I have told you and given you the idea of the grading criteria for scholarships at METU, what you will be eligible for depends on the point you falls to. When you apply to the university your scholarship will be written BOLDLY on your admission letter weather 25 or 50%.

In EMU, we use curve grading system after the students have finished exams, alot of things come into play, each lecturer is evaluated also and the exams standard is compared to see how many students pass each questions and many other things.

High honor (first class):starts from 3.5-4.0 (If you have this, we shall give you HIGH HONOR (DEAN HONOR)certificate each semester and you get discount from next fees to be paid or additional top-up scholarship).....So Jamiu sit tight and earn the full HONOR
Honor (2nd class): Start from 3.0-3.49
Satisfactory: 2.5-2.9
Anything below 2.49 are not interpreted.

All students are eligible for scholarships. If you have 15 points in 5 subjects including maths and English and three other related subjects you will be awarded 50%, if you have 21 points you will be awarded 25%. You will be asked to pay first semester fees and one semester accommodation before you can be issue letter to embassy.

You can do it yourself and i can help you as well..its free of charge. the agents will charge and milk you dry.

Fees for master is 9200usd whole program and you can have 50% tuition discount, which means 4600USD for whole program.

Accomodation per year cheapest is 2000USD but master program last 1.5years so to finish you will spend roughly 3000usd on accommdation.

Feeding is 150-300usd monthly. Totalling 3000usd for whole program

Flight ticket can range 1200-1500usd

In summary: 4600+3000+3000+1500= 12100

You cant find free university in Cyprus and highest scholarship you can have is 50% unless you graduate with first class. Jobs are scarce in abroad including Cyprus, Finland, Germany and Netherlands etc. The abroad is not as greener or rosy as painted these days cos the abroad people also need jobs as much as you need it. Most people are going for quality education and tends to explore the opportunities that will make them competitive even if they return back to their original country. My advise, is you should have a sponsor or adequate finance to support you till the end of your education anywhere you finally choose and if you are luck and find jobs then is a PLUS to you but never depends on jobs to support your education cos it may not come or may come is risky business!!

INTERALIA: @wip. Why do you always emphasize on Ranking all the time. Especially Webometrics' ranking?. I agree those 2-storey schools in South Cyprus aren't the best of schools at all and also EMU is one of the best schools in the world. But the emphasis you lay on ranking needs some correction. The last time i searched Webometrics' ranking criteria on Wikipedia, it explained the criteria to be the volume of the Web contents (number of web pages and files) and the visibility and impact of these web publications according to the number of external inlinks (site citations) they received. I assure you even all these Webometrics guys have not been to all these schools they rank high to have on-sight information about the schools. They only base their ranking on web-search. They even always tell people NOT to use their ranking when choosing schools to study. There are many very good schools even in Finland,Sweden and Germany that are ranked between 4000-5000th in Webometrics ranking. EMU is one of the best in the world with very conducive environment. No doubt about that.But my point is would-be students shouldn't rely on Webometrics' ranking PLS.Rather they should rely on people who have been to these schools and have on-sight info.

Thanks alot for the contribution. I am more concerned about the following: University ranking and rating, facilities, scholars in each university, output of publications yearly from each university, Teaching quality, tangible assets, campus environment and value for the money paid yearly or semester wise! There are huge ranking sites for the universities and colleges world wide (I mostly use WEBO but it does not mean we dont have others and am not saying WEBO is FIRST CLASS RATING - Just my own way and we can have others also!!). Also, i will only comment or talk about universities i have been to and i have seen the facilities they have gotten and structures on ground. I try my best to give incoming students the raw news and facts so they can be well informed and choose what ever they want to go for. The universities i have mentioned above, I have been there and i know them very very well.

i happened to have seen huge number of students lied to by agents just to send these students abroad and when they get there, they become frustrated. we have similar cases at EMU, agents will tell students that they will get job on arrival to EMU and some of the agents claimed that EMU even secure work permit for the students on arrival, some sold all their properties and borrowed money to come and discover the reality. So i have taken the task to educate people and give useful information here and is free of charge and am not paid to do this just my own contribution to the society.

