Presh18:Racism is every where, including in Nigeria so learn to live with it and since you have adapted to it in Nigeria you will adapt to Racism anywhere provided you play by the rule of the land and focus on why you traveled out. Something that causes racist behavior I have noticed in Cyprus emanated from some set of people/national: 1. Some landlords/landlady dont want to rent house for some nationality becos most of the people from this country shout a lot, make too much noise, play music too loud, turn their rented room to church or musical centers. 2. Many are too dirty, use kitchen utensils and leave them rotten at the central kitchen, some cook food that bring offensive odor to others. 3. Fraud (yahoo-yahoo) and other forms of scams 4. Unauthorized drug use and drug-pushing related activities 5. Some lack of respect for rule of law and disrespect to elders 6. Some their parents sent them money to pay tuition fees and they use it to rent cars even if they are not going anywhere and after that they will be wanting the university to allow them pay in installment or do provisional registrations. So some of the above mentioned points, led some of the Cypriot to be racist or generalize when they see people of particular nationality. ...points above is what I have seen in Cyprus (its my personal observation, one-to-one interview with Cypriot and personal experience...does not mean is general and universally true). EMU does not offer nursing program in English Language currently, so you can consider NEU, EUC, and others that offer the program in English. As I have mentioned to you earlier you dont need agent to spoonfeed you...you have computer stroll to the website of the university u want, check for their accreditation regarding the course you want, course curriculum, facilities they have and soft skills they offer in that program and possible credentials or experience or CV or of the instructors. Admission processing is free for most schools unless does with non-refundable application fees and processes are simply written on the university website...so what took you to agent first I dont know...If you think you cannot do this simple research then simply pay the agent the 150k to do the research for you. What you should consider are more pressing, to be practical with you: If you must study Nursing in South Cyprus, kindly budget the following per year: 3.0 -3.5 M naira inclusive of Tuition fees, accommodation in shared apartment and simple living style (expenses). For North Cyprus: 2.0-2.5M yearly for tuition, accommodation and moderate living style. If you dont have this amount yearly or no stable sponsor to pay up this every year, pls dont come to Cyprus..... Have a great day! |
Presh18:Penroll has replied you and I vouch for his response. Your friend that compares Uniport to Cyprus is either one of those that travel with idea of picking gold on the street of foreign countries, one of those that want skyscrapers or those that do not really know the meaning of education. Studying involves, standardization of teaching curriculum, relevancy of the curriculum to modern educational system, facilities, cleanliness of the environment, serene campus, quality of the instructors etc. In terms of Accommodation, curriculum, educational facilities, cleanliness, instructor ratings, research output and paper publications in recognized impact journals you cant compare any Nigeria universities to the worst university in North Cyprus. Please note this, I have experienced education in Nigeria, North Cyprus, Germany during my academic life and I know what am saying and what I have seen. Its a choice you may have to make....spend your time to do more research online based on those matrices I have mentioned and decide... Also your grades are okay and can be approved for credit-transfer! Best wishes. penroll55: |
penroll55:Rightly said Penrol. Its not about send me an email or send me documents. Over the years most of the students have suffered from agents located in Nigeria and those mini-agents located in Cyprus. Applicants must be aware of the current scenario including the living conditions, availability of jobs, educational standard, life after studies. @godsong, I like to tell you that this thread has been maintained since 2009 and I will appreciate that you desist from this send me this and that without answering direct questions of the applicants. Also, only answer general questions thrown to this thread or directed to you, pls dont reply any question directed to other posters or else I will get you reported and you will get banned from this particular thread. godsong: |
Joesticks:Yes, tuition will be adjusted to the new program you enrolled for! |
Joesticks:During the point of registration at the University, you will inform the personnel at the registrar office that you wish to switch from Software Eng to Info tech and that will be done in matter of 10 mins.....so no worries!!! First your travel date is tentative, one month Visa will be issued to you. For instance, if your appointment is on 4th and visa is issued on 7th Jan..then it expires 6th Feb...so you can travel at least 2days here before it expires. Actually, If you come here in January early final exams will still be on and most students are busy then so no fun or sometimes accommodation issues. However, there lots of accommodation choices now so you can come anything from end of January...that will allow you ample time to gallivant the environment and get ready for the edu-life.. About articles I dont know since I dont actually ask what each person does/do .....so if you are so curious about that, you my put up some survey to know more when you arrive! Even they dont do, nothing stops you from starting it! |
Joesticks:Kindly post your question in this thread : (https://www.nairaland.com/351402/north-cyprus) I will reply you from that thread so that plenty threads are not created for Cyprus and people get confused which to tap info from. |
sandyharrison:I have managed this thread since 2009 about Cyprus (https://www.nairaland.com/351402/north-cyprus) ..you can read it well...its a good guide...yes you can find my email address in this thread (skull......) |
