison structurally, between the two states.