I am in charge African scholarship at EMU, just imagine, some new students will arrive and inform us they paid 1000-2000USD for scholarship, i feel bad about this and i always blame the students for these, why will you pay for what is written boldly that is free of charge!!

Do you know any good school in south Cyprus?

I have been to the following universities and i can say much about them as well: University of Cyprus(956, world ranking), European university of cyprus (ranked 6004 world ranking), Fredrick university, Nicosia University and i have heard and known student at Cyprus university of technology (2198). In south Cyprus most of the universities are private while only few are state sponsored Universities. The above mentioned universities to large extent have facilities and ranked a far better compared to AMERICAN COLLEGE OR INTERCOLLEGE.

South Cyprus isn't here. Intercollege, american college...... North Cyprus; CIU isn't here. Just EMU things am seeing so far.

We may change the title to South and North Cyprus and you can contribute also positively to help Africans free of charge. But, it will be good if we contribute basically on good schools not schools that only want the money of the students without facilities nor standard enough to compete with even LASU. Also, it will be nice for us to contribute on schools we have been ourselves, seen and the quality is known. Example: American college and intercollege are not schools (because i have gone to these two colleges personally and i will not advise even you to go there). You can talk about other notable Universities in South Cyprus and any interested fellow can also join...its a forum! Thanks and let contribute well together

All admission letters from EMU comes with complete information. Kindly ask your cousin to check his admission letter, it will be stated if he will need to take foundation courses or not right there in in his admission letter, maybe he can scan it to me. Foundation courses are always given to individuals with different background to their chosen master or PhD programs. Incase is not written on his admission letter and he paid and just receive email asking him to do the foundation, kindly send to my email your cousin full name. i will check the system and speak with the rector/registrar on this and that will be taken off. BUT if is written on his admission letter much earlier then his scholarship counts as well. If your cousin has travelled, just send me his name i will check his status on the registration portal.

I have spoken with the embassy in Turkey this morn and Abuja as well. I confirmed the VISA issued to your brother is real and i also confirmed with African Unit of CIU and the admission is genuine. Your brother should go to skool very very fast before he misses alot of classes. Good luck!

Supporting documents can mean your testimonial, your any award or qualifications apart from your high school results and you can add your high school transcripts. Let me ask you, you are going for FALL entry right? cos spring is over already in METU. If is fall entry you can relax dont rush there huge time for you.

UPGRADE OF SCHOLARSHIP FOR EMU CURRENT STUDENTS

Just recently after 1year waiting time for proposal to award all incoming Nigerians automatic 50% discount irrespective of gender, has finally been approved and we have demonstrated that during the last admission, as we offer automatic 50% scholarship and those i earlier awarded 25% will be awarded 50% during registration.

We had another meeting to discuss the old students that are on debt but with good results, we have decided to wave the debts just for Nigerian and also upgrade their scholarship to 50%. For now old student with CGPA above 3:00 point will be automatically considered for debts waiver and scholarship upgrade. Please any old students reading this should take advantage before this offer closes. Kindly visit the rector office with your transcript and fill the scholarship application form...last day is Tuesday!!

North Cyprus is a beautiful island full of young people driving expensive car and international students are saying there is no job. Hmmmm yeah most of international students drive very expensive cars in Cyprus. Note, some of these students are FRAUDSTER and yahoo yahoo boys that defraud pple to live a fake life. Some of these cars you see are RENT CARS, since anybody can rent cars in cyprus and the cars all look new. When you see a red plate number, is RENT cars.

Yeah Cyprus is hidden gift many pple dont know, but if i must tell you creativity and honesty can only lead you there. learn to be self independent and the star will be your start!

NO you have to pay through the bank account of the University as stated on their website if you want to do it yourself. I am in close in contact with the Registrar of METU, send me your documents and the university will wave the payment for you if i apply for you...NOTE is free of charge, wip7 dont charge money ooo.

