Christianity Etc › 7 Questions To Help You Keep Your New Year Resolutions by winner01(op):
Have you made your New Year's resolutions yet? One day in, have you managed to keep them all? It's a serious question, since we know from bitter experience that New Year's resolutions seem to disappear faster than a cold turkey sandwich. Here are seven questions to help you think through your resolutions for the year to come.

1. Is this the right time? "There is a season for everything under the sun" (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

When I was running a squash league at the gym I went to, I discovered something shocking about how gyms work: they run on the membership fees of those who never attend. Only around a third of the paid-up members ever attended regularly and many of the no-shows had signed up in January. Gyms usually see something like 50 per cent of their new business for the year in January, but 80 per cent of these have stopped attending by the second week of February.

The reason for that is, in the Western calendar, January is not the natural time to make changes. We have not had a long break from our occupation; we have not had time and space to re-evaluate our lives. That usually comes in August, which means September is the real start to the new year for many people. So, if you are not feeling very resolved, why not put a note in your diary to make a resolution in nine months' time?

2. Are you ready for change? "Repent and believe the good news" (Mark 1:15).

The last time we moved house, I noticed that I found a lot of things about daily living annoying and exhausting. The silliest example was to do with our curtains. The previous owners obviously had a thing about fancy curtains with pelmets and pull cords. To open or close the curtains you could not just yank them – you had to find the cord, pull it to open the curtain, and then use the tie-back to secure it. I felt I was frittering my life away with all this cord pulling.

Now, though, I rather enjoy this routine. So what was different when we had first moved in? It represented a change to daily living, and change can feel exhausting even in the simple things of life. If you are going to change something this New Year, be ready for it to take emotional energy. If you don't have that energy, you might soon find change is just too demanding.

3. What will you stop doing? "Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10).

Many New Year's resolutions fail because we are just trying to pack yet another thing into our already hectic schedules. One of the most helpful writers on time management (which is really about self management) is Mark Forster. He notes that we fail to get things done because we never give a task "sufficient focused attention" and the reason for that is very often that we are over-committed. To do more, sometimes we need to aim for less.

So, if you have resolved to do something new this year, what are you going to stop doing to give you the space to tackle the new thing properly?

4. Will you be encouraged? "I never stop giving thanks to my God because of you" (Ephesians 1:16).

Management theory tells us that our goals ought (amongst other things) to be 'stretching'. That might sound like good advice, but when does 'stretching' become 'breaking'?

I am always wanting to improve my language skills, and I came across a great website called Duolingo. I wanted to do well, so I set myself a stretching goal for each day. Sometimes I made it, sometimes I didn't. But when life was busy, the days I didn't make my goal started to outnumber the days I did, until it petered out altogether. Then I did something radical: I reduced my goal to the minimum possible. It was very easy to reach, taking just five minutes, so every day I got an encouraging message 'You have reached your goal! Well done!' Net result? I am studying much more than I did – and on average I am easily exceeding my previous 'stretching' goal!

5. Do you have a 'change buddy'? "Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds" (Hebrew 10:24).

Something else that has encouraged me in my language study is a little feature on the bottom right of the page which shows how well my friends are doing. It might just be my competitive spirit, but when I see someone else is making progress, it encourages me to do the same.

One of the slogans for feminists in recent years has been "If you can't see it, you can't be it." In other words, for many women, if they cannot see other women being role models in particular arenas, it is much harder to imagine themselves in those positions. In fact, that is true for all of us. If someone else is doing the thing we aspire to in our resolutions, it is much easier to keep going with this new commitment. So find a 'change buddy' who will share your New Year commitment – and encourage each other to keep it.

6. Do you want to change? "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2).

"To live is to change, and to be perfect is to have changed often." This saying is usually attributed to the leader of the Oxford Movement in the 19th century, John Henry Newman. In another version it is attributed to Winston Churchill.

Both are pointing out a key truth about life: if we never change, if we are stuck in a rut, then we will never grow to maturity – and in fact we will miss out on the good things God has for us.

