fados4sure: Mr Wip7? It is about to happen. During my registration with CIU, they collected all my original certificate and now, I have applied to a German school and I went to the registration office to collect my certificate. They said the only way they can issue my certificate to me is either I wait till graduation or I terminate my program with CIU and the funny thing is that my tuition fees won't be refunded.
How do you see it sir?
Secondly, will you advise me to process the German visa in Cyprus here or I should go back to 9ja and process it? Your humble opinion sir
Yes, you can only take your documents when you graduate or when you wish to terminate your studies and fees wont be refunded. Its the university policy not only in CIU but all universities in TRNC.

You can get true copies of your documents from them if you wish to use that to secure admission in any German universities. Also you can apply for the German student visa ONLY from Turkey as the German embassy at TRNC can only process short stay not long or student permit. The process is easier from Turkey compared to Nigeria as far as I know provided you have the required amount for the block account.

udehraphael: Goodday mr wip7,,plsss i will like to clarify something,,,(1)when i get to northcyprus, after my first yr will i come back to nigeria to renew my visa or can i do it over there or i won,t be needing d visa again? (2)will 200dollars last me a month or will i need more?(3)how is the transport service like,is it expensive,,,thanks
You do not need the visa anymore, you can travel in and out of cyprus with your valid residence permit. So you will be required to apply for residence permit after your registration at METU.

Averagely you will be quite fine with 200USD but i dont know about your lifestyle. If you dont smoke, if you dont womanise, if you dont rent cars, nor drink alcohol, nor order food frequently at the eatries....You will be good with 200USD.

Transport is expensive compared to Nigeria but cheaper compared to other EU countries. But your dorm and school are close, so you may not need transport and you can get a bicycle within the skool if you so wish but dont rent cars cos your money will finish. There are school buses also.

trustee20: Hi wip7, I just checked my admission status, and this is what I saw...

Evaluation of the Department Conditionally Accepted 15.04.2013

The student must attend a deficiency program including the following deficiency course(s)

Course Code Ref Code Course Name
PSIR220 135D4 Research Design
PSIR203 135D2 Politics and Society
PSIR201 135D1 Theory and Practice of International Relations
PSIR210 135D3 International Organizations

Approval of the IGSR Awaiting for Approval what is this deficiency thing all about, I don't understand.
Means you have to take those courses and passed them before you can proceed to your main program, you will also pay separately for the deficiency courses, read more on EMU grad website. The deficiency courses are given to you either you studied a major different from what you are applying for or you have low marks in the courses in same major.

ojandis: Thanks so much Wip7. I just got a reply from the turkish embassy inviting mε̲̣̣̣̥ for an interview. They sent mε̲̣̣̣̥ a reply based on the 1st e-mail i sent to them. Now,my question is this; what will the embassy do if they find out that i sent a second e-mail to them? Remember,i told you that i had to send a second e-mail to them when i felt i didn't fill the first appropriately. And pls what are the necessary documents to present to the embassy. Thanks
I told you that the embassy will ignore the incorrect email and then reply based on the correct one. You have received the reply from them so kindly go and apply at the embassy at the given date and time. I will advise you read the embassy website for the required documents, all you need is written on the site. Good luck!

ojandis: Yea its a middleman, someone i know so well. How long does it take the embassy to reply an applicant's e-mail? Will the embassy request for an invitation letter since am dealing with a middleman? Tnx
The time for reply varies depending on so many factors at the embassy. Yes the embassy will need official invitation letter and from the experience i have they always required official IV from the club or on the club letter head paper and such applications are sent back to Turkey for verification for genuiness. Just ensure you have submitted geniune and original documents and the club is verifiable. Good luck!!
TravelRe: North Cyprus by wip7: 5:03am On Apr 15, 2013
ojandis: Thanks so much Mr Wip7. I'm travelling to Turkey. The initial e-mail i sent to the embassy had just "APPOINTMENT" as the subject matter while the second e-mail i sent had "APPOINMENT INTERVIEW" as the subject matter.
Okay thats cool. When you do not hear from them kindly go and apply at the post. May i know if is the club manager that is inviting you or middlemen? i do hope you have done a great search and ensured you are on the right lane? wish you luck!!!
TravelRe: North Cyprus by wip7: 8:06am On Apr 14, 2013
ojandis: Thanks so much for your reply. The purpose of my travelling is for sport. I'm a footballer.
Okay, do you have all the necessary genuine documents and invitation papers? If yes, then don't bother yourself. After some verification the embassy will only respond to the correct email you sent to them with the correct SUBJECT MATTER, while the other one with wrong SUBJECT will be ignored. But i will advise you go to the embassy after one week if no reply to submit your application cos the embassy is not so busy now and would get busy starting from next month. Just pop out at their face at the center and drop your application. If you have a good traveling history and standard club inviting you then it's won't be a problem. Lastly are you traveling to Turkey or TRNC?

