BusinessRe: CBN Extends Stamp Duty Collection To Savings Accounts by whirlwind7(m): 10:40am On Jan 03, 2017

Fed up with this worthless government already.

It can never think about productive ways of creating revenue. Productive as in, make its citizens benefit from such avenues while remitting a mandatory percentage of it to government in the forms of taxes, levies and duties. No. It can't.

Instead, after paying taxes and duties on products and services, I am made to forfeit NGN50 when I deposit my net profit of NGN1,000 into my alawee savings accounts!

What crime did I commit for being a Nigerian?
PoliticsRe: Benin, Togo Affected By Nigeria's New Vehicle Importation Policy by whirlwind7(m): 10:28am On Jan 03, 2017
Agimor:
So we should jeopardize our economy in favor of others? More like displeasing yourself to please others.
Not really.
Its because Nigeria is so messed up, it can't get simple things right.
A good government would ask itself, "why does my people prefer to buy vehicles from Cotonou and Lome?"
With answers to that question provided, the government will make and implement policies that would make it much easier to buy cars imported through Lagos ports.

First all, the government of Benin and Togo don't charge import duties on cars until the cars are sold! The importer transfers the import duty to the buyer (mostly Nigerians) and this duty is remitted to customs only AFTER the cars are sold.

This practice makes it much easy for vehicle dealers to do business. No need for double and disproportionate taxation. No patronizing touts for short cuts. This also made it possible for those places to have the biggest auto market in Africa. It didn't happen by chance.

Nigeria is just cursed with horrible leaders who can never care about doing what is right. If I have a very big auto market within Nigeria, with competitive prices, why would I bother to go into another country to purchase a car?
Even many car dealers at Berger go to Lome and Cotonou to buy cars to be resold in Lagos. Have you visited the Cotonou park before? You can never cover the entire park in a whole day if you decide to walk around it and do some window shopping. Its just very huge. This is because their government made it very easy to do business there, and this resulted to many dealers.
In fact, a big percentage of them are foreigners, especially Lebanese. With the fact that the population of those countries combined is not up to a quarter of Nigeria, you should wonder how come Nigeria doesn't have the biggest vehicle market in Africa! That alone shows you that something is wrong with our import policy. But trust Nigerian government not to realize that.

I thought I would see a building either from Lagos or Abuja but hell no. no building from West Africa
You know how it is with naija.

If a building's actual cost is $50m, they will "pad" the costs to be five times the amount. As the paperwork passes each level of approval, the officials concerned will "cut" their own slice. By the time the contractors are mobilized, the amount left for the actual construction would have been siphoned such that only the mobilization fee is paid to the contractor (say, about $5m) The rest of the money has vanished into thin air at this stage. Construction work stops, nobody is made to give account of what happened to the money budgeted for the building.
A new regime comes in, and goes through the motion of probing the incident. After a few months, the "probe" is concluded with nobody getting arrested and made to pay for the crime.....and life goes on.

Truth is, Naija has got some of the most expensive buildings in Africa...on paper only!

Much respect to South Africa though.

Saying he leaves the rapist to God is like condoning his action. Laws are made for a reason. Quit bringing God into something you have a choice in. Typical black man mentality.

Bro, save your breath. Black Africa has no leadership. Just brain dead political jobbers.

When all they do is sit on their ass and wait for the next federal allocation to be diverted into their personal kitty, you don't seriously expect them to impact the life of those who gave them the mandate to oversee their welfare.

Its not called The Black Continent for nothing.

Some can argue that its all psychology. Some will say its black magic.
Whichever part of the fence you are on, the fact remains that a people are held down by what they believe in and ascribe to.
To see what works, if it were possible to bring a top team like Barca, Man U, or Real Madrid to play against that team on that same pitch, with same charm buried at the goal post, and the foreign team couldn't find the back of the net, then we can make a salient point for or against voodoo.
PoliticsRe: 2017 Budget: FG To Spend N100m On Kitchen Utensils For Aso Rock by whirlwind7(m): 8:17am On Dec 29, 2016
In Nigeria, in Africa, that's how we roll. cool
I mean, we are so rich, we can afford to spend hundreds of millions every year to purchase knives, spoons and forks! That's right!

Little wonder the outside world looks at us, and detests the very ground we stand upon.
See, it isn't Buhari or the present government's fault. We, the people of this cursed nation, are hell bent on self destruction. We run the sort of government that is so glaringly wasteful and non productive, yet, we are hoping that somehow, by an uncertain miracle, our quality of life will improve and transform for the better.

Can even the world's richest country, or the world's wealthiest individual spend a million bucks every year, to buy utensils and cutleries?? Do such silver wares expire and rot in a few months, that they needed replacement every year?

If Buhari has any atom of integrity left in him, he should tear up that disgusting budget and resolve to use his own personal, good old utensils and cutleries. Let him at least begin the change we hope he would bring, and shame his critics.

This sort of wastefulness cannot continue. Haba!
Are we so cursed that doing the right thing is absolutely alien to us??

I don't know how marriage laws in India operate, but...

This man is either extremely stewpid or extremely smart.
Stewpid, by falling for, and marrying his mother in law who is about twice his age, and more than twice her daughter's age.