7. What is God calling you to change? "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:6).

For any Christian, the ultimate motive to make resolutions which will change our lives comes from what God is already doing in us. Change does not simply come through gritting our teeth and trying harder. Real change comes from being open to the work of change God wants to do in us by his Spirit.

I constantly find that the changes that stick and make a difference are the ones where I was convinced God was calling me to change and to grow. This has even been enough to make me leave the security of employment, up sticks and move to a different part of the country – on more than one occasion.

Perhaps resolving to listen to God for the change he wants to bring is the best resolution we can make.

Mexico
Leader: President Enrique Pena Nieto
Population: 125.2 million (120.1 million Christians)
Main Religion: Christianity (mainly Roman Catholic)
Government: Federal republic
Source of Persecution: Organised corruption/Tribal antagonism/Secular intolerance

The body of the 11th priest to be murdered in Mexico since 2013 was found in November, amid a troubling rise in religious discrimination.
Father Erasmo was a priest in the town of Cuyuaco, Puebla, in south-eastern Mexico. His body was found on an isolated country road several days after he was reported missing, with burnmarks and evidence that he had sustained head injuries.
Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) earlier this year accused the government of failing to uphold constitutional freedoms and to hold perpetrators of violence against religious groups to account. More Catholic priests and leaders were killed in Mexico in 2014 than any other country in the world, and CSW said criminal violence is having a "chilling effect on religious freedom".
There has been a significant rise in the number of criminal groups in many parts of Mexico, and a number of Catholic priests have spoken out against them. According to CSW, these groups kidnap and kill clergymen because they "consider churches an attractive target for extortion and as fronts for money laundering, and believe that church leaders pose a threat to their influence and aims".
The Catholic Multimedia Centre (CCM), which has been documenting attacks on priests in Mexico since 2010, said they believe that priests and other church leaders are targeted with the specific intention of intimidating the Catholic Church on a local and national level. As of earlier this year, CCM said that 520 priests were currently facing extortion or had received death threats from criminal gangs.

India
Leader: Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Population: 1.3 billion (59 million Christians)
Main Religion: Hinduism
Government: Federal republic
Source of Persecution: Religious nationalism

The rise of a radical Hindu nationalist movement has led to brutal attacks on Christians, including pastors and nuns.
Since the 2014 election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian Christians have suffered increasing levels of persecution. In 2015, there was a rash of attacks on pastors, churches and Christian schools.

Pakistan
Leader: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
Population: 188.1 million (5.3 million Christians)
Main Religion: Islam
Government: Republic
Source of Persecution: Islamic extremism

Christians face the constant threat of mob violence due to “blasphemy” laws which can lead to the death sentence.
In 2010, a Muslim co-worker charged a Christian woman, Asia Bibi , with “blaspheming” the Prophet Mohammad. While the Supreme Court put a temporary stay on her execution, Christians in Pakistan continue to face mob violence and imprisonment under the arbitrary terms of the blasphemy law and weak government protection for religious minorities.

Sudan
Leader: President Omar Bashir
Population: 39.6 million (1.9 million Christians)
Main Religion: Islam
Government: Republic
Source of Persecution: Islamic extremism/Dictatorial paranoia

Christians face the death sentence for “apostasy.” Last year, Christian woman Meriam Ibrahim was sentenced to death for “apostasy” after the Government refused to recognize her marriage to an American Christian man. Authorities imprisoned her when she was eight months pregnant, and she had to give birth to her second child in prison.
The government of Sudanese President Omar Bashir implements a harsh form of Sharia law, demolishes churches, bombs Christian communities and killsChristians with impunity.

Nigeria
Leader: President Muhammadu Buhari
Population: 183.5 million (89 million Christians)
Main Religion: Islam, Christianity
Government: Federal republic
Source of Persecution: Islamic extremism

Hundreds of thousands of Christians are facing massacre by radical Islamic terror group Boko Haram, the militant Islamist group who claim to have established a 'caliphate' (Islamic state) in northern Nigeria.
Nigeria is deeply divided between a Muslim majority in the North and a predominantly Christian population in the South. In the North, terrorist group Boko Haram seeks to expel all Christians from the area. Twelve of the northern states have adopted Islamic law, and Christians are frequently discriminated against in this region, Some of Its atrocities include: slaughtering, kidnapping, bombing and burning Christian churches, and inciting terror by kidnapping and murdering Christians.