ojandis: Good day Mr Wip7. I'm sorri I'm dropping this here. A nairalander directed me to you.

I sent an e-mail to the turkish embassy in abuja for an appointment interview about six days ago. On realizing that the subject topic i used was wrong, and haven heared that whoever that doesn't type the correct subject topic will not be called for an interview,i sent another appointment request to them again ds morning, but just few minutes ago,i read on their site that whoever sends more than 1 request in a month will forfeit the chance of been called for an interview.
Have i lost it? Pls advice me
What is the purpose of your appointment? can i know the type of traveller you are? (student, business or tourist)...this answer you give will prompt another question from me to know how i can explain your situation.

seyi852002: Hi wip7, can I apply to METU for my Msc (sustanable energy and renewable power), while I await the result of ur meeting with IGRS director?
Yes you can apply to METU Msc program. The IGRS director at EMU also with your application now and she will give me answer on monday, the alternative at EMU is Msc BUSINESS ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT( conducted by WARWICK UNIVERSITY)as suggested by the deputy EMU rector based on your result. The Warwick Msc is 7900pounds and program last 1year.

udehraphael: Pls mr wip7,,can i know how much it cost for living expenses a month?
The living expenses vary and depends on students lifestyle and pocket value, you ccan live within 200-350usd neatly. I will also recommend you read thoroughly the frequently asked questions by METU prospective students here: http://ncc.metu.edu.tr/prospective/20/frequently_asked_questions.html

udehraphael: Goodday mr wip7,plss i need you to clarify something,,plz my dad want to know d break down of how visa,,ticket and resident permit cost is like?pls reply with d price range
I dont know about flight tickets, you will have to ask the ticket vendors in Nigeria, they will qoute the price for you accordingly. Kindly check Turkish embassy website for the Visa fees as well. Resident permit for one year ranges 100-200usd depends on hospital charges when you arrive but METU will do the arrangment for you.

Demaejy: Thank you very much. Please what could be advantages for those students who are studying Tourism and hospitality management in term of work and earning in Turkey? Thanks.
There are no minor or major advantages when students study the mentioned program in Turkey, i said earlier, Language is one major barrier one will likely face, wages can be low just maybe enough to survive.Students hv limited hours to work based on their residence status, some organization might required work permit to employ the applicants. Lots of tourists from different countries do visit Turkey on daily basis and the hotel owner or restaurant might as well employ staffs that are proficient in the major languages. My one and ONLY advise for anybody travelling as student to another country must have full fees, accommodation and standby sponsor to regularly pay his/her fees. Jobs not guarantee any where.....but that does not mean one cannot try or get one

the fees are stated clearly on your offer letter. kindly read it well, you will see all you need to know.

Demaejy: Please answer my question.
your question already answered check the thread!!

udehraphael: Goodday mr wip7,sorry i didn,t get u properly,,u said i should fill the form and send it back to u with a telex copy from my bank? Also i was given 1 month to reply or my admission will be cancelled,,so what should do? And how will i go about d telex?also will i pay d 500dollars before d unconditional letter comes.
Kindly read your offer letter and the acceptance/rejection letter carefully. If you accept the offer, you are asked to fill the acceptance form, signed and send back with the telex copy of remittance of 500USD. Then you will be asked to pay the remaining balance of about 3400usd as written on your offer letter. Then you will be issued UNCONDITIONAL OFFER LETTER that use can use for your visa.

But my earlier post advised you that instead of breaking the payment and incurring bank charges, if you have the full fees then kindly transfer the fees, fill the acceptance form and send me the telex copy of payment and filled acceptance form to me. I will follow up from there. I do hope is clear now!!!

