Road and other infrastructure should wait for now, the new govt is more interested in implementing the N5,000 stomach infrastructure |
PassingShot:There was nothing wrong with the refineries yet we imported fuel all through Abacha's regime, they even imported adultered fuel (smelling so bad) towards the tail end of his reign There was nothing wrong with the refineries yet we imported fuel all through OBJ's tenure. Companies like Cakassa, Chrome oil battled with TAM all through the period. The moribund state of the refineries necessitated OBJ selling them off to Dangote and Otedola shortly before he left There is nothing wrong with the refineries yet kaduna refinery has not functioned for more than 20yrs, reason for payment of bridging Sometimes we forget that until GEJ came on board, you hardly get fuel to buy in the north except from those dispensing from surface tanks. As cheering as this latest news is , I see it as a ruse , a ploy by some cabal in NNPC to ingratiate themselves into the new govt's favour and retain their plum position by hook or crook. We heard the same cheering news when Yaradua came on board, he was deceived into reversing the sale of the refineries, a decision that has cost the tax payers billions of dollars needlessly spent in the never ending turn Around maintenance |
Unless there are fresh facts to support the new extradition request, then our court should treat the latest move by US and NDLEA as spurious and a blatant abuse of Kashamu's fundamental rights. UK has closer ties to the US, better legal system than Nigeria , if this case dispassionately reviewed 12yrs ago by two courts and they both think it lacks merits, why are we still harassing the man? |
They are not paid wardrobe allowance so they make do with the same dress they brought to the white house, obviously the children have outgrown them lols |
Hahahahahaha, they want the house to pass a law that would send all of them in the national assembly, without exception, to the great beyond |
How ironic, APC wants a preservative order from the court when in the last 2yrs as the party in power they failed woefully to preserve the integrity of the court, the judges, lawyers and litigants. Since the return of civil rule, Amaechi is one of the biggest beneficiaries of our judicial process and I dare say no one has also done more to bring our judiciary into disrepute like the clown from Ubima. APC in Rivers state should be ashamed of themselves for trying to use the instrumentality of the law to preserve their dubious status when they've denied thousands of innocent Rivers indigines that same right for at least 2yrs |
Antoinne:Like I wrote earlier, the situation in the northeast is worrisome and a serious cause for concern, but it's not enough to paint a picture of national anarchy. According to FBI, in 2013 alone not less than 13,000 homicides were reported in the United states, that's an average of 120 people killed per day, is that enough to declare the United states a dangerous place to visit? Last year, the drug war in mexico claimed more than 20,000 lives, why was mexico not declared a dangerous destination? They still have a whole territory in Columbia under the control of separatist and drug lords, why was Columbia not labeled a dangerous place to visit. Go check how many people die of drug related violence in Brazil every year or how many terrorist related death was recorded in Pakistan last year and see if the tag on Nigeria Is fair. You must realize that the consequence of this kind news cannot be palatable for a struggling economy like ours. With this kind of rating the cost of hiring expatriates to work in any part of the country shoots up astronomically and intending foreign investors are scared off |
While the activities of boko haram is worrying and gives a serious cause for concern, this stupid ranking is misleading and mischievously targeted at scaring away prospective foreign investors. How can nigeria, with only 3 states out of 36 under the siege of terrorist be considered more dangerous than Yemen, Somalia, Libya, Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan and many others still bogged down by civil and religious strives. These western powers pretend to be our friends while doing everything possible, including spreading false information, with the sole aim of wrecking us economically and make us into a nation that can survive only by their benevolence |
Charlie boy is old enough to realize that not every issue should be treated with levity, our anxiety is borne out of the urgent need to know the team that would be piloting our affairs for the next four years. We yearned for decisiveness and all We've seen in the last 3weeks is endless prevarication. Boko haram have killed hundreds, fuel is still been retailed at over N100 and just yesterday PPRRA announced an increase in the amount spent on fuel subsidy, we need people who can make official pronouncement and can be held accountable by the public . |