Christianity Etc › The World Of Persecuted Christians In 2015 by winner01(op): 9:26am On Jan 02, 2016
Christian persecution has dominated the news over the past year. From the escalating chaos in the Middle East to the crack down on churches in China's Zhejiang province, it's been a terrible year for some of the world's most persecuted minorities.
"The level of persecution globally is at horrifying levels," Dr Katrina Lantos Swett, Commissioner for the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), told Christian Today. "It quite frankly stuns me that there has not been more outcry internationally amongst political leaders, opinion makers and most importantly on the part of ordinary Christians."
Every repressive government or ideological group is threatened "above all by sincere religious faith, belief and conviction," Lantos Swett said.
"People of faith represent the ultimate challenge to authoritarian regimes, because they freely proclaim they have allegiances more important than those of the nation state, and are very often willing to suffer the consequences of fidelity to their faith. That's the most terrifying thing to repressive regimes.
"And of course, on the flipside of that, we see that when we have extremist religious theologies in the form of groups like ISIL, who attempt to impose their religious doctrine and rules on those who disagree with them, their brutality equals and exceeds even the most grave secular dictators. So people of sincere and genuine faith and conviction find themselves on the receiving end of terrible persecution from vicious secular dictators, and truly vicious religious oppressors like ISIS."
With that in mind, we've brought together some of the stories that have stood out over the past year.

North Korea
Leader: Kim Jong-un
Population: 25.2 million (300,000 Christians)
Main Religion: Atheism/traditional beliefs
Government: Communist dictatorship
Source of Persecution: Dictatorial paranoia

North Korea has consistently been named the worst country in the world to be a Christian. Anyone who practices Christianity is subject to abduction, arrest, torture, imprisonment, labor camps and death. The North Korean government classifies families based on their expressions of loyalty to the state and places Christian families at the bottom of society.
Under dictator Kim Jong-un, the government maintains absolute control through the systematic repression of its citizens. According to a recent report by Aid to the Church in Need, of the 400,000-500,000 Christian population in North Korea, at least 50,000 are thought to be labouring in concentration camps, while tens of thousands of citizens, including many Christians, have defected to countries such as neighbouring South Korea, China, Mongolia and Russia.
The state has an iron grip on its citizens; any who deviate from the two ideologies of 'Juche', which points to man's self-sufficiency, and 'Kimilsungism', the god-like worship of the nation's leading dynasty, are considered enemies of the state.
There had been some speculation that North Korea was opening up after a number of religious delegates from South Korea were allowed to cross the border on official visits towards the end of the year. The Catholic Bishops 'Conference of Korea announced in December that yearly services will be held at Changchung Cathedral in Pyongyang on major Catholic feasts.
However, earlier this month, 60-year-old Canadian pastor Hyeon Soo Lim was sentenced to life in prison and hard labour after being charged with 'crimes against the state 'by a North Korean court. He had been taking part in a humanitarian mission to support a nursing home and orphanage when he was arrested in February. His family said his trips to North Korea–of which he had undertaken more than 100 since 1997–were never politically motivated, but the government does not tolerate any missionary or religious activity deemed to threaten the state's supremacy.
In July, Lim 'confessed' during a news conference that his humanitarian work had been a cover, and he had actually been using his trips to North Korea to gather information. He said he used this information in sermons outside the country in an attempt to drive the regime to a collapse "with the love of God".
Lim's situation is "emblematic of what's been happening in North Korea for a long time, "Lantos Swett told Christian Today. "We need to recognise that North Korea is one of the worst black holes when comes to human rights in the world today. It remains something of a prison nation state in which religious believers, and disproportionately Christian religious believers, are horrifically persecuted by the state."
"It's a terrible, heart breaking situation," she added. "And we very much believe that the world needs to step up its historically weak effort at shining the brightest of lights on the dark story [of North Korea], and bringing much greater pressure to bear."
North Korea has previously sentenced Korean-American missionary, Kenneth Bae, to 15 years of hard labour but released him early in 2014. Jeffrey Fowle, an American citizen, was arrested and accused of leaving a Bible in a club for foreign sailors in the northern city of Chongjin. He was released in October last year.

