TravelRe: North Cyprus by wip7: 3:10pm On Feb 14, 2013
PrettyCindy: Goodafternoon, please i will like to get some information from you guys.

My younger brother who is 26years (1986), was granted admission to study Business Administration in Cyprus International University. The agent we are using brought an acceptance letter from the school and last week, the visa was issued. When we saw the visa this morning, it had one month transit visit written on it. We are suspecting serious foul play because we expected that the visa will be 3-4years sudent visa.
Also we are concerned if its possible the whole thing is a scam as the age is supposed to be a barrier.
The man said the student vis will be issued in Turkey.

Please can anyone tell me if this is real.
The visa to cyprus (North) is basically granted under TRANSIT VISA scheme and its for 30days and 72hours allowable stay in Turkey.

This is just transit visa from Turkish embassy not Cyprus VISA. The visa can only be issued if you have paid the fees as stated on the conditional offer letter and then you will receive Unconditional letter with embassy /visa info.

After student arrive to Cyprus, the students will be ask to apply for residence permit and this will be granted for maximum of 2years with ability to renew it after it expires, with this permit the student can move out and in of the country.

Yeah the age should be a barrier but some of these agants always forge the age declaration for student and increase it to acceptable age,....But check the admission letter, you will find the age he submitted on the letter.

Hopes this helpsss.........

udehraphael: Thanx wip7 4 d advice,,i appreciate dat,,pls wip7 what do u mean by bag wagons and do not follow women,,that means no one can keep a female girlfriend
I assumed you are a GUY and still at nascent age, so at such age, following women may deter ur focus and u may squander ur sponsor resources on such women bizness. I dont say you should not have casual female friends but spend more energy and time on your main purpose of going to Cyprus. If you are a GAL, then same applies to you. Make your generation proud!! Wish u luck

So is same way of life in all country nothing special. Dont do any bad things Nigerian govt does not support...SIMPLE

udehraphael: Pls wip7 i would like to know ur mind on this,,,i intend to study chemical engineering and then go for petroleum engineering during my masters,,is ok,,pls let anyone advice me pls
i think you should finish undergraduate first before you start thinking of masters, after then you must have grown up abit to understand what exactly you want to do with your education....i will suggest chemical eng for you if you want my candid advise.(During my undergraduate years and masters i did alot of courses in chemical engineering and i did some courses from oi and gas also during my PhD program then), the courses are related but petroleum is narrower i said mentioned before. You may start anyone you wish and switch if you dont want.

obama_broda: pls can you give drop your yahoo id so that we can chat or better still on here .and is it at the embassy i would have to prove that or to the school? thanks for the response
Unfortunately i dont chat and i dont give out my number. I love to reply all inquiries on this forum/thread. Within this thread you may find my email. I only reply genuine email also. So you can ask any question here that will benefit others or look for my email somewhere here.

The university admit 25 yrs max for undergrad but if you can proof to them genuinely with some documents while you are above 25ys then you may be admitted. Also note there is no job so kindly have adequate sponsor to study abroad!
TravelRe: North Cyprus by wip7: 4:27pm On Feb 09, 2013
obama_broda: @wip7 i wish to study at that same skul(METU) but the problem am facing right now is that i will be 26yrs in some days time ..can i still apply?
Its possible, i did apply for a lady last semester born in 1985, if you so wish send me your documents...Also note admission for Spring already close. You need to proof what you have been doing that made you not to be in university uptill this moment anyway! Also METU is highly strict you must score atleast 21 points. you may contact the university if you desire to do that on your own!!
TravelRe: North Cyprus by wip7: 6:31am On Feb 09, 2013
udehraphael: Pls wip7 can u advice me,,,i intend going 4 petroleum eng @ metu but job opportunity scares me off,,now i intend going 4 chemical.,,pls i need advice i really love petroleum eng ,,,offshore works and all others
Job opportunity scares you off in which country? In METU they run Natural gas and petroleum eng gas program which is a cutting edge degree with bunch of practicals both in Turkey and sea floors around middle east. To secure job with this nature of degree, you most have some set of skills and most people find job around the gulf and some other areas. In Nigeria, you will need to be experienced and laced with soft skills that would enable you penetrate. The program although is Narrower and limited to oil and gas region.