Anytime I read the sad news of the death of any of our young, intelligent, patriotic young soldiers in the fight against the virulent soldiers of Allah, I curse Shekau and his senseless, indoctrinated, Murderous followers I curse Yerima and all the northern governors, who in their quest to wrest power from the south decided to use religion as a tool by promoting what was then referred to as political Sharia I curse all those irresponsible men who believe their responsibility starts and ends with sleeping with a woman, put her in a family way, organize a naming ceremony and throw the children into the street to fend for themselves I curse all our political leaders north and south who believe the death of thousands of innocent souls is not more than collateral damages in their quest for political ascendancy RIP to our fallen heroes, may their death not be in vain |
Amoshin, can u imagine this albino lady trying to excite my mojo with her palms under the table, hahahahahaha, an impossible task, a feat even Aisha succeeds in achieving only twice a year |
Integrity is not all about spartan lifestyle, it also involve acknowledging the truth however unpalatable. For him to believe he won the elections on his 3 previous attempts is nothing more than grand delusion. He sounds like a man incapable of handling the truth if it's not in his favour |
nairabacks:With all due respect sir, only the uninformed would believe the trash being peddled here, there is absolutely no credence to the story. Our refineries have been moribund since the 80s with billions of dollars sunk into TAM with no appreciable improvement. This was what informed Obasanjo's decision to sell them off as scraps. Yar ardua came on board and reversed the sale based on the mischievous claim by Engr Yardua, the then Gmd who was bent on retaining his job and maintaining the dubious status quo. He promised to bring the refineries on stream in less than 6mths, a feat he could not achieve in more than a year at the helm. Rilwan Luqman tried to resuscitate the plants to no avail until Yar ardua's demise. Gej's regime invested a lot of efforts and resources into reviving the refineries with NNPC engineers always promising and forever shifting the deadlines for full rehabilitation. I see the same scenarios playing out all over again with this new regime. NNPC would promise heaven and earth, milk the process and still leave us at the same spot we started from. The best thing is to remove the subsidy, sell the refineries, encourage private investors to come in and build new ones. All these stupid stories are not more than the usual orchestration by the entrenched interest (the union, NNPC senior officials, TAM contractors) to maintain the status quo |
Religion used to be the number one opium of choice in this country , unfortunately it's been supplanted by political folklores. Methinks it high time we banned tales by moonlight and all related programs from our airwaves, the damage they do to our psyche is too enormous. Stories before, during and after election has kept us entertained to the detriment of real developmental issues |
To show you are a man of honour, collect what's due to you, take it to your constituency and sink boreholes , provide scholarship for indigent students. If you do that, you would have sent an unambiguous message to your colleagues that you will not be a party to the profligacy in the house and the insensitivity of our leaders at all levels of govt |
M4gunners:Bless you too Bros |
These ones are small misguided fries, he should give them the names of all the thugs they used during the last election. Those ones are the real menace |
A proper hand over and seamless transition would have left no one in doubt as to the true states of Rivers economy when Amaechi was departing. Quoting a "reliable source" and announcing some fictitious, unverifiable amounts in certain account is stupid and not tenable |
Any measure taken to curb corruption is highly welcome, however, the existing laws are adequate to take care of all incidents of graft and official corruption if well implemented, there lies the problem, capacity . Instead of these multiplicity of laws and duplication of agencies, all we need to do is strengthen the existing institutions, fund them well and make sure they are better trained for the arduous task of combating the hydra-headed problem. Reform of our legal procedure is long overdue, situations where technicalities are employed to delay cases and frustrate the course of justice must be discouraged, if possible, special courts should be set up to handle only corruption cases. With speedy trial that ensures offenders are promptly and adequately punished, a clear message is sent to the corrupt that the courts would know more be a comfortable refuge where cases are delayed while they continue to enjoy their loot |
Amaechi should be held accountable for the 4.5bn spent in organizing the sham election, money that should have been used to pay workers salaries and refuse disposal companies |