China
Leader: President Xi Jinping
Population: 1.4 billion (85 million Christians)
Main Religion: Atheism
Government: Socialism
Source of Persecution: Communist oppression/Organised corruption

China has been accused of a severe crackdown on churches, most significantly in the eastern coastal province of Zhejiang, where up to 1,700 churches have been demolished or had their crosses removed since late 2012.
This has intensified over the past year, and activists have blamed president Xi Jinping for introducing hard-line policies in various parts of civil society, particularly religion. China last year announced plans to introduce its own brand of national theology and in May 2015, Xi called for a curbing of outside influences. "We must manage religious affairs in accordance with the law and adhere to the principle of independence to run religious groups on our own accord," he said at a top-level government meeting. "Active efforts should be made to incorporate religions into socialist society."
Of particular concern this year has been the crackdown on human rights lawyers. More human rights defenders have been detained or are missing under two years of Xi's leadership than in the previous two decades. Many of them worked on behalf of churches targeted by the demolition campaign.
At least 10 detainees in Zhejiang remain in so-called 'blackjails', which have no legal status, and in which torture is common. Among them is Christian lawyer Zhang Kai, who has been missing since his arrest in August. He had represented more than 100 churches fighting orders to remove their crosses, and had written and distributed a 'Cross Activists Handbook' advising church leaders on how they can use China's own constitution–which guarantees religious freedom–to defend their rights.
"I've made up my mind: the most they can do is jail me. But if I stay silent, I'll regret it my whole life," he allegedly told friends ahead of his arrest.

Iraq/Syria
Leaders: Presidents Fuad Masum/Bashar al-Assad
Population: 35.8 million (300,000 Christians)/22.2 million (1.1 million Christians)
Main Religion: Islam
Government: Parliamentary democracy/Republic
Sources of Persecution: Islamic extremism

As Islamic State tightens its grip in Iraq and Syria, more stories of brutal persecution have emerged over the past year. One year on from the capture of the northern Iraqi city, a priest who was forced to flee Mosul warned in September that the suffering continues for Christians in the Middle East. "The world is losing Christians from Iraq. That is a big loss for humanitarian heritage," Father Behnam Benoka said.
"We left everything, we lost everything that we had." In February, more than 200 Assyrian Christians were abducted by ISIS militants from villages along the Khabour River in northern Syria.
More than 135 hostages have now been released, but in October, militants released a video showing the execution three of the hostages and threatened to murder those still in captivity if a multi-million dollar ransom was not paid.
There have been repeated calls for the targeted killing of Christians in Iraq and Syria under Islamic State to be named genocide, the latest of which came from the USCIRF. On December 7, it said groups systematically persecuted by ISIS–which include Christians, Yazidis, Shi'as, Turkmen and Shabaks–should be recognised as victims of genocide.
"The hallmark of genocide is the intent to destroy a national, racial, ethnic, or religious group, in whole or in part, "said vice-chairman Robert George. "ISIL's intent to destroy religious groups that do not subscribe to its extremist ideology in the areas in Iraq and Syria that it controls, or seeks to control, is evident in not only its barbarous acts, but also its own propaganda."
Lantos Swett echoed George's statement. "The blazing hot focus of truly existential threats against minority Christian communities would have to be the Middle East," she said.
ISIS has "engaged in the most horrific and barbaric acts directed against Christian communities: murder, rape, torture, enslavement and forced conversion under threat of death...They have made it very clear they want to convert, kill or drive away all Christians from their self-proclaimed IslamicState, so we feel quite strongly there is a case [for genocide]."