sandyharrison:Yeah I did studied in North Cyprus and am Asst.Professor now working with North Cyprus university and British Uni both as research scientist and as lecturer... ....I will be willing to have you in my class....next year I shall announce a Turkish sponsored project that will allow me to finance 2-4 graduate students working in my new lab......... ![]() |
SimonPeters2020:He can go to Turkey anytime he wants for tourism, studies or business legally. My main concern is going there Illegally will put him into various risks and when he cant survive he may turn into usable elements (Like scams, frauds, drug pusher or extremist). Turkey is a great country and provides good educational support for academics and business-oriented persons. I know Turkey quite well not just as traveler but as person with ties in Turkey. euroboy95:Op, My advise for you is that either you go to Turkey to further your education or for legal business or Tourism. A frequent business visit to Turkey will open your eyes to many opportunities and that can give you chances to residency. For business, try to know what sorts of business you want to do and how much will be enough for you to do that before you embark in your journey. As far as my brain can tell, you can only start meaningful biz with around 5000USD upward. Best wishes! |
sandyharrison:Really Try to visit each of the university website, go straight on the link of accreditation and recognition and see for yourself..then come back and write what you find out here, then you may visit those accrediation/recognition bodies to ascertain the validity.....thats how you do research...!!! ![]() |
euroboy95:First, language will be a major problem that will limit many things for you in Turkey. Depends on the region of Turkey you will be living, some see many blacks as footballer and they will mostly ask you where you come from. If you say Nigeria, they will immediately say Okocha...Many of the locals dont know the difference between Nigeria and Africa, they mostly thought/think Africa is a country where black people live. Some even think Lagos is the only place in Nigeria, while others think Lagos and Nigeria are two countries. Most popular cities you will find Nigerian are Istanbul, Ankara, Marmara and Izmir! Living expenses is relatively lower as compared to many European countries, Americas and some Asian countries but sensibly higher than almost all African countries. For instance, a plate of normal food may range between 800 to 3000 naira and a 50 cent litre water goes between 80 to 150 naira depends on brand and location within Turkey. Decent room will range 25k to 50K naira per month excluding bills and with residence card you can easily get cheap payment option for metro and trains. Wages is lower compared to many European countries but commensurate with the living Expense in Turkey generally. Casual jobs (construction, restaurants, loader, farms etc) pay between 2500 to 4500 naira per day ( these are extremely hard labour and in some cases would require a work permit), while some teaching jobs like those in teaching centers, normal workers in bank, telecom and other organization earn much higher but may require you to have sufficient language knowledge and skills in these region. If you have permanent job teaching in university in Turkey, the wages is quite good and you can apply for Turkish blue passport that allows visa free travel to European and Schengen countries. The normal passport is Red which requires visa to some European and Schengen countries but permanent academics do have access to get blue passport which is visa free to those mentioned earlier. To be employed as permanent Academics, you must in most cases have earned PhD in any field... Residency Permit types:, there are various permit and note that residence permit does not allow working rights, you must obtain work permit to be considered legal and suitable to work. The work permit application are mostly submitted by the employer on behalf of the employee and you will undergo some medical test and present some credentials. To live legally in Turkey, you have to apply for either short-term residence (up to 1yr), student, family or Long-term residence permit. Each has its own requirements that needs to be met. In your own case, you may apply for short-term residence permit and must be able to show financial means for the duration you want to apply for, proof of accommodation and be able to convince or show reason why you want to obtain the residence permit. If you decide to enroll into a university or study center, those will provide you student letter and makes the application easier. These applications can be done manually or via online system. Racism yeah it happens all places and common in countries that their official language is different from yours and in most culture-enshrined and superstitious countries and environments. Racism comes in different forms and scale, you may have to live with it, understand it, proffer solution to it or let go. For instance, lots of Nigerian are racist as some Fulani will kill Igbo cos of cow, some Igbo will not want their daughter or son marry Yoruba cos of Amala and even some Yoruba wont allow marriage of a guy from Kwara to Ijebu due to witch-hunting and some Middle belt people wont eat your food cos you are Muslim while some Igbos wont hug you cos you are not Catholic christian. These may sound like tribal/ethnic stuffs but they are form of racism. So, in Turkey some will hate you cos of your skin, some cos your brother already duped one person or because you speak English and they cant understand. It happens in England, Russia and America as well....so learn to deal with it since it happens in South Africa and Nigeria also. Hustling (as you termed it) in Turkey, may be difficult if you dont have money for business, rents, legal residence, basic communication skills etc. Cos since wages are low, you may only earn little that can take care of your daily needs. Other things people do their are fraud, drugs and scams; these ones are quick to send you to jail and enhance your death. Note: Exchange rate of 72 N to TL was taken as conversion rate at the moment of this publication and what is written is my personal opinion culminated from personal experience, knowledge and independent research! |