Chemical Engineering is more diverse, with chemical engineering degree you can work in all major industries that utilize chemicals like oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, medical device coy, cement industry, water treatment plant, fertilizer etc. To be functional with this degree you must have some set of skills and very creative, so that even you dont find a job you can create jobs yourself with the skills you have gathered.

udehraphael: @ wip7 thanks 4 d response,,pls u said i will write matts and english exams,,,,pls pour more light on it,,pls
All new students intending to enrol at METU, must write English test at a scheduled date and maths for engineering related courses so as to ascertain level of understanding of same subjects. f you pass, you will progress to year 1, if not you may need to go to PRE-SCHOOL for one semester or more depending on your capability.

Fernandez88: @WIP! I wanna book 4 my flight from Istanbul to Ercan today, using Turkish Airlines, my departure and arrival date is gonna fall on the 11th of Feb. PLs i wanna know if i could still send my flight details to EMU for airport pick-up services?
Its advisable to send your flight ticket atleast one day before you depart, We have to plan and select who to pick the students atleast a day before. So today is 9th, you can still send us the flight details.

Fernandez88: Pls NLders! Is there anyone flying to EMU next week? And is there any Bureau De Change @ MMIA, Lagos?
I will advise you to change your money before you arrive that Airport, i dont know if they have changed now but in year 2008 i came to Nigeria, i was issued fake money at same MMIA and i presented this euro in Germany i was so lucky i would have been whisked off by German police. You will surely find Bureau De change at MMIA but then i mean about 4yrs back, most of them just roam round the Airport holding foreign currencies and they know you need it so they might change lower or fake for you. But i dont know the situation now anyway but cant you change your money in your banks?
TravelRe: North Cyprus by wip7: 4:30pm On Feb 08, 2013
udehraphael: Thanks wip7,,,pls i want to study in chemical engineering,,pls i want to know how to go about,,and how much i will be needing monthly over there,,pls reply
For METU (Middle East Technical University)

You will need a maximum score of 21 in five subjects to be admitted, three of which must be related to the program you applied for. If you score 15, you will be awarded 50% but above 16-21 points you will be awarded 25% scholarship. After you are admitted you will be required to pay FULL one semester fees (based on your scaholarship)+ one Full semester Hostel fees (aprox 1100USD), this amount must be transferred to the University after which, you will prepare to obtain your transit visa.

If you wish to apply you may send me your documents and i can make the application on your behalf or you can apply directly yourself (choose what you want).

NOTE: METU is very strict on dates, so you must beat all deadlines and you will write English and Maths exams test before you are allow to register.

udehraphael: Pls i know about the tuition,,but i want to know about the lifestyle over there in metu
The lifestyle is unique to all other universities in Cyprus and the university boost of medium sized international students from various countries. For chemical engineering, you will really enjoy the practical classes and you will have some technical trainings at Ankara (Turkey) as well. Roughly you will be fine with 200-350USD monthly on feeding and living expenses (though it depends on your lifestyle).

Do you have any other questions, drop it down here...........

philebrown333: Yello People here is a real life and little mistake people do when it get to stage of buying ticket.
i had a guy from this same nairaland who bought ticket from me. He contacted me for ticket which i did invited him to my office at Ikeja and afterwards he purchased a one way ticket. against my advice because it was cheaper something of 10,000 difference but he said they should accept that since he is a student and was going for a 3yrs course well i did as he ordered only to get to the airport, he called me that they refused a one way ticket God saved him that day he was with money he had to buy a return before he was allowed to travel against his budget. Now here is another sroty a guy who already got his ticket and has traveled to north cyprus also called me from there telling me he wants to sell his return ticket and i boldly told him that no where in this world that can be possible and here is my advice as an experienced expert travel agent don't play the game of a penny wise pound folish that little money you will forfeit is not something close to the reward which you will get at the end of your study. the law says it a return ticket so is it dont let just becos of little spoil your integrity. the cost of a return ticket is just some few thousand difference you can let go from a one way ticket. If you need a fast and adiceable, way to book and buy a cheap ticket then you are on track.
I just want to state something clear, Note those bolded parts. I like to give REAL and CORRECT INFORMATION on the bolded parts ONLY.