Indonesia
Leader: President Joko Widodo
Population: 255.7 million (36 million Christians)
Main Religion: Islam
Government: Republic
Source of Persecution: Islamic extremism

It emerged in November that around 1,000 churches have been closed down in the Indonesian region of Aceh since 2006, as part of a wider crackdown on minority faiths. A law was implemented nine years ago, supposedly with the aim of promoting religious harmony, but in practice it requires non-Muslims to obtain 60 signatures from people of a different faith as well as permission from the local authority before they can build a place of worship.
In October, Reuters reported that several churches had been destroyed after Muslim residents, including members of the hardline group Islamic Defenders Front, had demanded they be shut down.
According to a report by the Gatestone Institute, hundreds of Muslims torched churches in Sharia-law governed Aceh, and an estimated 8,000 Christians were displace by the violence in the region.
Police in one district allegedly used sledge hammers and axes to tear down the churches.

Chizzled06:
Maybe you're right. Maybe I have a slight inclination towards targeting Christianity more than any other mindless religion.
But that's because I was born into Christianity, indoctrinated into the mental shackles until I learnt enough about the world to realize it was all bullshit. That's right. I used to be you. And I continue to be surrounded by people infected by this colonial mental illness.

But then, every man is entitled to his delusion. And so are you.

Just so you know, there's something inside you that tells you right from wrong, and allows you to feel empathy. It existed before religion, and will remain afterwards.

Even after I lost my faith and found reason, my conscience stayed. So labeling religious as good, and non religious as evil, is plain ignorance.
Its almost impossible to find a christian that hadnt doubted his belief at a time.
God be my witness, I had serious doubts at a younger age even before i knew what atheism meant. I felt reluctant to go to church, what if all these isnt real, is this power really potent.
But I bless God for his grace in directing my steps such that i didnt find solace in evil.
And its not cos you were born a christian, even born atheists target christianity, worse still muslim turned atheists too. You only got what you wanted not that christianity is bull, and now, your past still seems to haunt you. Why not fully embrace your newly found "logic". And dont forget to show your peeps your newly found goldmine.
Its strange init? undecided.

The thing that tells you right from wrong, has it been scientifically proven with the popular "humanist" belief that "morality is subjective" . Did humanity reach a concensus to determine right from wrong, Where do infants learn evil, from the womb? undecided Does right has any universal guage? Why do youths prefer exhuberance and hate it when their parents demand accountability?
You're screwed right.
I see you've started your indoctrination atheism anthem. Dont worry, ive heared many others like marriage is a scam, democracy is a scam etc in a bid to get a non existent ideal environment. Its only funny that you dont think we were also indoctrinated with what you refer to as "good".

I agree that Right and wrong existed right from creation (at least, you are not an atheist who believes that conscience is as a result of a chaotic explosion) before the rise of religion.
And i keep saying religion is not the way, but God.
The existence of demons dosent justify the inexistence of the Creator, its just an excuse for men to have their way and remain unaccountable.
Maybe you should give me "rational" reasons why i should stick with one woman when i can have several sweet ladies or why i wont cheat in exams if it will make me succeed.
lol
It dont matter though, A hundred years after your death, the bible will still be consistent with the ideal human philosophy.

Call it ignorance, delusional, indoctrination or whatever.
The truth resurrected and couldnt be buried back then, What makes you think it will be buried today.
God is God.

I swear you're funny.

Your God, out of the 3000 others, is the one true God. All others are made up ones, all trying to distract people from serving the only real God, your God.

I get it. But don't you think it's funny that people of other faith will say the exact same thing?

"The easy confidence with which I know another man's religion is folly teaches me to suspect that my own is also." Mark Twain.

It's easier to fool a man, than to convince him that he's been fooled.
Reality stares at you. Its why you arnt in islams section.
Its 5000 gods according to most atheists and they arnt made up. I suppose you thought the demons that fell with lucifer all went into hiding.
We can do a little case study on nairaland for instance. The God that satanists, atheists, agnostics, spiritualists, alien believers, and nothing-believers like you are constantly against is the true God, ill leave you to determine who that God is.
No matter what evil or nothing sect you think you belong, it pitches you against the true God by default. Its why you uncontrollably talk against this God even when you claim to have the same feeling for other gods.
You choose evil by rejecting the good, you choose failure by refusing to suceed, you choose death by rejecting life. Its the default setting of the world created by God.