kenlouis:You may email the registrar and include your application number so they can remind the department. Actually most of the departments evaluation team are busy these days due to exams which will be over this new week. So email the registrar or the concerned departments. |
Oluwaskinny: Oluwaskinny:If you are actually ready to study and wont want agents to eat your money, you must be able to do proper research online and make sound decisions. South and North Cyprus are two different countries with different admission requirements and slightly same lifestyles. Both Countries used to be one before break-up and they are working to rejoin again but no one knows when. In terms of development and environment, both are almost in same level (I have visited both, so I know very well about this), however, the south have some more infrastructures and more foreign govt presence even though the north seems to be financially better currently than the south. Go to google, type the university in any of these countries and visit the web of the university for courses, fees and requirements......thats what a prospective student should do. Then, decide and follow up...if you need help in applying write the university (cos they are in the better position) or come over here to ask questions and get assisted. NOTE: Jobs are scarce in both countries and you must have stable finances to study abroad. Best wishes! |
tollyB:Sir/madam, The scenerio for master is same for undergraduate. The master fees inclusive of scholarship ranges 4800-5500USD for whole program. Excluding accommodation, living expenses and others. In brief, ensure you either have full finances before you enter the Aeroplane or have stand-by sponsor. Best wishes! |
tollyB:You must have stable finances to support your education from day 1 to your last day in Cyprus. The expenses include tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses and some others like medical bills etc. You may be awarded 50% scholarship on tuition based on your grades. Meaning, after the scholarship you must be able to pay all other expenses which may range 4000-5000USD yearly. Jobs are relatively scarce in Cyprus you wont rely on that. If you are not financially ready as I have highlighted here, Please you have to re-plan! |

UgMartins1:Kindly wait till January to apply for visa appointment. The universities in Cyprus will start sending list towards December end to embassy. Is too early for you now. |
Fabjazz:Kindly email the EMU registrar for verification of admission or acceptance letter. |
eazylion01:For an undergraduate the age limit is 25yrs for EMU but some other university may admit him but number of years he spend depends on his grades and relevancy of the subjects. For him to have graduated with 3rd class, I doubt if he will have good grades in major subjects, meaning he might spend about 2.5-3yrs at undergraduate depending on the quality of the university he wants to enrol in. Best wishes! |
eazylion01:Good day, The least grade EMU admit is 2.7...if he has less than that he wont be admitted, some program at EMU wants 3.0 and above. However, some universities like CIU can admit him with 3rd class as I learnt. He must secure his transcript one way or the other for admission purpose. He may request for student copy so he can use that for admission. |
Fabjazz:Kindly get a legal letter to support your inconsistency. Best wishes! |
Fabjazz:I dont sleep on Nairaland waiting to answer your questions neither am I paid to do so. |
kcbentley:Yes he can leave. He will need to close his account with EMU before his documents can be return to him and pay any debt, then leave Cyprus. |
kstadaura:All recognized institutions abroad are listed in ministry of education in Abuja. So you will need to take the name of your chosen university or college there and check up their list. Best wishes! |
kstadaura:Yes some universities abroad do that. However, in Cyprus most University does not even have PGD and will not admit you directly into master program with Higher diploma. They mostly admit students with degree into their master programs. I have heard that CIU in Cyprus do admit HND holders, but I dont know about that, so you may visit their website and make inquiries from their registrar office. |
mirrorboy:Below each of my comment; (the signature part) you will find my email address. |
mirrorboy:Anything above C grades in major subjects of the olevel results will be good. Send me your application documents as stated above, state the course you want to apply. Read more on this thread some technical info that have been discussed and questions answered for past prospective students. Best wishes! |
Fabjazz:No you wont need national ID at the embassy. |
mirrorboy:First Only one or two Universities can admit you based on that age for undergraduate provided your grades are quite great. I know of British University of Nicosia and I think Cyprus International University. You will need your olevel result, international passport page and photopassport neatly scanned to get admitted. For embassy, you may not have issues if your physical look does not portray you to be agbero or gangster. If you have been working, you may obtain letter from your work place to support the gap and if asked, you can briefly explain you have have been working and these are documents to back it up. Now back to main issue: 1. Will you be self sponsor? if yes, have you saved for the 4years period? 2. Have you saved for accommodation and living expenses? 3. Are you aware jobs are relatively scarce in Cyprus and if you get one, will only sustain you lightly and may not be sufficient for tuition? |
mirrorboy:Questions for you: how old are you currently? Do you have good grades in your olevel? |
hayoholla:Hi, To apply is easy and straight forward. You must have your transcript ready, certificate and international passport copy. What program do you want to study? what is your CGPA? |
