Christian journalist Kenji Goto, one of the two Japanese hostages who was recently beheaded by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) continues to inspire multitudes with his faith in God, as his previous tweets (@kenjigotoip) have gone viral. Goto's earlier tweets were eerily indicative of his future torture at the hands of ISIS. "Closing my eyes and holding still. It's the end if I get mad or scream. It's close to a prayer. Hate is not for humans. Judgment lies with God. That's what I learned from my Arabic brothers and sisters, "he tweeted on September 7 ,2010. His selfless tweet reflects the Savior's appeal to God on the cross to forgive those who are killing him. "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do, "Jesus said in Luke 23:34. Goto's Twitter page is mainly filled with Japanese characters, but there were some tweets back in 2010 in which he thanked God that miners were rescued in Chile, and also expressed his desire to "make a new world." Goto became a Christian in 1997 and was a member of the Denenchofu Church of the United Church of Christ in Japan. He was kidnapped by ISIS in October 2014 after entering the nation of Syria by way of Turkey. He went back to Syria hoping to rescue his friend Haruna Yukawa, who was kidnapped by ISIS last August 2014. He was the first Japanese man publicly beheaded by the radical Islamic group. In a leaked photo, it was shown that they forced Goto to hold a picture of Yukawa's severed head on January 24. "I have seen horrible places and have risked my life, but I know that somehow God will always save me, "said Goto.

So that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his schemes. - The Bible |
Imprisoned American Pastor Saeed Abedini has finally been allowed a visit by a family member in Iran after two months. His wife, Naghmeh Abedini, who was told about the visit, said that having to watch his two young children grow up only through photos is taking its toll on the pastor after nearly three years in prison. In an update provided by the American Center for Law and Justice , which is representing Naghmeh, the imprisoned American's wife noted that the visit was "bittersweet," with Abedini being denied the opportunity to attend his grandmother's funeral, who died in the last few weeks. What is more, Abedini also missed out on his daughter Rebekka's ninth birthday, and has come to realize how much of his children's growing up he has been away from. "It was too painful for him to see pictures of how much his baby girl had grown up since he last saw her, from the 5- year-old little girl to the 9-year-old young lady she has become. A different kind of maturity covered his baby girl's face. A maturity that spoke of painful, tear-stained nights," Naghmeh wrote. "The picture his family took to show Saeed told him of a girl who was trying to be strong and brave for her daddy. Many tears were shed and stories shared. So many stories that Saeed struggled to remember his babies and our family, memories that the prison walls were slowly stealing from him," she added. "So many new memories were trying to form about what the kids liked to do now and how they had changed over the years. Saeed tried hard to hold on to something to take back to the prison once the visit was over; something Rebekka said; or something Jacob did." Abedini is serving an eight-year prison sentence in the Islamic Republic. While Iranian officials have accused him of endangering national security, the ACLJ has said that he's being punished for his Christian faith. The pastor, a convert from Islam, was put in prison in September 2012 while working on an orphanage for children in Iran. Naghmeh has been fasting throughout most of the month, anticipating Sept. 26, which will officially mark the date when her husband was sent to prison three years ago. During the recent visit with the family member, Abedini was told there will be prayer vigils for him and other persecuted Christians on Sept. 26, to let him know that he's not forgotten. "His face lit up and he was encouraged to hear that so many are praying for him. He was encouraged to know that a date that brought so much pain had become a day when Christians united together to pray for him and the persecuted Church," Naghmeh revealed. "I made sure that he was told that I had not given up the fight. That we had not given up the fight for his release. That despite government shortcomings, none of us were giving up. That we were getting on our knees and praying and fasting for him each day leading up to the prayer vigil. I knew that during the short prison visits he needed to know that he was not forgotten." Naghmeh said that the many beatings and medical problems her husband has faced while in prison are also taking their toll, and he is in pain every day. "Knowing his kids are growing up without him has made the journey that much more emotional for him. He always wanted to be the dad that poured into his kids every single