Now you have shifted from "evidence" to the"multiple religion" theory. Dont worry, its called conscience, it makes you conscious of a greater authority. You can fight it all you want. Religion is false, God is God

“The current intellectual assault on God in Europe and North America is in fact a specific attack on Christianity – the faith that stubbornly persists in the morality, laws, and government of the major Western countries. . . .The God they fight is the Christian God, because He is their own God. . . .God is the leftists’ chief rival. Christian belief, by subjecting all men to divine authority and by asserting in the words ‘My kingdom is not of this world’ that the ideal society does not exist in this life, is the most coherent and potent obstacle to secular utopianism. . . . the Bible angers and frustrates those who believe that the pursuit of a perfect society justifies the quest for absolute power.”- Peter Hitchens

"Those are other Christians. Not my kind of Christianity. They are not real Christians"

Exactly what this post is about. I'm not blaming you for their crimes. Just putting things into context to make you understand things from a honest Muslim's perspective.

All religions are delusions. Including yours. Organised religion is manipulative and ultimately harmful in its worst form.

But hating a religion doesn't mean I should hate its followers. They are the real victims.
Say what you will but we have a standard which is Jesus Christ.
Anybody can claim to be christian, and still desperately go against God.
mormons, Jws, catholics all claim to be christian when their beliefs are vividly different from the teachings of Christ.
Satanists have churches, even atheists now have mega-churches. I dont see any one of these people create a "mosque or shrine" for their "beliefs" or "unbelief", people who supposedly are against "religion".
Could it be in a bid to seperate the christians from Christ.

Only one who isnt grounded in the scriptures wont understand what is really going on.

Y'all say you're against religion but your heart says differently.
Turns out your hearts have been quickened to rebel against the one true God.
I know its beyond your control, if this is not proof of supernatural demonic posession then i dont know what is.

If really "all religions are delusional" like you say, then prove it, balance the hate.
Prove that you physically have the capacity to break away from demonic posession, prove that you can contend with evil and prevail.

This God, your God, Our God is the true God.
There is darkness and light, good and evil, life and death. You get to choose because of your freewill. There is no sitting on the fence. Choose life, that you might live.

Happy new year in advance.

Firstly change the topic to catholicisms violent past.

Secondly, christians are (People like Christ, i.e Christ-like) People who strive to be like Christ.
Well, we all know the kind of life Christ lived and so we can judge who was working for whom.

Thirdly and more interestingly, chizzled06 is not an atheist (at least, according to what he told me) He belongs to "somewhere" hes not really sure of.
But why is he against christianity (as vivid in some of his other posts), isnt it funny considering the fact that he's not an atheist undecided.

Atheists against christianity
spiritualists against christianity
Satanists against christianity
Solipsists against christianity
Deists will tell u "any god but the God of christianity"
Even People like ifeness who believe aliens are responsible for humanity are also against christianity.

Hell, these people claim to be against religion, not just christianity, but it gets clearer whom their hearts are quickened against.

And that really got me thinking, Could Christianity be the only threat to unaccountability, self worship, evil and insanity.

Its seems to be some sort of "great wall of china" standing in the way of the selfish and wicked desires of men and their terrible realisations. Its understandable.

Keep up the wasted efforts though.

If at this stage you dont understand why such topics make front page then you really arnt getting the subtle message.
The description even included "an holy spirit filled pastor" in a bid to let people know he is the example of a "true christian".

Open your minds, you'll see what is really going on.

Topics defaming christianity are quick to reach frontpage than sprit lifting ones.
And we've gotten the subtle message.

Nothing shall separate us from the love of Christ, not fake pastors, devilish denominations, bad news or ungodly doctrines

Jesus Christ is our standard not denomination.

I find it pointless to argue with people who have no knowledge on the subject - your beliefs have caused you to deny reality.

Please don't quote me, until you have a masters In physics.
So you have an m.sc in physics?

The universe is infinite ? These dumbf.u.cks make bold claims that can make one fall sick instanta . There is no proof the universe is infinite

The LHC in Geneva is said to be now operating at its highest level in a bid to detect miniature black holes, which could help to if there is a 'multiverse' - this could be only possible since the universe is finite
Joshuabase said so grin grin.
He probably read outdated articles.