The first one is you can get refund for return ticket/s ( I mean YES and YES...I have done it on several occasions, I dont know if you cant help your clients get it but It is 100000% possible and I will advise you ask the airline how to do it or those more experience in that)

Secondly, There is no rule from Cyprus or Any universities here that states, student must come with return tickets. ONLY ignorants staffs in Nigerian Airports and FRAUD that are forcing students to do that.

NOTE: I am not asking students to buy one way or return tickets but student coming from country where there are Thieves and ignorants staff at the Airport without the government interference may need to follow what the Airport staff wants.

Poster: Pls note am not travelling agent nor tickets agent ooooo so am not asking students not to buy tickets from you but I just need to correct that bolded parts. thanks

You will need to have office address and your company may have 1 director and 1 shareholder. You will need to do company name search. You will need the following:

Petition and Form

Fernandez88: Must they fly with Turkish Airlines?
NO, it must not be Turkish Airline, you can fly other Airlines like Egypt, Emirate, Qatar, Ethiopia, British air, Royal air Maroc. All these Airlines stop at Turkey and they have agreement with other Airlines like pegasus, Atlasjet, Onur Air that transit the passenger to Cyprus without additional fees. Your transit visa takes you down to Cyprus on any of these Airlines and also you must be handy with your Admission letter and confirmation letter.

Turkish Airline is most suitable for first time travellers as the passenger only have one stop over in Turkey and connect to Ercan with Another Turkish Airline and the baggage capacity seems highest and also Turkish airline will board you without Transit visa (that is if people in MMA allows you enter) but other Airlines need you to show them your transit visa.

sulanpance: hello WIP7
Please can you give me your email.
i want to ask youmore about open a company in turky and how to get cheap accomodation.have ben to turkey before and now i want to start my buiness there. thanks
Hello,
The formalities to start a business in Turkey depend on kind of a company you want to establish. You need to know the types of commercial entities that exist in Turkey, e.g Do you wish to establish a Limited Company , Branch, Liaison office, or joint, with any Turkish partner etc...

Some of the types of companies may involve you to have minimum capital(like 5000-50,000Tl) before you can venture into it and you need to show the proof the capital. The tax you pay on each of the company type also differs and Tax on workers differs as well.

Below are some basic steps you need to follow to register your business at the chamber of commerce:

• Submit the notarized articles of association .
• Deposit 0.04% of the capital into either a state bank or the Central Bank of Republic of Turkey
• Complete the company establishment form and register with the trade registry office.

You may meet the Turkish embassy in your country for further assistance!!

Waleabimbola: @wip7...Thanks for your response and questions.. Well the parents wanna buy property. Immediately they get there and that ll be in February and they will deliver th baby by April.. Can that really work out for them?
No it wont work out for them since they don not meet the requirements to file for citizenship. My Biz mate in 2008 was not Turk neither his wife but he had met the nationality requirement long before then but he did not file for it, he actually filed for it after his wife gave birth and his son and him both are now Turks now. CONFIRMED!!!