day of them growing up. He was the more nurturing one of the two of us and cared about each and every milestone," she added. "Saeed realizes that he has had to give up those things that were so dear to him for the sake of the Gospel and that is the one thing that brings him comfort. Saeed is holding onto hope that one day he will reunite with us again." The ACLJ also reminded supporters that a letter signed online by over 260,000 people is set to be delivered to Secretary- General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, which will call for the U.N. to do all it can to speak with the Iranian government and get Abedini released. Pretend for a moment that you believe both God and Satan are real beings. And that God is omnipresent, while Satan is a fallen angel who can only be in one place at one time. God of course being the Creator, and Satan being the created being. OK, next. Pretend that Satan's heart became proud and he tried to usurp God's authority, and was quickly kicked out of heaven. This would have made him angry and confused, but certainly very focused. Pretend his hatred drives Him to oppose the purposes of God. Next. Pretend that man, like Satan, has fallen from a place of safety in God's kingdom. And that man needs the blood which the Son of God comes to shed on a cross for the sins of the world. Pretend it's the only way for man to be forgiven and brought into a right relationship with God. Got it? Great. Now in that scenario, what strategies might an intelligent evil angel devise to assail God's purposes and oppose His kingdom? Imagine Satan coming up with a worldwide plot, and utilizing other fallen angels who now serve him and his diabolical purposes. Imagine each of them being assigned a particular geographical territory in which to carry out their master's orders. Can you picture it? Well then, just imagine Satan giving the following instructions to his army of fallen angels. Strategy #1 - Convince man he is his own god. Trick man into believing he is not accountable to a Creator. In other words, get man to think the world revolves around him. Make man think others are either extremely impressed with him; or they think he is a loser. But either way, it must be all about man. We must turn his eyes inward rather than upward. Strategy #2 - Raise up a bevy of false prophets who propose a variety of alternative religions. Any religion is OK, as long as it isn't Christianity. Any religious practices are fine, as long as they don't involve trusting Jesus wholly and following Him as Lord of all. In fact, use false religion as a weapon against Christianity by convincing man that as long as the religion box is checked in his life, it will all turn out fine in the end. Pretty much sums up why we've got several "christian-like" religions and doctrines. Strategy #3 - Fan into flame man's sinful desires. Tempt him to give into those desires so that these habits become addictions driving man further from God. Place things in man's path which prompt him to compromise any allegiance to God's Word, and any commitment to holy living. Get man to hate others, hold grudges, and live with bitterness and resentment. Use lust, greed, jealousy, and every weapon at your disposal. Hold nothing back. And realize that your greatest opportunities will occur the moment man steps across any one of God's boundary lines. Strategy #4 - Speaking of God's Word, do whatever it takes to convince man that Scripture is nothing but a bunch of myths. It is not to be taken literally. Convince man that only "fundamentalists" are naive enough to believe such a thing. Since pride is our specialty, use it to incite man to think highly of his knowledge, as long as it doesn't involve true knowledge of Christ, and a reliance upon God's Word. We must undermine any confidence man places in the Word of God. Strategy #5 - Use science against man. Lead man to think science provides all the answers he needs in life, and to reject any belief in the supernatural. This includes rejecting the notion of Satan, angels, miracles, and even God Himself. Strategy #6 - Convince man that no one can really know whether or not there is life after death. Keep man so busy with activities in this world that he barely has time to think about deeper issues, such as eternity, and the immortality of the soul. Get man to view himself the way he views animals. He lives, and dies, and that's it. Strategy #7 - Realize that many human beings will choose to believe heaven and hell exist. For those people, do anything necessary to convince them they must earn their way into heaven. Above all else, distract man from considering the message of salvation by grace through faith in Christ. No matter what, man must not hear that message. Do anything which distracts believers from spreading the message of salvation in your territory. Well there you have it. Can you imagine Satan devising such a plan? That is, if he is real, and God is real, and the cross is man's