Is this a hypothesis or a theory ?

Or wishful thinking of a primitive mind ?

What experiments , what mathematical extrapolations have you presented to support this ?

And you're looking for someone to debunk your wishful fantasy ?

OK. Try debunking this ;

The Toothfairy ordained the laws of physics to create the Flying Spagetti Monster( FSM) who governs the material world.

Do you get my drift ?
Then start talking about the toothfairy instead of God na.
grin of course not, it dosent exist.

dude, free me abeg, i got work to do.

Atheism is NOT stup1dity, dude. It's christianity that seems to be anti-intellectual because faith is indistinguishable from gullibility and indoctrination. I mean, YOU see it when you're looking at other religions or cults but are blind to your own.
Atheism is a lack of belief in God or gods.
Its new age atheists that try to add "without substantial evidence" to the dictionary meanimg of atheism.
And that is outright stup1dity and close mindedness
Atheists seem to be sure that God does not exist and that the universe has no cause. The moniker in the picture below also realised that.

Christianity's philosophy basically tells us to throw logic away to find happiness. It preys on vulnerable people (like the sick, the poor, and children) and completely takes their self-esteem away so that they feel they can't perform without God. They are irrationally afraid to question anything and will staunchly defend it because of the fear of hell.

I mean, upon reflection don't you see these things?
to throw away logic and prey on weak minds?
What did you read and where did you get such informationundecided.
Many christians asks questions, its the only way one can grow in any relationship.
The difference between a sincere christian and you is where and whom you ask your questions.
You obviously have asked from wrong sources such that their bullshit now sounds so convincing to you.

I am somewhat alien to your educational qualifications.
Chai! shocked
See a sentence constructed by a Master's degree Holder.

BTW, in what academic discipline did you get your credentials?
I hope it's not the sciences.

Because a lot of you religio-fraudsters conflate bible school certificates with academic degrees.
Please, correct the wrong in my sentence.

I got my degree in igbo language grin ode.

You are just a joke, an irrelevant one.

So you believe that an omniscient, omnipotent god has existed for eternity but works in ways that are suspiciously similar to random chance?
God ordained the laws of physics to create and govern the material world we live in.
Im yet to see any claim that will debunk this.

CoolUsername:
God created heaven and earth, I though he art I heaven. Where was he before that?

Look just because it was written long ago doesn't make it true, the early conception of the world that was extrapolated from the bible is very similar to the Babylonian one and guess what, they're both wrong. I'm sure you'll say God did that, but why? So that critical thinkers would doubt him and go to hell?

Or is it just a flawed primitive individual that wrote this?
You sound as if everything in the world is explainable. Science dosent claim to have all the answers, but atheism is so sure that there isnt a Creator. Its called close-mindedness.
Why not try to probe where God was with your "created" senses.
The bible was extrapolated and blah blah blah, all talk no proof.

CoolUsername:
Or is it just a flawed primitive individual that wrote this?

Because we have no reason to believe that god is one of them, there is no point to most occurrences that happen in the universe. So he either doesn't exist or is in hiding.

!
The primitive individual would have been so intelligent to write such a book on human philosophy that still stands in coherence with 21st century scientific findings.
Nedless to say how the primitive lived over 4500 years and on different continents. grin

CoolUsername:
But the god we see in the bible is all guns blazing, performing miracles all over the place.

Where is he today?

Today a man with cancer would go through chemo and then thank God when it goes into remission.

When my dad was sick three months back and was going to church for prayers, nothing happened up to the point that the pastor told my dad to go to the hospital.

A surgery almost a million naira later, my dad is still on medication.

Here's the kicker, he still thinks God did it!
I keep saying that 98% of atheists here are because of one emotional wreck or the other. Im sorry about your dad but you need to start viewings things differently.
God created man in his creative image and ever since, man has been creating.
I wonder what some pastors think when they stop man from using mans creations.
Man's creation is not in conflict with Gods intervention so why cant i thank God for intervening in the same drugs that was ineffective on some others.
Maybe i should start thanking the universe grin
Your dad probably knows better. Maybe you should discuss your atheism with him. grin
