I have offers from marmara university, haceppete university and yildiz teknik university
please offer more advice and explanations
The three universities are great universities, only haceppete uni is located in Ankara (capital of Turkey), while the other two in Istanbul, Marmara Uni is not far from the major city center in Istanbul and all the major shopping stores are find around there especially sultanahmet region. it has many campuses though, so it depends on which campus you fall to. If you want quite and not so large population you may choose Hace Uni since is located in Ankara but if you want so much crowd and too much shopping then consider those in Istanbul. Since all the tree universities are public then the fees will be low so you can enjoy yourself. Wish you luck!

Stating you were working for him during the 2yrs and state why you left school working for him and state your position in the company and he should state his relationship to you. Get this letter and scan it clearly to me. Then scan a short CV to back it up. The letter should be address to the Registrar of METU, Kalkanli-Guzelyurt, North Cyprus via Mersin 10, Turkey
check that bold part....

abbakacici: Pls wip7 I have three questions First I have admission letter for last semester january but I could make due to some reasons so my question is that do I need to apply again so just used the old admission letter and paid the tuition fees second question is that can some one transfer from emu program to warwick emu program and the third question not related is about accomodation from the pictures I saw is like alfam dorm look better but marmara dorm is more expensive and student like it more, alfam cost like USD 3700 while marmara cost usd 5000 so the question what marmara has that alfam does have
Hey,

1. If you want to come now for the upcoming semester, you have to renew your admission letter. Kindly email your letter back to the registrar and inform them you want to renew.

2. Its better to start with WARWICK PROGRAM at the beginning than transferring at the middle. You may transfer but what happend to the money you paid to EMU? totally gone. But When you start WARWICK at EMU, you can have opportunity to do second master at a shorter period and earn two Master almost at same time. One from EMU and one from WARWICK.

3. Mamara is old student hostel and is private. neat and quite, has kitchen within each room but Alfam is newly modernized hostel and maybe slightly noisy, also private without Kitchen within the room but at coridor. If you want to live in private dorm in EMU, I will strongly advise AKDENIZ dorm for you, is private and the most sane. You can visit each before you register and decide though but Akdeniz still boil out as great!

pop101: @wip
What opportunties/program do you have for 3rd class degree holders to study in EMU?
EMU offer American based education so, the least they can admit is 2.2 from Nigeria. But we have a collaboration with one of the reputable Universities from the UK (Warwick University), can admit 3rd class and give like foundation course. The programs run on EMU campus and students can take some courses at the UK, we just graduate the first set of Warwick students and the degree comes from WARWICK entirely. Its one year and cost 9800pounds ONLY.

trustee20: Hi WIP7,
I submitted application to EMU on 6th march, when i check my admission status this is what I saw---------

Evaluation of the Registrar's Office Approved 11.03.2013

Evaluation of the IGSR Approved 11.03.2013.

My application is now waiting approval at the department. Please is there any hope for me. This is my application no A130965. Thanks for your usual co operations.
Atleast 3-4 lecturers will also evaluate your application at your chosen department and if you have good grades and studied related course in your bachelor then you will be admitted. In short time your application status will be updated to know if you are admitted or not or if you have to take some foundation courses.

for how long do I have to wait to be able to invite them-1month,6months?

if I now invite them, is it on visiting or to stay with me fully?

when you say sponsorship, please can you elaborate a little in financials and numbers?

from your experience, what can be considered n average expense

I really don't know much about turkey, the cities, regions etc, maybe you can enlighten me better

thanks
There is no time frame you have to wait to invite, after you have studied your environment and know the cost of managing yourself and your family you can talk to your university.

You will invite them on official documents (basically from your employer or school) and they will apply for either short stay visa or long stay visa and the purpose must be PRIVATE VISIT. After arrival you may speak with the police department on TRP. Mostly they may ask you to show proof of income for the total period of stay ranging 300-500USD monthly for one person, so multiply that by number of your family members.

Living expenses has to do with the city your university is located, Turkey is big country with many states and cities. So where is your university and which city is located? this should give you idea of the living expenses. From personal experience and the friends living in Turkey 300-500USD should do you some good excluding accommodation and bills.

rateforex: please i just got an offer for phd study in turkey.since i would be staying there for about 4yrs,can i go with my family?does the embassy offer visa for student dependants and what type?i have searched the turkish embassy website and nothing of such.i will appreciate adequate information
Hey,

I will advise you go first and experience the cost of living and the lifestyle of people living currently in Turkey before you move your family. The embassy will not issued visa for you and your family at first time but you may invite your family after you are settled and have Temporary residence permit(TRP). You may inform you university that your family will be visiting and the university will send IV to the embassy on your behalf after you fulfilled some requirements such as marriage certificate, proof that you can sponsor them when they arrive and accommodation they will stay etc. After Arrival, you may apply at the tax office for them the MUCARARAT (TRP)and you will have to meet some requirements which borders on sponsorship ability etc. You may not secure 4yrs for them at once but you can renew each time it expires.

Also you have to plan financially before you embark on this, cos cost of living in Turkey maybe higher than your home country and the city your university located matters most. If you are in Mamara, Adana, Izmir you may not have much probs eventhough may still be higher compared to your home country. Istanbul and Ankara might be on the high side but there are still far cheaper region in Ist also.

donkos: @Wip7: Please what is the total costing for Masters degree in Electrical Engineering in METU. Also any other relevant info will be welcomed.smiley Thank you sir.
METU do not offer Master degree in Electrical Engr in North Cyprus campus. They offer related program as master in Sustainable and Energy system, Master program at METU is 1800USD/per semester and program can last 1-5 semesters, means you may finish in 2 or 3 or 5 semesters depending on you.