only hope for salvation. It seems like it would be an effective plan. Many human beings would become ensnared by such enticing distractions. If such strategies were actually being carried out, there would be plenty of evidence right before our eyes, right? Well, look carefully in the world today. What does the evidence suggest to you? Are these 7 strategies for distraction just an imaginative myth, or reality? If you are too blind to see the Savior today, you probably don't even recognize the very things which are being used to confuse and distract you. Such is the nature of spiritual warfare. Or did you think the devil was going to show up in a red suit with a pitchfork? Ref; Pastor Dan Delzell, Wellspring Lutheran Church, Papillion, Neb. |
Here are six types of men that you should avoid in having a friendship or a relationship with: Men Who Don’t Put God First I believe that this one is the most important of all. If a man doesn’t put God first in His life then he’ll likely put you way down in his list of priorities. A man that has Jesus Christ at the center of his life will also likely hold his girlfriend or wife in high regard because men are commanded to love their wife like Christ loved the church and gave his life for her (Eph 5:25). Men Who Are Consumed with Hobbies My wife loves college football and basketball and even the NFL but she isn’t consumed with them. She would rather do things with the family and miss a game than be glued to the TV until the game or games are over. If a man has a compulsion with hobbies, you might end up in second place to whatever it is he is consumed with. Wouldn’t you rather have a man that is consumed with glorifying God first and then put his wife or girlfriend next? Men Who Mistreat Their Mother Any man that speaks harshly or mistreats his mother is likely to treat the other females in his life the same way. For one thing, he is breaking the Fifth Commandment to honor his father and your mother. There is a strong correlation between how a man treats his mother with how he will treat his girlfriend or wife. This is a strong red flag if he is harsh or mistreats his mother. Men Who Only Care About Themselves I once heard about a woman who complained that her husband acted like God. He all but wanted to be worshiped. Everything had to be about him and he wanted to always be the center of attention. Now God is worthy of that place in our life but no man should ever take center stage or the woman should immediately exit stage left! Men Who Treat Animals Harshly Women, take a close look at how a man treats his pets or treats other animals. All animals are part of God’s creation too and we read in the first few chapters of Genesis that God said “and it was good” and this included the creation of animals so if a man mistreats animals or acts with indifference in their care, then that man would be one that I would avoid at all costs. How is He around Children? Another red flag is if you see a man who doesn’t like children or even like to be around them. Children are precious to God and if this man is a potential mate and father to your children and he can’t stand being around children or has a short fuse around them, take warning because he may treat them even worse when he has his own family and you’d likely be better off without this type of man. May God richly bless you, Ref; Pastor Jack Wellman

Don Piper wreck.
|
Known worldwide as "The Minister of Hope," renowned book author Don Piper said he got to experience the joys of heaven for about 90 minutes after he suffered from a terrible car crash back on Jan.18, 1989. Don Piper actually looks amazingly well for a man who died over 25 years ago. After 34 surgeries, his legs give him trouble on occasion, and his left arm is frozen in a permanent handshake. But things could be worse. In January 1989 Piper died when an 18-wheeler plowed over his Ford Escort on a Texas bridge. Considering his extensive injuries, death was a blessing. But it lasted only 90 minutes—long enough for this Baptist minister to visit the splendors of heaven and reconnect with departed family and friends. Everything was bliss until another minister came upon the accident and felt impressed to pray for the dead man. His prayers worked. Piper came back to life. Anyone who's heard Piper speak or has read 90 Minutes in Heaven knows this story well. After its publication in 2004, the book spent four years on the New York Times Best- Sellers list and has sold 7 million copies to date. Hard to believe that the publisher didn't think it would do well—or ever be made into a movie. But now his recollection of that experience has been captured in the film "90 Minutes in Heaven," which premiered on Friday, Sept. 11, in 800 theatres in the US based on Piper's book of the same name. It stars Hayden Christensen (the "Star Wars" prequels) as Don Piper and Kate Bosworth ("Superman Returns" as Eva Piper. Michael Polish ("The Astronaut Farmer" directs the Giving Films