Welcome to Cyprus..I read one of your posts, you may want to relocate to Holland..do you still want to leave Cyprus for Holland or just need to get job b4 you leave? If you decides to stay back, you may as well go down to Girne and Lefkosia, try to target the hotels and some of the light industries that produces juice or cheese in Near east area. To get job, you must do the leg work yourself and you may be very luck to find within weeks. dont not be weak or ashamed to go around to ask. You live far from Famagusta, i may suggest a cheese company in Magusa for you but the pay is low but is constant 500lira monthly and tedious. the manager informed me some weeks back that he needs two staffs. I just got back to Cyprus so i dont know if he has found anybody!

You have a very good result, to qualify for 50% waiver, you must score maximum 15 points and your point is 9 points as i calculated it from these subjects, which means you have chance to be awarded 50-100%. Note 50% is guaranteed but 100% is competitive. In few weeks admission process for METU will be open for Sept entry.

You may visit the university website for the documents required. shortly, you will need your high school result (Olevel or A level) and international passport....You must score maximum 21 points for you to be admitted into METU. finally admission for sept entry (FALL) at METU is yet to be declared.

I am not threaten you nor anybody, i have only informed you about EMU and asked some few questions. EMU academic staffs and non-academic staffs are well paid, so non of us will go after cheap money nor fraud even our cleaners earn minimum wage of 1300TL monthly (130k Nigerian money). I am here to help any genuine case. If you dont want to give your cousin name answer the questions from number 2 here.... i will be glad to reply your msg here also on this thread. Those questions will really assist me to give you better and direct answers to the problem your cousin might be facing...... waiting to help further for any clarification!!

My cousin landed in EMU yesterday safely. He was ppicked from the airport by the school.
He just called me now to complain that the school is asking for an additional tuition fee of $5k. He's been charge an additional $500 per course...which is $5k for 10 course.
I called the registrars office when he got the admission and the confirmed that he won't be payying additional fees except the bill that was given to him earlier.

Now, this seems like fraud to me. Can you please confirm this cos I intend to withdraw him right away if I was lied to by the school.

I need to ask few questions and make something clear to you. EMU is a state own University not private nor association of Fraudsters, so EMU will not lie to you unless you dont understand them when you called. Also all fees are stated on EMU website and initial deposit to pay is clearly stated also undergrads acceptance letter. If you can answer the following questions, then we shall know who is lying, if is your cousin or you dont understand the university system. And finally you can withdraw him at the University anytime you wish and there is no penalty except he lose his first semester fees as stated in the admission letter.

Kindly answer the following:

1. Full name of your cousin (i will trace him on the registration portal with this)?

2. is your cousin admitted for master or undergraduate program ?

3. How much did your cousin pay before he arrives to EMU ?

4. If he is master student, was he given FOUNDATION COURSES and how many ?

5. We do not have program that is 10courses, so how did your cousin get this?

6. Master fees for each course for student under 50% scholarship is 512USD at EMU, so where do your cousin get 500USD?

The bolded part....why are you not clear? students coming to Cyprus (North) are issued 30days TRANSIT VISA by Turkish embassy in Abuja, Nigeria and after registration, students are asked to undertake medical tests for HIV, TB etc and apply for residence permit *calld Mucarat in Turkish) and maximum 2years can be granted which is also renewable after the student register at his/her university. Cyprus international is located in NORTH.

Cyprus (South), this is another country. Students are issued Short Entry Visa ONLY to South Cyprus at CYPRUS CONSULATE, IDDO HOUSE, Lagos. Students should register with the District Police Alien Branch within seven days as from the day of arrival in Cyprus and undertake medical examinations for HIV, TB, HP on the first working day after their arrival. Then they will be granted temporary residence permit (PINK SLIP).

The question i have for you is that...When you guys do not trust the agent all these days, why do you pay tuition fees? Anyway, if you send me the acceptance letter, i may check but i may not say is real or fake since it can be Photoshop....You may send me his visa and i can ask the embassy for you anyway if they issue the visa.