Smart for taking advantage of a loophole in the marriage laws to legally straff his mother in law who he had a crush on, and now wishes to get rid of her ASAP.

Whichever be the case, his middle aged mother Inlaw must have the IQ of a housefly. Wonder how she would face her husband and daughter after this.

Our society is a product of what we make it.

In this country, it is every single individual for himself. Nobody gives a shyte about anyone else's welfare, even if the law demands it.
To think that billions are appropriated every year for "maintenance" of Aso Rock villa! There's even millions allocated to pay annual rent for this same building!

Don't be surprised that hundreds of millions are allocated every fiscal year for the renovation and maintenance of this same police building.

FamilyRe: Help Needed...intertribal Marriage! by whirlwind7(m): 6:48am On Dec 27, 2016
This has got nothing to do with her tribe. Its the way she was brought up, as well as the environment she grew up in, and the influence it had on her.

I'm not going to tell you to "manage" the situation, or hope for the best, or seek for intervention. You can't teach old dogs new tricks. This is is a part of her that will be extremely difficult to get rid of.
Don't say you never noticed some of this traits in her before you got married. You obviously married out of lust and infatuation.
Perhaps your not being able to have kids yet has aggravated her behaviour? That's possible too, especially if she feels your people are secretly mocking her.

If I were in your shoes, I will consider calling it quits with the marriage. Yes, divorce is not a crime. A peaceful dissolution, rather than constant strife, which might lead to a much nastier outcome is better. Accept your mistake and work towards getting out of it. Life is too short to have someone who perpetually makes you unhappy share the same roof with you.

Well, men better step up too o, guess you don't know women also have several tools they insert in their vj.
These tools have been in the market for a very long time. They are something portable the women can keep in their handbags and use whenever they feel like it. Those who can't buy them even use certain phallic shaped fruits or other objects to indulge. Largely, this has not been a real threat to men.

But shelling out some cool cash for a man sized doll is a different ball game entirely. The comparison is a bit lopsided. Any man who is willing to spend thousands of dollars on these dolls must be really dissatisfied with the women folks.

What I still find baffling....

With the fact that there's too many willing women out there who are in need of men, yet this company is thriving. It shows a disconnect.
Its either the women keep pretending, and are rather waiting on the men to do the chasing, or the available women aren't living up to men's expectations anymore.
I mean, why would I buy a plastic doll, when I can have the real deal with flesh, blood, heartbeats and real emotion?

Well, if a man's fantasy is to have intercourse with an inanimate doll, he doesn't have much expectation.
For women: The game has changed o! Better step up and give out. These dolls ain't smiling!

Just look at their faces below. They're not smiling at all. They look more determined to outgun the women!

My man! Long time Sir cheesy

Estates in Ogun will be costly o although it will sell faster because of closeness to Lagos, I think Oyo will be better for cost. I wish I can find honest people to partner with out there.
If you are talking about large tracts of virgin lands (say, up to 50 hectares) for residential estate purpose, you are bound to get them in areas in Ogun state, not far from Lagos.
Places like Ifo, Ota and Agbara, with immediate access to the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
About costs, well, I assure you that lands in these areas will be well within budget. The main headache is how to tackle the menace of omo oniles.
Virgin lands in the south west are way cheaper than what's obtainable in the south east.
I'm talking from first hand experience. If ever you think about coming this way, Ogun state, and not Oyo, should be your first option. A second estate might be located at Oyo, if it seem viable.

And who says a Tigerkenn estate can't be located in Lagos state?
I see how real estate companies are rushing to Ibeju Lekki. Because this is where most of the massive residential development for the coming decades is bound to be within Lagos.
Lands in these areas are still on the cheap, depending on distance to the expressway, the LFTZ and Dangote's new ventures there. Lots of estates springing up there still have plots going for below 1m. Those that have obtained C of Os are selling much higher than that.

John Dingell U.S. congressman in office from December 13 th 1955 through January 3rd 2015.
This is almost 60 years in Office.

Not only that when he took office in 1955 he was succeding his father who was congressman from the same district for 22 consecutive years .

There is more, in 2015 after he retired his wife took over as congresswoman for the same congressional district. She was reelected in 2016.
Keyword: Elected.

The folks you cited as examples were openly elected by their people to represent them. Once the law didn't prescribe a limit to how many terms they can serve in office, and the electorate is satisfied with their performance, then they can be returned to office via elections.
Deal with that.
The case is totally different with Africans who will cling on to power, and become despots just to subdue their people who are fed up with their misrule.

Welcome Sir, this is an estate I know you will love. As usual, I will allocate some plots for flats, some for bungalows and some for duplexes. I plan that there will be very few residents so that the estate will attract the right type of residents, so I plan for more of duplex plots.
You are yet to iron out this issue. It actually affected me when I bought a plot at the Ugwuomu Nike estate. Had to change the plot I earlier chose after you revealed that the type of structure I had in mind is not going to be sited in that section.
So, early enough, kindly state the type of buildings to be constructed on parts of the estate. OR, as someone asked or suggested earlier, make it freestyle.

One other suggestion I have is that bungalows and duplexes should occupy one part, while multistorey buildings containing blocks of flats should occupy the other part. Also specify the maximum number of floors to be permitted for multistoreys. Fix this early enough, so there won't be confusion, please.