production. Veteran actor Fred Dalton Thompson (Die Hard 2 ) appears as Piper's minister friend, Jay B. Perkins, and singer-songwriter Michael W. Smith is in a leading role. Smith's son is writing the soundtrack for the movie. The Baptist minister was on his way home from a conference in Texas when a semi-trailer truck slammed into his car. Piper said the roof of his car slammed into his head, the steering wheel struck his chest, and the dashboard fell on both of his legs. When paramedics arrived, they found him without heartbeat and pulse. According to Piper, at that moment he went to Heaven and experienced "surreal" things like meeting family members long dead such as his great-grandmother and joining a Heavenly Choir at the Gates of Heaven. Piper, an ordained minister since 1985, has appeared on numerous television and radio programs to recall his "resurrection" story. He said God had bigger plans for him in this world, that's why he said he miraculously "came back to life." Piper said sharing his personal story through the film "90 Minutes in Heaven" was both gratifying and difficult for him and his wife Eva, who had to recall all of their personal struggles during that time to be able to deliver an honest rendition of the film. "I was on the set about 80 percent of the time, and Eva and our kids were all invited to the set, so we were there and saw them making the movie in an accurate and forth right kind of way, "Piper told Breaking Christian News. "It was very surreal—to relive those experiences after all these years through the acting; it was not an easy thing to do." Another difficulty they faced was in depicting heaven in the film. Piper said after he came back from the dead, he was unable to talk about heaven for over a year simply because there were no earthly words to describe it. "If that's the case on a personal level, just try to make a film about it! "he said. "The parts of heaven that they chose to portray are mostly accurate. But they can't do the colours that I saw there; that I can't see here. They can't do the aromas that I smelled there; that I can't smell here, "he said. "So, it was accurate in depicting the things they could display, but there's so much more—to say the least—to heaven than you could make in a movie." Nonetheless, Piper praised the producers, saying they did a pretty good job showing heaven in the movie. But whatever visual paradise any special effects team could muster up would simply pale in comparison to the real heaven, he said. The pastor said he understands that there are sceptics who would disagree with him regarding the reality of heaven, adding that everybody is entitled to his or her own opinion. "I respect those who disagree with me about heaven. They probably use the brakes on their car, and yet don't understand anything about them either—they use them by faith, the car stops. We exercise faith all the time regarding things we can't see or don't understand, so it shouldn't be any less with a story like this. But it's their call.I just ask people to see the movie, and make their own judgment call,"he said. Angels are spirit beings (Hebrews 1:14 ), so they do
not have any essential physical form. But angels do have the
ability to appear in human form. When angels appeared to
humans in the Bible, they resembled normal males. In Genesis
18:1-19 , God and two angels appeared as men and actually
ate a meal with Abraham. Angels appear as men many times
throughout the Bible ( Joshua 5:13-14 ; Mark 16:5 ). Other times, angels appeared not as humans, but as something other-worldly, and their appearance was terrifying to those who encountered them. Often, the first words from these angels were "do not be afraid," because extreme fear was such a common reaction. The keepers of Jesus' tomb became as dead men when they saw the angel of the Lord (Matthew 28:4 ). The shepherds in the fields in Luke 2 were "sore afraid" when the angel of the Lord appeared and the glory of the Lord shone around them. As for physical characteristics, angels are sometimes described as winged. The images of cherubim on the ark of the covenant had wings that covered the mercy seat ( Exodus 25:20 ). Isaiah saw winged seraphim in his vision of the throne of heaven, each one having six wings ( Isaiah 6:2 ). Ezekiel, too, saw visions of winged angels. Isaiah 6:1-2 depicts angels having human features—voices, faces and feet. Angel voices are heard singing and praising God in several other passages. The angel at Jesus' tomb is described as having a brilliant appearance: "His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow" (Matthew 28:3 ). Whatever appearance angels take on, there is reason to believe they are incredibly beautiful. Ezekiel tells us that Lucifer was "lifted up" in pride over his beauty. In addition, beings such as angels, who are continually in the presence of God, would be expected to have extraordinary beauty because God's glory is reflected upon all that is around Him. |