Mrjam3zBond007: Pls i just want clearification on this issue ....(1) pls after paying the complete school fees of 4200USD for a masters programm in EMU, do u still pay for course registration ? (2) if so, do u mean to tell me that after paying school fees of 4200USD you wud still pay 1100USD per course registration.
Thanks
The total tuition fees for master program at EMU excluding MBA is 9200USD. A student maybe awarded 25% or 50% scholarship. If you are awarded 50% (if you graduate with good CGPA from 2.8 upward) then the student pays 4700USD this is inclusive of registration fees and no any additional fees to be paid. If you pay the FULL 4700USD at once then you wont pay anything till you graduate. If you pay less than 4700USD initially, then the minimum you can pay in each semester to balance up is 1100USD.

Fernandez88: Thank u SIR! But would he be issued the confirmation of payment with the $1,100? And would his name be sent to the embassy? quote author=wip7]

Master student in EMU (excluding MBA) with 50% pays total 4700USD to finish the program, the program can last btwn 1.5-2yrs. Minimum course per semester is 1 but minimum amount to pay is 1100USD. Those English courses are optional, basically designed for non-speaker and for students intending to learn Business English and legal English etc.
When he gets admission, minimum he can pay is 2200USD to get confirmation letter and for us to send his name to embassy. After he paid 2,200usd the balance can be paid in the following semester and minimum he can pay in each semester is 1100usd.

fados4sure: Please Mr WIP7?
I will be meeting all the requirement for residence permit by next and i would like to know how long will it take then to issue me the Residence Permit and secondly, if i want to travel to Nigeria, do i need a Turkey transit visa?
Residence permit is issued same day if you have all the required docs with you and money. You dont need visa to return to your country since you hold Nigerian passport. Some Airline like Egypt Air may request that but is not necessary since you wont be entering Turkey. On Turkish Airline is stated boldly you dont need it.

Fernandez88: Nop!!!!!!! That can't be TRUE! They didn't mention any salary, after the interview "last week" they said that i really impressed them with my performance but unfortunately they were looking for old students. But just on Monday, "this week" i went to my Dept. Secretary for some errors on my portal and She told that im now available as their Student Assistant, that they'll be calling whenever they need me but if only i could do it voluntarily! And i said yes, i wanna do it coz i'll like to get more accustom to my Dept. I didn't know it involves salary coz they said VOLUNTARILY. How is the pay like WIP? And should i go and accept the Offer or not? Pls i need your heed!!!
At EMU, student assistant job comes with SALARY. It varies based on the unit and number of hours allowed, if you have chosen VOLUNTARY work then dont expect salary. You may start the voluntary for now and you have good benefits and exposure the department and maybe after a semester they may change your status from VOL to SAL. wish you luck!!!!!!!

She has not attended any university before, she just like EMU and she want to do summer school here. I've told her about the summer program which is the maximum of 3 courses, and she said she'll do it and leter transfer to full undergraduate admission.
EMU dont admit during summer.

udehraphael: @wip 7,,pls is there any oil company in turkey or refinery in middle east as whole and also i heard student who graduate with good grade from metu are given job in middle east
There are oil companies in Middle east and Turkey. METU graduates do fine after graduation as most students under petroleum undergo training with some of these oil facilities.

Fernandez88: Ok! Thanks SIR!!! One more thing, i have a friend from Thailand, She is interested doing a Summer School here in EMU, but i couldn't get the Summer Form online. And can she transfer after her summer to full undergraduate program in EMU?
We do not offer full program during summer, if her university is part of EMU exchange partner she can come as exchange student. If not it maybe difficult to enrol during summer. Although, the university are having meeting to open summer entry but yet to conclude. Yes incase she finds herself here she can transfer.

trustee20: Greetings, WIP7,
I have been following this thread for some time now, and I quite appreciate your high level of support and assistance for especially Nigerians who intend or are planning to study in Cyprus. Your reward is straight from Heaven. keep it up sir.
I am a graduate of Philosophy and intend to study in Cyprus for this upcoming fall session. Please Sir, I wish to ask for your candid advice on which school to choose between CIU, METU and EMU. What are their tuition fees. I know these schools has website, but I also know that a more explicit information will come from, as you have done for others. Thanks very much for your anticipated co operation, support and quick response. God bless.
Thanks for your words. I am part of university system and i have passed through number of universities. I will only advise students to choose universities that are reputable, good environment, facilities, recognized and that can actually provide cutting edge education to the students. I will recommend either EMU or METU for you. These are state sponsored Universities not private, with good number of reputation. Unfortunately non of these universities offers Master program in Philosophy which you did study at your undergraduate year.

You may be admitted into M.A program in International relations which both university offers. You must have atleast 2.5/4.0 to be admitted and METU selection criteria stricter. METU offer combination of political science and Intl relation as a master program.

Yes there are some Turkish language schools in Lefkosia but i dont know if they exist again, try locate British embassy area there are few language schools just few houses from there. Also go to CIU language or information desk they should know more. In EMU we offer Turkish language and Chinese (manadarin)training Free of charge for our students.