For as long as quota system, federal character and all other criteria apart from competence and merit are used as the basis for appointments and promotion of judges, the situation will remain the same |
What's to be gained by this unguarded statement to a foreign audience? Reinforce the notion that Nigeria is a den of thieves where corruption reign supreme? Someone should remind this man that the election is over and it's time to start delivering on his long list of promises. The first major financial scandal in NNPC was during his time as minister of petroleum, if they had put in place a transparent accounting system at NNPC during their time I am sure we won't be in this kind of mess we are today. |
What a conundrum, ran away during a "corruption friendly" regime and then decided, of his own free volition, to come back and test the resolve of a govt that has promised zero tolerance for corruption. |
How did you con him into believing you were a virgin? |
If they spend 50yrs rehearsing for madness one wonder how many more years would be left for them to burst onto the street with real malady. Enough of all these pep talks, roll up the sleeves and get to work |
These guys should stop sacrificing substance at the altar of populist symbolism. From his last outing as a public servant, we know how arrogant, obtrusive, contemptuous El- Rufai was. As the head of BPE he couldn't be bothered about public sentiments in the discharge of his duty. Fraudulently Sold Nitel to Pentescope, a company with obvious lack of resources and wherewithal to make the corporation efficient and competitive. Every effort made to made to make him accountable were shoved under the carpet. His efforts as minister of Fed capital territory are very commendable, but he carried out his assignment like he was above the law. Rampant disobedience of courts orders, demolition of properties without following due process, shady land allocations to himself, his wife, his families and friends. While no one should begrudge him the good fortune of being elected a governor inspite of his antecedents, he should spare us this insulting public display of humility and concentrate on the arduous task of delivering the much needed democracy dividends to the people of kaduna state |
kettykin:We know it's all a lie. ACN promised free education at all levels yet the tertiary institutions under their control demands the highest tuition fees amongst states run institutions They promised free health care services, not only is it a lie, Lagos states govt has been at loggerheads with doctors for the past four years for unfulfilled promises Aregbe gave free school meals, the consequence? The state's economy is in shambles They promised low cost housing, when fashola was tasked on it he angrily retorted that they should show him where he could source low cost building materials We can go on and on about promises made and hope raised and dashed. Our recurrent expenditure already takes away a huge chunk of our annual revenue leaving a paltry sum for capital projects. Add the huge amount expended on fuel subsidy , the war on boko haram and the huge amount needed to ameliorate the plight of the internally displaced person then you will realise how unreasonable the proposed scheme is |
Only a fool will be fooled by this latest bogus scheme with dubious intent. The whole jostling and clamour for power shift to the north is to re-establish the dysfunctional system of patronage whereby resource distribution is based on the manipulated population figures. More states and local govts already tilts resource allocation in favour of the north, this almajiri scheme would ensure more oil revenue flows northward. Only fiscal federalism would save us this constant manipulation by those who believe their sustenance as a people should be wholly premised on parasitic dependence on state resources |
Mrs Osinbajo- So your Buharatanshi has jetted off to South Africa, hmmm, learnt their girls are fire ooo, Pa may return home as a carcass oooo Aisha- hahahahahaha, No shaking madam, I am unperturbed, it rises once a year, every January first |
The same women shedding crocodile tears 2 days ago when some of the mothers of the chibok girls came calling, I am sure the memory and import of that visit is already lost, it's back to party time. The husband gallivants round the world while the wife dey Aso Rock dey host useless and wasteful dinners as if that's what they were elected for. I only hope they keep the invoices for all these merriment, we would like to know what's expended on food in their first year as compared to the last administration |
Potpourri of lies and fables well cooked and garnished by Tinubu and his rag sheet, dished and served in large quantities to the airheads and gullible who predictably would gobble it down , digest it poorly and starts fouling the whole place with odious farts. Apc have entrenched the culture of blackmail and demonisation of opponents for political advantage, this irreversible despicable course must surely consume its proponents one day |
AustineE1:I guess you are right, our cyclical motion and macabre dance continues |
