Hope the pledge was captured in this year budget? We don't want our president spending funds not appropriated |
So in other words, if Atiku and Tinubu had been kept in confidence of the ministerial list there wouldn't have been anxiety. Why do all these block headed journalists reduce serious national concern to the interest of inconsequential personalities whose stakes in the polity is not more than that of every average Nigerian? |
This is gruesome and heart rending , until we start holding these senseless bandits and marauders from futa jallon accountable for their crimes, the wanton killings of innocent and defenseless souls won't abate. Since independence, as a nation, we've stupidly acquiesced to their notion of superiority and docilely accept their sense of divine entitlement. They graze their cattles on other people's farmlands in the process destroying their means of livelihoods, whenever the people protest, they resort to killing and maiming. Instead of the authorities apprehending and punishing them, they sue for peace as if it's right to amicably settle the armed robbers and their hapless victims. The rest of Nigeria wanted independence, we had to wait for them to be ready, they won't go to school, we created nomadic education so teachers can follow them around as they migrate from town to town. They move their cattles on major roads even in day time , in the process endangering the lives of motorists and pedestrians and we dare not complain. This culture of appeasement must stop |
These people are either daft or too blinded by hate and ambition for them to be capable of any rational disposition. They should be aware that their position is untenable as simple majority applies to senators present at the time of election once quorum is formed. The clerk is not under the president and does not need the president permission to carry on with his constitutional duties so why are they calling for him for his probe? |
tola9ja:You guys are adept at deliberate obfuscation, only the willfully ignorant and complete illiterates would fail to grasp the import of Gej's analysis of yam and goat. In simple term, it means prevention is better than cure, take away the source of temptation and the problem is 90% solved. The cashless policy for example has greatly reduced the incidences of armed robbery, the E wallets tremendously reduced the fertilizer scams etc. Empirical evidence have shown that while there is the need to apprehend and punish offenders, it's not always an effective deterrent to criminally minded people especially in a clime like ours where there is an obvious lack of capacity, human and material, to effectively combat crimes like graft. Drug trafficking was a fringe crime in Nigeria until Buhari's regime executed the guys caught in the 80s, that seems to serve as impetus to those criminals looking for a way to easy fortune. They've been killing our guys caught trafficking drugs to Asia, especially Thailand and Indonesia since the 80s, that has not deterred our boys one bit. In Europe and America where crimes are better solved and criminals effectively punished , our boys lived large from proceeds of credit card frauds and those caught and punished never had qualms going back to the same crime. The problem was largely solved by inbuilt system that makes it almost impossible to cash in on anyone's credit card. In so far as there is a possibility of success, however remote, punishment would never deter criminally minded Nigerians from defrauding the state. |
it's obvious they were more prepared for parallel govt than real governance, busy energizing their base and preparing them on how to soak dogs and baboons in blood instead of doing their homework on how to move the country in the right direction. Propaganda aided their ascension to power but murderous tantrums and baseless Calumny won't deliver bogus promises made. Ordinarily, 2 weeks is too short for a genuine assessment of any govt but they are starting to reap the rewards of raising expectations beyond what's realizable |
Love the disgrace he handed Tinubu and the crumb chasing APC executhieves handpicked by the Jagabandit. That said, I am not really excited by the reality of this political opportunist presiding over the senate for the next four years, his antecedent as a businessman and a politician gives credence to the foreboding feeling that he would end up being a leader in the gang rape of our treasury. He can only be buoyed by the knowledge that he has gotten away with looting so many billions in the recent past |
Two world renowned thieves struggling to take over the driver's seat of the self acclaimed vehicle for change and probity O Lord, our destiny is your hand |
It's only in Nigeria that thunder strikes the same spot multiple times. Jimi Lawal antecedent is well known to many Nigerians, he was a fugitive from the law for many years until el-rufai , as minister of fed capital territory, brought him back from Britain and engaged him as a consultant. |
Since when has a once respected newspaper like punch turned into a ragsheet , offering their platform to every mentally disturbed to settle political scores with un-verifiable allegations and contradictory cheap shots |
In Nigeria we have hundreds of tribes, 3 are major tribes , Ibo, hausa and yoruba, however, the most powerful tribe in Nigeria is CORRUPTION. Members of this very powerful tribe have no specific domicile or geographical location, they reside in every nooks and crannies of this great nation, very cohesive inspite of their occasional public display of acrimony, money is their common language, avarice their religion. While the 3 other major tribes trade blames and stupidly dissipate energy running each other down, The Corruption tribe threat them disdainfully by appropriating their rights and collective patrimony. To fester their nest, they appeal to the base sensibilities of these 3 major tribes , recruiting supporters from amongst them in order to bolster their own relevance within the privileged Corrupt tribe |
