solla22:He was gov of old North Eastern region Minister of petroleum Head of state PTF chairman under the bespectacled tyrant He has always been government pikin with no other means of livelihood, in or out of govt we have every right to question the ostentatious lifestyle of any member of his family. |
Beremx:Since you know the family is rich, you must also tell us what they are into. These politicians deceiving us and we also deceiving ourselves amounts to double jeopardy. Let our vigilance be concerted otherwise they will keep on exploiting our division |
That wrist watch is worth a 100 cow, if Buhari declares more than 50 cows in his asset declaration form, then I would conclude the watch is an inducement for future gratification |
Beremx:She was a junior administrative staff in UNIMAID when the ex dictator met and married her |
I have lived in Rivers state for more than 20yrs and I don't think We've ever seen the kind of lawlessness, depravity, brigandage , impunity, arrogance as we witnessed under Rotimi Amaechi's govt. I knew he was reckless but never knew he could descend this low. A senior citizen (a former ambassador) from rivers state accompanied Wike to the govt house on Friday and the guy almost broke down while recounting to us what he saw. |
The Buhari advertised to us during campaign was an incorruptible man of meager means. They told us he has 3 houses, about 150 cows and paltry sums in his various bank accounts. We were even told he borrowed 27million Naira from his bank to purchase the APC form for the presidential primaries ( we would like to know the bank that granted that amount of loan with just a phone call and disbursed it with the speed of light so Baba could meet the deadline) . All these assets could be computed in an hour and made available to the public, they can even make provisions for the pregnant cows in their computation. They insult our intelligence by saying the form would be made available after verification by the CCB, once the declaration is made under oath it becomes an averment of truth for which any discrepancy becomes a crime. The verification by the bureau is an administrative procedure to ascertain the veracity of what he declared, the result of such verification either corroborates his deposition or disprove it, it won't change the content . It is therefore a lame excuse to say they are waiting for Ccb verification result to publish what he has already deposed to under the law Obfuscation is becoming a consistent pattern with our new president, simple task are deliberately made more complex than it ought to be. A man who contested the presidential elections three times and had ample opportunities of fulfilling the simplest task of obtaining his school cert from the appropriate authorities but would rather go through the rigorous procedure of deposing to an affidavit each time he contested comes across as either un -serious minded or disdainful of public accountability |
Very impressive resume, no doubt a man of high intellect, hopefully his brilliance would be marched by unimpeachable moral rectitude, decorum and fairness in carrying out the functions of this exalted office. Congrats Mr Ogbonaya Onu |
GoodGovernance:Two preconditions in the section you quoted 1) declaration of assets and liabilities 2) oath of office You need to seek clarification/ guidiance from those who have better understanding of constitutional provisions before taking up the challenge of informing/educating others |
franchizy:Are you saying we should not trust the vaunted integrity of the man at the helm of affairs to always do what's right? Federal might is not synonymous with reckless interference with states affairs. Wf have a tribunal in place, so let's allow them to make pronouncement on the validity of the gubernatorial election in Rivers state. For anyone to state unequivocally, based on his own personal but limited experience, that there was no election in the state is not only insulting to those who voted and rightfully believed that the votes counted. Taking the vacuous partisan ranting of APC members as the whole truth and nothing but the truth is quiet myopic |
Reference:I am all for bringing the best and the brightest on board irrespective of their ethnic background, but then the same principle should be applied to all public appointments, promotions and employments including admissions into all publicly funded institutions of learning. We should do away with quota system, federal character, allow merit in all spheres of our national endeavors. I know this may be difficult in a multi ethnic society like ours where every region must be carried along and made to have a sense of belonging so we need to find a balance where merit is not sacrificed and no region feels left out |
Reference:Gbam, you've said it all |

