Nemesis909: I'm assuming you extend this argument to the yam and tomato farmers ? those yam and tomatoes sellers are all paying taxes. it's the local government that is in charge of that. haven't you seen all those staff in uniform going to the markets places to sell tickets to those market women? Isn't It a form of taxation... |

Ultimus: I wouldn't be surprised if this includes card payments on the government Remita platform. Imagine paying tax to the government because you want to "pay" them. Although I dislike this government because of its lack of direction. but we have to admit that advanced countries like the UK, France, Germany and even in some African countries like South Africa, Botswana and even Ghana employ these sort of taxation to raise money for the government to carryout infrastructural development. |

YorubaHero12: Here you go again chestbeating over nothing, can we actually say this is some form of disability embedded in you guys DNA.
Do you know Onne port has been functioning even before now it’s just that it has low patronage?
Can you tell me where the market for goods is concentrated in Nigeria ?? Lagos right
If you import cars or other goods through the Onne port Where are you gonna sell it at, mostly Lagos right considering the spending power of the people in Lagos.
If I import goods through Onne port, I still have to use ground transportation to take them back to Lagos right thereby incurring more transport cost and other miscellaneous. That form the major bulk why people prefer Lagos port.
Well let’s give it 3 years and we’ll all come back to see if your analogy is right or wrong judging by your last sentence. Let's get one thing straight. Serious economic activities are taking place in Eastern cities like Aba, Onitsha, Nnewi and PH. Those merchants would no longer have to order goods from abroad and have it shipped down to Lagos only to transport by road to their warehouse, with the functional port at Onne, distance time and expenses will be cut down considerably |
Politics › Re: Onne Port, River State New Hub Of Economic Activities by winterfell007(m): 3:43pm On Aug 02, 2019 |
TundeBricklayer: According to the report The WACT is determined to becoming the new hub of economic activities in Nigeria, being the gateway to major markets in Onitsha, Kano, Abuja, Nnewi, Enugu, Aba, Ogidi and Port Harcourt which will in turn boost the nation’s economy.
I'm clad Ogidi, home town of Chinue Achebe is taking her rightful position in Commerce, Ogidi now host of many markets including famous Ogidi international building material market in Anambra, the largest building materials market now is located in Ogidi, Ogidi international building materials feed many building materials markets in the East, middlebelt and North, my Aunty that built commercial house in Port Harcourt, I was surprised that she bought the building materials in Ogidi and transported them to PH. You have to learn to rise above ethnic sentiments. It's people like you that make people think Igbos are a disgruntled ethic groups. Stop chest-beating over nothing, it won't take you far in life |

Why would taxpayers be paying for the security of the Private Park? Industries generate industrial waste.... most carcinogenic/cancer causing and hazardous to health.... what measures are in place to safely dispose of the waste and prevent environmental contamination? Many jobs... paid in time.... but how much?....what would be their hours of work and conditions? These are what need to be addressed. Is this really development?...or exploitation? Oga no time to type trash. Let's thank God that sitting governor is doing his job. When we finally get it industrialized then we can begin to look into the other issues you raised |

goaldynboy: I'm a big Buhari critic; I'm tempted to say he has tried small on this bridge! But I will only praise him if he completes it! If he can also be detribalized enough to build a railway from Lagos to onisha or Lagos to pH to onisha, I will rally the Igbos to apologize to him for not voting him! I don't care if he didn't give the Igbo's appointment!!
By the way Obasonjo is the biggest fool and a scammer to have played politics with this bridge!! Yes PMB should be commending for continuing the project as planned. What I'm against is people is rubbing it on GEJ's face is that he did nothing for the southeast. GEJ actually ensured financial arrangement were adequately taken care so as not to be termed 'abandoned projects' |

Simplyleo: From the aeriel view, the bridge wouldn't even be as long as 3rd mainland bridge. But what exactly has been stopping successive administrations from constructing this bridge?
Anyway, thanks to buhari for his commitment in ensuring that the dream of having this bridge is brought to fruition.
Pls, children of perdition who will rather give credit to that one whose only achievement with regards to this bridge is a drawing should not quote me, my hand is paining me. obailala: Partly funded the project?.... The explanation Fashola gave during the screening was that there was difficulty getting the private investors for the project, so the project is currently fully funded by FG through the NSIA (whatever that is). Too many complicated grammar involved in all these... Don't worry your head about Fashola's grammar. What should you know is that the financing arrangement has been concluded as far back as 2013. NSIA and JB Co-own the project. Are you aware JB is also partly funding the project. That's why I can bet that the Second Niger Bridge will be tolled as planned. |

Godoverevery: stop acting delude...... **construction started 2014**isn't that 5yrs after been a president d more you try to defend Gej over the bridge d more it sounds irritating honestly. What's the fuss about the actual time the construction work started? The most important thing is that they adequately took care of the funding arrangement to ensure that project doesn't suffer any setback financially. Even if Gej won his election, construction work would have been still ongoing until the end of his tenure in 2019. Buhari came and met an on-going project still in the works and continued from there. As we know, the project is still taking Buhari five years and... To complete. So biggie!! I ain't holding brief for anyone mind you |