Jesus gave freely so I hope their service would be free |
Jimi Lawal of defunct Alpha Merchant bank, the same man who defrauded depositors of millions of Naira and disappeared into thin air, the same man he used for his shady land deals as minister of the federal capital territory. A man who never graduated from any school in England but hoodwinked millions of Nigerians into believing he was an accounting guru with multiple professional qualifications. |
When modern lifestyle is subjected to the tenets prescribed by medieval literatures, there must inexorably be moral aberrations that only blind adherence to culture and religion can justify. Men like Yerima have mental and psychological issues |
He is the only leader in our checkered history with democratic temperament. It may take years of political maturing for us to realize his sterling qualities . 1) lobbying the national assembly with Ghana must go is now a distant memory. No harassment of the members and leadership with trump up charges 2) Not a single political prisoner during his tenure and the opposition was allowed to blossom 3) Press freedom and freedom of speech was guaranteed and unfettered throughout his reign 4) Absolute independence for the electoral umpire, not a single governorship election held during his tenure was upturned at the tribunal. Of the five conducted , pdp won only in Ekiti state 5) The judiciary operated freely and conscientiously without government interference and the judgment of courts respected 6) state of emergency declared in the North eastern states without usurping the constitutional rights of the elected governors 7) conceeded defeat graciously in the last presidential election, something considered alien in our clime Etc These are the credentials the naïve in our midst aggregated and labeled CLUELESS |
The man Saraki should fear and keep at arms length is Dino Melaye, he seems more ambitious and desperate for power than Saraki himself |
ideylaff:Jokes aside, Prof is one of the most brilliant minds in this country and anyone who has had the rare privilege of interacting with him personally and professionally would readily testify to his high intellect . The problem is that he is not cut out for the role Tinubu has foisted on him. He is not a politician and the role of a VP requires someone with clout and political sagacity. He would have made an excellent attorney general , reforming our laws to align with the demands of the 21st century. His antecedent as a university don also qualifies him for the role of minister of education. I am not sure he is equipped for the political intrigues the office of the VP requires as a necessity. |
dayo23:Qualifying for a position is not synonymous with meriting it Femi Pedro & co were harassed, humiliated to pave the way for Fashola emergence as Lagos state governor, whether Fashola performed creditably in office or not does not change the fact that he was a product of a skewed process. He was imposed and for 8yrs was beholden to his godfather whose personal interest was considered more paramount than that of the suffering masses of Lagos state There was nothing in his wife antecedent to suggest she merited her seat in senate. Her 4yrs in the house has been a complete waste in terms legislative participation, not a single bill introduced and articulated by the jaganbandit wife. Pls remind me of how she has ever championed a cause on behalf of the good people of Lagos west senatorial district. The daughter is not a market woman so I wouldn't know the criteria used in selecting her as the leader of the market women in Lagos state. I guess that position must be hereditary, one of the inalienable rights of the tinubu lineage Gej coming after him after the formation of Apc would look like a witch hunt for political reasons and don't forget that even as at 2014 he was still cutting deals with the govt on behalf of Oando |
applord:Hahahahahaha Osinbajo looks like a fish out of water, the next four years as a sidekick to President Mumu Bytes must feel like being sentenced to 10yrs solitary confinement |
NgeneUkwenu:Stop this beatification of a common criminal, a former drug lord, a money launderer , a political profiteer, a rent seeking godfather. You make it look like he is divinely entitled to some of these political positions, as if he gave up his birthright for public good, nothing could be further from the truth. He knows his limitations and that's why he's made western Nigeria his catchment area for looting and exploitation. Now let's examine some of his great sacrifices you are trumpeting here 1) in 2007 ACN was a regional party , bringing Atiku on board as the presidential flagbearer was an opportunistic decision taken with a view to exploiting Atiku ephemeral popularity as the man that truncated OBJ's third term agenda 2) In 2011, he killed 2 birds with one stone, gave Ribadu (the man with the details of his shady deals) the presidential ticket of ACN and treacherously went behind to negotiate a deal with the PDP to deliver the west , perhaps to secure an immunity from prosecution for the mindless looting of Lagos treasury 3) His ambition to secure a vice presidential slot in 2015 was truncated by Atiku, Tinubu, Kwankwaso ,Saraki and Amaechi who staunchly opposed his ambition. Osibanjo became his proxy when it became obvious to him that he was fighting a losing battle 4) only a greedy man would make sure he is succeeded in office by his cousin, imposed his wife as a senator, his daughter as iyaloja, his son-in-law as house of assembly member, another son-in-law as honourable member of fed house of rep. |