Kndly fill the acceptance form sent along with your admission and send back to me with the telex copy from your bank. Then i will guide you on the visa procedure after the official unconditional letter comes frm METU.

seyi852002: Hello mr wip, have u discussed with IGRS? I'm very anxious to know my fate..
I have spoken with the IGRS, the director is currently away and she has final say. She will be back this week and i will update you...wait for the update in ur email.

Demaejy: @wip7- Please, i would like to know if International students are allowed to work in Turkey while studying. I know anything coming from you is first-hand information. Thanks.
Yes intl students can work, but it may be quite difficult due to language barrier. Most pple comunicate in Turkish and they might want staff or workers that can communicate as well. But if you can comminucate then you will win their hearts. Also wages are slightly low in Turkey and may only serve as support for living expenses but may not reach students to do anything than to survive. Turkey is kind of cheaper though but not comprable to Nigeria interms of xpenses so i advise all intending students to have full year fees and stable support from Home....

olasco_akon: @wip7, i am one of ur ardent follower and i want 2 ask u a question.I was given admission 4 jan intake i didnt apply 4 scholarship so i wasnt given now since u say all international student wud be given a 50% discount in tuition, i want 2 renew my admission 4 sept wil d 50% apply 2 me, wil my tuition be reduce.Tanxs in anticipation
As far as i know, all students that applied for scholarship were given scholarship cos i was in charge of African scholarship so if you did apply then you would have been awarded based on your grades. Now we changed the system due to some abuse by agents trying to sell the scholarship that is NATURALLY FREE. So now if you apply for admission, your scholarship and EMU bank account will be on your admission letter. So you can re-apply now!!! Also note, do not pay tuition fees into any agent account...we advise you to pay directly yourself into EMU account details as written on the Admission letter.

I dont know about cost, i will advise you live in Cyprus first before asking this question. The embassy will surely inform you the cost implication, you may have to ask the flight agency the flight cost and other charges you may incur. Just to remind you still waiting for response on your application status.

la_bold_kid: Okay sir,pls kindly send a list of all the credentials i wud be sending to ayomideoji@yahoo.com.thanks in advance
Please kindly search for my email in this thread or better still look up to EMU website for admission requirements or application procedure. If you find my email send me the following : olevel result and international passport and course you plan to study. You must be born from 1989 upward to be admitted.

trustee20: Please Sir, I am still waiting, my admission status still remains the same- waiting approval at the department. It is taking quite some time. Hope nothing has gone wrong. Is there any way you can help. Please sir!
This is March, semester starts Sept so is so early to get panic. When EMU start evaluating for Sept entry the department will evaluate you and you will be be informed of your status. Kindly wait to be evaluated, since you have about 6 months to the entrance of the semester.

menaveroh: please i need to know how will it cost me to travel to Cyprus to live and work,or school
i work in a hospitality industry here in Nigeria as a waiter and presently working now as a bartender,we it be easy get a job in any hotel or club or restaurant if i travel there ,how much do you think i need to travel there if am going for schooling we it be up to 800k or more ,or we i be able to school and work as a bartender when i get there are there any uni that we we allow me school and work while schooling with them .what if am going to live and seek for job if i get there will i spend up to the 800k,because i understand that one spend much if you are traveling with a schooling visa.please i need to travel to Cyprus i love that country
Good day, I will like to give you some advise and also guide you if you wish to follow it. If your sole intention to travel to Cyprus (south Cyprus or North Cyprus)is to work and earn money, i will advise you to stay back at your country. South Cyprus is currently in a huge financial mess and many people are looking for job there currently, so it will be costly mistake for you to plunge yourself into that mess. If is north Cyprus, we already have so much plenty student here or people looking for job and cant find so it may be difficult for you even though North Cyprus do not experience similar financial imbroglio. 800k Naira is just about 5000USD that will only be enough to pay your flight and your first semester tuition fees. how will you pay your accommodation, feed yourself and continue with life without money for following semestershuh

Please if you dont have complete 4 years tuition and accommodation fees for undergraduate studies or master depending on your case, dont bother applying to study in Cyprus and this applies to many other countries abroad. You may find job but it may be difficult or wages not enough to meet ur need, you may not find job as well. Enough said!!