Waleabimbola: The parents are on a tourist visa and theyl plan buying a property there as soon as possible.. Does having a property in turkey gives the baby automatic citizenship?hope to read from you soon
I asked number of questions but only one was answered. Let me ask again? how long have they being living in Turkey? Do they wish to buy property and live in Turkey permanently or for more than 5 years without staying out for more than 3 months? Anyway from your reply, seems they are just travelling to Turkey with TV or already in Turkey with TV, in that case the child will only have birth certificate from Turkey but never citizenship. With tourist visa (TV), they can not obtain residence permit and residence permit is one of the requirements in Turkey to file for citizenship. They can obtain citizenship if they do the following:

1. Live in Turkey for 5years 2, Buy property to stay permanently 3. Have elementary Turkish language certificate 4. Have means of support financially 5. Not racist or of good character, Then their children will will be Turks. But on TV is not possible.
TravelRe: Citizenship by Birth In Turkey? by wip7: 7:53am On Jan 27, 2013
Waleabimbola: Does anyone know if citizenship is given to a baby born in Turkey to 2 foreign parents?
I have lived in Turkey and one of my friends had similar issues like this in 2008. I may like to ask few questions. How long has the parents of the unborn baby living in Turkey? class of residency the parents hold in Turkey and what do they do for a living? Do the parents hold Turkish citizenship? If the parents hold Turkish citizenship then, the child automatically becomes Turk but if not and the years the parents living in Turkey is less than 5years and they do not want to buy property to live permanently in Turkey, then the child has 30days to get residence permit. You may also contact your country embassy in Turkey. !!!

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE OF EMU NEW DEVELOPMENT

After serial meetings and proposals, we have finally come up with another new development. The Eastern Mediterranean University Scholarship Committee has decided to award all spring 2012-2013 Semester admitted students 50% scholarship. Those admitted applicants who has been awarded 25% for this upcoming Spring Semester 2012- 2013 should consider themselves 50% scholarship (please disregard the 25% scholarship that was sent to you earlier in case you are affected).

I have also suggested a way to curb or reduce the exorbitant charges laid on student for scholarship (which is FREE of charge), so next semester we shall redesign our admission letters to carry on it the scholarship award to each student and the bank account of EMU, this will reduce the agents from demanding thousands of dollars for scholarship.

Hey, dont get it mixed up...this is not just EMU thread but its all about CYPRUS. If you read this thread from Beginning i talk about South Cyprus and North Cyprus and the universities in these places. I seems to answer questions relating to EMU most cos i have first hand and updated information about EMU, i can answer general questions about Cyprus but not specific questions about each school. Also why i dont encourage pple to other universities is becos of huge popoulation of these students transferring to EMU every semester due to one problem or the others. Every other university has website and all information you need can be found on each university website including EMU.

As i will quote here...you will find all you need on the website, just learn how to use your computer

I firstly booked on 2nd of dec. No ply through out the year end, booked again this year on 2nd of Jan, no reply yet. And here's ur thread saying the Embassy has informed EMU they have issued 100 visas and 50 appointments applications received to be attended to. I thought it ought to be first come first serve services. Pls! WIP! Kindly assist me on this, i only booked once in dec, no reply made me to book again once in jan. Pls! WIP! I await ur possive responds pls pls and pls.
I once replied you on this case. At EMU, we do not have problem sending student details to the embassy provided the student has paid his/her required fees. We have a set procedure to send student details to embassy. I can as well confirm to you that your name is NUMBER one on the first LIST we sent to embassy for SPRING SEMESTER with confirmation number ABUJA 400-807-6409. So giving appointment date is not EMU JOB nor my own JOB, It is the embassy duty to assign appointment date to all applicants that made the application and we (EMU) cannot influence the embassy decision but we can only follow ups and speak with them on cases of missing details or denied cases but we cant FORCE or ASK the embassy to assign date to any students. The embassy cannot ASK or FORCE EMU to admit any student as well so each organization has their own duty.

In your own case, which i prayed is not what has happened is the issue of MULTIPLE EMAILS that you always send which i just hope is not what has affected your case but since you claimed is once you email them. Then wait more for the embassy to decide on your own date. On Friday we shall be have meeting with the Turkish ambassador and i shall table you guys complaints again. i hope this helps.........