The unchecked oil theft culminated in the reduction of oil price? It's confirmed, Baba Kabiru is officially a retard |
otokx:The 105b is an obvious lie, Amaechi, the loud mouthed clown would have made a big issue out of it if there is an iota of truth to it. |
coldFLARES1:What the house passed amounts to an appropriation bill, he is not spending without recourse to those constitutionally empowered to approve. Look for other reasons to criticize |
Amaechi, who is in a better position to know the precarious state of Rivers economy , proclaimed gleefully on the eve of his departure that the incoming governor would find it impossible to pay workers salaries for months after his departure. He left the states without paying workers salaries for about 2months, the waste collectors were owed about six months and they decided to down tools thereby turning portharcourt into a mass of filthy landscape, courts and judicial offices left to rot away due to almost a year of closure, trans Amadi, Eneka and many feeder rds made totally impassable due to months of neglects and abandonment by contractors, traffic in the city is now almost comparable to that of Lagos. Is Wike expected to govern the state with his spittle? In authorizing the loan, the house promised to attach a breakdown of the details of projects it's intended for so the public can hold them accountable, moreso the loan is collaterized by VATS Revenue due from the federation account. Sd owe ourselves the duty to hold those in authority accountable for what they do with the commonwealth, but we do a big disservice to ourselves if we submit to cheap propaganda by the ill-informed and those bent on undermining the credibility of others purely for mischievous partisan purpose. |
The hurriedly scheduled meeting with the president was to forestall the inevitable, if the cards were stacked in their favour they wouldn't have bothered seeking the intervention of the president in what was supposed to be a strict legislative procedure. The scheduled meeting was strictly a partisan party affair that should not ordinarily interfere with the order of proceedings in the house. It smacks of sheer arrogance that these clowns expected the senators from other political parties to wait and loiter around whilst they sort out their party's internal wrangling |
They adopted the proceedings of the previous day, allowed Saraki to swear them in as a senator in his capacity as the substantive senate president and later staged a walk-out to address journalists claiming his election as the president was an aberration. They are obviously not serious, their excuse as to why they were absent is untenable as nobody prevented them from joining their colleagues in participating in the process. Heeding Buhari's call for a meeting is not mandatory and clearly not part of their legislative duty |
Needed respite for Gej and PDP, the focus of propaganda and demonisation has shifted to dissenting voices within. Always a wonderful spectacle to watch when dogs start feeding on each others intestines |
Mrs Tinubu- Saraki, our concept of change did not anticipate a rent-seeking , corrupt and a failed governor like you at the helm of our law making chamber. Your sacrilegious days at the helm are numbered Saraki- hahahahahaha Mrs Ojuyobo, it's you , your husband and your naïve supporters that got it wrong, when we said Nigeria needed change, we meant change of power from south to North. Our plans did not include having a northerner as the senate president who will be a puppet to a power hungry westerner with an overbloated idea of his own relevance at the federal level |
At present, I think APC would prefer Kashamu to Saraki as senate president ![]() |
modath:1) There is no immunity for the Senate president, he can sue and be sued in his personal capacity as Bukola Saraki. 2) You inadvertently admitted that PMB may actually not be able to stop the inevitable looting in the National Assembly 3) I agree with you that Saraki has no credibility, but you must admit the same thing afflicts almost all our politicians |
Everything seems to be working in reverse of the expectations of those who held high hopes that things would change dramatically for the better once their "no-nonsense" General takes over the mantle of leadership Boko Haram were supposed to start fleeing for fear of being crushed , rather , they've increased the intensity of their attacks and the massive push back achieved in the dieing days of Gej seems to have been reversed Political looters are supposed to be fleeing in droves, rather, they seem emboldened by his ascension, some like Nyako who'd hitherto fled the country to avoid prosecution willingly returned and we learn a reception is being planned for his return to Adamawa The courts, contrary to our expectations, are speedily dismissing pending corruption cases before them and issuing restraining orders against the police from further interrogation/prosecution of suspected political looters like Saraki . |
doctokwus:Echos from our recent past Dogs and baboons would be soaked in blood Rig and Roast We shall make Nigeria ungovernable We are going to form a parallel govt Sometimes We've got to accept that we win some, lose some, that our personal, group or sectional aspirations has to be subsumed in the collective aspirations of the majority. Constantly throwing tantrums, impugning the process and demonising the opposition each time we fail to have our ways only shows lack of integrity and portrays an inclination towards anarchy for selfish gains |