Emdee590:It's too early for a pity party, you lots should keep encouraging him with your support while you allow the cynics continue to raise legitimate doubts, with time and in due course, he either win over the cynics or lose your supports, whichever way Nigeria would be better for it |
bknight:Very sound and objective, thanks |
lastpage:Please let's stop Misinforming the public, the constitution makes asset declaration a precondition for every public servant to be sworn in. GEJ declared his asset as a deputy gov, gov, vice president and later as president as constitutional precondition for him to exercise the powers in the various position he held. To say he was forced by anyone to do so is not only mischievous but stupid. He fulfilled what was legally required of him and to impute any motive or cast aspersion on his integrity for not going beyond the constitutional requirements is silly I personally do not subscribe to forcing or demanding that public servants go beyond what is constitutionally required of them, if we want public declaration of assets, then we as Nigerians must demand for the constitutional provision concerning asset declaration to be amended to align with our aspirations. I believe the reason a lot of people are demanding for Buhari to make his assets declaration public is because he made a promise to go beyond the requirements of the law by giving the general public opportunity to have a glimpse of his worldly possession. This was done to bolster his image as an incorruptible man and endear him to the electorate. He owes the electorate the moral duty to fulfill his promise and I have no doubt he would fulfill the promise. Its too early for him to start losing the public trust |
booqee:Hahahahahaha the thing tire me ooo, the only thing not yet deodorized is his poo |
I will never subscribe to People playing politics with wanton and needless waste of lives and properties, one of the reasons I find APC's politics uncharitable, unsavory and reckless. If we had united as one in our support for Gej's administration in the fight against these murderous retards , I am sure by now the insurgency would have been a forgotten nightmare . National security is a collective responsibility of all and we are duty bound to encourage and support whoever is at the helm of our national affairs. That said, I will urge the new president to quit the grandstanding and empty threats directed at people who are prepared to die for their belief. He must first and foremost realize that the problem is not just the will by the military to deal with the menace but that of capacity , therefore, he needs to get proper intelligence briefing from appropriate quarters before charting a new course of action that, hopefully would eliminate the menace |
akanbiaa:And what's the difference? I see "office" in both designations and that makes it official ![]() akanbiaa:And what's the difference? I see "office" in both designations and that makes it official |
ddippset:He did creditably well in his first four years then got derailed by unbridled ego, arrogance and puerile tantrums. Right now what Nigeria needs are not politcians that divides us further. This is a time of healing and rehabilitation and that requires the right temperament from those who presides over our collective patrimony |
49cents:I agree with you, our collective loss |
dipopooo:Not even Amaechi can deny his influence in the four years he was the chief of staff, the reason he made him his Campaign director when he was seeking re election. He helped set the agenda for the administration and in driving the policy objectives to fruition. Compare him with Tony Okocha that came after him and you will get my drift |
49cents:Nnaji presided over the unbundling of NPplc and later the privatization, some of the companies that lost out later alleged he had interest in one of the companies that won the bid . When he was confronted with the allegation, he admitted having an interest in one of the companies but claimed his interest was disclosed even before he became a minister |
dipopooo:All the notable achievement recorded by Amaechi's regime happened when he was the chief of staff to the govt of Rivers state. The govt became rudder less when the guy left for Abuja |
mymissingrib:Yea, he got married as a Local govt chairman during Odili's tenure |
Olushauneddy:Nnaji was relieved of his post for alleged conflict of interest, no thanks to the vociferous opposition who would rather cut their nose to spite their face |
ddippset:The promised change should not be about compensation for electoral support from friends and cronies, it should be about delivering political dividends. Their compensation should come from enhanced security, 24hrs electricity supply, better schools, roads, hospitals etc if they are waiting to be compensated with political appointments then the motive of their change mantra is not altruistic. We have a lot of young , enterprising Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavors, they come with no political baggage and are not beholden to any special interest who can be brought on board to inject fresh ideas into governance. People like El-Rufai, Oby, Ribadu, Ngozi Iweala, Akinwunmi et al were all unknown quantities before they were brought on board and in their initial outings , performed creditably well |
tucky200:I listened attentively hence my observations, I am not sure you did, seems you were more interested in the military parade |

Very predictable responses |
Almost all our newspapers have turned into ragsheets, the downside of absolute freedom, loose professional oversight by the NUJ , barely literate and very uncritical readership who over the years have been fed and are now used to lies and propaganda |

i dnt knw why rivers pple so much like wike. He has nothing to offer
